I rented an apartment late last year and discovered my power wasn't disconnected despite having not made any recharge on the prepaid after 2 weeks.
I called my landlord brother who let the place out to me, to inform him about my findings, but he insisted that I was enjoying the recharge from the previous tenant.
I tried checking the balance through the small box used for recharging but it wasn't connecting and I believed it was a network issue
After about a month, my curiosity heightened and for the fact that I hate to be involved in anything illegal, I decided to make further inquiries concerning the metre.
My neighbor and chief tenant who has been in the house for about 4 years told me that there's debt on the metre which made the previous occupant connect directly while by passing the prepaid metre..
I called a friend who once worked with Nepa and he made findings saying the debt on the metre is 118,000 naira. I got the number of the landlord and decided to put a call to him last December.
He claimed that the house has been on prepaid metre since the erection of the building. And said I should ask Nepa how the debt was accrued.. I agreed with him so I decided to make more findings concerning how debt got on the metre.
During this period, a nepa official came for inspection, he dropped his phone number as I was not at home. I called him and explained everything to him..
He gave me the summary of the transaction which showed that the house owed a debt while on post paid, which was transfered on the prepaid meter when it was installed. The nepa official indirectly asked me to bribe him so he would leave the metre not disconnected which I didn't oblige to.
He came last week to disconnect the metre and I have called the landlord who refused to find a solution to the problem.
My landlord claims he hasn't lived in the compound for a day and wouldn't be responsible for it. I suggested that I clear the bill and deduct it from my next rent. He refused.
I have been in darkness for over a week now and running on generator without any solution in sight.
What's the best measure I can take towards resolving this issue?
1.Get official document like light Bill's with dates to substantiate the official proofs by going to their office. 2. Send a copy to your Landlord through your lawyer. 3. Get the official to connect the light back for you in a way that you can use what you pay. 4. Ensure you document you monthly subscription details with receipts. 5. Start looking for another apartment towards the end of your rents and ensure you verify light Bill's. 6. Prince Ned Munir Nwoko, the Chairman and Founder of Prince Ned Nwoko Foundation, the initiators of Africa's biggest malaria eradication project. The Nollywood celebrities and Directors visited the philanthropist, Billionaire Businessman and Humanitarian in Abuja yesterday to seek his support for the industry as the association celebrates its 20years of active operations.
Amongst the Actors and Actresses who visited Hon. Prince Ned Nwoko was Desmond Elliot, Fred Amata, Segun Arinze, Bimbo Akintola AMD other notable Nollywood personalities. During the meeting with the charimastic and iconic leader, the Nollywood celebrities reiterated their commitments and interest to remain advocates and ambassadors of the Malaria Eradication Project in Africa which his Foundation flagged off recently and also intimated Hon. Ned on their interest to make him one the Patrons of DGN.
They also notified him of their appreciation to his efforts in ensuring the steady growth and development of the movie industry in Nigeria, stressing that the association will be presenting him an award of impact for his contributions to Nollywood and the entertainment industry in general.
While speaking with members of Directors Guild of Nigeria, Hon. Ned spotlighted some of his experiences during the Antarctica Expedition, which was to create awareness on the malaria eradication project in Africa, as well as meet with scientists from across the world to negotiate prospective strategies in ameliorating the devastating situation of malaria attacks and illness in Africa. ayoadeifee: I Am writing this with my heart bleeding with too much pains, I need help!!!!! My mom has been working with the government as a teacher for the past thirty two years, she's upright and diligent and a very hardworking woman, she's the best teacher I grew up to know.
She was promoted to head teacher November last year after all she's due for it. In another school, the same local government, there are rifts and fights within that school which is school 1,2,3 which does not have anything to do with my mom, suddenly they called my mom from SUBEB, they want to transfer her to that school where they have been having loggerhead. But it's not that she doesn't want to go but my mom has health challenges. She's high blood pressure patient and the place of primary assignment is very far from our residence so she refused to collect the letter of transfer and she presented her doctor's report at SUBEB.
I forget to add that the other person they transferred to my mom school from the school they are having rifts was well known at SUBEB and was a very powerful person so she initially pointed where my mom was heading that she want that place or they transfer her back to her sch back, but my mom refused it, and since she has the back up of SUBEB, the chairman and almost everyone at that SUBEB came this morning and chased my mom out of her office saying she was suspended. They do not only cheated her but they also humiliated and violated her human right and harassed her publicly just because we don't know anybody from the government.
Meanwhile it's just within the local government, it has not reach the state level, At this present moment we don't know what to do. She has been so devastated and sad since morning. We have been praying but we still don't know what to do.
I will suggest to advise your mum to accept the posting and leave the rest for God, I have observed that when you embarrass people like this God shows up. You are aware of how Joseph was pushed to his blessing. So tell your mum not to fight them but put her trust in God and be prayerful.
