Politics › Re: Zoning Vs Winning The Election: South-South Cannot Win Presidency - Tambuwal by Goke7: 2:34pm On Mar 22, 2022
TheAviator:
I commend you so much for the way you tried to make your point that Igbo people deserve the Presidency this time. The way you submitted your points without insulting and cursing other tribes is very mature and could pass as superior arguments.

But we need to understand that zoning or not, Igbos need to come out, contest, and lobby other parts of the nation to support them. For example, why didn't Governor Peter Obi join the race? The guy is very well qualified to be President. Even in previous elections which were zoned, people from other regions still contested against the candidates from the region to which the election was zoned.

No region has been faithful to the PDP as the South East has been, so I can't understand why folks like Peter Obi are leaving PDP's ticket to guys like Atiku and Tambuwal. Igbos shouldn't wait for the ticket to be dropped on their laps. They should slug it out with people from other regions and give it what it takes. Who says an Igbo aspirant can't defeat an aspirant from the North.

As for the APC, the bitter truth is that the political dynamics that formed the party don't favor Igbos. I am not saying this because I am from the South West, I am saying this because that's the fact, just as I would not hesitate to say that the political reality in PDP doesn't favor a Yoruba aspirant because I don't need anybody to tell me that my people haven't been loyal to the PDP.

Right from when APC was being formed circa 2013, 2014, and 2015, I knew it that those working hard to form the party such as Tinubu, had their own ambitions and were working to build a strong platform to stand on and to run on. If anybody thinks that people like Tinubu who worked hard to form APC would one day discard their ambitions for people who didn't work as hard as they did to form the party, that is acute political naivety.

The bitter truth is that the aloofness of the Igbos toward the APC will not favor them in that party. The earlier we face this fact, the better. But there is a strong party to which the Igbos have been faithful and loyal. The Igbos are entitled, yes, entitled to that party's Presidential ticket, and that's the PDP. But I am bemused that the Igbos seem to have surrendered that party's ticket to Atiku.
The igbos can take lots of risks in business but not in politics, can any of them even with their deep pockets spend like Atiku or BAT, that's why I laugh when I hear how they are the richest in Ngeria per head in terms of GDP and all those funny statistics they reel out. So don't be surprised Peter Obi surrendering easily, how much did he spend in the last election grin.

Elections, presidency especially in Nigerian terms is too expensive and risky at the same time, e take strong liver to even try grin

You made good points. But presidency, especially in the present day Nigeria is not handed to anybody on platter. Up till now, we have not seen any serious minded person showing interest from the SE.

On a normal day, this is the right time for whoever is serious from SE region to start pushing and be making himself heard so the noise of zoning to SE can get louder but alas! the reverse is the case, the potential good candidates are all quiet.

Mind you, for south east presidency to succeed it needs serious consultation e.g with a certain Jagaban from the SW and the power brokers from the north. Cajole them, rub their ego and play on their sentiment BUT not threatening them.
The igbos will tell you they don't beg anyone for anything grin they want you to just dash them anything they want, anyhow, anytime

It's not the turn of the Southsouth, it's the turn of the southeast.
The silence of the Southeast should worry everyone .. rightfully it's our turn to elad this great nation.. we are not more bedeviled with problems than any other tribe yet we are being denied our rightful shot at the fixing this nation .
Some people have asked me have we fixed the southeast ? I laugh because other regions have ruled yet they are still battling myriad problems so why are my people being denied our turn?

Salty suddenly zoning that has been used by every region to secure the slot has been jettisoned now it's the turn of my people and it Futher makes us feel disenfranchised and and marginalized.

Then tomorrow you turn around and wonder why sesssionists had such a willing ear in the people to listen?

You can't deny a people their rights and make them feel less and expect them to willingly want to stay in Nigeria .. that is wrong and tantamount to bullying.

Who in his or her right conscience can say it's not the turn of the Igbos ? Please who can in good honest faith say this ?

Why push a people so hard to the point just telling yourself they can do nothing ? Really ? A nation can never be built by brute force but by inter Corporations and unity. Let me tell you my fellow NIGERIANS , IPOB didn't have up to 10% of the Igbo people support forget those iliterate touts and their social media propaganda. But to deny my people our right this time around for whatever reason is telling the remaining 90% of us who rejected ipob that maybe just maybe those touts have a point.

Yes power isn't given ,yes I agree but as ever other region had it zoned to them and a consensus picked so should it be done for the Southeast. To deny us our right is to do what Chinese is doing to Taiwan, to do what Israel doing to Palestine, to do what ImUAE is doing to shites..

Forget whatever we tell ourselves, each and every one of you my fellow country men and women know it's the turn of my people. I would have taught the great Asiwaju a defender of justice would have picked an Igbo man as his chosen candidate, that would have sent the message that he recodnizes that's it's rightfully our turn and that he stands for justice.

Anyways it's his right to run for office but like I said, to deny us is going to send a very strong message to every single Igbo man, woman ,boy and girl child that we are not recodnized and wanted in this country and I am afraid that would have a very dire repercussions in inter ethnic relations . I don't think buhari is in support of it not being an Igbo person infact I am shocked to admit from his a tions one can deduce he feels rightly it should be an Igbo person..

Alas time will tell

It will surprise you that that guy will have a bevy of beautiful ladies at his beck and call.

And I doubt he will get ruined. The cancel solidarity culture isn't so rife here. Maybe a few multinational clients might raise some reputational concerns but all he has to tell them is that he's already taking steps to resolve the "internal issues" and improve public perception. He's unlikely to lose many clients especially if his firm delivers top-notch services.
You are very right, he will surely get away with this, especially in a country where we worship money and metrics.

But in the long run, it will tell on him and his business, the reason a lot of Nigerian startups don't last and can never last. Or He will sell up the start-up to an organisation that has a better work culture or a terrible one which will eventually be their demise. This has always been the case over time

the western world is no better, it's the large number of options and opportunities that one can easily move on to that makes it kind of better as you can easily move to a better place to work. The little amount of job opportunities for Nigerians is the major problem. Here in the west employers and agencies chases us like mad so you have options

A Frenchman slapped Macron. In court he said the French president came close to him without mask during the pandemic . The man was acquitted.

Even with social distance sitting arrangement , The former first unlady left her seat and went to Bianca . Put her hands on her . Invaded her space . Gaddemit in Texas , Bianca could shoot her dead and still win an election . The slap is just a token in my opinion
Bianca's popularity is why we can make all manner of assumptions, I bet you if the roles were reversed with Bianca being slapped by Obiano's wife, folks will still take sides with Bianca and not Obiano's wife.

I will continue to watch the political scene and pray that a very popular person gets slapped by someone the popular person provoked. I will wait to see Nigerians reactions. We are very funny people and our memory very short.

Initially when the news broke, folks were saying it was bianca who got slapped unit we saw the actual video.

Me thinks they want to take over the market from Canada and US in the near future with the visa categories they are looking to implement

They should just change for student visas and make time spent schooling also count towards ILR

Waiting to see what they will come up with when the scale up visa is finally released in detail
The UK is conservative, they will still make things hard, good as it sounds the scale-up visa does not make too much sense to me, why categorize some companies as scale-up and list them on a website, who does that? The main thing here is the visa sponsorship issue which won't be in scale-up visas so what happens to companies that are not seen as scale-up. If you want to change employer from a scale-up company to another that is not on the scale-up list then you're back to looking for sponsorship again. The definition of a scale-up company is somehow not making much sense. Currently in Ireland, if you get a job offer in the skill shortage category, you can apply for a work visa directly yourself with no sponsorship ish. This is what the UK is supposed to be looking at especially post-Brexit. The Post-study visa is good but not making it count towards ILr is not making sense. You can't say folks who have worked for more than 3 years with both student and post-study visas, gotten valuable experience don't deserve visa extension and make it count towards ilr. I just find the UK immigration rules at times funny. Even refugees in the UK has more rights than skilled professionals. It's laughable

If the story as reported is true, how does Bianca know it was whiskey on her breath and not rum or cognac? As an Ambassador (Ms. Ojukwu) and on such occasion, the right thing would have been was to call the security details to deal with the situation, that would have been a dignified way and above the frail. To rise above an agbero lady (if it happened the way it was reported). What does she has to lose if she walks away. If she wasn't who she is, (wife of Ikemba and an Ambassador) she could have been arrested or both could have been arrested. The event was for Soludo and nobody else.
Bianca is culpable, an Ambassador for that matter. Not classy at all.

It's a shame those are supporting the slap. Agreed the former Governor's wife is a rascal but with the way we are all justifying the slap let's get ready for more public slaps, especially in this season of politicking. Obiano's wife is not popular among the people hence it's easy to take sides with Bianca but I hope when a more popular and accepted public individual is given a dirty slap in public I hope we will take sides too with 'slapper' and vilify the 'slappee' like we are doing.

What is not good is not good.

Hi guys, please permit me to post this question here, I just need advice from people already living in the UK

Please I have offers from Bournemouth university and Kingston university to study Adult nursing msc and I am having trouble deciding which to pick . I am well aware that Kingston is close to London so rent is so high but my husband is a banker and feels there would be more opportunities for him closer to London. Now if I pick Kingston are there areas with affordable rent we can live in , that is not so far from school ?

Please I would love to hear from people who have lived in Bournemouth or surrey please

Thank you
Just my own view, the craze about London is unnecessary, most big firms have offices all around major locations in UK and I kind of advise people coming newly to the UK to go to places like 4 or 5 hours away from London to lower their costs of living especially housing to get a good start.

Another advantage is that it's kind of easier to break into these major firms from their locations far away from London as the competition for roles might be not be as stiff as the London area. Take for instance a firm like pwc they have offices all over UK and in Wales where I currently reside. I and a friend just recently secured roles in their Cardiff office and my friend's specialty is in financial compliance something close to your husband's. I secured a role as a business analyst waiting to start in April while my friend started this last Monday.

So don't get worked up about the London thing, go to a place where the cost of living is lower as a new comer and with remote or even hybrid system of working, your husband can still secure a job anywhere even in London and might have to commute once or twice a week but then as I said earlier, most big firms have offices in various locations around the UK. Big organisations are recruiting massively currently all over locations in UK so wherever your location in UK is you are not really at a disadvantage. My two cents.

If Russia doesn't want Ukraine to join the west because it'll compromise its security, then it should offer them a better deal than the west.

The west didn't hold Ukraine at gun point to sign any document. They simply offered them a good enough choice.

Russia can offer them better but Putin would rather play God and force the people to accept his way.

There's something called human rights, clearly some of you still haven't come to terms with freedom of choice.

Putin is not a God to tell Ukraine who or what they want to do with their resources, land mass or people.
Thank you jare, you sabi book, the world is a free place and no one should dictate to a sovereign nation what they like. Is that not the problem of Nigeria, where someone in Sokoto wants to decide for another person in Calabar and lord it over. I agree with what someone on this forum said some days ago. First of all, let me say your moniker "lesbianboy" is irresponsible and childish.

Secondly, you cannot make the same mistakes our parents made in the 70s and 80s where they thought Nigeria would get better and hence didn't travel out on time to a better life abroad. My dad is regretting why he didn't listen to the advise of his friend back then who told him to move to the US when he had the chance. Now, getting US visa be like going to heaven grin grin grin

Of course, most people I know in the US are buying up houses here and doing well. Let no one deceive you, life abroad is not easy, but they have job security and a better life than most Nigerians claim they have. Remember $2000 is 1m.

I kid you not, check out most of our politicians and business men who are doing well in the country today, most of them have foreign background as their parents travelled out back in the days and secured a path for their kids to follow

I advise that if you have money, seek the Canadian route and secure a PR for yourself and family so that if buhari decides to burn the country, you can have a second option. Your kids should have dual or triple citizenship.. our politicians all have more than one citizenship, a word is enough for the wise.

If you're young and have money, better start searching for abroad routes.....

My 2 cents.

Meanwhile check out this view from Iowa. US
@the bolded, exactly what I told my wife today, Nigerians who travelled abroad to study from the generations of the Awolowo and Fani Kayode's father even his grandfather all paved the way for their children and grandchildren who are all enjoying today. Those who say going abroad is not the best are all liars. Today most wealthy Nigerians have investments abroad. Nigeria has become a workplace for our politicians and businessmen while abroad is now home for themselves and their families. Nigerians have been lied to

I disagreed with you entirely. The curse you placed here cannot work rather it will work against you. I received it in my spirit that you are not a Yoruba.

The Araba of Ife whose family hosted IFA on his appearance on this part of the world will even curse you if he reads what you have written here. The priests of various deities will also curse you. While I have nothing to do with your political system I cannot resist making comments after much provocation by statements made by people.

Afenifere is not a socio cultural organisation that is formed for partisan politics purpose. In 2014, Afenifere became the PDP machinery of South West ably supported by OPC of Frederick Fasheun and Gani Adams factions. In 2014 and early 2015, Afenifere leadership in paid advertorial covering pages of Newspapers wrote the Political history of Awolowo Political Group from Action Group to UPN just to attack Chief Bisi Akande. Chief Bisi Akande was attacked because of Tinubu and APC. 2021 / 2022, Afenifere under Pa Ayo Adebanjo has started again.

In 1998 after the death of Abacha, Pa Abraham Adesanya gave Abdulsalami Abubakar the 5 Cardinal points of Afenifere as the demand of the South West people. Abiola was still alive by then. Ojukwu said with all due respect, those requests were not achievable. During Abacha regime, Uche Chukwumerije and later, Walter Offornagoro was the Minister of Information. We witnessed leaders and traditional rulers every week coming to pay homage to Abacha in Abuja from South East. No leaders or traditional rulers from the North ever paid such homage.

In Late 1998 before the PDP primary, we witnessed monumental attacks against Obasanjo. The attack was even more than the attack against Tinubu, the saving grace for Obj was the absence of Social media. They spent money and resources against Obj but the NORTH was not after noise but trust. At the end of the day Obj won.

The Yorubas are surrounded by enemies who never supported or wish the Yorubas well . The gods are supposed to be concerned about the enemies of the Yorubas. Uche Chukwumerije and Walter Offornagoro psychological warfare against the Yorubas, Arthur Nzeribe's ABN, Daniel Kanus YEAA and Jim Nwobodo manipulation of GDM 's primary are political machinery against the Yorubas. The former chairman of Vanguard Editorial Board Mr. Ochereome Nnanna, described the Yorubas as "sophisticated morons". He called Yorubas Sophisticated monron because of APC recognition of Abiola's victory at June12 polls. These people never voted Abiola apart from Anambra where Ezeife narrowly delivered for SDP. They fought Abiola, they said they can never be Secretary to FGN. They said Secretary is a man that serves his master tea. They said the IBO cannot be Secretary to FGN while Yoruba is the President.

No tribe likes Yorubas in Nigeria. Yorubas maintains an open mind and never cares about any tribe. The opposition within Yoruba alone is more than external opposition.

Afenifere opposed Tinubu in 2014 / 2015. Again, 2021 / 2022, they have started. Were they created to oppose Bisi Akande and Tinubu? The gods of the Yorubas are gods of justice who will never allow someone to labour for another to eat. He that works must eat.

In PDP, under Jonathan government , all the juicy appointments were shared by them. No developments in South West. The Chairmanship of PDP zoned to South West was given to Secondus, Bode George and South West team were shamefully disgraced by PDP to the extent that Bode George swore never to attend any PDP meeting in Port Harcourt again. The gods and Afenifere did not see that one. Afenifere being part of PDP in 2014 / 2015 can only dictate to PDP. They have no stake in APC. They should allow those who have stakes in APC determine what happens in APC. That is how Yoruba gods work.
