Meaning that someone had thumb-printed in my name for one of d candidates (my guess is PDP is d culprit, which is the party that swept all the seats in my area).

I've been trying to learn Arabic language for some time. Already I can read Arabic text (though not fluently but I can read  sentences after a couple of attempts). Alot of people can read Quran far more fluently than myself but many of them still rely on the translation to know the meaning of what they read. However, I think it will be far more fulfilling for me to know the exact meaning of what you read and I also think more people will be motivated to read the Quran if they can just step up to knowing the meaning rather than relying on the translation.

Can anybody suggest materials (preferably video tutorials) that is geared towards this goal.

N.B: During the course of my search, I got to know about www.lqtoronto.com (9 free DVDs to download) However, this is relatively for people who already has some basic knowledge of the language.

I don't know the kinds of friends you have there but we all pay taxes( nigerians pay taxes too) and we all have to work hours each day to make a living( I believe many more work longer hours in Nigeria, than their peers here do for obvious reasons). If a man LEGALLY marries a woman (the bride in question being handed over to the man by the bride's mother herself!!). Many months ago, I got pissed with the way some ppl just jump into existing discussions and post irrelevant (most times posts that are offensive to the faith of the thread starter). The topic was relatively hot and I believe that MAY have been the reason for creating separate sections for both Muslims and xtians by the then moderator. I must commend whoever thought of that idea of creating separate sections in order to maintain decorum.

However, while I believe everbody has the right to make contributions to existing discussions Muslims/Christians, I strongly bliv more stringent measures need to be taken to prevent further occurrence. I think and its just my opinion and suggestion that ANYBODY BE IT A MUSLIM OR XTIAN THAT MAKE OFF TOPIC/OFFENSIVE POSTS SHOULD BE BANNED. I have a number of friends who are engineering graduates but ended in the bank. From our discussions and my observations of their lifestlyes, I know for sure that they are not doing badly. One of them even borrowed me 50k of recent. However, one thing that I also found out is that they are all on the look-out for an engineering job. But months after months; years after years it keeps getting more and more difficult for them to get the job of their dream. Simply because of their experience/age ratio. They cannot settle for an entry level job in engineering but certainly don't have the experience for intermediate/senior level. Believe me guys, its too easy getting trapped in the system. One of them even have plan to go abroad for his masters perhaps that will brighten his chances of getting a good engineering job. But as of now he is still stuck with the bank.

I have been lucky from the very begining, so I'm happy with my engineering job especially when my folks tell me what they put up with doing what they're not passionate about.

Even though I started with N20k/month, now I earn a modest seven (7) digits salary after tax per annum which from my calculation is about twice my friend's salary and I close at 4:00pm (also no saturday work!!) to go home to my family while my guys can't even think of going home until accounts have been balanced even if it means staying till 8:00pm.

Some guys like oyb have made good comments at the begining of this thread. I'll say to my brother to follow that advice.

oohh common I expect you to know better than this. Swords can only capture the body and at best the land (i.e political control of a people). It cannot win the inner conviction for a person. For example, the "french sword" controlled the Algerians for many years but you and I know it didn't control their inner soul and the rest of the story you are familiar with I hope. Pls tell me which Islamic sword went to Indonesia where there are so many muslims today? What we have today are muslims around the globe (not all but the majority) that are conviced from within that Islam is the way. This feat could not have been possible just with the sword my dear.

For the dellusion that Islam is spreading (thank God for at least not disputing that its spreading in the first place) due to immigration and child birth, I think the first muslim American congressman Keith Ellison will completely disagree with u. He like many others are neighter born from muslim home nor immigrants. According to wikipedia, Ellison was born into a Roman catholic family, and his forefathers have been in America since 1742 i.e before the declaration of independence!!

chief you shld know better. Video documentaries don't say anything. There are tonnes of evidence (least alone from video-taped messages from osama bn laden himself) claiming that the 19 9-11 bombers were from alqaeda. Their training videos have been made available by al qaeda. Telephone transcripts from the suicide bombers just before the the crash are also available.

The only people who still believe in the conspiracy theories are delude muslims themselves who just find it so hard to believe that all they've been told in the mosque is a lie.
The muslim world still celebrates the 19 hijackers today . . . so much for "proving beyond reasonable doubt".

As for 9/11 and the 19 hijackers, its a whole story of itself deserving (maybe) a new thread. But surfices to say here that not even in the official video tape released by the CIA did Osama did not take responsibilty for the attack (he only praises the attack). I understand that the CIA WANTED poster of Osama release by the officials does not even indict him of the 9/11 tragedy! Guess what, cos according to the investigations, their's no hard evidence linking him to the event. As for the alleged hijackers, how many of them turned out to be alive?
