That was how I was reading several posts from Obidients particularly from a region of the country on WhatsApp about their intention of cooking and putting poison in the food to serve the poor northern beggars just because the north did not vote favourably for their candidate as they had expected.

Some were even laying curses on Ekiti people forgetting that some people from that same Ekiti voted for them.

I am from Ondo state and here we have many Benue and Akwa Ibom people working on our cocoa farms (my mum told me even igbos too in the past), I grew up with them working for my grandmother, yet we do not call them or see them as slaves cos they are working to make a living, some of them are now well to do with their own farms, no one calls them or treats them as slaves.

But most igbos (not all) have been fed with this Yorubas are slaves narrative and if you ask them how are they slaves, they have nothing meaningful to say, except of course you will be an exception by explaining to me what you meant by that.

What is playing out here is the illusion of knowledge which is worse than ignorance. You think you know but you don't.


Yorubas understands the political terrain of Nigeria, we know that negotiation and alliance with a regional block is what guarantees political relevance in the country. Since, politics is a game of numbers, which region do you think we will be more gravitated towards, the south east with the meagre numbers that will come out from there and whose people are never united in their political pursuit or a people who are more or less united when they want to pursue a course and who have the needed numbers?
