sure they are. though as you mentioned they have many differing views from protestants. however, even pentecostal churches have all sorts of wierd beliefs and they are called christians. |
shaddyfr:compared to now, yes i guess i was a whiz-kid then, though it was mostly because i had no choice. my parents gave us lots of books and no time for TV. |
LOL @ tascoray, ![]() true talk oh, the beautiful ones are not yet born, |
does anyone have an idea of the cost of adoption in Nigeria, and other requirements? is it possible to do volunteer work in Nigerian orphanages? are those Nigerien/Chadian kids on Nigerian streets up for adoption? |
riff raff, you are not alone in this; i wondered myself if i was talent-less too. i still cant say i know if i have one and what it is. ST3V3:what i find myself doing naturally? i think that'll be sleeping, talking, reading novels, playing PC games , can't see the talent in that |
Tawa-Temi:who sai! |
i'd vote for Iran. though Iranian girls tend to be small they are usually very beautiful. Romanians too, though they look like gypsies, Indian girls are also very beautiful. btw, has anyone noticed these Niger girls that roam the streets of lagos? they are beautiful too, if they weren't so dirty they might be the most beautiful africans, |
pls, does anyone know anything about Quincy Herbal Slimmers, and Ayodele Herbal Slimmers both in Nigeria. like their office addresses, phone numbers, the cost of their treatments, any possible side effects and if it really works, |
clemcykul:LOLLLLL ![]() |
naijafan:dont see how dat explains how anyone can execute judgement on someone you have no jurisdiction over, i think all this is just to put his name in the news, dont see what else he hopes to achieve from this. this is different from suing a judge or google, no matter how frivolous the reason, because they are physical entities. but God? it's just a waste of time, not as if this would stop the natural disasters or anything. |
i think we have fewer suicides than many other countries. for one thing, we are mostly religious people and tend to think of it as a sin that would land us in hell. while some white ppl would even go and collect credit cards and spend more than they can pay and kill themselves. i think another thing is that we have stronger family ties, |
it's been such a long time since i read an african novel. i love Cry, beloved country. i remember the Concubine, bottled leopard etc, i really loved those books. does anyone know of some nigerian books with hausa setting. i came across some of them a very long time ago, like 12 or 13 years ago, and have been asking about them since but no one seems to know these books. there was a young boy in the story who was taken away for slavery, btw, where do u guys get these books nowadays? |
i would choose how to read. as Nwadinma said, the ability to write naturally comes along when you read a lot. the way i see it, you're not going to write anything of quality if you've not read extensively, have you ever thought of the amount of reading that goes into the average fiction novel? the importance of reading for would-be writers cannot be over-emphasized in Nigeria, considering our spoken english, and education generally, has progressively worsened. |
my favourite book of all time would be either David Copperfield by Charles Dickens (i've never cried over an issue as i have over that book!), or all Enid Blyton books. Enid Blyton is my favourite author of all time, i've been reading her books since i was 4 and still love them. i used to read african novels when i was in secondary school but have since stopped because i don't see them anywhere these days. i think Cry, Beloved Country by Alan Paton, or so, would be my favourite african novel. |
guguru:lol, how come you are yoruba? |
i had the impression that the poster's story was fake when i saw the topic but just decided to read it anyway. now i'm scared, i knew all along dat hiv isnt from sex alone, but really, it's something i never think about. after reading all the posts i'm really thinking about hiv, it's very possible dat the poster just wanted to give us something to talk about. but i think the advice in the replies would help other ppl. |
i was born in benin, bred in lagos. my mom is from Benin and my dad is from Warri. where are y'all Bendelites on NL? |
thanks for the birthday wishes ricadelide. |
cleaning toilets and bathrooms; anything to do with taking care of clothes, even sorting them out for machine wash; dusting, sweeping, mopping, washing or scrubbing floors, taking out the garbage, cooking for someone other than myself. i guess if i had kids, changing diapers would be somewhere on top. just about everything other than washing plates. soulpatron, i agree with u; i'll willingly spend money to relieve myself of all these household chores |
just through with The Italian Garden by Susan Moody |
lol @ the senator guy, this is SOOO funny. afterall, God's "crimes" are not restricted to one country or continent, they happen all over the world. so where does he plan for the trial to take place and who will be the judge? in fact, how do they effect whatever judgement that would be passed? |
alexj:do u mean g-strings under clothing or just g-strings? i think a girl's underwear should be her own business, |
i am happy for the boys, this age reduction thingy is not just among footballers. politicians, civil servants, and just about everybody else is doing it in Nigeria. while that doesnt make it right, we should remember these boys grew up to meet that culture. dont blame them! |
have u ever broken up with some one, going out with some one else but still in love with ur ex ![]() ![]() , i m in such a situation, i need an advice, |
DOMINIC! DOMINIC!! DOMINIC!!! I always wanted Dominic to win cos he's really smart without showing it off. For the first time the smartest person won. future Ultimate Searchers should learn from Dominic: use ur intelligence 4 ur own good and not to make d others look stupid. and yeah, i support d call to bring Chidi Mokeme back. |
i like them both. but i prefer 2face. his songs r deeper, more matured. sure shows he does some good thinking. 2face's lyrics set him apart 4rm other nigerian musicians. |
we'd be deceiving ourselves to think these americans make all their money without cutting corners here or there, it's just that we Nigerians tend to take these things to far. there will always be very rich Nigerians like Dangote and Adenuga. they might be cheats, ritual-killers, election riggers or whatever, but they'll still remain super rich. we might as well be happy then that they are investing heavily in Nigeria. afterall, how many people actually believe in Nigeria enough to invest the way Dangote and Adenuga have done? the "big men" have always invested their "stolen" money in other countries, so if some people are investing "our" money in our own country we might just think of it as people who have ideas helping the govt. which doesnt and getting paid heavily for that. |
maculars, there was a stage in my life when i began to feel the way u do. i would read lots of books for and against christianity. but what convinced me about God were the memories i have of my relationship with God as a child. When u grow up as a pastor's child, or as a child of parents who are very much involved in church, and your live revolves around church, you tend to think of God, Family, Church (and maybe even friends) in the same light. so if u feel disappointed in your family or church you feel the same way about God. but the thing is many times, in a bid to appear in control, or whatever drives them, pastor's force their children out of christianity. I just read a book, The Visitation, a pastor nailed his fifteen year-old troublesom son to a tree. the boy got so angry with God and men that he turned completely from God and refused to see how God helped him thru that experience. Maculars, if u take a real look at your life, from childhood till date and try to focus on God and you and not church, you'll see that God has always been with you. I really pray that God helps you overcome the feelings you have towards Him and His ppl now. But remember one thing, anyone who makes a child turn away from God would be better off hanging a mill stone on his neck and drowning in the sea. Many men of God have made theirs and other kids turn away from God, |
d last book i read was The Visitation by Frank Peretti. b4 that A Voice in the Wind , and Atonement Child both by Francine Rivers. they r all gr8 books. i'm currently re-reading some Enid Blyton books. i think they r my favorite, @ Lesster, i read one David Baldacci book, The Simple Truth, some time ago. it was wonderful, @ Chigotex, have u read Danielle Steel's biography? u'd think it was one of her novels. i had to keep reminding myself that this was a real life story. i used to read Danielle Steel a lot till i read 3 Lone Eagle, Palomino and Crossings in a week. after Crossings, i made up my mind not to read Danielle Steel anymore. but after reading the story of her life, i could understand why she makes up such sorrowful tales. |
hmmm, na wa oh. i'm also an RCCG member. i'm just hearing of this ban. Is it just for church services or everywhere, and is it just for workers or all members. I doubt that there are RCCG churches in nigeria where workers are allowed to come for service (at least, sunday service) in trousers. i wonder if this ban would hold for the RCCG memb ers outside this country, i remember when i was in the redeemed school in the camp, there was a time when a law was passed that all female students should have their heads covered at ALL times. somehow it wasnt enforced. around dat time, during the Ministers' Conference i saw an Asian lady wearing black sleeveless top and black trousers with an armband on and her hair uncovered. she was most likely a guest minister. now, that kind of dressing in most RCCG circles will be regarded as occultic, i had d impression back then that there were different standards for black and white christians. about women wearing trousers to seduce men, i'd say skirts and dresses can be much more seductive than trousers. besides, any man who comes to church and is seduced by a lady in tight trousers was probably looking for seduction anyway. because in such an environment, where the name of the Lord is being proclaimed, i'd expect that anyone would be repulsed by seductive dressing. Nigerian men just like to blame their problems on women. |
