DonFreshmoney: PDP should adopt Obaseki. To me he is more popular than all their 3 aspirants combined. You cant be more popular than a sitting governor (good or bad)..most times negative criticism is also good publicity
Politics is all about taking risk, PDP should take the risk and give obaseki the ticket. He has more financial leg and spending power than their 3 aspirants combined, he will only do 4 years in office, that ize ize iyamu of a fool might want to do 8 years which means edo south may hold power for 12 years.. I am sure people from edo central and north should calculate and allow obaseki complete his tenure so power return to their constituency. kikero: Yes, school cert holders rule us, because most of us educated people leave our villages, head to the city, get a job, and are completely disconnected from the lives of the ordinary people.
Some time ago, I read about a guy from a village who was complaining that after graduating, he had no job...meanwhile, his agemate, who finished primary 6, was a councillor.
The truth is, his primary 6 agemate stayed at home, became a local leader, and as a result, when politics came calling, nautrally the people of the village voted for the leader they saw, not the one that was in some far off country....studying.
The problem I have with online discussion sites is that we sit down and build castles in the sky all day long. But we won't go to our home towns, or even at least join a poltical party, start from the bottom, and build our way to the top. We even call poltics a dirty game....and refuse to even take part. Meanhwile, the 'certificateless and lifeless ones' go and do the hardwork, and build connections, grow their followership, and work hard....and build up their party.
While we sit down in our air-conditoned offices, quaff beer at night, and hold 'learned discussions' about 'the situation in Nigeria'
Instead of complaining about lifeless politicians, go and join a party, fail at an election a few times, build your base, and maybe in due time, you will have the power you need to make a change. No body will dash you power. One of the best posts I have ever read on nairaland. Pls do this often or regularly to reduce the influence of blockheads' comments we see here everyday. |

ModestGal: Well, these men never had influence on the common Nigerian. I'm sure he was able to have all that because of the way Nigeria was, but they all destroyed it for us.
Look at his profile and you would wonder if he wasn't born of a woman, yes he was, and he might even be from a poor family, there are many professors like that in UI
A time will come in this country, that we would do thesame thing the black Americans are doing for some statues in the US for some of our elders
A poor person would not be able to achieve what this man achieved in this age, not because he won't be brilliant but because he won't even have access to a good primary education
I do not like the old generation and have no respect for them because the destroyed the lifes of our generation. The old generation did not try at all entitlement mentality, too bad mhen. No one is responsible for misfortune but you! |

pdp is fast becoming a busybody in APC internal matters, how did Clark know Obaseki has done well in Edo state, is he now a resident of Edo state? if the things happening in APC now were happening in pdp and APC governors and chieftains were talking like wike, clark and others were doing, we would have been hearing news from pdp like APC should stay clear off its affairs. If pdp wants to give its ticket to Obaseki let them go ahead nah since Obaseki is the best thing that has happened since slice bread instead of all these statements of why did they embarrass a governor like that. If at the end pdp does not give its ticket to obaseki, then its obvious pdp is just a joke, nonsense |

OfoIgbo: It is not in the SE or SS interest to vote for a SW candidate in 2023. This is especially so, because it was not in the SW interest to vote for a SS president in 2015.
We will shop for a suitable candidate both in the SE, SS and possibly the north, and present such a person as the candidate for 2023, of course keeping tabs on who the APC presents exactly, this is what you guys should be saying and not making empty boasts and threats. It's a game, play the game and let's have a winner and also loser |

proeast: These guys are very funny. They forget that there is nothing noble about asslicking and anyone can easily do that.
They teamed up with the North in 2015 to remove a SS president only to force a disaster on us. Now what stops us in the SE and SS from teaming up with the North to ensure a yoruba does not win in 2023?
They are so self-centered that all they think about is their own interests but they forget that others have their own interests to protect.
If APC fails to give their presidential ticket to an Igbo man then the North (maybe NC or NE) is going to continue from where Buhari stopped because there is no how a Yoruba man should rule again when the Igbos are yet to have their own turn. chest beating, prove it and walk the talk, talk is cheap |
Politics › Re: Just Like In 2015, SW Is About To Betray The South Again In 2023 by Goke7: 3:01pm On Jun 15, 2020 |
OfoIgbo: Unlike during the Abiola era, when every SE and SS state votes against a Yoruba candidate, the SW will have to hustle for votes in the north against a northern PDP candidate.
That is when you will know we have the numbers you guys are lazy and ignorant in Nigerian politics which is your bane look here, at the highest level of political horsetrading, ethnicity and religion are not considered but deep political interests and that is why even politicians from the same village can go against each other cos its all about interests first. Your calculation that yoruba will hustle for votes in the north is not tenable especially looking back in history. It is who the political gladiators trust the most that they work for. This is what we saw in 2011 when gej won and same people who work for him then turn against him in 2015. That is how it works not a south vs north thing. Northerners has voted for southerners and vice versa and it is a dynamic system depending on the swing of political interests. Track records of political participation and those marketing the candidate are also considered. The Yorubas are masters in this game and will settle for a candidate that the northerners will trust barring whoever pdp will pick as candidate whether from the south or north. We know these are your fears and that's why you are begging for both parties to present an igbo candidate which is impossible because the igbos are yet to contribute anything meaningful to APC. You guys can try your luck sha but your sentiments can't win this game. |

We are only seeking for Nigeria to be a just, fair, peaceful and progressive country where every part would have a sense of belonging. However, if these noble demands are not met, then Biafra becomes the only alternative.
The choice is yours to allow peace, progress and equity to reign or we go our way.

cosef: If Sagay and yorubas are sincere and really want southern presidency, let them campaign vigorously for both parties to zone their tickets to the South east. If it is impossible to do so, then they have no right to complain about power staying in the north.
The greed of yoruba and their desperation to ensure the political emasculation of East will keep power in the North.
There is no two ways about it, yorubas have taken their slot as president and should wait for others to take their turn.
Zoning means "turn by turn" , if the yorubas have sworn to be greedy then it is justifiable to keep it in the North. bring your northern candidate, he will still loose in 2023. Mark my words and don't cry foul if that happens, shebi na Atiku una wan flaunt again |
