OBOTOTHICK: No advice should be taken for granted, moreover, SW is different from other part of the country, no governor is guaranteed a second term, if the people don't want you, there's little thing you can do, except for Lagos, no one can predict the outcome of any election in Yoruba land, Fayose couldn't deliver pdp likewise fayemi may not be able to handover to a apc candidate, Makinde's second term is shaking forget media hype, unlike ibos that blindly follows pdp It's still easy for makinde to cash in on the hatred for tinubu to win second term, very easy, osun has embolden all anti tinubu forces in the SW. But like I said I don't even care. With all the boko aram attacks, APC still wins borno Yobe and other northern states. It's fallacy to think people vote because of performance. All na lie. SW is deceiving itself. Osun has never know good governance be it under PDP or APC, same for Oyo with APC even having an edge in terms of ajumobi performance. Our people are too over reactive and it's not good for national politics |

MikoB: Everyone knows Tinubu controls the machinery of governance in lagos, he should do the needful with Sanwo olu. That's not true, if fashola won the hearts of lagosians with his sterling performance, there's nothing stopping sanwolu. He's the one to man up to be counted. |
Politics › Re: It Is Not Too Late For Tinubu And Apc. by Goke7: 9:21am On Jul 18, 2022 |
MikoB: I am writing this article base on the recent happenings in the political space in nigeria. As some people already know that I am a staunch supporter of the the vice president in person of Prof Yemi Osinbajo and I will always support him, I have also made it known recently that Osinbajo will come back and that he is the only hope and life to the ruling APC if they had given him the ticket, anyway let me move to the topic of this article, it is just an advise to Tinubu and Apc, that can help them to turn the misfortune that is about to happen to them around, I know pride and arrogance may not allow them to accept all what I am going to write here, there is one adage in Yoruba tongue, that says Omo Eni ko sedi bebere kafi ileke si idi omo elomi, meaning even if your child is not beautiful that does not mean you will beautify an outsider against your child, recently most Tinubu supporters that know me in person have approached me they even pleaded that I should be part of their meeting when Tinubu came here to france recently but I refused, I am a principled person, I am not a person that will be cajoled not to speak his mind, so that was the reason I stayed out, the one that touched me the most happened yesterday so I told him I will give an open and public advise to Tinubu and Apc, and this will be the best I can do at this particular point in time. 1)Tinubu should not take the defeat in Osun as one of those political talk that you win some and loose some, what is happening is far behond that, it is a sign of anger in people against the apc led govt generally.
2)Tinubu and his handlers should not try to play smartness by looking for a way to outsmart Inec and every other law enforsement agencies, since these agencies blocked some loopholes in Osun elections.
3)Tinubu should not rely on Buhari and the federal power because this might not come.
4)Tinubu should go on genuine reconciliation among the aggrieved party members, he should humble himself and approach the VP in a manner that can pacify him and find a way to make him the campaign chairman of the election with this, the Christian community can be rest assured and I am sure this will swing at least 20 to 30 percent Christians back to him.
5)the last and the most important, it concerns the performance of governance in Lagos State, Tinubu should know that since nigerians have lost hope in the federal govt, Tinubu needs lagos state to prove a point, but the lagos state govt has been a dissapointment but fortunately for Tinubu and Apc, they still have 8 months to go before the election, I will advise him to encourage sanwo olu to start the 4th mainland bridge, I will also advise them to mobilise contractors to all the abandoned constructions sites all across the state, they should also start immediately giving soft loans to the market women and the vulnerables, I know some will say that is vote buying no it is not, it is better than waiting for the election day to give 10k why can't you give the 10k legally now, I will also advise the stakeholders to learn how to talk reasonably to the people to soften their heart but not with arrogance and rudeness.
With all what I have stated above if Tinubu and Apc take some of the advise I am sure it will be helpful in the coming election, and after winning the election all the positive programmes must not stop they will have to continue with them, so that the nigeria population will have no reason to be angry at any govt. Thank you While your points are valid, it's up to the SW to decide what they want. If APC loses next year, na the SW go suffer am. We saw it under pdp. Our political correctness and too much book is our problem in the SW. How well are the pdp states faring especially in the SS and SE but still they stick to pdp for self preservation. That is what the SW does not understand. How well is Edo state doing even after switching to pdp. is it that the pdp in the whole of SS or SE does not have internal problems like APC in the SW. In Lagos state apart from fashola, the other governors after him have not been too impressive, do you blame that on tinubu? My take is that the SW for all I care can continue to foolishly join other parts of the country to demonise tinubu, na dem go suffer am. I was also rooting for osinbajo and wished for him to get the ticket but since he did not get it, why should I join non yorubas to pull tinubu down, I dey craze? Is tinubu not yoruba? is Obi an angel? Do you see any igbo man publishing the dirty side of Obi? Make SW no get sense all because they are aggrieved with each other. The enemies of SW are all rejoicing, shebi we sabi book pass everybody? |

the question is who are the Christians voting for? Atiku or Obi.
If Atiku wins, are Christians saying they will be comfortable again under another Fulani president?
If Obi wins, I hope Christians will be ok and comfortable if Obi does not give them the kind of generosity just like he did as Anambra governor.
I just think we Christians are times are just confused and don't know what we want. I think Christians don't understand they are just pawns for the politicians |

olumide4christ: Succinctly put! You got it so right!
People will be shouting Tinubu up and down as if he has governed Nigeria since the beginning of our democracy. Even if they claim he rules and controls Lagos, Lagos is just 1 state out of the 36 states in this country along with the FCT. Why have the other 35 states not progressed and become small Dubais'? Is it not because the leaders of the other states have also been stealing money? Why are these hypocrites not firing their leaders too? Why are these hypocrites not voting other parties asides from PDP for these 23 years of democracy? Yet they still stick to PDP even though PDP hasn't developed their region except Akwa Ibom.
Pots calling kettle black!
In the whole of Nigeria, they have proved to be the least politically sophisticated and dynamic. All states in other regions of Nigeria, North, South West, Middle Belt have changed parties over the course of our democracy, only them have stuck with PDP and it's decampees ever since! It is our SW people that are always trying to be politically correct without sense, APC can never win any gubernatorial election in the SE no matter how good the candidate is but it's a crime if APC continues to dominate the SW. I just pity Yorubaland, we have been invaded economically, security-wise, and politically. The agenda is simple, weaken the SW socio-political landscape for others to feast on. I served in Osun state during the time of oyinlola under pdp, osun has never known very good governance at all, is it Ade the dancer that will do wonders? even the APC osun politicians are not serious, why weaken your base for external outsiders because you want to have your way. There are states in the US that are always republican or Democrat, are those parties are always doing well? The SW does not understand the principle of self-preservation. How good is Peter Obi, but the SE will want us to believe he's an angel and demonize any strong Yoruba politician. |

He should go and sit down somewhere jare.
Had it been Akeredolu wasn't performing, there wouldn't have been any reason to vote APC in Ondo state.
This is a message to all non-Yorubas. We mostly vote individuals who will have the interest of our region in mind.
And trust me, neither Tinubu (Yoruba) nor Obi (Igbo) have the interest of the southwest in mind. For the latter, you may not believe this until he accidentally becomes president (very unlikely though).
I will go with Atiku. Northern politicians seem to always have a significant project done in the south west. Yes, even Buhari too.
Lalasticlala move this to the front page. You are a liar, so you think an Atiku project will be beneficial to SW? The Yorubas have no national influence in the PDP, make una dey deceive una self, shebi we saw how wike insulted Bode George and the SW, you think pdp would have constructed the Lagos-Ibadan railway? I just pity the way the SW keep dancing btw pdp and apc, always trying to be politically correct and not reasoning well, Abia state despite the bad governance keeps voting pdp, the SE will never vote for any APC governor no matter how good they are. I wish a thread can be created for people on the student route in the UK so that people coming on this route can learn from the mistake of others and be mentally prepared before coming in. Honestly the student route does not favour single students at all if you haven't paid at least 70% of your school fees, even at that it's still a struggle since you are limited to 20 hours of work per week. It's a bit easier for couples since one of them can work unlimited hours per week. True a lot of mental preparation is needed. |

There are jobs and there are good opportunities in the UK as it stands. He has forgotten that he is talking about a 3.5 Trillion Dollar Economy capacity that can absorb loads and loads of labour.
If you ask me, I would say choose a good course and also strive to take some professional certifications like Business Analysis, CIMA, ACCA, HR-CPD, OSHI for safety guys, Project management, ect..... Some of these certificates are short and can be taken online now. Sharpen your skills; these are what matter now for young people who japa from Nigeria. Honestly I'm not Tinbu fan or apc but before even Tinubu decided to join the race my own people has be insulting him and his tribe saying they will never vote or support SW candidate so their hatred is not because its Tinubu but against anything Yoruba.
Remember how these same haters of humanity hate Osibanjo is Osibanjo same parent with Tinubu? No. These same people are the ones throwing insults on osibanjo calling him thief, useless, vp position is unconstitutional, he should resign etc.
So what you SW are seen right now its not about Tinubu it's a a foolish sleep and put heads one direction mofis rom my region believing in lies of the civil war that is running in their blood. I say these with no apology.

ttmacoy: Yes you are right many of these universities are aimed at making money from international students, and this isn’t helped given the average Nigerian youth here in nairaland is looking for a cheap university that has easy entry requirements.
It’s like someone I know doing MBA at Northampton then wondering why he is not getting good job offers like the better schools like LBS etc, well that’s the price when you seek cheap school with no gmat etc entry requirements so just quick and easy.
Many times these students do not understand the way recruitment works, and by the time they figure it out it’s usually late with recruitments programs closed and filled up. The universities right now need the money cos all the funding they normally get from the EU is no more after Brexit happened and it's currently a bonanza with £26 billion pounds alone entering the UK through international students in 2021. It's left to folks who are smart to leverage on it to get into the UK system and labour market. Truth is except if you really want to get into the big corporates which are even changing now a degree in the UK doesn't really matter, it's all skills, skills, and skills. And the more specialised the better the chances. The UK is more skill and credentials driven. Our folks should start getting smarter and apart from the degree, acquire a specialised skill be it IT or other sectors. Some stuff we normally run away from is what pays here more like mental health, special needs education for children, and some specialised IT skills like programming, data science and so on. Being too generalised will be a struggle. It's time to get more specialised skills that can get work permits and so on. This is the truth about the UK, having just an MBA or studying HR or project management is becoming more harder to break into the market. Even those studying public health, I wonder what they will do with it except they go into core medical research which is another specialised area folks should look at. Personally I just enrolled for a course in Salesforce CRM even though it's more popular in north America, It's gradually gaining ground too in the UK currently. Where I work, I decided to volunteer around the issues of Net zero climate issues and financial reporting which anyone in the financial services or industry should be thinking about as accounting standards are becoming tailored towards that area, mind you am not an accountant but that's what is happening right now. Being too genralised and just doing a degree if you are in the UK is becoming a struggle to get that dream job except if you want to remain in a care home or just do any kind of job to survive. This is what is causing all manner of frustrations currently, especially for those who have been here so long. It's time to get more specialised and those dream jobs will come looking for you. My thoughts |

The next stage of their agitation will be massive and extremely violent. The UGM activities in my opinion was a niger delta militant kind of strategy to blackmail both the pdp and apc to field igbo candidates for an igbo presidency, once that failed especially when PO left for the Labour Party, their last card now is to channel all that energy and see how PO will fair in next year elections, if that fails too of course expect all manner of agitations again like we saw after 2015. What just surprise me is the way kanu has been forgotten about so easily, perhaps the Igbo presidency is the main agitation masked by secession agenda. |
