The leader of INRI evangelical spiritual church, Primate Elijah Ayodele has issued a warning as Nigeria celebrates her 60th independence anniversary. Primate Ayodele warned that “God is angry with President Muhammadu Buhari’s government” due to some of the activities of his administration. He stated loss of lives, disbelief in God, injustice and bad treatment of the electorates by those in government as the sins of the present government which has brought God’s anger on them. The Prophet also made it known that he doesn’t see Nigeria as one nation in 2035, adding that the vision 2050 that is being projected is fake. It would be recalled that at the moment, some Yoruba groups are clamouring for secession of Oduduwa Republic. While reacting to this, Primate Ayodele made it known that Biafra and Oduduwa Republic are here to stay except God intervenes. He urged President Buhari to be conscious and get a hold of his government. ‘‘Nigeria will break, God is angry with Buhari’s government, Blood is too much, life has been lost and Nigeria is sitting on a gun powder, this government don’t believe in God, they believe in their wisdom, those in government are governing themselves, Buhari isn’t in grip of his government . “God is angry because there are lots of injustice, difficulties and bad treatment of electorates, God will soon respond, what will happen is Nigeria will be divided “I am not seeing Nigeria as one nation in 2035, and vision 2050 is a fake vision “Biafra and Oduduwa nation have come to stay, nobody can stop it except God,’’ he said.

A pro-Biafra group, the Biafra Nations Youth League (BNYL), has formed an alliance with southern Cameroon’s separatist group, Ambazonia, in their quest for secession from their respective countries to become independent nations. Leaders of the two groups addressed the press as they rose from BNYL’s convention in Enugu, at the weekend. BNYL leader, Princewill Chimezie said that the collaboration of the two agitating groups had been on for a long time but was being re-engineered to give stronger voice for their self-determination pursuits. Chimezie disclosed that the Enugu convention worked out new strategies for engendering self-defence mechanisms for Biafrans and Ambazonians in the escalating security challenges faced by the people of Eastern Nigeria and Southern Cameroon. Noting that Biafra struggle was not an Igbo affair; he stated that BNYL was a multi-national pro-Biafra group with membership drawn from all the ethnic nationalities in the former Eastern Nigeria that were parts of the defunct Republic of Biafra led by General Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu between 1967 and 1970. “We resolved to defend ourselves by any means possible and we are not afraid to say that because we can’t continue to sit down and watch enemies massacre our people. I am afraid we may resort to guerrilla movement. We have been most prominent in the Bakassi areas where we developed partnership with Ambazonia because we found out that Biafra has a similar problem with Southern Cameroon. “Ambazonia needs our help just as we need theirs. We have both had affinity to achieve independence in different ways and the collaboration is meant to hear one another’s cry”, Chimezie stated. Spokesman of the Ambazonia’s representatives and President of Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA) in Calabar, Cross River State, Enow Arrey, said he was a refugee in Nigeria because of the horrible killings of Ambazonians of southern Cameroon. Arrey said: “I found out that my brothers in Nigeria have the same problem with Southern Cameroon people. My mission is to speak that Africa has the right to decolonize their place. We’ve decided that our people must be one as they were before colonization. “UNIA will support the Biafra movement before we can deserve respect. We are fighting for peace in Cameroon and if that peace needs a separate state, we will do that. The peace is either for federalism or separation, just like we are in support of self-defence.” Daily Sun gathered that collaboration between the two separatist groups was consummated at the ‘Ekukunela declaration’ in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State in 2016.

The Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has said Nigeria may break up if efforts are not made to address the cracks. He said efforts to mend the crack may be opposed, but such opposition would be defeated with focus and consistent prayers. Osinbajo gave the warning on Sunday in Abuja at an interdenominational church service to commemorate Nigeria’s 60th Independence anniversary. The Vice-President was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, at the National Ecumenical Centre, where the anniversary service held. In attendance were representatives of the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; Head of Service of the Federation, Folashade Yemi- Esan; permanent secretaries, military officials, members of the diplomatic community and other senior government officials. Referencing the biblical story of how Nehemiah championed the rebuilding of the broken walls of Jerusalem, Osinbajo said, “The story should be a challenge to every Christian in Nigeria. It’s only that kind of Nehemiah’s love that will make us, as Nigerians, to rebuild the cracks we have in our walls today. “For us in Nigeria, Nehemiah should be taken as a metaphor for those Nigerians who either reside in Nigeria or outside, to cry to God to use the abandoned opportunities in Nigeria to address our challenges of nation building. “Fortunately for us, our walls are not yet broken but there are obvious cracks that could lead to a break if not properly addressed. “Nehemiah started with fervent prayers, seeking the face of God and pleaded with his king to allow him return to Jerusalem to rebuild the broken walls because wall signifies peace, security, contentment and prosperity. It signifies the essence of the state of the nation. “There’s an urgent need for a Nehemiah in our country, Nigeria, today. And like Nehemiah faced opposition in his efforts to rebuild the walls, any Nigerian that desires to rebuild Nigeria must also be ready to face stiffer opposition which will come in torrents. It can only be diffused by consistent focus and prayers.” The Vice-President, however, expressed optimism that the 60th Independence anniversary could herald a rebirth Nigeria, saying “no group is more prepared for this task than our religious bodies.” The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Dr Samson Ayokunle, in his sermon titled, ‘The crucial need to attain greatness at 60’, stressed the need for justice, which, he said, would bring peace, tolerance and love. “For us all to be on the same page, have sense of belonging and be happy, the doctrine of equality, that is equal access to employment, governance and education, must be available to all. The principle of inclusivity must be adopted. Nobody or region must be excluded from the scheme of things in Nigeria.” https://lk.phx.ninja/1E1G

The Trade Union Congress, TUC, has blasted the Head of Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi Esan for warning civil servants against participating in the planned nationwide strike proposed by Organised Labour. TUC Chairman in Kogi State, Comrade Ranti Ojo, while speaking to DAILY POST on Sunday, 24 hours to the proposed nationwide protest, insisted that the Federal Government has no right to threaten workers who are fighting for their rights in the country. Comrade Ojo lamented the poor standard of living of many workers stressing that Nigeria is not a banana republic people can not speak when their rights are infringed on. He said there is no going back on Monday’s nationwide protest, admonishing workers across the 774 Local Government in the Country to disregard the warning coming from the Head of Service. Comrade Ojo explained that many top politicians revolted against former President Jonathan when he increased the pump price of petrol. “They were the ones that championed that protest castigating the administration of Johnathan for increasing the price of petrol. Now that they are ruling, the rhythm has changed. The price of petroleum at that time and now is doubled. “The Head of Service knows she is not using her personal money to buy fuel in her car or pay the light bill. This is not what President Buhari promised us when we elected him in 2015. Nigerians are suffering, people are dying every day. Instead of this government to come up with palliatives that would reduce the suffering of the masses as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, they are inflicting more pain on the people. “This is total wickedness on the part of this government. Provided we are not violating the law of the land, the nationwide protest and strike will hold. Nothing can stop us. Here in Kogi, we have mobilised our workers for the mother of all protests on Monday. When asked if the strike would still hold after a court order restraining the NLC and TUC from embarking on any form of industrial action pending the hearing and determination of a motion on notice, comrade Ojo said” labour is yet to receive or see any court order to that effect. “We don’t know what the court order entails. But one thing stands clear, we are not in a banana republic. This nation is governed by law and I know the supreme law of the land is the Nigeria constitution. I know the constitution has given not only the labour organization but all citizens of this country the right to protest. It is not the first time this is happening. “There was a time under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, the Federal Government took the case to court. The Federal Government was represented by Afe Babalola (SAN), while the labour movement was represented by Femi Falana, (SAN). In that ruling by the supreme court, it was expressly stated that the right of citizens to protest cannot be caged. The court also affirmed that the act of protest is lawful. ‘We are standing under the platform of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which is binding on every individual, including Mr President and the Head of Service. We as the labour movement, we are law-abiding. Like I told you, we have not been served, we have not seen any order and we don’t know what the ruling contains. “At the state council, we take directives from the National secretariat. We are mobilizing our members and we are battle-ready to hit the streets on Monday to protest the satanic act of the present administration.

The recent increase in the electricity tariff in the country has been greeted with overwhelming condemnation from most Nigerians. In fact, the planned indefinite strike organised by the NLC/TUC has been at the instance of the increases in fuel pump prices and that of electricity. Nigerians are more pained, owing to the challenges they are just gradually overcoming as a result of the pandemic. The meaning of tariff increase to most Nigerians is, paying more for darkness. This we never bargained for, in this country. In my area, we have been paying heavily to repair the twenty-year old transformer. We hardly get PHCN staff to come to our aid; but they never failed to bring their bills, every month. But what has been a way out of this unfair treatment by the distribution companies is to opt for the pre-paid meter. With prepaid meter, you only pay for the electricity you consume. Some of their staff, who profit from disconnecting the light of those, that owe current charges are not happy with prevalence of the prepaid meter. So, some of them are out to discourage consumers from getting the meter, by making the process look so cumbersome. Presently, a single face pre paid meter goes for 50,000 naira, while double face is sold for 90,000 naira, excluding connection cost. I just want to advise that, you should just opt for the prepaid meter. Now, it worths the struggle Feel free to ask questions or give your observations on the article. The requirements are as follow: (a) The owner of the property should present evidence of payment of land use charge. (b) The owner of the property should provide means of identification. (c) A passport photograph of the owner of the property (d) The bill of the analogue meter must be provided. Right now, the distribution companies are eager to install the meter, maximum of two weeks after payment. More so, the good news is that, you can clear up to 50% of the debt on your bill and you will be given the meter. The remaining 50% payment can be spread over. As you recharge, little amount will be deduct, to make up for the balance.

The recent hike in the pump price of petrol and increase in electricity tariff, commerical sex workers in Onitsha, the capital of Anambra state under the platform of Self-Made Women of Substance have threatened to embark on indefinite strike. Uto Nwanyi, one of the leaders of the platform who claimed to be the patron said the recent hikes came when they are yet to recover from the effects of coronavirus. “The issue of Coronavirus started in March this year, and lasted for four months. Throughout the period, our members went out of business; no patronage of any kind; none of our members was able to meet up with personal needs,” Uto Nwanyi lamented. “When we were yet to recover from the Coronavirus, the Federal Government came up with their pump price increment. Electricity companies also came up with tariff hike. This led to increase in house rent, transportation and general cost of living. The situation bites us more than it affects any other group in Nigeria. Therefore, we are of the opinion that the situation be reversed within seven days,” she said. Uto Nwanyi, flanked by another colleague, identified simply as Phina, said if the Federal Government fails act fast in bringing the prices down, they would be left with no other option than to mobilise for strike. “If that is not done, we shall mobilise our members for indefinite strike from October 1. If our strike fails to achieve its purpose, we shall go back to work, and increase service charge to as much as 200 per cent. After COVID-19, we reduced our service charge to N1,500 for short-time and N5,000 for day break, but with this development, we shall also review our service charge.” she added.

Polytechnic lecturer was sacked Mr Ajadi, a lecturer at the department of urban and regional planning, faculty of environmental studies, reportedly sexually harassed 31-year-old Modinat Balogun. Fresh facts have emerged on why the management of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Friday, September 11, terminated the appointment of a chief lecturer and former chairperson of the institution’s chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Kelani Ajadi. Prior to his sack, Mr. Ajadi had been placed on an indefinite suspension since 2019 which lasted 17 months. While on suspension, the lecturer was paid half of his salary. Investigations by PREMIUM TIMES revealed that Mr. Ajadi, a lecturer at the department of urban and regional planning, faculty of environmental studies, reportedly sexually harassed 31-year-old Modinat Balogun. Ms Balogun was popularly known as Nifemi on the campus. In some recorded telephone conversations, which went viral in 2019, and which were obtained by PREMIUM TIMES, the lecturer had engaged in altercations with a woman over the sexual harassment allegation. The woman, known as Mrs Bello, and later found to be the female student’s aunt, had threatened on the phone to expose the lecturer. The woman, known as Mrs Bello, and later found to be the female student’s aunt, had threatened on the phone to expose the lecturer. “My daughter said you have been sleeping with her, yet you failed her twice. I have almost killed her, and I’m coming to the school on Monday to let the whole world know the type of lecturer you are…” Mrs Bello threatened in the clip. Meanwhile, in another recording, the same lecturer’s voice is heard confiding what transpired between him and the female student in a woman who was later identified as Ms Bunmi. The latter is said to be a policewoman reportedly attached to the special investigation bureau located within the police headquarters, Eleyele, in Ibadan. In the audio recording, the lecturer confided in the policewoman that the female student was her girlfriend but accused her of transferring N100,000 from his account. He sought the assistance of the officer in getting her arrested. Mr. Ajadi, who did not deny the contents of the audio recordings, told our reporter that his phone was stolen in 2018, and that the contents shared via social media might have been doctored. According to the polytechnic’s spokesperson, Adewole Soladoye, the embarrassment the development caused the institution had informed the management’s decision to set up both an investigative panel and a disciplinary committee to look into the matter. “This matter had been on for over a year. It took this long so that the truth could be unraveled, and at the end of the day, the lecturer was found guilty,” Mr Soladoye told this newspaper on the phone. Meanwhile, a statement issued by the polytechnic’s registrar, Modupe Fawale, a copy of which PREMIUM TIMES obtained, noted that a letter announcing the lecturer’s sack was dated September 15. According to the registrar, the letter of termination of appointment, which was addressed to Mr Ajadi, had read in part; “You will recall that you were engaged in inappropriate behaviour and a poorly managed relationship with your former student. These resulted in embarrassing and tarnishing the image of your employer, The Polytechnic, Ibadan (TPI). “You will also recall your responses and appearances before the investigation panel and senior staff disciplinary committee that looked into the above matters. After a careful consideration of the issues above, the governing council found you guilty as your activities amount to misconduct. “The governing council, therefore, approved the termination of your appointment with effect from Friday, September 11, 2020.” But Mr Ajadi has denied the allegation and vowed to challenge the decision in court. He told this newspaper on the phone that he had already briefed his lawyer. How it all started According to the student, her trouble started as soon as Mr Ajadi was appointed her project supervisor in the 2015/2016 academic session. She said even after consenting to his alleged “persistent sexual demand,” the lecturer allegedly continued to frustrate her, “so that our amorous relationship could continue unending.” Having failed to complete her project for about two sessions, Ms Balogun disclosed that the lecturer, again, in 2018 agreed to let her go, “as long as I cooperated.” She said; “So, one day he helped me to print my questionnaire and said I should bring them to his quarters in the night. But on that day, I went to the hospital for a toothache that was disturbing me and I told him I would not be able to make it on that day, but my lecturer begged me and insisted I should come. “In fact, that night, he came to pick me at the school gate. But the pain persisted and I begged him to just check my work and should allow me to sleep. But in the middle of the night he insisted he must sleep with me.” Ms Balogun disclosed that at a stage he pushed Mr. Kelani to the wall forcefully and she had thought the man had passed out. “But as soon as he recovered, he continued to disturb me, begging me to allow him sleep with me.” She said she was shocked at the nonchalant attitude shown by the lecturer concerning her toothache and demanded that he should give her N100,000. “I wanted to use the money to scare him, but surprisingly he agreed to pay. So I gave him my account but because I was using a student account, I couldn’t receive up to N100,000,” she said. As a way out, the student said she insisted the money should be sent to her cousin, Oluwatosin Ayanmo’s Guaranty Trust Bank account. “He said he had sent it but I said there was no way I could confirm from the account owner that night, and that nothing would happen between us until morning when it is confirmed.” She said when the lecturer insisted, she ran out of the room and moved to the sitting room and locked the door against the lecturer. “I slept on the couch in the sitting room that night, but by early in the morning when he was going to the mosque, Mr. Ajadi forced the door open and said I should confirm with the owner of the account before he came back. So he locked the door against me and left for the mosque,” she said. She said she quickly took the backdoor to escape. “I quickly ran home in Lagos, and narrated the whole experience. And that was what caused the telephone conversation between my “mum” and Mr Ajadi.” The police connection: The student said the lecturer lodged a complaint at a police station and the bank was informed of the transaction, leading to “Pay no debit (PND)” order placed on the account. She said the account owner could not withdraw below N100,000 from the account. “But because we aren’t interested in the money, we were not bothered.” However, on April 27, 2019, Ms Balogun was arrested in Ibadan allegedly by officers from the special unit at Eleyele, where she said she was remanded till May 2, 2019, when she was charged to court. “In fact, with a single underwear, I had my menstruation for more than two days while I was in their custody. I insisted I did not steal his money and narrated the whole story, but no pity until a Good Samaritan lawyer appeared for me,” she said. According to Ms Balogun’s lawyer -Ola Adeosun, an Ibadan-based human rights activist, his client was charged before Magistrate Giwa Babalola of Magistrates Court 5, Iyaganku. The lawyer said; “We immediately filed a no case submission in the court because we believed no prima facie case had been established against the student.” He said though the court overruled his submission and advised his client to open defence, the ruling has been appealed at a high court in the city. Mr Adeosun said the court sat last on February 12, but since the coronavirus outbreak, he said no date has been fixed for the matter. Management victimising me -Lecturer In his reaction to the sack, Mr. Ajadi said that he is being victimised by the institution’s management over his position as a union leader. In a telephone interview with our reporter, Mr. Ajadi said that he has documents to back his claim but insisted he could not transmit them to the newspaper electronically. He said; “I cannot tell you that the recordings being circulated are entirely mine. The reason is because I lost my phone in 2018 and I reported at a police station. So by 2019 I was surprised to see the recordings being played around. So, who said they have not doctored it?” He said that his lawyer is already preparing to file the matter in court, saying he will fight the decision to a logical conclusion. But the polytechnic’s public relations officer, Mr. Soladoye, said the institution took the step to save its image and assure anyone harassed or molested “whether students or staff or any of the members of the community” of adequate protection

The Punch reported Oshiomhole as saying that life is not all about winning every time and that losing is also part of life. He stressed that he will not give up on the country's democracy. According to Oshiomhole, who spoke on the outcome of the Edo State Gubernatorial election that many voters were frustrated by faulty card readers. He expressed how he was inspired by the aged and nursing mothers who endured the harshness of the weather to cast their votes. He's quoted as saying: 'If septuagenarians were not frustrated because their card readers are not working, it inspired me that if at their age they don't give up, why should I give up?' Oshiomhole encourages the people to have faith in our country, Nigeria and that we are not going to have another one. 'This is our country and we must make it great. We must strengthen democracy, we must improve on it. No matter the outcome of an election, or a particular edition of a process, have faith in God and have faith in our country.' Oshiomhole, however, debunked the rumours that he has been weakened based on the outcome of the just concluded Edo State Gubernatorial election. He says, A lot of people will be thinking now that Comrade must be down, but I am not down. 'When God says you are not down, you are not down and I am not down.'

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in last Saturday’s governorship election, in Edo State, Pastor Ize-Iyamu, has called on Governor Godwin Obaseki to return to APC. In a television broadcast last night, Ize-Iyamu said, “We are going to talk to everybody. We are going to bring everybody back. I want to salute my brother, the Governor. I will like to appeal to him to return to the party. In every family, we have a disagreement. “Let it not be said that it was this disagreement that pushed him out. I made that mistake before and I have come to realise that it was a grievous error and I will not want him as a senior brother to make the same mistake. “I will like to appeal to him to set aside his anger and come back. In APC, he is recognised as a leader and it would be difficult for him to be recognised as a leader in the new party he is going to. “Certainly, we are ready to work with him and all well-meaning Edo people. We believe it is time to bring peace back to Edo State.” Obaseki polled 307,955 votes to defeat Ize-Iyamu, who secured 223,619 votes in Saturday’s governorship election in the state.

This is the perfect example of when God serve you Chicken in front of your enemy while they struggle with their bone and garri. After disgracing Oshiomole and the APC Guber candidate Pastor Ize Iyamu at the recently conducted Election, the sitting Governor and newly Elected Governor is about to do something shocking. Mehn, there are level to this things and if this should eventually happen ehn, Nigerians won’t forget it any time soon. Well, I know the recent loser Pastor Ize Iyamu won’t allow that to happen – NEVER! Guys Do You Think This Makes Sense & You Want Gov. Obaseki To Go Ahead? |
The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has expressed his willingness to be magnanimous to the All Progressive Congress candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, who was his closest rival in the just concluded Edo state gubernatorial election. Obaseki who was the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and incumbent governor of Edo State, had on Saturday trounced his closest rival, Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the APC with 307,955 votes as against the latter’s 223,619 votes. The Governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki, has said that he has no plans to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and return to his former party, the All Progressive Congress (APC). Obaseki, following his disqualification by APC governorship election screening committee, had joined the PDP for his reelection bid and eventually emerged victorious, defeating his closest rival, Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the APC in Saturday’s election with 307,955 votes as against the latter’s 223,619 votes. Speaking during his appearance on the Morning Show on ARISE TV, the broadcast arm of THISDAY, the governor said he made promises to people of Edo as PDP candidate and it will be immoral and unfair to leave the platform given to him by the PDP to achieve his reelection bid. ”It’s not right to jettison them, I have no plan to return to APC.”

In anything you do in life, look for loyal and ever trusting men. When you are drowning they will reach out to save you. When the storms starts, they will shield you. When they are made offers to betray, their conscience wont allow them. You know why..? That’s Loyalty. The man we’re talking about is non-other but Governor Obaseki’s deputy. Comrade Philip Shaibu. Before Ize Iyamu was approached to decamp from PDP to APC to run the APC ticket. The offer was first made to Shaibu. He would have been the man challenging Obaseki today if he accepted Oshiomole’s offer. Shaibu said I cannot betray my boss Obaseki. He said him and Oshiomole have suffered oppression in their struggle for democracy and he wont dish out oppression to another man. He remained with Obaseki despite the pressure. Few weeks ago. The press man interviewing him asked him. What if you lose the election? He said he will rather lose honourably than betray his boss. He said he wont support the oppression of Obaseki. This comrade is a force in Edo State politics. Oshiomole fears him in rural politics. He was instrumental to Oshiomole all through his campaigns and tenure. He has stayed with Obaseki and refused decamping. He was silent all through the heat of this election working dangerously underground. Their efforts were cemented with U.S and UK visa ban which weakened the planned usual federal might Oshiomole was banking on. Comrade Shuaibu represents the man I will like to be to any politician I chose to support. Loyal men are rare. If you find one like Shaibu, hold him dearly. Well done to Shaibu. Congratulations to him and Obaseki.

President Muhammadu Buhari urged the World Bank to prioritise its developmental programmes across the northern parts of Nigeria, the bank’s President Jim Yong Kim said on Thursday. At a press briefing on the sidelines of the ongoing World Bank-IMF annual meetings in Washington, D.C., Mr. Kim said his organisation has largely complied with Mr. Buhari’s request, but also experienced some challenges in the process. “In my very first meeting with President Buhari he said specifically that he would like us to shift our focus to the northern regions of Nigeria and we’ve done that,” said Mr. Kim, who has led the World Bank since 2012. “Now, it has been very difficult. The work there has been very, very difficult,” he added. Mr. Kim was responding to a Nigerian reporter’s question on how the bank has supported Nigeria’s northeast, plagued by the Boko Haram insurgency. A transcript of Mr. Kim’s press briefing was published by the World Bank on Thursday. Presidential spokespersons, Femi Adesina and Garba Shehu, did not immediately respond to PREMIUM TIMES requests on whether the presidency had clarifications about the exchanges between Messrs. Buhari and Kim. Details of Mr. Buhari’s first meeting referenced by Mr. Kim could not be immediately retrieved. But the comments could bolster Mr. Buhari’s critics, who accuse the president of being sectional. In 2015, Mr. Buhari was ridiculed for telling a live audience during a visit to Washington that the regions that overwhelmingly voted for him should expect more from his government than the one that did not. “The constituents, for example, gave me 97% [of the vote] cannot in all honesty be treated on some issues with constituencies that gave me 5%,” Mr. Buhari said when he was asked about his administration’s policy of inclusiveness at the United States Institute of Peace July 22, 2015.

What effrontery does he have to write in from of a Nigeria's policewoman and she didn't arrest him or stop him from writing that. The Nigerian Police are to protect lives and property of Nigerians. Their sole responsibility is protection of lives and properties of the citizens. The police ought to stop him from writing it. Nigeria's President, Muhammad Buhari is a man from Northern region and he was Democratic elected president of Nigeria. Jonathan surrendered the government to him and Buhari won the second term election Nigerians are bitterly complaining about his government.

Former Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Dr Obadiah Mailafia has cried out that his life is in danger saying some powerful political forces want to silence him for life even as the Department of State Security has ordered him to appear before it for the third time on Monday. Also, Plateau State High Court sitting in Jos, presided over by Justice Musa Ashom has adjourned to 29th September 2020 for ruling on the application of the abuse of fundamental human rights by the Nigeria Police, Department of State Security and the federal government filed by Dr Obadiah Mailafia over constant harassment and invitation by the security agencies. According to the statement signed by Dr Mailafia and made available to Tribune Online, he pointed out that he has once again been ordered to appear before the DSS at their Jos HQ on Monday 14th September 2020 at 11.00 am adding the invitation was in addition to the battle at Jos High Court seeking a restraining order against the DIG Criminal Investigations Department (CID) who were after him. He lamented thus: “I spent over 20 years of my working life abroad as a university teacher, banker and international civil servant with an unblemished record. I have no criminal record – not even a parking ticket. Sadly, it is in my own fatherland that I’m being subjected to criminal investigation and such extreme political persecution. Please, pray for me. I have reasons to believe that my life is in danger and that some powerful political forces want to silence me forever. For speaking the truth. For speaking on behalf of the holy martyrs – of thousands of innocent children, women, elderly and youths that have been killed in our beloved country. “It is only in our benighted country that a man who speaks from his conscience can be hounded like a common criminal. Please, those of you in the Jos area or who can easily travel to Jos, please kindly mobilise and be there en masse to support me on Monday at 11.00 am as I go once again into the Lions’ den,” he pleaded. Dr Mailafia who said he was a believer in non-violence pleaded that no one should throw even a little stone on his behalf and charged his supporters to be candles of light and peace in this Age of Darkness. “Please, pray for me. I have reasons to believe that my life is in danger and that some powerful political forces want to silence me forever. For speaking the truth. President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, asked Nigerians to expect a further increase in the price of petrol, saying people would pay more as soon as the price of crude oil in the international market recovers. He also justified the latest increase in electricity tariff, which has raised so much dust in the polity. The President, who stated these at the First Year Ministerial Performance Review Retreat at State House Conference Centre, Abuja, said: “The COVID-19 pandemic, which has affected economies globally, has compelled us to make some far-reaching adjustments that may cause some initial pain, but which is necessary for long-term gains. “As you all know, when oil prices collapsed at the height of the global lock-down, we deregulated the price of premium motor spirit, PMS, such that the benefit of lower prices was passed to consumers. “This was welcome by all and sundry. The effect of regulation though is that PMS prices will change with changes in global oil prices. This means, quite regrettably, that as oil prices recover, we would see some increases in PMS prices.” ‘Negative consequences’ Continuing, President Buhari who was represented by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, said: “There are several negative consequences if the government should resume the business of fixing or subsidizing PMS prices. First of all, it would mean a return to the costly subsidy regime. “Today we have 60% less revenue, we just cannot afford the cost. The second danger is the potential return of fuel queues – which has, thankfully, become a thing of the past under this administration. “Nigerians no longer have to endure long queues just to buy petrol, often at highly inflated prices. Also, as I hinted earlier, there is no provision for fuel subsidy in the revised 2020 budget, simply because we are not able to afford it, if reasonable provisions must be made for health, education and other social services. We now have no choice. “Nevertheless, I want to assure our compatriots that government will remain alert to its responsibilities. The role of government now is to prevent marketers from raising prices arbitrarily or exploiting citizens. “This was why the Petroleum Product Pricing Regulatory Agency, PPPRA, made the announcement a few days ago, setting the range of price that must not be exceeded by marketers. “The advantage we now have is that anyone can bring in petroleum products and compete with marketers, that way the price of petrol will keep coming down.” ‘Why we hiked electricity tariff’ Justifying the increase in electricity tariff, Buhari said: “The other painful adjustment that we have had to make in recent days is a review of the electricity tariff regime. “If there is one thing we have heard over and over again, it is that Nigerians want consistent and reliable power supply. So the power sector remains a critical priority for the administration. “Protecting the poor and vulnerable, while ensuring improved service in the power sector, is also a major priority for the government. And our policies, like the social investment programmes and other socio-economic schemes to benefit Nigerians, show that we remain focused on improving the welfare of the common man. “The recent service-based tariff adjustment by the DISCOs has been a source of concern for many of us. Let me say frankly that like many Nigerians, I have been very unhappy about the quality of service given by the DISCOs. “That is why we have directed that tariff adjustments be made only on the basis of guaranteed improvement in service. Under this new arrangement, only customers who are guaranteed a minimum of 12 hours of power and above can have their tariffs adjusted. “Those who get less than 12 hours of supply (B and D and E Customers) will not see any tariff adjustment. The poor and underprivileged who were on R1 lifeline tariffs in the old structure will be maintained on lifeline tariffs, meaning that they will experience no increase. “Government has also taken notice of the complaints about arbitrary estimated billing. Accordingly, a mass metering programme is being undertaken to provide metres for over five million Nigerians, largely driven by preferred procurement from local manufacturers, creating thousands of jobs in the process. “NERC has also been instructed to strictly enforce the capping regulation which will ensure that unmetred customers are not charged beyond the metred customers in their neighbourhood. “In addressing the power problems, we must not forget that most Nigerians are not even connected to electricity at all. So, as part of the Economic Sustainability Plan, we are providing solar home systems to five million Nigerian households (impacting up to 25 million individual Nigerians) in the next 12 months. Solar power to complement supply “We have already begun the process of providing financing support through the CBN for manufacturers and retailers of Off-Grid Solar Home Systems and Mini-Grids who are to provide the systems. “The five million systems under the ESP’s Solar Power Strategy will produce 250,000 jobs and impact up to 25 million beneficiaries through the installation This means that more Nigerians will have access to electricity via a reliable and sustainable solar system.
