I have been weighing my words carefully but people, I am a proud yoruba man, who comes from a family of indigenous Lagosians , and we can trace our history for 100s of years, and yes my mother is igbo, and I take no shame at all in that part of my heritage, my parents have been happily married for over 40 years. I have sincere questions? Where is CSP James Nwafor? How come Peter Obi wasn't compelled to face the Judicial Panel of Enquiry on Police Brutality in Anambra State. From today, I will never see Obidients in the same light anymore. If he was a saint as he claims why did he have to secure an injunction to stop the inquiry, yet some gullible young people are calling him their Messiah


No be dis Nigeria we dey when im be Governor. There are a thousand and one post here on NL of people from his state describing him as the worst thing to ever happen to that state. All of a sudden those who were condemning him made a 360 and started hailing him as the Messiah, that he is now the one to bring about New Nigeria... I laugh in Swahili!

That was how I was reading several posts from Obidients particularly from a region of the country on WhatsApp about their intention of cooking and putting poison in the food to serve the poor northern beggars just because the north did not vote favourably for their candidate as they had expected.

Some were even laying curses on Ekiti people forgetting that some people from that same Ekiti voted for them.


It is Crystal clear this whole movement is not about New Nigeria, the few people in the South West who bought into this idea did so because of the obvious failure of the Buhari government and they voted in protest against this government and understandably they were right in their judgement, but taking a cursory look at the events after the presidential election it is obvious there is a hidden underlying agenda which is not known to many of those who fall into this category.

How do you explain this level of toxicity and wickedness towards people who hold different political opinion or who doesn't support your candidate How?


This is dangerous because hate begets hate and if we continue this way it can only lead to something disastrous. I don't know how true as I can not verify the authenticity, I read a post from Joe Igbokwe of an APC supporter who was killed in the East, this type of trend will only lead to disaster.

There's nothing positive in that post of his. There is also nothing positive when that name is used to refer to a Yoruba man by anyone. I don't know how else to explain this to you.

That's what you should have said... Not hammering on the Afonja word. We all call hausas aboki and it's meant as a derogatory word but the hausas weren't offended because aboki meant my friend. But if I put aboki on a goat, that would be disrespectful to the Hausa.

I agree than Afonja on a goat is disrespectful but in your initial post, you and the other person I mentioned were all harping on why he called Yorubas Afonja... Nobody mentioned goat

With or without the goat in the picture Afonja is used as an insult, goat or not.

That's why I said earlier that you do not understand. I also told you the meaning behind the use of that name.

It's like calling someone JUDAS, Judas is a name, a good name, but what is the character that comes to mind when someone calls you for example that name. That is what is intended when Yorubas are called Afonja. You might have been doing this innocently not knowing what is intended. It is an insult, nothing honorary or complimentary.

Aboki on the other hand is not insulting, Aboki means friend.
