Dont know where you got this statistics from and the security clearance thing from but this could be misleading people.

When I arrived the uk, 45k was about the least I was offered and I know there are sectors that pay much more like IT and Tech. And I dont even think 45k is high paying particularly if you stay around the london area
Am not misleading people pls, this is why I hardly comment on sensitive stuff like this here cos some folks will want to impose their personal experience on folks here who don't even have the kind of qualifications others have to land such roles. How many folks entering the Uk have prior IT skills to land high-paying roles or is it everyone that is into IT? What some of us are saying is please don't put too much pressure on newbies who are still trying to understand the environment. Are we saying nobody should aspire higher? Let's help people manage their expectations so they don't make baseless assumptions.

Honestly, your somewhere can be from 40k, it doesn’t have to be lower than that. However, this is industry dependent as some industries don’t pay a lot. Also, this has nothing to do with classism because I never mentioned this. it’s just setting a standard for yourself and it’s also a personal preference so to each their own really. If my standards appear to be unrealistic or offends anyone then that’s their problem not mine.
Let's be a bit realistic, except you get a high skilled job directly from outside the UK, it's almost impossible to even get a 40k job in few months after arriving as most high paying jobs may require security clearance that requires at least six months residence in the uk. I agree we shouldn't put too much pressure on folks who are just coming in as it may be counter productive. Rather we should encourage people to work their way up to that high paying level.

Am a stickler for the slow and steady rise in the uk system. I've seen those who even rigged their cvs to get these high paying jobs and they fail to deliver on the job and some got sacked to go back to square 1.

The good thing about the UK system is that it rewards your experience and consistency in the long run. Let's take it easy guys.

Please what amount can we now classify as "not shyte" money?

While some people will be fortunate to get a high paying job immediately some people will struggle and it is not because they are not trying. So, let's be careful with our words so not to get some people depressed!!

I was stuck in a low paying job for years because the company was sponsoring my visa. I applied to hundreds of jobs but none wanted to sponsor me. I was really miserable but there was nothing I could do about it. After I got my ILR, the story changed. All the people that had gone ahead of me I overtook. So slow and steady sometimes win the race.
I love stories like this and I hope people learn from this. Sometimes the way we compare ourselves to others is just unecessary. Individuals are unique and experiences will differ. Thanks for sharing

Don't waste your time correcting fools, they will never listen. At the end of the day they will say everybody hates them.

The igbos are bad competitors and hate competition. Even business or trading they claim to be good at is premised on attacks on others through counterfeits at cheaper prices or deliberate pricing way below market to outwit others. That's what they call smartness in their eyes. To compete healthily with others is impossible

you guys should stop these lies, osinbajo is equally hated, if osinbajo was the candidate, his association with tinubu would have been used to campaign against him too. is it not the association of oyetola with tinubu that also moved people against his second term campaign in osun state.

One of Tinubu's biggest mistake that will continue to haunt him was his decision to start the trend of appointing Igbos into Lagos state cabinet. Maybe he thought that would endear those ingrates to him but that policy decision has failed because that hasn't stopped them from not only hating him but even having the effrontery to demand for more slots, as if they're the only non-yorubas in the state.

Awolowo made a similar mistake when he chose an igbo candidate (Phillip Umeadi) as his running mate in 1979. Till today I can't fathom what he was smoking for him to have made such a foolish decision of choosing a southern running mate, and an igbo at thathuh Any Yoruba person that tries to please or trust them will live to regret it.
even amosun as governor appointed an igbo an perm sec, honestly, yoruba political leaders always want to be politically correct and continue to allow SW to be a testing ground for political correctness to the disadvantage of the SW.

You didn't get my point. I said, "if people vote according to their faith, Obi will win this election before 12:00 o clock on election day." I said that for you to know that christain votes are not insignificant. It is a good thing that this muslim-muslim ticket is waking up Nigeria christains from their slumber. N believe me churches are mobilizing now. There will be a lot of turn out among christains this year.

For your point about senatorial and house of rep elections, those are local elections. People vote for candidates in local elections and not party. The current deputy Senate president got to the Senate in his first tenure via Labour Party, not APC. Don't be suprise that an APC senatorial candidate from South East/South South will work for LP/PDP in presidential election, but will still win his senatorial election with APC. Everybody will fight for his/herself first before the party.

With the introduction of BIVAS, nobody can write results in their room again. The edge the north east n north west have over the North Central, South/South and South East in particular is that they have a land border with Chad, Niger, and Cameroun, so they can go recruit their brothers in Chad and Niger to vote this year. If the north truly have the population as they want us in the South to believe, you won't be seeing pictures of children voting on election all over the North. We keep hyping them too much. The reason a lot of people in the South don't vote is because the major parties don't present candidates that excite them. I can never stand under the sun to go n vote Tinubu or Atiku. In fact, next election is the first time I will ever vote in Nigeria. And Peter Obi is the reason I want to go n vote. For your information, I have been a presiding officer in a polling unit during my NYSC year and I am knowledgeable about the mentality of voter's and electioneering process. I will be surprised if Obi actually win. But he will win a lot of states in the South, including my state Delta State. There was a time in Delta State that unknown people ( one was even a teacher in a government primaty school) defeated incumbent state house of assembly and even house of representative members in Delta State with a mushroom party. Guess the name of the party? Democratic People's Party. That is why I am confident that Obi will win Delta State in 2023.

If it is for vested interest, APC will lose this election. How many people are benefiting from this government compared to those that are feeling the effects of the bad policies of this govt. In fact, the reason most people are going to register for PVC is to vote out APC. That's how bad they have angered a lot of people. APC don't have anything to campaign with. They just want to play the religious card in the North and the tribal card in the South West. That's the reason for the divisive politics. For now, the tribal card seems not to be working on most of my Yoruba friends. But February is still a long time. A lot can change between now and February.
but it's the same religious card Obi supporters and PDP are playing against the APC with all the noise about mm ticket. Guy it's a game and may be best competitor win but to say it's based on performance and the hardship people are facing, it's a lie. If APC don't have nothing to campaign with, what does PDP who ruled before APC have to campaign with or a greenhorn like LP or Obi. It's neither here nor there bruv.

All parties are using the instrumentality of religion, it now depends on who deploys it the more. Let no one tell me it's about competence or performance. And No in Nigeria we don't vote according to Faith if not GEJ wouldn't have won in 2011

Umahi and other Southeast govs need to rally round their own because charity begins at home.

For your information, Muslims alone cannot produce the president of Nigeria. If people vote according to their faith, Peter Obi will win this election before 12:00 o clock. There are more christain majority states in Nigeria than Muslim-majority states. Stop hyping the Northerners. If they can produce the president alone, Buhari would have won in 2011.

There is no northern states without indigenous christain population. Kaduna, Adamawa, and Gombe has nearly 50 per cent christain population. Plateau, Taraba, and Benue are states with christain-majority but are all lumped into North. All Northern states, include Borno, Yobe, Zamfara, Katsina, and Sokoto have indigenous christain population. With the exception of Edo, I don't even know any state in the South South and South East with an indigenous Muslim community. I am from Delta State. There is no indigenous Muslim community in the whole of Delta State. Not one.

The only reason for this affront on christainity is because christains don't vote naturally. But with this Muslim Muslim ticket, expect a lot of voter's turn out from christains in this election. APC are aware of this. That is why they arrange the charade of christain bishops to create the impression that christains are in support of Muslim Muslim ticket. I am glad the church is getting involved in politics. Let the encourage all their members to get their PVC and vote or else christainity will become a second class religion in Nigeria.
And you think a good number of Christians will not vote for either APC or PDP that their candidates are Muslims?

Where you guys miss is thinking it's only about the presidency, we have senate and House of representatives elevation happening simultaneously same day and same time and there are both Christians and Muslims on those ballots too. That is why you folks will be shocked seeing the APC pooling lots of votes in areas you won't expect. Na rigging people go shout at the end of the day.

The Muslims mobilise themselves more and don't make all these noise pastors are making up and down

Politics is personal and interests based and all across the nation there are vested interests everywhere beyond the presidency. The APC already know where their bulk of votes will come from and also the PDP.

INTRODUCTION OF CONSTITUTIONAL AND OTHER MAJOR CHANGES IN NIGERIAN POLITICS

*He was the first gubernatorial candidate in Nigeria to legally challenge to its logical conclusion, his governorship electoral victory that was denied him. He won in the Courts and reclaimed his mandate.

*He was the first Governor in Nigeria to legally challenge his wrongful impeachment and was reinstated by the Courts.

*He was the first Governor in Nigeria to seek the interpretation of tenures of Governors when INEC allowed elections to take place in Anambra State when his tenure had not expired; the election already concluded was cancelled and he was allowed to complete his tenure.

*He was the first Governor to serve a 2nd term in both the new and old Anambra State, that is, almost 40 years after creation of the State.

*He was the first Governor, whilst still in Office, to be appointed a Special Adviser to the President.

*He was the first serving Governor to be appointed into the Presidential Economic Management Team.

*He was among the first Governors to be honoured with a National Award in 2011, while still in office.

*Though the only Governor whose political party was in government in only one State, he was elected Vice-Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum twice.

*Though the only non-PDP Governor in the South-East (made up of 5 States), he was elected by the other 4 PDP Governors as their Chairman for 8 years rather than the usual one year.

FUNDAMENTAL ACHIEVEMENTS AS GOVERNOR OF ANAMBRA STATE (PARTIAL LISTING)

1. Anambra was the first State to commence Sub-Sovereign Wealth savings, the first of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa. At a time many other Governors were leaving huge debts, I left the equivalent of $500 million Dollars in investment as well as local and foreign currency, including $156 million in Dollar-denominated bonds.

2. For the first time in the history of Anambra State, Ambassadors and High Commissioners of notable countries such as United Stated, Britain, Russia, European Union, South Africa, Belgium, Israel, the Netherlands, Canada, among others, visited the State. Before my tenure, Anambra was practically a pariah state blacklisted by the Diplomatic Corps and international development partners.

3. Development partners such as UNDP, UNICEF, the World Bank, DFID, the European Union etc., which hitherto were not in Anambra State started working with the State. Anambra was consistently adjudged one of the best states in development partnership and commitment to reforms for good governance.

4. He was recognised as Best Governor by the Millennium Development Goals Office (OSSAP-MDGs) and the UNDP in the implementation of their programmes in Nigeria.

5. The Nigerian Debt Management Office (DMO) rated Anambra as the least indebted state in Nigeria. In spite of visible and measurable achievements recorded in various sectors, the State under him did not borrow or raise bonds for her various projects.

6. The Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria rated Anambra State as the most financially stable state in the country.

7. The State's ground-breaking return of schools to their original owners - Voluntary Agencies (Churches) on 1st January 2009, and subsequent partnership with the Agencies in Education, saw the State move from 24th position out of 36 States to Number One in National Examination Council (NECO) and West African Examination Council (WAEC) examinations for three consecutive years. This made the World Bank to commission a study, led by the renowned Prof. Paul Collier of Oxford University, on this revolutionary partnership and phenomenal achievement.

8. The State also entered into strategic partnership with the Churches in the Health sector. This symbiotic relationship resulted in a tremendous boost to health care because of the services offered by health institutions owned by Voluntary Agencies, while the State restored grants to the agencies and made available to them more than 50 million Dollars in various types of support.

10. Through partnership with the Church in the Health sector, his Government funded the transformation of -:

a: Iyienu Hospital, Ogidi;
b: Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Ihiala;
c: St Charles Borromeo Hospital, Onitsha;
d: Holy Rosary Hospital, Waterside, Onitsha; and
e: St. Joseph Hospital, Adazi-Nnukwu.
His Government also built the Joseph Nwilo Heart Centre in St. Joseph, Adazi-Nnukwu, where heart operations are now being performed.

11. His Government won the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (1 Million dollars) as the best-performing state in immunisation in the South-East. With complementary funding from our Government, they used the money to build 10 Maternal and Child Care Centres across the State, particularly in rural communities, in partnership with the Churches.

12. The State was the first to procure and distribute more than 30,000 computers to secondary schools, including 22,500 from HP. The Managing Director for Personal Systems Group HP Inc, Mr. FabriceCampoy described the deployment as the biggest of such projects in the Middle-East and Africa.

13. Anambra State Government provided Microsoft Academies to more than 500 secondary schools, which the Head of Microsoft in Nigeria (Mr. Ken Span) described as the biggest such deployment in Africa so far.

14. The State provided Internet access to more than 500 secondary schools, which the CEO of Galaxy Backbone (Mr. Gerald Ilukwe) characterized as incomparable to any in the country.

15. More than 700 buses were provided to secondary schools in the State by our Government.

16. Boreholes were provided in schools all over the State.

17. Numerous classrooms were built in all the 177 communities of the State.

18 As part of the efforts to turn around the economy of the State, a number of companies were attracted to build their facilities in the Anambra State. A case in point is SABMiller, the 2nd largest brewery in the world, which built their first Green Field facility in the State, which is today one of the most successful facilities they operate globally.

19. A number of other companies followed the SABMiller initiative and were all supported and encouraged under our Government; a good example is INNOSON Motor Manufacturing Company, from which our government bought more than 1,000 vehicles.

20. Anambra State for the first time started close collaboration with recognized government security agencies (the Police, Army, Navy, Department of State Security, Civil Defence, among others), offering them various types of support including provision of more than 500 security vehicles. The improvement in security was phenomenal, such that the former IG of Police (Abubakar Mohammed) lauded Anambra State for not witnessing any bank robbery in my last three years in office.

21. To further enhance security, Anambra State provided at least one security vehicle to each of all the 177 communities in the State as well as various organizations such as markets and Churches.

22. His Administration conceived and built, from scratch, the first state-owned Teaching Hospital, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu teaching Hospital, Awka.

23. His Government commenced the planned development of the Igbariam Campus of the ChukwuemekaOdumegwu-Ojukwu University, including the fencing, construction of internal roads, electrification, construction of the Faculty of Law, Auditorium, Administrative Block, Faculty of Agriculture, Management Building, among others).

24. His Government attracted the World Bank support on erosion - National Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP) - to Anambra State.

25. His Government was the first to do Poverty Mapping in Nigeria, as a guide for the effective implementation of our poverty-alleviation strategies.

26 His Government, for the first time, undertook the aerial mapping of Awka as well as the production of Structure Plans for Awka Capital Territory, Onitsha and Nnewi.

27. During his tenure and with his Government's support, Anambra State became an oil producing State.

28. He built the first Secretariat Complex to house State Government Ministries that were hitherto scattered around the State.

29. His government commenced the development of the 'Three Arms Zone' comprising Government House/Governor’s Lodge, Legislative Building/Speakers Residence, and Judiciary Building with Chief Judge’s Residence.

30. By the end of his tenure in 2014, more than twelve (12) health institutions, including two hospitals, had secured accreditation; when we took off in 2006, no health institution in Anambra State was duly accredited.

31. Anambra State was the first to undergo national peer review, which scrutinised State Governments for good governance, through the State Peer Review Mechanism (SPRM), an initiative of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum in collaboration with the DFID.

Do you want to see Peter Obi run for the office of the President?
Most of the things here are just Obi certificates and paper work for Anambra. It's difficult to point out any innovative and critical infrastructure here, looks like the ebonyi governor or some northern governors dwarf Obi in terms of achievement. Not strong enough for shot at presidency.

e go hard Obi but nice try. If Tinubu and Shettima bring out their achievements and stuff they did in their states as past governors, this Obi own go be child's play.

I like the op, he is a very sincere Nigerian and he represents millions of folks out there who are undecided.

This is where the obedients are missing it. Lots of Nigerians are still undecided and this is where the apc or pdp will edge it.

Whoever gets majority of the undecided voters out there wins 2023 elections and its certainly not Obi with the way his supporters are bullying everyone out there.

The unecessary noise about the mm ticket may play into the hands of undecided voters

There is a difference in investing money of the government to give the government and the State profit which Peter Obi did, compared to siphoning State money which Tinubu did. This is not my opinion but fact. Tinubu is all corrupt and you can not tell me you see such a corrupt person as the solution to Nigeria's economic woes.
You are justifying Obi corruption just like Tinubu supporters will defend his own too. You are not different from them sir

Obi has no track record for solution to Nigeria's economic woes. All na grammar and hype

TheGoodJoe:

There is a difference with preferred candidate and an open corrupt person. How can Tinubu who is a known Drug dealer, a serial looter, a confiscator of Lagos revenue, a serial briber as he did during the primaries be the solution?

Anyone supporting Tinubu is out of personal greed and not the best interest of Nigeria.
That's your opinion which is different from others.

Folks too see Obi as a fraudster who invested govt money into family business. It depends on what and who you believe

As long as they don’t incite people to cause chaos through their campaigns for their preferred candidate, it’s a good thing they’ve chosen a side , let them work towards him winning the election , others should work for their candidates as well , every mallam with em kettle .

You are the one who refuse to see the facts and evidence, now obi did not transform Anambra or he is not a miracle worker but at least he did his best in saving for Anambra, he is among the few past governor not receiving bugus pensions.

Go and check out tinubu's pension as a past governor of lagos, or why is he using his personal company to collect taxes from lagos.

Or Atiku that use intel to collect billions of Naira from Nigeria ports until Buhari became president and ended npa contract with intel.

If you think these two persons should be president over obi then there's something wrong with u.
Did Obi not put abi na invest govt money into family business? Obi sef no pure but only you guys think he is an angel over the others. Like I said no hard fact out there on what he really did for anambra. All we hear is saving money even his successors can't verify.

Obi is overrated, simple. I I insist he's a product of anger over the other politicians.

So u to you, tinubu and Atiku are better candidates than obi?
Of course in my opinion they are better, more exposed and more experienced.

Obi is just a product of anger and agitations for people who just want an alternative to the major parties which is well justified but to say he is more competent than the other two candidates is an exaggeration. The hype on obi is just emotional

No hard fact and evidence out there that he is the best. It's just talk, talk talk
