Former governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to sack Godswill Akpabio, minister of Niger Delta affairs and Kemebradikumo Pondei, acting managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). The former governor disclosed this in a tweet on Friday, July 25. According to Fayose, the duo had been celebrating the success of their drama at the national assembly with hot pepper soup and assorted drinks. “With this level of fraud exposed in NDDC, Buhari must sack Akpabio now,” Fayose said. “The president can’t continue to treat looting of public treasury as family affair and his fight against corruption as instrument of persecution against opposition figures". “By keeping in his govt the likes of Akpabio and the NDDC MD, Prof Pondei, who went about celebrating the success of their National Assembly drama with hot pepper soup and assorted drinks, the President will only be reinforcing the conclusion that he supports corruption,” he added. Meanwhile, Isa Sadiq Raddah, member of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) has made another revelation as the corruption probe into the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) hits new dimension. Speaking at a workshop in Sokoto, Raddah, who is also a member of the commission's forensic audit committee, said about 12,000 projects which were paid for through the agency were abandoned. The PACAC member further added that 1,700 contractors got mobilisation fees from NDDC and vanished without executing the projects. Raddah's revelation is coming barely twenty-four hours after the Senate probe panel investigating alleged financial recklessness in the NDDC disclosed that billions of naira were aimlessly squandered under the Kemebradikumo Pondei-led leadership. NDDC for 20 years has gotten over $40 billion. And when you calculate $40 billion into naira, we are talking of N116 trillion. "But the entire money was taken away by their young people, their leaders, their agitators, their activists and now the Niger Delta is as bad as many of the rural areas you find in Northern Nigeria. Not because they don’t have the money, but because there is corruption," Raddah submitted.

My mother encourages me to never limit myself so I am proud I made an effort," he disclosed in an interview after the masterclass. Christon started engaging in profit- making ventures at the age of eight after he published a book named 'The Win Within' and sold it door-to-door, making $5,000(N1,937,500). Why U.S. court dismissed complaint against Woodberry - Lawyer How we tracked 'Woodberry' via iPhone, WhatsApp, Bitcoin transactions - FBI A United States court has dismissed the case against Olalekan Ponle, a Nigerian accused of multi-million dollar wire fraud. Mr Ponle, popularly known as Woodberry, was arrested, alongside Ramon Abbas (Hushpuppi) in the United Arab Emirate on June 10 for multiple fraud charges after a raid by operatives of the Dubai crime unit. The duo were extradited to the U.S. on July 2. According to the complaint against Mr Ponle, an unnamed Chicago company was tricked into sending wire transfers totalling $15.2 million. Companies based in Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, New York and California also were victims of the fraud, prosecutors say. PREMIUM TIMES reported how the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) nabbed Mr Ponle through details accessed from his WhatsApp, iPhone and Bitcoin transactions. He was extradited to the United States on July 2. The 29-year-old was facing charges bordering on wire fraud conspiracy at a United States District Court in Illinois. In fact, a report of the grand jury, a group of lawyers empowered to conduct legal proceedings and investigate potential criminal conduct, indicted him. The jury summed up the allegations against him to an eight-count charge of wire fraud, which violates section 1343 of the United States Codes. Dismissal: The United States government on Monday filed a motion through its attorney, John R. Lausch, requesting that the case against Mr Ponle should be dismissed without prejudice. “Counsel for the government has spoken with counsel for the defendant and defendant’s counsel has no objection to this motion. Respectfully submitted,” Mr Lausch stated. He said it is in pursuant with Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure 48, which states that the government may, with leave of court, dismiss an indictment, information, or complaint. Also, the government may not dismiss the prosecution during trial without the defendant’s consent. A court order issued by Judge Robert W. Gettleman on Tuesday, said the government’s motion to dismiss complaint without prejudice was granted. “Without objection the complaint against defendant Ponle is dismissed without prejudice. Motion presentment hearing set for 7/23/2020 is stricken,” Mr Gettleman ruled. When a case is dismissed with prejudice, it is over and done with, once and for all, and can’t be brought back to court. However, when it is dismissed without prejudice, like in the case of Mr Ponle, the dismissal is temporary as the prosecutor can refile the case within a certain period of time. The probable causes of dismissal range from unavailability of sufficient evidence, an improper criminal complaint or charging document, to loss of evidence necessary to prove the defendant committed the crime. While PREMIUM TIMES is yet to obtain the reason for the dismissal against Mr Ponle, there are indications that the prosecutor will re-file a case against him. He is yet to be released from detention at the time of this report.

Believe me, knowing these secrets of witches and wizards will solve most of your problems. But you will get to know that, 80% of your problems are caused by your actions, by giving them (witches and wizard) the permissions without you knowing it. You can avoid them. Knowing about them will help you make the right decision about people around you. The old testament condem witches. Exodus22:18, "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live". A group of witches are called Coven. A male witch is called wizard or warlock. The name witch comes from the word 'Wicca' wicca which means "wise one". You see? Witches and wizards are very wise. Who is a witch? A Witch is a woman who is associated with evil, practise evil spell. They possess the power to your control things and events with your permissions. And they can't do without your permissions. They are known to operate at night, As night falls, they gain energy. All the activities of witches and wizards always ends before 3am. Else, as day breaks, their powers vanish slowly. Who ever stays till after 3am, might not be able to go back home. The person might fall from the sky when going back home from coven, if time elapsed. Witches are afraid of being flung by brooms. Try flung a witch with just a stick of broom, she will beg you. Below are facts about witches and wizards. 1. You can torture a witch for several minutes and she won't talk. But with a stick of broom for a minute she can confess. 2. A person can't bewitch you if none of your relatives (especially your parents) hands are not among. It is possible that your mother or your dad is not a witch but a pastor or a native doctor can tell you that your dad or your mum is bewitching you. Do you know why? Let me explain. Remember I said that, nobody can bewitch you if your people especially your mum or dad hand it not involved. This is what they do. If they wants to fight or bring you down, they will physically meet your people especially your mum to get words from her. For example, you are doing well in the city and they want to bring you down, they will meet your parents especially your mum ( because women talk too much), the person they sent will ask, "Hope your son is managing in this covid 19?", if your mum reply by saying, "yes He is managing", that is all, they will cause her son to manage ( to manage mean, things are not sufficient for you). Anywhere you go for help, all the fingers will point at your innocent mum because she gave them the permission without her knowing that. What should I learn from this? Learn to control issues that has to do with your sons or your daughters with your mouth. Your mouth can cause life and death, so choose your words carefully, whenever someone asks you any questions concerning your child or children. Answer with a positive response. Because most of the questions people ask has hidden motives. 3. A witch or wizard can't hurt or harm you if you didn't permit them. Before a witch bewitch you, they will either look for words from your mouth or look for a little fault from you. They can cause you to do something that they will hold at hand. For example, one of them will come to you and say " big man, you Don get money ooooh" And you answer, " no money oooh I just dey". Then your case has been won. If a witch or wizard take your issue or issues to the Coven, the first question they will ask him or her is, why are you doing this? Then, he or she will have to say, I met him earlier today, and I ask him "how is business", he said that "my business is not doing well", so I want to help him so that the business will not do well as he said. Or I met him earlier today, he said " no money oooh", so I want to help him to have no money as he said. Sometimes, they might even records all you said and take to Coven. What Should I Learn From This ? No witch or wizard can harm you, if you or your parents did not give the witch or wizard the permission to. They have no power over you except you give them the permission. Learn to control everything about you with your mouth. Your mouth can cause you a lot of pain if not controlled. Stop judging things base on what you are seeing now. Today is bad doesn't mean that tomorrow will be bad too. Stop telling people bad things about yourself. Don't judge yourself base on your bank account balance but judge yourself base on your heavenly Father's account balance. Hallelujah. Only then will you discover that you have enough more than you thinks. Try this today and see your life change for best. 4. A Witch from another home can't come to your house if not invited by a witch in that house. Witches have principles that guide their operations. No witch or wizard is allowed to enter another person's house except by invitations. This invitation can be done by Negative words from our mouths. My Advice. Whenever you give money to someone, try to name that money. Example: 1. Take this money for recharge card 2. Manage this money to buy something for yourself. In this way, that person can't harm you with that money spiritually. If you give someone money like : Take this money, the person might say thank you for the money you gave me and then use that money to draw more money from you. This is no superstition.

The tongue is one of the smallest organs of the human body but can set the whole body on fire. Don’t think all the people around you today are your friends. You cannot easily differentiate your friends from your enemy when things are going well with you and that is why you have to control what you say to them . Have you ever had a conversation and later come to regret it after? Well that is what this article is all about. No matter how close you are to someone, there are some deep secrets they should not know about you including your best friends. A poet once said “look into the mirror, your best friend is the person you see in that mirror” so, some secrets are to be kept between you and you alone. But, if you have a hard time controlling your tongue, silence is one of the best ways to avoid this trap. Please, no matter the level of intimacy, never share these secrets about your personal life. 1. GOALS FOR THE FUTURE This sits top of the list because a man on a mission without a vision will surely end up in destruction. No matter your enthusiasm about your future plans and goals, never share them with anyone. Science says when you do this, you deceive your brain into thinking you have already achieved the goal hence you will feel reluctant to pursue it. When you keep your goals to yourself, you will always feel motivated to pursue it. Work hard in silence and let success make the noise. 2. YOUR INCOME Your financial life is something that should be kept private to you alone. Your money or source of income is not something to be discussed about when in the public. Only some set of people like your spouse or next of kin should be allowed to have your financial details. You will save yourself from a lot of harm by keeping your financial life private. 3. PAST RESENTMENT Experience they say is the best teacher but I tell you that it is the worst teacher because it gives you the test before presenting the lesson. No matter the situation, never make the mistake of sharing some of your negative experiences with people. Some people have many awkward experiences like rape, molestation, violence and many hurtful past no one will want to talk about. Sharing this with other s will always bring back those ugly memories and those you trust can even use it against you later. 4. YOUR SEX LIFE EXPERIENCE It is an act of betrayal to share this level of privacy between you and your partner with someone else. No matter how you run out of what to say during conversation, never share this experience with any of anybody, it is between you and your partner alone. 5. GOOD DEEDS You might have heard the famous “pride goes before a fall” and this is quite true. When you feel you have done enough well, you should not be the one to praise yourself before others. The reward of what your do in secret will always come back to you in secret. Don’t always make the mistake of bragging about yourself towards others. It brings you nothing. You will wonder why many philanthropist will always value their anonymity compared to public praise but the truth is there simply understand this principle. 6. FAMILY PROBLEMS Don’t trust people with your little family secrets because it can come back to hurt you later. Family issues can be shared with one’s family member or spouse but anything aside this is not safe. |
Not less than 12 directors and top staff of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) including the Secretary, have been suspended with immediate effect in what appears to be a clean sweep. The notice of suspension was communicated to the Acting Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Mohammed Umar, on Tuesday night by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation. The action was said to be in connection with the ongoing investigation of the suspended Acting Chairman of the agency, Mr. Ibrahim Magu. But there is anxiety in the commission on the suspension with some of those affected claiming that they were not directly involved in Magu’s administration The Crest can confirm that the Executive Secretary, Olanipekun Olukoyede is among the officials suspended. A dependable source said:“All the top officials in the agency have been suspended, their offices locked, to prevent any tampering with files at the commission.” Last week, Magu was suspended and the agency’s Director of Operations, Mohammed Umar Abba, was appointed to oversee its operations. Abba is not part of the officials suspended. It will be recalled that Olukoyede was appointed Secretary in November 2018 following his confirmation by the Senate. Olukoyede, a former chief of staff to Magu, replaced Mr Emmanuel Aremo, whose five-year tenure expired in July 2018. Magu is facing the second week of grilling by the Justice Ayo Salami-led Presidential Panel over some weighty allegations of improprieties, money laundering, insubordination and misconduct. Others are re-looting funds recovered by the commission and accepting bribes to pervert justice. Magu has also been accused of allegedly failing to give proper account of missing 332 out of the 836 recovered real estate property as of March, 2018. He is also accused of mismanagement of recovered assets by the EFCC and helping the panel to resolve wide discrepancies in figures of recovered monies published by the agency.

African pastors have been trending on social media these days due to the level they have taken deliverance and the performing of Miracles. We have been seeing different methods these pastors utilize and you begin to question yourself what is going on here. When you think you have seen it all until you come across another pastor again with another method of performing a miracle. Some pastor's methods of performing miracles have been considered normal and while some other pastor's methods of performing miracles can be said to be very wired. One pastor trending on social media for his methods of conducting deliverance is a Ugandan pastor called to pastor Ng'ang'a whose method of conducting deliverance is also very unique. He conducts deliverance by playing soccer with the possessed person and immediately the ball touches the person falls down to a higher power. This is a church a sport-loving person would love to attend as it is an opportunity to watch live soccer on Sunday. As the devil is modernizing sins and attack the pastors are also modernizing deliverance sessions. All I want to say Is that we have to be careful of things we see and hear on social media. And we should also be mindful of how we go about looking for a miracle. It is also important that Christian should be very close to their Bible so that they won't be deceived. Because recent happenings in the world show that the end times are here. Whatever religion you are practicing make sure you use your wisdom, don't take what you are taught in your religious gathering with line hook and sinker without seeking the divine interpretation to it. Though God works in mysterious ways yet you hold its a responsibility to be careful and not be deceived.

Politics is full of up and down. The moment you chose to be a politician, you become a public figure. Political gladiators are believed to do everything with their power to climb certain positions in life. And therefore, in a bid to win people's hearts to themselves, they go outside their will to satisfy the electorates. This is a known fact that is obtainable all over the world. When a politician insist to have his way without thinking of the negative angle, then he or she is bound to get hurt or regret. This is just the case of a Uganda political figure that became famous after he reportedly destroyed about 10 boreholes he constructed. Reports has it that Patrick Okumu-Ringa destroyed 10 boreholes he constructed, after losing Nebbi Parliament Election. He was reported to have said the people never took him serious despite what he has done for their community. According to him"I am hurt, they took my kindness for granted, they should look for water elsewhere for the meantime" His action goes on to confirm that politics to him is an investment that has to yield. He also sees politics as a do or die affair.

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timi Frank, has condemned recent allegations of corruption in Nigeria. Reacting to the latest alleged $800 million oil fraud, Frank told President Muhammadu Buhari to resign. He also called on the National Assembly to thoroughly probe reports of fraud in the oil sector. Frank lamented that such a huge amount of money gotten from the oil rich Niger Delta was allegedly stolen while the region lacks good schools, hospitals, roads and others. On Twitter on Monday, Frank expressed dismay over the way Buhari is running Nigeria. The political activist tweeted: “Muhammadu Buhari should resign as Petroleum Minister and President of this country. Under his watch as he has failed, Nigeria cannot breath anymore. I call on the oil producing community and Niger Delta Region at large to protest this current looting. “This is exactly what the musical Prophet Fela called ‘Authority stealing pass armed robbery’. We are disappointed that corruption has eaten deep into Nigeria. The fight against corruption and insecurity was just one of those campaign gimmicks General Buhari used in deceiving Nigerians. “All those who are part of this $800million must be brought to book. This case mustn’t be swept under the carpet. The 9th Assembly must probe these allegations.” Frank also called on the international community to place a visa ban on all those involved in the alleged looting. “I call on the International communities, US, UK, all should place Visa ban on these looters and their families. This is a way they can help Nigeria to support the fight against corruption. No government has looted like Buhari’s government. Our security, educational and healthcare system have failed, and poverty, hunger, unemployment are now friends to the system. This administration has dented Nigeria’s image internationally. They are the worst in terms of looting. Once you loot public funds you will be celebrated under Gen Buhari’s watch. Despite all of this, even Magu will go scot-free, just like others. they’re practically the role model of Yahoo boys.”, Timi Frank stated.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has described what it called the mass defection from the All Progressives Congress, APC to its fold, ahead of the Edo governorship election, as an end-of-the-road signpost for the APC and its candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu. This is as the party acknowledged the solidarity of thousands of members of other political parties, it claimed, have already declared support for its candidate, Governor Godwin Obaseki. In a statement issued by its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, the PDP said it has been receiving daily reports of massive surge for PDP membership cards in our state, local government and ward offices, “following the soaring popularity of Governor Obaseki and the PDP across the state.” The statement further read: “The PDP notes that with the gale of defection and mass flow of support from the people of Edo State, the APC candidate would soon look back and find himself standing alone. “Following the surge, the PDP has directed all our ward offices across the state to expand their registration capacity to ensure adequate accommodation for all Edo people in their irrevocable quest to realize their aspiration on the platform of the PDP. “Our party notes that the Edo people are already aware that unlike the suppressive and corrupt APC, the PDP is the only true platform where their voices, wishes and aspirations as individuals and as a people, are completely guaranteed at all levels and all without the oppressive control of corrupt god-fathers. “Furthermore, our party is already aware of the worsened crisis, disagreements and trepidation in the APC over their imminent crushing defeat by the Edo people. “For the people of Edo State, the September 19 election is a referendum and determined march for freedom from the stranglehold of the repressive, heartless, vindictive, exploitative and corrupt APC. “The PDP therefore charge the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as well as security agencies to note that the people of Edo State have made up their mind to re-elect Governor Obaseki and as such must ensure that all the processes allow only for free, fair and credible election on September 19.”

Godwin Akpabio deserve to be in jail by now, both APC and PDP are the same. Infact , Nigerian politicians are shameless. I wish the military can overthrow this clueless Government and did to Nigerian politicians to what J.J Rawlings did to Ghanaian Politicians in the 80's |
Currently, there is trouble in Trouble in Nigeria's Niger-Delta Commission (NDDC), as its former Acting MD, Joy Nunieh accuses Minister Godswill Akpabio of corruption. Joy Nunieh, who was recently sacked by the Niger Delta Minister, Godswill Akpabio, accused him of corruption, gross abuse of office by awarding 30 contracts to himself and requesting the sack of some officials who opposed his decisions in the commission. In a video making rounds online, Dr Joy is seen telling journalists how Godswill Akpabia on the first day of resumption at the NDDC headquarters, was awarded 30 contracts running into billions of naira. Trying to oppose him, the former governor of Akwa Ibom and now Minister, threatened to sack her if she refuses to dance to his tune. According to her, "nobody makes any sort of payment in the Niger Delta Development Commission without Godswill Akpabio's approval. "On the day of inauguration, he said to me in the car, 'Madam MD, if you do not do what I say, the same pen I used to sign your paper is the same I will use to remove you. She also recounted how Akpabio manipulated her into going to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, to change the dollars in the NDDC account. "I refused out of fear and he claimed that I have a poverty mentality for me to be afraid of money." She continued to expose Godswill Akpabio & the scam going on inside the NDDC on how the commission paid over N1bn to just 4000 of its staff as COVID19 palliatives, while hungry Nigerians were left with nothing. N86m was spent on overseas travels alone, from February to May, despite the lockdown. The former Ag MD leveled the shocking allegation on Akpabio after appearing before the Senate and ad hoc committee investigating the fraud in NDDC.

Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has stated that embattled former acting chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu never worked for President Muhammadu Buhari. What is happening to Magu today was planned years ago. The real target is not Magu but those he worked for and protected for the last 4 years. He NEVER worked for Buhari. He worked for Tinubu & Osinbajo. When they finish crushing him they will move against his two godfathers.https://mobile.twitter.com/realFFK/status/1282366808520105991

A house called the "HOUSE OF DEATH", belonging to millions of gods in Amaigbo Umu-Anu in imo state, which is not known by most people. The most fearful thing about the house is that it has no entrance, no gate. I mean just a fence built around the building with no entrance into the building. The man who built the house you see on the picture was unknown to the villagers till date. No one lives in the house, but at night their will be light in the house without NEPA or EDDC electric Cable's attached to the house, or even a sound of a generator from the house. In 2012, a young boy called Ebuka Ikechuku was inquisitive to know what is inside the house, immediately he jumped in from the fence and entered the "house of death", but did not make it out till date. Imagine a house that no bird's fly's over, and in 2010 the Imo state Aviation Center bans planes and helicopters from flying over the house. Even clothes been hanged within the house changes colour also. In 2005, it was also believed a woman who was pregnant, was standing near the window in the building crying, with blood on her face. When she closed back the window, till date no body knew how she vanished. In 2018, some children where playing football and mistakingly shoot the ball into the building, but the ball was thrown back to them. But the boy who shoot the ball into the building died at midnight that same night because the gods of the house demanded for the little boy by knocking at their door. The location of "the house of death" is at Amaigbo Umu-Anu near the school of health in Imo state.

Three hundred and fifty-six (356) soldiers are formally exiting the Nigerian Army citing “loss of interest”, PREMIUM TIMES can report, in a development insiders say is indicative of broken morale in the army. The army is currently engaged in various combat operations as insecurity worsens across the country. Many of the soldiers are among the troops engaged in the decade-long war against Boko Haram in the Northeast, while others are from various other formations across the country. But apart from the 356 who are leaving for losing interest in the army, 24 others are exiting because they want “to take traditional title,” making a total of 380 soldiers, including two Master Warrant Officers and 28 Warrant Officers, voluntarily discharging from the army, according to sources with direct knowledge of the development. Already, the Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, has, this July, approved the voluntary discharge of all the 380 soldiers who are to proceed on terminal leave on December 20 and disengage on January 3 next year in accordance with Nigerian Army Administrative Policy and Procedure 27 Paragraphs 3 and 4, our sources confirmed. “That the reason given by most of them is ‘loss of interest’ is an indication of low morale in the army due to poor leadership,” one army insider said, claiming the army had been “broken, demoralised and polarised more than ever before under Buratai.” “It is an indication of the rot in the system,” said another officer who knew about the mass disengagement. More than those enduring the long official process to exit the army, many soldiers have deserted the army especially from among the troops combating Boko Haram in the Northeast, sources in the frontline said. At various times, commanders and soldiers have appeared in videos complaining about logistical support and equipment available to them to combat the terrorists in a war that has in ten years precipitated a humongous humanitarian disaster in the Lake Chad region, displacing millions of people and killing thousands. In one case, a former commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Olusegun Adeniyi, appeared in a rare video admitting soldiers were outgunned by the terrorists. In that video, March this year, Mr Adeniyi could be seen among disorganised troops decrying losses of men and equipment in a particular encounter with Boko Haram, who were “facing us” from “every flank with not less than15 gun trucks.” Mr Adeniyi was swiftly removed from his position after the video emerged, with the current commander, Faruq Yahaya, taking over. On Tuesday, troops of 25 Brigade on patrol were ambushed by terrorists on Damboa-Maiduguri Road. In the ensuing fight, 37 soldiers were killed in action and “about 60” unaccounted for, according to security sources briefed following the losses, which also included nine gun trucks. “Tempers were rising amongst the troops of 25 Task Force Brigade,” a source in the frontline said after the attack on Tuesday, before “the efforts to calm the situation.” However, the military officially told the public only two soldiers died, while 17 terrorists were killed. “That official press release is a total lie to preempt the press,” one army source said. The source said the misrepresentation to avoid having to answer questions about the use of heavy funds and also to prevent renewed calls for the removal of the service chiefs. Apart from the Northeastern anti-terrorism operations, the army, alongside the airforce, is combatting the spiralling armed violence from rural banditry and farmer-herdsmen conflict in the Northwest and Northcentral. In these areas, the exacerbating insecurity appears to have gone beyond the constabulary capacities of the police. Even in the Southeast, the army has been involved in federal efforts to stop the secessionist threats; and in the Niger Delta, it helps in protecting oil and gas infrastructure. Meanwhile, apart from the 380 soldiers voluntary exiting the army, mostly for losing interest, six others are being discharged based on the recommendation of the armed force’s medical board. Thus, a total of 386 soldiers are disengaging – and 356 among them have opted out over “loss of interest” amid morale crisis in the service. Units and formations have been directed to recover all military items from the affected soldiers, who are to report to the army headquarters for documentation by October 20 and complete forms to make withdrawals from various contributory schemes. Many more have deserted without any official process, according to our sources. “They just abandoned their guns and uniforms and ran away,” one source said. The spokesperson for the army, Musa Sagir, denied claim of low morale in the army. “The Nigerian Army is in very high morale,” he said. He added that the army is “very well” prosecuting all the operations it is involved in whether “the insurgency in the Northeast and banditry in the Northwest.” He said there was no mass disengagement happening in the army. But PREMIUM TIMES reviewed documents and spoke with sources, contradicting Mr Sagir’s position.

Monday, 5th July, Nigeria's N0 1 spymaster, Ibrahim Magu was intercepted in traffic in Abuja, by the Department of Security Services, DSS and driven to the presidential villa under still veiled circumstances. News that Magu was arrested sent the country in a frenzy of debates for a couple of hours until the DSS diffused the tension by issuing a statement that Ibrahim Magu was only 'invited' and not arrested. Those in the know of the workings of the DSS, argue that an invitation by the security agency is actually an arrest. By the morning of this report, news frittered out that the embattled crime Czar was held in custody overnight at the Force CID, Area 10 in Abuja on orders from above. Ibrahim Magu has been in a long battle of wills with the Attorney General of the federation, Abubakar Malami. The AGF had a couple of weeks ago, accused the EFCC boss of corruption and insubordination. Emerging reports have revealed that the Malami vs Magu battle line is a result of a high level powerplay which has spanned many years. It will be recalled that the 8th senate led by Bukola Saraki refused to confirm Magu as substansive EFCC chairman based on a report from the DSS which allegedly accused Magu of fraudulent activities. Magu however could not be shaken and remained the acting Chairman of the agency for five years running. Why did Magu last so long despite the alleged allegations of corruption? Abba Kyari 1. Sources indicate that Magu was able to retain his position because he allegedly had the backing of Chief of Staff, it is widely believed that the late Abba Kyari as his 'godfather' protected him against all allegations leveled against him. 2. Buhari President Buhari fully believed that Magu was gaining grounds in his fight against corruption. On resumption of office, Buhari's cardinal agenda was to bring corruption to its knees. Magu, through his initiative, the Whistle blower policy, seemed to have been helping the president achieve his dream of ridding Nigeria of corrupt elements and corruption. Magu went to town as the 'Mayor' who blasted all corrupt elements and fished them from their hideouts. Initially, he made some giant strides, arresting alleged looters of public funds and their hidden money. He seemed to be able to sniff the wads of notes whereever they were hidden. The spymaster dug out hundreds of millions from septic tanks, holes dug in farmlands, airconditioned containers and apartments. His hugest find was the millions of dollars and pound sterling found in an Ikoyi flat but that became the beginning of criticisms as the controversial operation begged more questions than were answered. The money which was recovered in a flat on Osbourne road Ikoyi, summed at, $43.4m, £27,800, N23.2m. It turned out the flat belonged to a former PDP chairman, Adamu Muazu who quickly released a statement that though he built the house, he has since sold it. The Federal Government however tactfully claimed ownership saying the money belonged to the National Intelligence Agency and stashed there by the former DG of the agency, Ambassador Ayo Oke. Accordingly, the President inaugurated a three-man Committee comprising the Hon. Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, and the National Security Adviser, headed by the Vice President, to conduct an investigation into the circumstances in which the NIA came into possession of the funds, how and by whose or which authority the funds were made available to the NIA, and to establish whether or not there has been a breach of the law or security procedure in obtaining custody and use of the funds. Mr Oke came under hot fire but till date Nigerians are still in a haze as to what really happened to the money. People began to question Magu's mode of operation, his penchant for media trial of alleged looters and inability to get as much convictions in court. He began to lose public appeal and the decent continued. 3. Over Bloating Figures It was becoming clear to Nigerians that Magu was allegedly exaggerating recovered loot as the declared figures published conflicted those released by the government and people began to question why government needed to borrow so much while Magu the star spymaster had declared even more money than what government was borrowing. People began to doubt Magu's integrity. 4. Tinubu However far fetched it sounds, there are those who believe that Ibrahim Magu is a 'Tinubu boy'. These people argue that with Tinubu's influence waning in the helms of affairs of the All People's Congress, APC, Magu's days in the EFCC are numbered. 5. Arrogance Magu was almost untouchable for the most part of his career and it is generally believed the he became arrogant and careless. Renting a house at N20m annually, paying N40m upfront, furnishing it with N43m and allegedly paying through a crony, allegedly living a lavish lifestyle and more recently allegedly hiring a private jet to Dubai during lockdown without due process are some of the excuses his critiques point out. His running battle with the Attorney General who has accused him of insurbodination was somewhere waiting to be dug out at the appropriate time and with a new power block at the Aso Villa, the AGF did not waste time opening the EFCC's cupboard allegedly full of skeletons. Indeed, Prof. Femi Odekunle, a professor and member of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, insinuated in a statement on Monday that the Attorney General was using a power block in the presidency to fight his 'war' against the EFCC boss: "The alleged originating Malami memo, up to the current “arrest “ seems an outcome of power-play by power blocs in the corridors of power in which Malami appears to be an arrow-head or major agent of a power bloc that is not really interested in, or in support of, Buhari’s anti-corruption fight,” Odekunle said. It is noteworthy that the anti-graft boss was not driven to the DSS headquaters after his arrest but to the presidential villa where the DSS said he was taken to answer allegations of money laundering. Can Ibrahim Magu survive this latest arsenal? More importantly, is he on his way to jail as many analysts are predicting? With reports that he has been advised to step aside making the rounds, this may well be the end of Ibrahim Magu at the EFCC.
