A man wins the nations cup and the next thing the FA did was to decimate the coaching crew just to get at an individual who refused to allow them run away with their corrupt antics. Where is that done ? Who destroys a winning team? Pinnick has been busy yapping about match readers and all that, yet keshi has been calling for the reinstatement of Okpala. Has Sylvanus okpala not proven to be a good match reader? Must the ubiquitous match reader be white with some fat grobby contract from our dirty FA? Give keshi a contract, allow him to choose his backroom staff and then hold him responsible if he fails. That's the way it is done in saner climes. Here we have a glass house full to the brim with some rampaging idiots scheming endlessly to sign a dirty contract with any white fool.
@the bolded, chai, you don yap this people finish, but na true word you talk, even the nff now know that sacking okpala was a huge mistake, they are now begging him to withdraw his case at CAS and come and pick up his job back, nff are really what you have described them and they have the gut to say that keshi lack tactics.

Onozboy:
Minister pays Keshi 14 million Naira
AfricanFootball.com has scooped that
Nigerian sports minister has paid coach
Stephen Keshi for the past two months to
further undermine the authority of the NFF
over the coach.
It was understood that Keshi has been paid
14 million Naira (about $83,000) for
October and November by sports minister
Tammy Danagogo even though there is no
contractual agreement between the coach
and the NFF.
A top source informed AfricanFootball.com:
“The minister has been paying Keshi
directly from the NFF subvention without
any input from the NFF.
“This cannot be good for the relationship
between employer and employee.”
Keshi was in charge for the AFCON
qualifiers double header against Sudan in
October and then the qualifiers against
Congo and South Africa last month.
NFF president Amaju Pinnick has
maintained a contract has not been agreed
with Keshi contrary to media reports that
the coach will now be paid a monthly
salary of seven million Naira, a two million
Naira raise from what he received in his
initial contract, which ran out after the
World Cup in Brazil.
“We have not come to an agreement yet
(with Keshi),” he said.
The frosty relationship between the NFF and
Keshi has worsened after the federation
were ordered to re-instate the coach at the
end of October.
And this latest revelation can only tear
employer and employee further apart.
Nff have themselves to blame, if they have renewed keshi's contract after the world cup, they would have saved themselves from the embarrassment they are now facing.

When a coach surpass your target either by luck, juju or whatever, reason implies you renew his contract and increase his salary but in Nigeria its different, in saner climes keshi's contract would have been renewed after afcon 2013 but bad belle nff messed up as usual. Someone has asked on this forum and I agree with him why was westerhof's contract not renewed after USA 94? same bad belle as usual and we all blame our coaches when we fail in a match.

@the bolded. I am surprised someone can assert that we are criticising keshi because he is black. That is utter and complete bunkum! You really need to remove your racist mentality and view things objectively. People like you will leave the real issues and start playing the race card. Nowhere in my comment did I refer to keshi or del bosque's race.

Now to the issue. The level of Del bosque's achievement with Spain 'entitles' him to be given benefit of the doubt. Note the word entitles. This is a man who has won virtually everything a coach can win in international football. This is a man who has constantly and consistently delivered for years. Please tell me if keshi can compare. what achievements (note the s) does keshi have to entitle him being given a new contract and a pay rise?

In fact you av not addressed my points;
1. can u compare losing to Netherlands to losing to Sudan?
2. can u compare being beaten in the world cup to being beaten in an african nations cup qualifier?

If keshi has achieved half of del bosque's achievement with Nigeria as a coach, I will gladly campaign for him to continue. Keshi is tactically clueless and we need a better coach.
you can cast all manner of aspersions on me because of my opinion, take a look at yourself and the words you have posted here before you call me racist, you are saying that the spanish coach has won all laurels in international football and hence the excuses for his failure, but as far as you are concerned keshi is a failure abi?, a man that has qualified two nations for the world cup? you can ask FIFA to confirm that, that is a great achievement anytime any day. Even if the African game is not as advanced as the European game, why do we specialize in castigating our local coaches even when they achieve in certain areas, this is my point of disagreement with you, I hope you see my objectivity here, so who is the racist here if I may ask?

Let me also ask you another simple question, did keshi deserve a new contract and pay rise after winning the nations cup and qualifying for the world cup? or is contract renewal not based on performance again. Why did nff refused to improve his contract long ago, must we allow the pain of not qualifying for the next afcon to becloud our reasoning. Keshi's backroom staff was even sacked after afcon 2013, now who does that anywhere in the world?

Now to some of the points you raised, The Netherlands that defeated Spain has not been doing too well recently, they've also lost some matches to smaller teams too, so what's the big deal about that, if a team does not play well in a particular game, they can be beaten by any team. The major reason we failed in the nations cup qualifiers was because our players especially the big players like musa, uche, onazi and co refused to up their game when it matters most or will you blame keshi for one on one misses of musa and uche in the game against south africa, even Des Bosque can't do anything about. if your best players don't turn up when it matters most, ain't nothing you can do.

to buttress your point sir, Mikel obi once said (in 2010 or so) that the super eagles comprise of average team player and people shouldn't place too much hope on them.. there were serious bashes from various media houses on mikel just because he was saying the truth..
you can have a bad/average players, but you only need a tested and trusted world class coach to turn them to a top class professional "TEAM".
I remember when he said that and he was very right but because we've been deceiving ourselves over the years that we have world class players, the media castigated him.

Look here, you can have a world class coach but if the players are not good enough, the coach will still fail, Real madrid, bayern munich and other big sides are doing well not just because of the coaches they have, but because of the excellent players that play for these clubs. Bayern munich has been doing very well before Guardiola came along. Van Gaal had to get players like Di maria and others to turn man fortunes after a string of bad results that also happened under Moyes.

A coach with a bad/average players can't go far, its a fact, there must be at least three or more quality players to make the difference.

I don't agree with this your point at all. Del Bosque lost at the WORLD CUP to NETHERLANDS. One, the world cup as a tournament is simply light years away from African nations cup qualifiers.... how u wan compare them sefhuh

2. Spain lost woefully to Netherlands. Keshi lost to SUDAN!!!!. Do I have to repeat that again for you to know how absurd it sounds? This same Sudan lost all their remaining matches in the group without exception. Every other team defeated them both home and away.

3. At least one can say that Spain lost at the world cup which is played at a neutral venue. Keshi lost to Congo in Nigeria, and then he could not defeat south Africa again in Nigeria for us to qualify.

4.) There is a sensible explanation for Spain's loss which is that every Era comes to an end inevitably. Spain under Del bosque have dominated international soccer since around 2008. They have won the world cup and even defended the euros. This last world cup brought the era of those players to an end.
Now tell me what excuse does Keshi have? We were supposed to just start our own era of domination. Now we are back to square one.[/b

keshi does not deserve that contract. The most infuriating part of it is that he got a pay rise. A pay rise for such glaring display of ineptitude. smh
you see our problem, we easily make excuses for the failure of our so called favourite Nations, but castigate ours at every slight mistake. Spain failed at the world cup because they decided to stick to their aging players cos of past glory where they had emerging young stars from real and athletico madrid, what do you expect from players like torres, aging xavi and iniesta whose hunger for the game has nosedived. De Bosque goofed big time but you guys will not bash him because he's white skin. The Spanish FA knows this and that's why they've left him knowing its not his fault entirely.

Keshi came and brought up hungry players into our team and got immediate success, yet we castigated him and started campaigning for him to bring back old and tired legs all in the name of experience with likes of yobo, uche and martins, some were even calling for the likes of taiwo and yakubu sef. Keshi decided to compromise to keep his job by inviting some of these old hags and what do we have now, back to square zero and you think I will join you to bash keshi and make excuses for Des bosque.

My brother Let's be objective for once!

Shame on all of us as Nigerians, we only specialize in analyzing our players' and coaches' failure but when they excel, we say it is by luck.

Enyeama lost not because the algerian is better than him but because as Nigerians we fail to appreciate our own by failing to vote for enyeama massively, From the moment BBC came out to solicit for votes, [ I used two lines to vote for Enyeama] I heard guys on this forum say that they voted for Yaya and that Enyeama do not deserve the award, We tried to wake up from our slumber after the game against congo just because enyeama saved a penalty but alas it was too late.

This shows as Nigerians we are still immature [ plastic fans] and not ready to assume our so called status of Giant of Africa, perhaps we are big for nothing, no wonder we fail to qualify for afcon, if we think its keshi's fault or that of the players, let's think again perhaps we don't honour our own as expected, when we won the last afcon, even sports journalists and so called analysts said it was a fluke.

If we continue to have this mentality, even Benin Republic will soon start asking for visa before we enter their country. Its the way we lay our bed, that we'll lie on it. Think Nigerians

What's the point of giving him a one year contract when we're not going to play in the afcon next year?? its not like they'll organize any meaningful friendly matches for him to use and test players or anything.

If these morons are really doing this for the sake of "continuity", then why not give him a 2 or 3 year contract to give him time to build a team or whatever??

Personally i think this was not well thought out. Keshi has nothing else to offer.
cool down bro, does nff have that kind of money? so its all about the Federal Government doing what nff should have done long ago after world cup, am sure if we qualified for afcon, this wouldn't have been an issue

messi winnig the award in 2010 where you have an iniesta and xavi has made this award to loose some credibility and messi also winning the mvp at the last world cup has made matters worse, so FIFA has no choice than to give the award to ronaldo even though he had a bad world cup.

If the award should go any other person than Ronaldo, then FIFA itself should be banned, abi na only nff de get ban?

Aside serrero all other south-african players either play in d psl or are bench-warmers in some poor european clubs. You cant compare with nigeria.
On serrero and ajax u've shouting about........
The eredivisie is currently ranked as the 9th best league in europe having dipped in quality in recent years.
Ajax presently is no better than cska moscow, ahmed musa's club.
The russian league is currently ranked as the 5th best league in europe even ahead of the french ligue 1 and far ahead of 9th placed eredivisie.
And cska moscow with ahmed musa have won the league title consecutively in d the last 3 seasons.
And musa has been one of their best players, scoring for fun.
Because ajax are champions in an average league and go to d UCL to make up numbers doesn't mean they are a bigger club than mid-table epl clubs newcastle(sammy ameobi) or stoke city(Moses).
Rantie is south africa's top striker,a bench-warmer for AFC bournemouth in d championship.
Can u compare with Uche who is d top striker for villarreal a top 6 team in d la liga ??.Scored
14 goals last season,5 so far dis season.
Or Abiola dauda vitesse's top striker ?
The following players have been playing regularly to an extent this season and would have added something to our team if they were invited:-

L[b]eon Balogun-Darmsadt
Nedum Onuoha-QPR
Joel Obi-Inter Milan
Sammy Ameobi-Newcastle
Abiola dauda-vitesse
Chinedu Obasi-Schalke 04
Victor Moses-Stoke city
Ramon azeez-Almeria(if used in his right position)[/b]

Can u pls List only 4 south-african players(regular or bench-warmer) in any of the the top 4 leagues in europe(EPL,Bundesliga,La liga,Serie A) ?
You've only been shouting serrero,sererro !
you guys have come again calling all sort of names of players that are below average, that is how u guys advocated for uche until he came eventually and played poo for us against south africa, I thought players like azeez and moses played in the world cup where they made mockery of the game, balogun played in a friendly and just a push almost made the guy a cripple, you think leon balogun would have survived congo and sudan without breaking his leg again, Joel obi and obasi are too injury prone to play for the eagles and keshi has explained this so many times despite his admiration for the players, he said same thing for moses and he has been justified with moses being ruled out till next year, has sammy ameobi switched his allegiance to Nigeria formally? and who is responsible for that? is it the coach?

Please if you are being misinformed by sports journalists, please don't come here to misinform others, even if all these players were available, they are not as excellent as we think and not better than the players that failed to qualify for afcon.

I continue to reiterate my position that this generation of Nigerian players are the least talented we've ever had, anybody thinking we have players out there is either not sincere or ignorant and is misinforming Nigerians

I don't why people should break their head over this keshi's matter, the contract is just for one year, truth be told, keshi deserves a new contract especially after the world cup, I see it as a compensation for the hard work he's done in the past before our failure to qualify for the next afcon.

Let's remember he was out of contract during the qualifiers.

By the end of 2015, there could another decision to let him go. The eagles will not be in any competition in 2015 apart from friendlies so what's our problem?

You guys should let him be we don't have serious matches until 2016.

This is coming from Pastor Taribo West Who criticized Coach Keshi regularly for dropping Yobo. Pastor Taribo West should let people know that Coach Keshi was ordered by members of the NFF to reduce the number of home based players and this caused a drop in form and hunger of the team.
that is Nigerians for you o, when keshi was using the home based players and hungry players, a lot of people including taribo west criticized his selections. my guy, keshi could only call the nff's bluff before he was sacked initially, after his reinstatement, he had no choice than to cooperate with the powers that be by calling uche back and continue to play a fumbling emenike, it was beyond him, when has the nff ever taken responsibilty for the eagles failure? This is why its easy for keshi to blame the players and others for his failure. After afcon 2013, nff and keshi have not been working together, loosing out of afcon 2015 was the final result of that bitter relationship

I think the pressure from the NFF and Ex-Super Eagles players got to Coach Keshi. Many criticised Coach Keshi for being arrogant. It was his arrogance that kept the home based boys playing regularly in the squad.

I wish Coach Keshi was strong enough to resist the NFF pressure. Maybe that was why he was left without pay and later a contract for so long. That was the only way they could bend him.
keshi's reinstatement after being sacked also broke him finally cos there was no way uche would have made it back to the team. This was why siasia failed too, it was after he bowed to the pressure of recalling osaze to the team, that we also failed to qualify for afcon 2012, until nff, the sporst journalists, ex players and all fans begin to allow coaches do their jobs without interference, we will continue to have problems with our national teams for a long time to come. why appoint a coach if you can't trust him to make a good selection of players, it doesn't make sense to me.

our under age teams and female teams do very well becasue nff do not interfere in their coaches' jobs as much as the senior national team.

we complain about Government interference in our football but the greatest interference killing our football is the nff' intereference in our coaches' selection of players

Stop saying we have players. We do not. Aluko has only played 5 games at Hull City. That is how bad our talent pool is.

1. First, if you are a good coach and the fans want to force a player who you don't want on u, you stand your ground or resign. He stood his ground but his results got worse with time leading to the revolt by fans and his sack, and eventual reinstatement by GEJ. By this time the game was almost up.

2. Uche is a good player and has served this country well. There are many good players that are not being invited by Keshi for reasons best known to him: Martins, Uche Kalu,Haruna Lukman, Iheanacho etc. There are better defenders and choices in this country of 170 million people than Egwuekwe, aged Ambrose and an out-of-form Omeruo and an average Agbim. A coach who is quarelling with or not using his best players and not producing results at the same time is calling for a revolt by the fans and that's what happened.

3. We needed a miracle in Congo and to win our last match at home with SA. He brought in Uche, who played well and scored in the first game (a penalty) which we won 2-0, though we were poor generally. Uche was also his best striker and tormentor-in-chief against SA, as Musa had a bad a game and Emenike was unfit as usual (what coach allows unfit players to play at the expense of other good players he should have called up or those on the bench? It beats me). One goal and one assist in two games is not a bad statistic for a striker my bro.

Bottomline: the buck stops with Keshi and the Master that called him back. Leave Uche or the fans out of this!
with your very long post, still you were not able to defend uche properly, if uche was the best striker as you stated, he should have gotten a brace against S.A. or at least a goal, nearly cannot kill a bird, if you can make excuses for uche, I can also make excuses for keshi but we don't need those long stories now:

Bottom Line: They all failed Nigerians whether it is keshi, uche and all players and staff that were on duty period. No one should be excluded!

You, of all people, still have the gumption to write this. You spilt blood on NL defending a clueless, tactically and technically plus managerially handicapped coach like your life depended on it, even when the signs were staring you in the face.

Well, since it's the season of blame, I, Deemain, hereby blame you thegoodjoehunt3, Keshi and GEJ for this atrocious fall from grace. Without men like you all over this country, our football would have reached the stratosphere by now.

Abeg chop your own shame. You deserve it. And while you are at it, apologize to NL sports section for your sins, repent and amend your ways.

Nansense 2.0
The guy is only man enough to admit that keshi made errors in the match against S.A. why do you want to hang him over that? All the supporters of uche should also come out to admit that uche did not merit his comeback to the eagles after all, they told us that he was the messiah, Let them come out and explain why he failed to deliver when it matters most.

As Albert Einstein said many years ago, "We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them."
You are very right, nff has goofed again but we will all come and blame the coach again when things don't go well
Sports › Re: Keshi & Crew, Players, Or NFF: Who Is To Blame For Poor Eagles Performance? by Goke7: 9:58am On Nov 21, 2014
since the nff has come out to take responsibility, who are we looking for to blame again. I will put my blames in this order:

1. The Nff, they created too much confusion especially in connivance with our ignorant sports media that keshi was keeping our so called players out, thank God the magical uche played at last and we truly saw his magic, anybody making excuses for uche is ignorant.

2. The players: they were simply not good enough, now we know that all the excuses about artificial pitch na lie, God don catch them with wetin de play for uyo. Let's get it straight players like ambrose, echejeile, onazi, emenike [noise maker], uche [overrated], Egweke, omeruo [for now until he improves] should be shown the way out. If the next coach continue with these guys, nothing will change.

3. Keshi: am one of his fans, but he failed when it matters the most, he should not have started with some of the players listed above especially ambrose and emenike, they've been of our weakest links so far. It was criminal for aluko not starting especially with his performance in the previous games, with hope akpan injury, I was shocked not to see aluko. The way aluko played, if we had gone to afcon, he would have been another victor moses like in afcon 2013

I have been saying on this forum that this is the least talented super eagles we've ever had, let's face reality, these guys have given all that they can give, they simply can't do better than what we've seen so far.

that is why he is misbehaving, I'm sure if he is dropped for once he will fasten his sit belt
if emenike is dropped that is the beginning of another media war between keshi and emenike, remember we just concluded that of keshi and uche, can we afford that now? certainly not, it will be another chance for keshi's haters to score some cheap points.

Congo need 5goals to move to second place!!!!! i know with out doubt SE won't want that to happen so they don't need to concede any goal rather add at least two more goal!!! Predict 3-0 in favor of SE against The Boys The Boys ((Bafana Bafana)
we are ahead of congo on head to head rule, if they like let them score 20 goals in sudan, once we win by half goal sef, we are thru, congo can go as one of the best lossers though if they win in sudan

But is it not glaring that Emenike is unruly??

For a striker to celebrate a year without scoring ( for both club and country ) pls why is he still playing.
if emenike is dropped, will you guys not chop keshi's head off? keshi himself is in a dilemma concerning emenike, may be inviting martins back to the national team like he has done with uche may make emenike become either become a bench warmer or sit back in turkey, emenike should sit up or he will go the way of Ideye. If the aaron guy should score again in the next match, i pity emenike o
