He was arrested over allegations that he owns four properties and that he was allegedly transferring funds abroad through a third party. Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, has been arrested by the Department of State Services. He was arrested at the Wuse II office of the DSS on Monday afternoon and is now undergoing interrogation at the DSS Headquarters In Aso Drive. The DSS in a 2016 report revealed that accused of living in a N40m mansion paid for by one Umar Mohammed, a retired air commodore who is allegedly involved in shady deals. “In December 2010, the Police Service Commission (PSC) found Magu guilty of action prejudicial to state security – withholding of EFCC files, sabotage, unauthorised removal of EFCC files and acts unbecoming of a police officer, and awarded him severe reprimand as punishment. “Magu is currently occupying a residence rented for N40m at N20m per annum. This accommodation was not paid [for] from the commission’s finances, but by one Umar Mohammed, air commodore retired, a questionable businessman who has subsequently been arrested by the secret service. “For the furnishing of the residence, Magu enlisted the Federal Capital Development Authority to award a contract to Africa Energy, a company owned by the same Mohammed, to furnish the residence at the cost of N43m. “Investigations show that the acting EFCC chairman regularly embarked on official and private trips through a private jet owned by Mohammed. “In one of such trips, Magu flew to Maiduguri alongside Mohammed with a bank MD who was being investigated by the EFCC over complicity in funds allegedly stolen by the immediate past petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke. “Furthermore, the EFCC boss has so far maintained a high-profile lifestyle. This is exemplified by his preference for first-class air travels. On 24 June, 2016, he flew Emirate airlines first-class to Saudi Arabia to perform lesser hajj at the cost of N2.9m. This is in spite of Mr President’s directive to all public servants to fly economy class. “Magu has fostered a beneficial relationship with Mohammed who by his confession approaches clients for possible exploitation, favours and associated returns,” the DSS report said. Magu is yet to be confirmed as the substantive chairman of the EFCC despite occupying the position in acting capacity for many years

They are called the Diffa Arabs of Niger republic |
Bendeco2020:They are not Fulani children. They are the Diffa Arabs from the eastern desert part of Niger republic, close to Libya, though the children are born here in Nigeria. Even in Niger republic, they don't like to intermarry the black nigeriens. Very proud people. The children go out for begging while the parents stay close-by watching from afar. In Niger, the Arab nomadic tribes are located in the eastern part of the country, mostly in the Diffa region. The Arabs in Niger are known as Diffa Arabs because of this. The Arabs of Niger practice Islam. They speak Arabic and came into Niger from Sudan and Chad at some point during the 19th century. In recent years the Arabs have come into conflict with other ethnic groups in the country, particularly the Hausa, Tuareg, and Kanuri. |

Fellow Ambazonians, 2nd July 2020, nine of our leaders in detention were invited to meet with a team from the government of La Republique du Cameroun (LRC), on initiating a ceasefire following the United Nation’s request to bring an end to the war in Ambazonia. The genocide in Ambazonia has earned the attention of the United Nations and the international community due to the atrocities committed by the army of La Republique du Cameroun. As no war has ever been wrapped up in the battlefield, our leaders in attendance were led by President Julius Ayuk Tabe. Real, sustainable peace and independence are a product of the negotiating table. The realization has dawned upon the regime in Yaoundé that the war on our people is counterproductive and a French Cameroun victory is candidly impossible. The Interim Government of Ambazonia has informed other front line movements of our struggle about this formal meeting. Despite this meeting being an initial confidence building procedure which is mandatory in all negotiations, our position on a negotiated ceasefire was made clear and unambiguous to the representatives of La Republique du Cameroun. Once significant progress is made, the Interim Government of Ambazonia will update Ambazonians. The Interim Government of Ambazonia is extremely indebted with the commitment and sacrifice of our ground zero heroes. For over four years, our mothers, fathers and children have been massacred indiscriminately but the resistance from our heroes with limited capital continues to give us hope as a nation. Let me use this opportunity to thank our people in Ambazonia for the sacrifice and commitment they have displayed over the last two weeks in their observation of Lockdowns. Fellow Ambazonians, the path to freedom and independence is always difficult but despite the current darkness, I see hope and a bright future. Our cardinal objectives are freedom and independence. Be reassured that we remain committed to the restoration of the independence of our homeland. Thank You Dabney Yerima Vice President Federal Republic of Ambazonia

The forthcoming Edo 2020 Governorship election is on the front burner. It's going to be an unprecedented interplay of political permutations and fireworks between the APC and the PDP. Pastor Ize Iyamu and the incumbent governor of Edo State will fight for the highest office in the state at the polls. It's a winner take all encounter Towards this end, APC has constituted a 49 man Committee headed by the governor of Kano State to spearhead the election in the state. The Ganduje group will slug it out with the Wike PDP parallel group for the soul of Edo State. One of the campaign posters PDP may use to discredit the candidature of Pastor Ize Iyamu who is facing trial for a N700m fraud is the assessment report of the contestant by the former governor of the state and the erstwhile National Chairman of the ruling party, Comrade Adams Oshiomole. He had labelled Ize Iyamu " thief" during the 2015 gubernatorial campaign in the State. This poster would be a powerful tool in the hands of the Wike group to dissuade the electorates from voting for Ize Iyamu The onus lies in the hands of the electorates to vote for the candidate of their choice. Politics uses game of numbers and antecedence .

What's is the problem with some girls? Over the years this particular question has been seeking for answer without any coming forth. Ladies who are supposed to guide the men when they are going astray are now the ones living most crazy and wayward life. In the pictures attached below you will see a young girl probably in her early 20s spending her little time on earth recklessly. We wasn't able to ascertain her true identity but in Nigeria most especially Igbo land, we see it as a taboo and Uncultured for a woman to smoke talk more of smoking in public and blow smokes like motor exhaust. Apart from the bad molar impact these behaviors had on our communities, scientifically smokes poses great health danger to us. Smoking Cigarette or any other hard drugs damages the liver/kidney as well as causes some chronic diseases. These calls for our young ladies to retrace their footsteps, this is not life any man would be proud of. Men out there are watching you and you will get married someday, who would be proud to marry such girl with the kind of attitude? On the other hands we implore our parents to invest more time in taking care of their female child, what they learned today will sustain them in their various families tomorrow. What are your thoughts concerning the issue?

Electricity: How To Fill Form For Collection Of Prepaid Meter, Requirements And Amount To Pay. The tariff increase in our electricity consumption is billed to take effect from July 1, 2020. This development is not in any way, acceptable to the consumers at all. But what do we have to say, when the government is even singing the same song with them. What the tariff increase means to many Nigerians is that, we are simply paying more for darkness. Consumers have become helpless, now that our government doesn't see anything untimely and unacceptable in the tariff increase. Well, we consumers are in the hands of God. Consumers pay for repair of transformers, pay for change of faulty cables and even bribe the PHCN officials to come for the installation on time. The prepaid meter being advertised by the electricity distributors are not in any free. But getting to their office recently, I got to know that, it will take you just maximum of two weeks to get a prepaid meter, be it single face or double face. What baffles me more is that, the costs of the prepaid meters have increased greatly. Now, single face prepaid meter goes for the sum of 50,000 naira excluding connection cost. The double face goes for the sum of 90,000 naira excluding connection cost. Requirements for collection of prepaid meter: (1) evidence of payment of the land use charge of the building; (2) means of identification of the owner of the property; (3) one passport photograph of the owner of the property; and (4) the bill of the analogue meter (if there is any). All you need to do is to apply on time. The joy of it is that, within two weeks you are very likely to get the meter. That is the best way to reduce the suffering we are experiencing on electricity consumption in Nigeria. With prepaid meter, you only pay for what you consume.

Ahmed Kurfi, a top member of the defunct Congress for Progressives Change (CPC), the party on whose platform President Muhammadu Buhari contested the 2011 presidential election, has made explosive revelations. Kurfi told Sun Newspaper that it was Col. Sambo Dasuki, a former National Security Adviser (NSA), who introduced Buhari to the then ACN leader, Bola Tinubu, prior to the poll. The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP) and Congress for Progressives Change (CPC), were the parties that formed the All Progressives Congress (APC). Former President Goodluck Jonathan, elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), appointed Dasuki as NSA on June 22, 2012. Kurfi revealed that he; Dasuki: Adamu Adamu, incumbent Minister of Education; Kabir Yusuf, Daily Trust publisher; and Wada Maida, ex-Chief Executive of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), visited Tinubu in Lagos before the 2011 general elections. Kurfi disclosed that he was central to the negotiation of CPC and ACN which later became APC. “I was the one who led the team that went to negotiate with Bola Tinubu,” the former CPC stalwart said. He stated that APC was a coalition of various interests that came together to form a political party for the purpose of power. The politician said looking deeply, Nigerians would find that the APC “is not a political party because all sorts of various political interests have come in”. Kurfi stated that there exists a long-standing ‘grudge’ between Buhari and Dasuki and that it was purely over ‘military matter’. Kurfi, ex-CPC Director of Research and Strategy, added that “Babangida also assisted Buhari with money for his elections.” He explained that this was during the campaign for Buhari in the ANPP and that Dasuki initiated the meeting. Kurfi said the he “was the one who made the arrangements and when we fly to Lagos. Sambo will make the necessary arrangements. But you know the military; it’s just like what Adamu Ciroma said in one of his many interviews”. “He (Ciroma) said they say Buhari is unforgiving and said why should he not forgive? He overthrew a democratically elected government and put Shagari in detention; so if you are removed by the same people you used to overthrow Shagari why should you complain?” Kurfi recalled that Dasuki was with them during campaigns around the country. He described Dasuki as someone with “a lot of networks. If you want a detribalized Nigerian that is Sambo. You will see him so comfortable with every Nigerian regardless of your tribe, religion or whatever.”

Abdullahi Bodejo, National President Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, on Saturday (yesterday), disclosed that ex-Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu will never succeed President Buhari in 2023 elections. Abdullahi Bodejo also declared why it would be hard for the Igbo's to become Nigeria President. Bodejo said that he does not believe in the revolution of power between the South and North as a result of the way Northerners were being handled in some parts of the nation. In his words yesterday; “Tinubu, Igbo will never be Nigeria President. Do you know that if you go to some parts in Southern Nigeria, if they see an Hausa man, they will say that the person is a Boko Haram member or they will say ‘Onye Hausa. That kind of antipathy has been there amidst the Southerners. It will be difficult for Igbo to rule Nigeria because they don't have something good in their minds. When asked if he knows whether Muhammadu Buhari would not have won the 2015 election without Bola Tinubu. He said; “I have earlier told you that 2015 is now story. All I know is that Tinubu cannot become the president of Nigeria. That is the fact. He is very old and maybe older than President Mohammadu Buhari. Some think that he is the Yoruba leader but he is not", he concluded. What's Your Suggestion?

The Nigerian kids famous for remaking multimillion-dollar music videos and movie trailers with household items may be heading to Hollywood. Members of Ikorodu Bois nabbed the opportunity Wednesday after the group shared on social media their homemade remake of the trailer for the Netflix movie, "Extraction." Undaunted by high-end productions, the Sanni brothers, Muiz, 15, and Malik,10 (with video-editing help from older brother, Babatunde), and their cousin, Fawas Aina, 13, filmed the trailer in their neighborhood in Ikorodu, a suburb in Lagos, using their ingenuity, the ever-present wheelbarrow, and some upcycled items, Once uploaded, they told their followers to share and tag lead actor Chris Hemsworth and Netflix to get their attention. Produced by the American duo, the Russo Brothers, "Extraction" features Hemsworth as Tyler Rake, a mercenary tasked with rescuing the teenage son of a jailed drug lord who is abducted by a rival boss. A couple of hours later, Netflix retweeted their post, saying, "LOVE THIS." The video also caught the attention of Hemsworth, who retweeted the video, commenting, "EPIC." But what really got their attention was the unexpected recognition from movie producers, the Russo Brothers, who shared the video and invited them to the premiere of "Extraction 2." In May, Joe Russo told Deadline that they had secured the deal to write a sequel. "This is awesome! We would love to have you guys at the #Extraction 2 premiere...DM us and we'll get you there!" they said in a tweet. The boys reacted with elation, saying the comments from the producers and Hemsworth were a dream come true. "This is the day we've been waiting for all our lives," they said in a tweet reply to the invitation. Babatunde Sanni, the 23-year-old who's the brain behind the group but doesn't appear in the video, said the trailer had taken them a month to make. "Some days we shoot but end up re-shooting just because we wanted to do our best," Babatunde Sanni told CNN. Chris Hemsworth kills a lot more than time in Netflix's 'Extraction' While the invitation marks a significant development for the kid sensations, it's not the first time their innovative videos have garnered notice. Since creating their Instagram page in 2017, they have amassed more than 600,000 followers. Some of their content has gone viral, and they've collected kudos from big stars including actor Will Smith, Netflix "Money Heist" actor Alvaro Monte and rapper Roddy Rich. Babatunde Sanni told CNN it was rewarding to see all their hard work pay off. "We are so happy people are getting to know us globally," he said.

Former President Of Nigeria Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday warned again of a possible collapse of Nigeria, if the Buhari administration looked on while the country lapses into various insurrections and criminalities. Obasanjo stated that the Buhari government should restructure the country to assuage ill-feelings from contending interests, expressing worry that the federal government appeared overwhelmed by the state of insecurity in the country. The former president restated his position while delivering a lecture on “COVID-19 Pandemic and Nigeria Security Issues”, at the 2020 Sobo Sowemimo Annual Lecture, organised by Abeokuta Club in Abeokuta. Obasanjo said the growing incidence of insurgent attacks, cattle rustling, kidnapping, robberies and the like, were clear indication that all was not well with Nigerian. “Let me lay more emphasis on the issue of security, which, in itself, is serious enough to make restructuring imperative. “The South-West governors cried out and devised ‘Amotekun’ as a solution or part-solution. We are yet to see how successfully that will be operated. “Other zones are clamouring for a solution because in no state and in no geopolitical zone is life and property safe and secure. “Criminality is the order of the day. And it cuts across the entire nation. Insecurity is one issue of commonality among Nigerians, no matter their tribe, language, religion, geographical location, gender, age or social position. “If we are all held hostage by criminality of Boko Haram, terrorists, herdsmen/farmers, bandits, kidnappers, militants, armed robbers, then we all have common ground to seek common solution by putting aside governance collapse, incompetence, failure, insincerity and insensitivity and chart a new stable, enduring and generally sustainable basis and platform for the Nigeria federation. “My personal conviction is that, with the experience we have had operating the current Constitution where we have seen some important aspects of the Constitution being breached willfully and wantonly, and with the centre seemingly being overwhelmed by the issue of security, with crying need from different quarters for reform of the basic structure of Nigeria’s federating units, there is need for the repositioning of our country for the purpose of unity, equity, competence, good governance, security, stability, healthy competition, justice, fast socio-economic development and making Nigeria undisputed regional leader.” Obasanjo particularly pointed out to President Buhari that even in the latter’s northern domain, there is growing disquiet over persistent insecurity. “The Northern Elders Forum, through its spokesperson, Akeem Baba Ahmed, had declared President Buhari a failure on account of persistent insecurity within the nation. “I leave out economy, which is in the doldrums, and fighting corruption where you see more heat than light and which is festering like a bad sore. “Leaders in politics, private sector, religion, traditional institutions and civil society have cried out against pervasive insecurity in our land. “Salihu Garba, in his open letter to Arewa governors and legislators, has a lot to say. “But he begins with, ‘Only insane people can sit and watch their people being killed, women and young girls raped, and sons abducted by some ragtag bandits, kidnappers or insurgent group, whose motivations have been built on demonic ideology, easy access to firearms and our collective failure in providing the desired community-based shepherd leadership and a fit-for-purpose security system’.” He said Garba cautioned the North on excessive dependence on the Federal handouts and security agents, and that he raised a number of issues and made suggestions that are in the domain of devolution and restructuring with collaboration, cooperation and solidarity. Obasanjo said: “No one in his or her right senses will go against most of the points Salihu raised in his letter to strengthen Nigerian unity and oneness and enhance performance through devolution and restructuring.” Warning also that bleak future awaits the country, owing to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the former President counseled that six areas needed quick attention. 1.The first is food availability and security. 2.The second is employment and job security. 3.The third is change in the pattern and style of living, including travelling. 4. The fourth is innovation, science, technology, digitalisation and artificial intelligence. 5. The fifth is local content, raw materials and substitutes. 6. The sixth is diversification of the economy and enhancement of export commodities. “It is up to us to take these six areas very seriously. With good leadership and right policy and with the public and private sectors working together, and the civil society joining hand, all the six areas can be taken care of and we can safely put the pandemic behind and move the country forward,” the former president said. According to him, “For us in Nigeria, we have no alternative but to get it right, otherwise, the future will be worse than the present that is uncertain and bleak with economic downturn and pervasive insecurity.” Speaking, the President of Abeokuta Club, Mr. Tokunbo Odebunmi remarked that the Coronavirus disease was a global concern and that grim figures were presented daily, stating that this demands the input of all stakeholders. The Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, Prof Adewale Musa-Olomu, lamented that owing to the disruption in academic activities by the COVID-19 pandemic, no medical student would be graduating this year. He said this did not augur well for a country in need of more medical personnel. Other dignitaries at the event were the Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr. (Mrs) Toye Coker; the Agura of Gbagura, Oba Saburee Bakre and Chief Sofela Sowemimo.

A genius is said to be somebody who exhibits an extraordinary intellectual ability to a certain stage associated with the achievement of new advances in a domain of knowledge and Nigerian has been blessed with an armful of them. Nigeria sure got talent! If you were to ask a six-year-old what he/she would like to do with their time, it is not far-fetched if the answers you get ranges from playing with toys to watching their favourite cartoon show on Nickelodeon or Disney. However, the case is not the same for British -Nigerian Esther Okade who at just six years old was already taking her maths GCSE, generally undertaken by 14- to 16-year-olds in the United Kingdom. At Ten year old, Esther Okade, one of UK’s youngest students from Nigeria, was accepted to start her maths degree at the Open University. Esther’s mother, Efe, said the process of applying to the university was ‘an interesting one because of her age. she said “We even had to talk to the VC and after they interviewed her, they realised that this has been her idea from the beginning. From the age of seven Esther has wanted to go to university". At first glance Esther Okade seems like a normal 10-year-old. She loves playing with Barbie dolls and going to the park or shopping. But what makes the British -Nigerian youngster stand out is the fact that she was also a university undergraduate. Esther, from Walsall, an industrial town in the UK's West Midlands region, is one of the country's youngest college freshmen. She once said "I want to (finish the course) in two years. Then I'm going to do my PhD in financial maths when I'm 13. I want to have my own bank by the time I'm 15 because I like numbers and I like people and banking is a great way to help people." And in case people think her parents have pushed her into starting university early, Esther emphatically disagrees. "I actually wanted to start when I was seven. But my mum was like, "you're too young, calm down." After three years of begging, mother Efe finally agreed to explore the idea. Esther when she got admitted into the university at age 10. Esther has always jumped ahead of her peers. She sat her first Math GSCE exam, a British high school qualification, at Ounsdale High School in Wolverhampton at just six, where she received a C-grade. A year later, she outdid herself and got the A-grade she wanted. Esther's mother noticed her daughter's flair for figures shortly after she began homeschooling her at the age of three. Initially, Esther's parents had enrolled her in a private school but after a few short weeks, the pair began noticing changes in the usually-vibrant youngster. Efe says: "One day we were coming back home and she burst out in tears and she said 'I don't ever want to go back to that school -- they don't even let me talk!' "In the UK, you don't have to start school until you are five. Education is not compulsory until that age so I thought OK, we'll be doing little things at home until then. Maybe by the time she's five she will change her mind." Efe started by teaching basic number skills but Esther was miles ahead. By four, her natural aptitude for maths had seen the eager student move on to algebra and quadratic equations. And Esther isn't the only maths prodigy in the family. Her younger brother Isaiah, is also a bookworm and a genus. Isn't the Family blessed to have such great kids!

All the aspirants for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship primary in Edo State, including Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, have agreed to settle out of court. Recall that the Federal High court sitting in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, had on Tuesday restrained the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki from participating in the PDP primary election. Ogbeide-Ihiama had approached the court asking for the Governor, who just joined the PDP from the All Progressives Congress, APC, to be stopped from participating in the primaries. Ogbeide-Ihiama argued that since Obaseki was not part of the candidates screened by the PDP National Working Committee, NWC initially before the date on the timetable lapsed, he should not be allowed to participate in the primaries. However, report reaching DAILY POST this Wednesday morning has it that all the parties in the Edo PDP governorship primary election case holding in the Federal High Court, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, have agreed to settle their squabbles out of court. Lead Counsel to the Plaintiff, Ferdinand Orbir, according to the report, at the resumed hearing of the matter this morning, told the court that they have served all the parties to the suit as ordered by the court, the originating summons and also published the order in two national newspapers. He, however, told the court that the parties have opted for out of court settlement. All the counsel to the defendants told the court that they have no objection to the application for out of court settlement.
