CareerBuxom Food Vendor Features On FIXIT- Nigeria by Godspowerpro(op):
To GOD be all glory

www.fixit.ng

Meet buxom ebony beauty, Hannah Fatokun Adetutu, who is a food vendor and CEO of Emmanade Foods N More,

Specialist in jollof rice, Fried rice,White rice, Ofada, Swallows, Ewa goin and Bread, Hannah was born into a family of 8; 3 boys and 3 girls, with parents from Imeko Afon.

Emmanade Foods N More began from the kitchen in the house with soup orders for people on request and running deliveries, along with birthday packs and all, since about 4, 5 years ago, until Hannah thought about making it a daily thing that will bring in daily money, which brought about setting up the restaurant. Read and digest the conversation between FIXIT-Nigeria and Hannah- Emmanade

Fixit.ng: Tell us about yourself and Emmanade Foods

Emmanade: I was born in this Lagos, Akilo precisely, grew up in Meiran Alagbado, moved to Abuleegba.
Had my primary Education at Ritlad Nursery & Primary School- Meiran, and junior secondary school education at IJJSS, senior secondary at Greenfield college, and finally got admission with Osun state polytechnic where I had my ND, after that processed my BSc at Open University and then certifications and all, still in the process.
Food has been my passion from when I was small. I like cooking, and people around me can testify to that. While I was in school, in the hostel I'll just ask everybody 'okay what are we eating today, let's just do a collaboration and I'll handle the cooking'. They know it's my thing, cooking is something I find pleasure in doing and that has actually made it easy

Fixit: How has the journey been?

Emmanade: First of all its been GOD, and passion is second.
The truth is, it's tasking, stressful, but the passion keeps one going, when you venture into something you dont have passion for, you'll be frustrated out of it.
Tasking in the sense that, you have to do some deliveries within short periods. Stress, before you cook this, cook that, waking up early to meet up with people that are going to work, schools, to deliver to them. My alarm rings for 5.30am, we are awake, so in 30minutes, we must be done, by 6 o'clock we leave the house, and 6.30 we are here.

Fixit: How do you intend to influence Nigerian cuisine?

Emmanade: In my own way, we can influence the economy by 1. Many people are actually in this business for the money part of it. Money is actually good but should not be priority. Give people what is edible, what is good for their body is most important, you shouldn't for moneymaking sake give people rubbish, on my own part, I believe in giving people what is edible, and affordable because of the economy, that they should be satisfied with whatever they're buying with even little amount. Such that you can walk in with whatever you have and still eat to satisfaction.

Fixit: What makes Emmanade stand out

Emmanade: The taste, I dont know if you understand that kind of homely taste, when you grab a bite and feel like 'I'm at home'. The good homely taste of it makes all the difference.

Fixit: What's Emmanade's Overall brand vision

Emmanade: My vision is not just about food, it's a mandate mixed with career, to feed the belly, and feed the souls as well, an Avenue to tell people about Christ, chip in one or two words of encouragement, like in the process of feeding the belly you feed the soul. People want to eat first before you can tell them anything.

Fixit: Plans for expanding

Emmanade: Yeah, of course everybody wants to expand in business now, no one wants to be on a spot and not progress. So there are plans of expansion and I know that with GOD it is doable.

Fixit: What is Your Exclusive testimony

Emmanade: I'll give you two out of many. The first is, when I actually had plans to set up the restaurant there was no funds, I can remember, early this year, i was like 'GOD, I want to be out of salary job and I dont know how you're going to do it for me but I want to have my restuarant'. I wasn't even prepared for it but I put agents into action, concerning what I need. I prayed about the direction and GOD gave me the location. When I got the place, this space is what I prayed and there was a go ahead. That's why we are here now. All the resources started coming, one thing I say is, once there is no plan or date attached to something there might not be realization of that thing. I already prayed about it that by June, everything should be done, everything started conforming to it and by June to the glory of GOD, we did the opening of the restaurant.

My second testimony is I got a job that I didn't sweat for, there was no referral, it was just a walk in customer that just ate and liked the food, and 'I'd like you to cater for my daughter's wedding'. Initially when we were having that conversation I was like 'well it's one of those people that tell you what they want to do', not until the person came back and actually dropped money for it and I knew that this is actually GOD in action. No referral, just someone that came in to eat saying 'if your regular food can be like this, your party food will be wow'. That was how the deal was done.
I specially give thanks to GOD for these two testimonies. The salary job wasn't frustrating but I believe in having my own business. I want to employer of labour too. Not because I want to feel like a boss or anything similar but I have a vision to push and there's a space for me in the market too. Salary job wasn't giving me satisfaction. I wanted to be out and do a 'thing' for myself.

Fixit: If not Emmanade, what would you be doing?

Emmanade: If not Emmanade, maybe I'd still be in my salary job, probably working and not being satisfied. When you are no longer finding fulfillment in what you are doing you'll be frustrated. I might not be seeing much now because we are still in the startup level but there's a feeling of satisfaction because it is what I like to do. If I'm to equate it to my salary then I might say it is not upto but I find satisfaction and that alone is okay for me.

Fixit: How did the name 'Emmanade' come about?

Emmanade: Emmanade is a long long story but the summary of it all is what brought about the name was a different thing from the onset. But along the line GOD changed it, gave me a better meaning for it. Since you ask, its 3 names put together to form the brand name. First name is Emmanuel, second is Hannah, and third is Adetutu. Emmanuel meaning GOD with us, then Hannah and Adetutu is my name. GOD with Hannah in this business will go global.

Fixit: Advice to Entrepreneurs

Emmanade: My advice is speak to GOD first about whatever you want to do. There is nothing I dont talk to GOD about, no matter what. There's no tiniest thing I dont talk to GOD about. Every detail is important, you have to carry GOD along with it. Aside passion, passion is not enough, there is time for everything, there might be time to launch and time to still wait, you know the market is competitive, there might be time GOD is actually setting you for, to hold on for the time HE wants to launch you into the business. So if you go faster than GOD you might be frustrated out of it. So you must understand timing. That's why I say you can not out rule GOD, because me as a person cant out rule GOD in whatever I want to do because I understand the Impact of GOD, I've seen how HIS guidance and mentorship has actually helped me, so why will I want to out rule such a PERSON in my activities. So it's important to first understand what GOD'S agenda is for you. 'GOD, should I go on this business?' 'Do I setup a location for it or do I still continue from the corner of my house?' All those little details matter. Like someone asked 'can you really ask the Holy Spirit all those things'- Yeah you can ask, you can ask stupid questions no matter how silly it is, so it's important you first put GOD in whatever you want to do. It makes all these things easy because HE'S the only one that can take you to the right and good places, talking about your sources and locations, all those things are very very important. HE may want you to be in Abuleegba but you feel your target customers are in Ikeja because it's an exponential environment. No, you have to be where GOD wants you to be. Do what GOD wants you to do. Then secondly Passion, you must understand if you have passion for this or it is a matter of time and you'll be frustrated. Encouragement is not enough, you love to do it is important so those 2 are important.

Fixit: Briefly characterize your relationship with GOD

Emmanade: How do I describe a relationship that is like beans and corn cooked together, how do you pick them apart? That's how it is.

Fixit: Who is Fatokun Hannah Adetutu

Emmanade: Hannah is a lover of GOD, well it's not good to actually talk too much about your person. Its always good when third parties give witness of your personality, who you are. So dont let me reference about myself, but I am just the simplest person you can ever meet. Simple, understanding.

CelebritiesWhy Is Silence The Best Revenge? by Godspowerpro(op): 9:32pm On Oct 09, 2022
Teresa Santana
Powered by GODSPOWERPROJECT

Often times we meet the wrong set of people who bring out a different version of us or force us to grow up fast. Usually they manage to get a reaction from us but according to relationship experts, our reactions might be the fuel they need to keep frustrating us.

Glory be to GOD, Teresa Santana highlights the power of silence

1. Because Silence is the most powerful weapon to drive away narcissists from your life.

2. Silence means ignoring them, not letting them in again in your life.

3. Silence will lead you to choose to be mature and make peace within yourself.

4. Silence will make you fight with your inner self to choose peace, not revenge.

5. Silence will take your whole life back from their world.

Here’s a question: What do narcissists do with your silence?

A narcissist will do all in his power to get you back, or at the very least, punish you, because silence is a major ego blow to him- a narcissist will never stop fighting. So there are some things narcissists do that you should also avoid:

1. Narcissists become socially active, spying on you on social media.

2. They will become enraged and will use insults to damage you.

3. They will blame you.

4. They may try to pull us back into their lives by live bombing.

5. They will make you believe he’s changed.

6. They may use the no contact strategy themselves and practically disappear.

PoliticsAPAPA GRIDLOCK: Commuters Groan Over Worsened Traffic Robbery. by Godspowerpro(op): 6:29pm On Oct 08, 2022
By:Fashina Shakiru

As rehabilitation and construction work continue, the commuters from Second Rainbow inward section of Cele-Oshodi-Apapa Expressway; Sanya, Ijesha, Agulejike, Cele, Odo-Oluwu, and Iyana Itire Junction spend hours in the traffic and lamented that the service lane meant for the motorists, have abandoned vehicles parked on the section of the road which cause intermittent traffic gridlock and traffic robbery.

A correspondent of Mile2Comnews' on-the-spot assessment of the situation on Saturday, observed that there is massive construction work outward from Oshodi and inward into the Mile 2, and it causes traffic, especially around Sanya, Second Rainbow section of the road handled by Hi-Tech construction company. Also, the correspondent discovered that indiscriminate parking of 'Tokunbo cars' and motorists driving one way on the section of the service lane contribute to the heavy traffic congestion.

The correspondent reported that many commuters do spend hours before navigating through the traffic to continue their journeys.

The Hi-Tech construction company mounted roadblocks to divert the traffic movement while the commuters force their way to drive against the traffic and this cause gridlock.

A commuter who identified himself as Moses Charles said: "I regret taking this route. I've spent 2 hours navigating Second Rainbow to Oshodi. This is a journey that should be less than 10 minutes. But I've spent 2 hours now."

Another commuter, Kunle Yusuf who works around the Apapa axis said the area had turned to a hub of traffic robbery. "For the past few weeks, serious traffic robberies have been experienced due to traffic," he said. He added that unlicensed "'Tokunbo car mart and abandoned vehicles parked on the service lane inward Cele constitute serious gridlock.

He said : "The causes of the traffic robbery along Ijesha, Odowu, and Agunlejika are those traders who sell by the roadside, Tokunbo car mart and abandoned cars parked on the service lane."

He called on the Lagos State Environment Taskforce unit to look into removing the abandoned vehicles parked indiscriminately on the roadsides to ease traffic in these areas.

Gideon and Jacob are good friends who used to work together. While Gideon kept his job, Jacob resigned to venture into his private business.

Both of them have partnered on 2 major business transactions that produced good profit. While Gideon made 1 million naira profit from the last transaction, Jacob made 9 million because he invested more time and capital into the business.

Another business is in the pipeline for both of them with an estimated profit of 25 million naira per investor. Jacob has enough cash and time to invest in the business and he thinks it is high time Gideon resigns to face the business full time.

Gideon is considering this. He does not have the 10 million Naira required to invest in the business but he is thinking of 'borrowing' money that was kept in his care by his brother. His younger brother has been out of the country and has been sending cash to Gideon's account every month (for 3 years now) because he wants to buy a land in his choice area In Lagos. His brother has saved 20 Million so far and is planning to come to the country in 9 months with enough cash to balance up and buy his land.

The business has a high risk but the profit is worth it. Borrowing his brother's money will mean that he won't need to pay interest on bank loans.
Should Gideon resign and borrow his brother's money without telling him(because his brother does not believe in taking risks). As a Christian isn't he betraying his brother's trust? Is the risky business worth family loyalty?

Boluwatife Rosanje is the proud shoemaker-CEO of RARE Creations (acronyms derived from- Rosanje Anuoluwapo Rebecca Evangel).
Last born in a family of 4 kids to Mr. & Mrs Rosanje from Odogbolu local government in Ijebu, Ogun state, the multifaceted Boluwatife shares her experiential journey as a female shoemaker with GODSPOWERPROJECT

GPP- How has the experience been?

RARE- It has been wonderful, you know how life is, sometimes business will be rosy and other times somehow, but in everything you just have to give thanks to GOD, because I really appreciate GOD, it's not by my power neither by my might.

GPP- What continues to motivate you?

RARE- I think me, I see myself as a product of grace, and the support and encouragement I get from my family and friends continue to push me to do more and do better.

GPP- What are your Major challenges

RARE- Basically financial challenges and another challenge to me is the schooling aspect. I graduated secondary school about 3-4 years ago, now imagine my mates are in school, learning, my major concern now is I dont want to see my mates and dodge, that's my major prayer. Me not being in school now, GOD knows best, even Nigeria itself is so messed up, because I wrote jamb and passed, but the university are doing as they like. My major challenge is the need to work on my finance, family and schooling.

GPP- Let's discuss greatest reward and memorable moments

RARE-
Rare Creations will be 2 years by October 17, I was trying to pen down my customer database, I couldn't document them all and I just decided I'd just throw a general anniversary party where everyone should just come, because I intended to do something special for my customers but I lost count. I really thank GOD for every reward, support and love from everywhere.

GPP- Your advice to general public?

RARE- After GOD, the first thing in life is loving yourself, when you love yourself and know what you love, because I know I'm a fashion person and so in life, you have to have self discovery, self confidence and high self esteem. The road to self discovery involves knowing what makes you happy because your happiness should be your first priority because there are times you'll be down with nobody to help, so you have to cheer yourself up. Like I noticed sketching illustrations works for me.

GPP- Don't you feel intimidated in this Male dominated hustle

RARE- Do I? I don't, I'm even proud of it actually, you know it makes a difference being a lady-shoemaker. I say yes, I'm proud of my job, that's what I do for a living.
I came across my boss- a female making footwear and I thought, 'wow, a lady can do this too', but every of her apprentices were male. It became 'since she can do this, I can learn it also' so I had it in mind to learn it.

GPP- Where do you see RARE Creations in 2 years?

RARE- I see the business going international outside Nigeria, though that involves working on myself first, because you just can't go international without knowing what the international market entails, the locations and you know the way we satisfy our Nigerian customers cannot be the same way to satisfy our abroad customers. I want to see my works in boutiques over there, partnering with businesses and companies over there. Home and abroad actually, because you cannot go there and forget your source

GPP- Describe your relationship with GOD

RARE- I use it as a slang already, when GOD is your Sugar Daddy, you just do anyhow. Because me and GOD just click. HE'S my close pal. We discuss and do things together.
Being a lady in a male industry, there are some touches there, but GOD is my close Pal. HE never leaves me, always with me.

GPP- If not this business what would you be doing now?

RARE- If not this business probably as I graduated from school I'd be in a hurry to enter university and then when I'm done with university I'll now come back because in Nigeria, after school there's no work. You just have to make a means of survival for yourself.

GPP- What is the common misconception about ladies in this profession?

RARE- People get it wrong by saying it's a guys work dont forget the saying that "what a man can do a woman can do better" and some people say it's a dirty job and I use to tell people my Yoruba proverb that says "its inside the dirt that we find money "

GPP- So how do you handle clients who ask you out?

RARE- Clients who ask me out I go straight to the point, if I'm interested I'll tell you but if I'm not, we'll just maintain client-customer relationship. I dont bring fun or pleasure into my business. There was a time I had a boyfriend, I said to him 'when it's time to work let's go straight to the point about business here and when we talk about our relationship that's another ballgame. If you want to make pam, bro you're gonna pay but I might give boyfriend discount but you're gonna pay

GPP- How did the RARE Creations come about?

RARE- I was in school when I got the RARE,
I was class captain and there's this room where I usually pray or read. This particular day I was observing a personal fast and the inspiration just popped. So I started wondering what the RARE meant. I have not dreamt of this shoemaking venture then. I only got the name first and over time it started coming to me

A- Anuoluwapo/Adetutu
R- Rebecca
E- Evangel

I asked my mum how my Evangel name came about and she said they were on evangelism outreach when she gave birth to me. I was given birth to during evangelism.

Area 13 (Ajala-Ijaiye)-Pastor John Magaji

To GOD be all glory

In line with its mandate of 'raising giants', the Youth Alive Fellowship- under the Apostolic leadership of Bishop David Oyedepo, held a discourse with the theme 'Maximizing Opportunities & Financing Your Dreams'

As the theme implies, the occasional discourse which is part of the larger initiative of the Living Faith Church Worldwide (LFCWW) presents a unique opportunity for youths, teens, business owners, career managers, development partners and vital stakeholders to exchange ideas while focusing on issues that concern businesses and careers with best results achieved.

The event was anchored by Area 13 youth Representative Babatunde Olanrewaju and had in attendance tech prodigy turn Yoghurt entrepreneur of Mayor Global Resources- Adepoju Ezekiel as Guest Speaker, and other progress oriented youths within the Ajala-Ijaiye axis of Abuleegba, Lagos state.

Welcoming the speaker and participants to the discourse, the Area Youths Rep, Ajala-Ijaiye, Babatunde Olanrewaju described opportunities to be like windows which 'open and close' citing the story of David from the Scriptures and Leslie Brown in contemporary times as case study.

Olanrewaju mentioned how 'Leslie Brown started as a trained DJ seeking a job at a radio station but was instead offered a job serving tea, before opportunity came and he performed exceptionally due to preparations' in the same vein, 'David was training by killing bears and lions, before killing Goliath'
'An opportunity unprepared for is a setup' he quipped.

He offered a brief profile of guest speaker Adepoju Ezekiel, as including Bsc. Industrial Labor Relationship, CIPM, and especially CEO of Mayor Global Resources- producers of Yoghurt and Juices, whose passion is seeing people identify and using their talents to glorify GOD.

However, during his introduction, especially after presenting himself as a 'young man with a big dream' the CEO of Mayor Global Resources- Babatunde Olanrewaju said the word 'sack' is not a wrong thing when you are doing the right thing.

Having worked at the Airtel call center for 7 years and fed up of routine, he was promoted to team leader, but when GOD has better plans, getting sacked is not a wrong thing.

"I was initially angry because I was serving GOD sacrificially. First thing on my mind was GOD, I was serving you, why did they sack me"

"I moved to Opay, setup in Abeokuta, and again another downsizing happened there in 2020- my sister was the juice maker initially, and I had initially wasted tens of thousands for solar training but had no idea what the market was saying"

"Even when opportunities are around, you need the Holy Spirit to guide you. What you might have to do is very small, watchout for what the Holy Spirit is saying. What GOD set up for me in 3 months cannot compare to a year of work"

He went on to address how the world is operating in a community where you can relate with anybody anywhere- "The world is at your doorstep, Brave yourself up and challenge your world, engage companies and individuals"

How To Maximize Opportunities and Finance Your Dreams

As AYO OGUNSAN BAGS NAOSNP MAN OF THE YEAR AWARD; SAYS ‘MY JOY IS WHEN I SEE SECURITY AGENCIES WORKING’

GODSPOWERPROJECT
www.trekafrica.net

As widely publicized across several platforms and hailed by big names within and outside Nigeria’s security architecture, the Member of the Board of Trustees of Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ayo Ogunsan has bagged the NAOSNP’s Man of the Year Award. The honour which was bestowed on him for ‘the awesome work that you are doing to champion the cause of national security and economic development’ held at the prestigious Civic Center, Victoria Island, Lagos on Wednesday 21st September, 2022.

The annual conference and award organized by the umbrella body of journalists and publishers reporting security, safety, and other allied beats is the third edition. The theme "Crime Prevention and Intelligence Gathering: Institutionalising Citizen Participation, Technology, and the way forward," was set against the backdrop of the all-important support that security agencies in Nigeria require to work and succeed.

It is on the basis of this immense support that Dr. Ayo Ogunsan was awarded the Man of the Year award. Dr. Ogunsan is highly regarded as a civilian who towers high in supporting Nigeria Police and other security agencies. Excited about the accolade, the Chairman of Executive Trainers Limited, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan remarked: ‘My sojourn into the security space started just about 11 years. From then, I made up my mind that I will contribute my very best to the interest of the security agencies in Nigeria especially Lagos state. My joy is when I see security agencies working and having all things required to perform their functions. As long as I see them happy, I am happy. If we, civilians refuse to support them, we can’t complain.’

‘This award means one thing for me. The reward of hardwork is more work. You have challenged me to do more and I will do more’, he told the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP).

Celebrating the large gathering of security icons, both in private and public service, who were present with him at the event, the Patron of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in Lagos state said: ‘I want to appreciate you all for your time out here. The AIG Zone 2, AIG Adeleke Bode, Commissioner of Police, Lagos Command, CP Abiodun Alabi, Commissioner of Police, Ogun state, CP Lanre Bankole, AIG Olusegun Odumosu (rtd) thank you for honoring me today. I am very excited to see elders come out for this programme that we young boys are doing’.

Lending his voice to support the activities of the security agencies, another towering civilian, Babajide Kolade-Otitoju said: ‘Who says all security operatives are corrupt?

That statement is nothing but untrue. I know a lot of security officers who do not take bribes. If I say bribe, I mean life-changing bribe - money that can change your life. And for all Nigerian Army, Police, NSCDC, Immigration, Customs, and NDLEA officers, who diligently discharged their duties, and who stood firm for the truth to make Nigeria great by not collecting bribes regardless of the degree.’ The media champion also bagged an award at the event.

In the same vein, the former Minister of External Affairs and Governor of old Imo State, Major General Ike Nwachukwu (Retd) commended security agencies for rendering selfless service to the country and added that people can sleep with their two eyes close because the security agencies have been putting in a lot.

PoliticsToward Achieving A Cleaner Lagos by Godspowerpro(op): 11:02pm On Sep 26, 2022
By Folashade Kadiri

www.trekafrica.net

Driving through the city of Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital, one cannot help but observe the practical steps taken by the administration of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu to establish environmental sustainability in the state.

Following the blueprint of the T.H.E.M.E.S. agenda introduced by Mr. Governor as soon as he assumed office in 2019, the state has prioritised cleanliness and environmental sustainability.

Spearheading the government’s quest to establish a cleaner and livable environment for Lagosians, is the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA).

The Authority since the inception of the present administration has introduced various programmes and initiatives, which have all been instrumental to helping the state achieve its objectives on environment.

One of the key initiatives embarked upon by LAWMA in tackling the menace of indiscriminate waste dumping and plastic pollution is recycling.

In 2019, the Authority launched the Blue Box programme, which later metamorphosed into the Lagos Recycle Initiative, aimed at encouraging separation of waste at the point of generation, for recycling purposes.

Massive media advocacy campaigns have been carried out to educate residents on the need to embrace recycling as a way of life. Also in the last one year, recycling companies in the state have grown from three to 100, with over 12,500 jobs created.

On the recent traction gained by recycling in Lagos State, the agency's Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ibrahim Odumboni has this to say:

“Since the launch of the recycling initiative by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, we’ve grown from three recycling companies to 100 recycling companies and still counting. We currently have more than 600 aggregators, and over 12,500 jobs created in the sector so far. Therefore, you can see that we have started a movement and a growth. It’s over two years now and the progress that is being made is enormous”.

What LAWMA is doing in the area of recycling deserves the support of all and sundry. Lagos, with a population of over 20 million people, is said to be generating about 13,000 metric tonnes of waste daily, with plastic materials constituting 17% of the wastes. Imagine dumping these huge numbers in the landfill.

The implication of this is that there might be no landfill to dump on. This is why LAWMA has engaged recycling as a veritable tool to make sure that the above painted scenario does not happen.

Apart from being handy in tackling environmental challenges in the state, the recycling initiative has been used to create jobs for the unemployed. This has made a massive impact on the lives of many citizens, thus alleviating unemployment challenges, with over 12,500 of such jobs created until date.

On the Authority’s plan to consolidate on the efforts made in the area of recycling, Odumboni revealed that LAWMA had concluded plans to set up 114 recycling collection centers in all the Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos before the end of the year.

The LAWMA boss added that a $65 Million bottle-to-bottle recycling facility, built by a private firm, in partnership with the Authority, would soon commence operation, on 16 acres of land located at Lagos Ibadan Expressway.

The Authority, working in consonance with PAKAM Technology, has also introduced the PAKAM app 2.0, an all-inclusive waste management software application that connects residents to recyclers, for the exchange of their recyclable items, in real-time.

The revamped app, unveiled during the recent 3rd anniversary celebration of the Lagos Recycle Initiative, would go a long way in encouraging households to key into the opportunities presented by the seamless integration of technology, to tackle waste management challenges in the state.

LAWMA, with the support of the government, is relentlessly exploring all avenues to maximise the inherent opportunities in recycling, which has brought about numerous environmental and economic benefits, turning waste to wealth and providing means of livelihood to many who without jobs would have constituted nuisance in society.

There is no doubt that the recycling initiative in Lagos is work in progress and will get better with time. The cheering news is that refuse heaps are fast disappearing from the Lagos landscape and all well meaning residents are applauding this.

While this is not to say that Eldorado is already here, the signs are obviously good and it is just a matter of time before we get there. In order to sustain and surpass the momentum, Lagos residents must come to terms with the significance of an improved environmental habit. When we deliberately choose to act in manners that could endanger the environment, we are the ones that would certainly bear the consequences of such actions.

What is required to maintain a sane and friendly environment is not just about what the government is doing, but also about the people’s attitude. Lagosians need to stop all practices that could put a clog in the wheel of the government's efforts at waste management. Everyone must be ready to imbibe a positive attitude in the area of waste disposal. Residents are enjoined to call LAWMA toll-free line 07080601020 to report waste management challenges in their areas.

Ours is still work in progress and with the support of all residents and stakeholders in the state, we will achieve the Sanwo-Olu administration’s vision of attaining a Greater Lagos.

All hands need to be on deck to achieve a cleaner, healthier, wealthier and livable Lagos of our dreams. Together, we can achieve this!

Folashade Kadiri is Director, Public Affairs, LAWMA.
