jazzyjazz:The left breast is always bigger than d right breast. Please don't be tempted to feed him more from d bigger breast because this will only make the breast bigger. Feed him more frequently from the smaller breast like twice from d right then once from d right or alternatively allow him to empty d right breast first before offering d left one. The one you offer most tends to get more engorged or seems to produce more milk. Offering d right breast more often may help to get it bigger as d brain is triggered to produce more from that breast. You can also try expressing with breast pump after feeding him on d right breast. Some babies may start rejecting d breast that produces lesser milk after a while |

Good job. I'm impressed. |
Congratulations to Jazzyjazz and Dunni29. |
Rossy99:Her iron level may need to be checked. Hope you give her iron fortified cereals and formula. Ejoo, Biko, try and prevent this from reoccurring. |
eolowu1:I hope the baby doesn't have jaundice and she was managing at home. Let her take d baby to d hospital ASAP. |
francisbarrack:The people quoting all these ridiculous prices are mischievous. Beware of them. |

spiceeamiee:It depends on the type of scan they want to do. If it's TVC scan, you'll need to empty your bladder. If it's pelvic scan, your bladder has to be full. I think Tvc scan will be recommended for you @ 7 wks. |
Vaxt:Thank you. I hope you are feeling better. |
I still love Prophet T B Joshua. God bless you sir. |

How old is this baby? Something doesn't add up here. |
Lilimax:Yes, the foundation is polluted. |
This man is saying the truth but I know some people will not believe this. This is true. Also rock villa is evil. We have a lot of evil men that will go to any length to remain relevant. When you understand some things that go on in this country, you complain less and pray more. May God help us |
VEE992:I don laff tire. This is the funniest BS I've read in a while. Congrats. |
bussy2rhymes:This could be a sign that baby will soon be with you. Hope you've packed your bag . |
cutiereborn:Please if your baby sweats a lot, change the clothes often. Wet/sweat soaked clothes gives them cold. Change the cloth once she sweats |
Adeime:Please check my notes under each question. Please always allow your baby to empty one breast before switching to the other one. Since you'll be returning to work soon I'll suggest you pump after breastfeeding d baby. This will also help your supply. Always empty your breast that is the surest way to know you are getting the hind milk. Please, don't use hot water to warm your breast milk as it destroys the nutrients in it. Use warm water and shake at interval. While expressing you can use warm towel to massage your breast, this helps too. Take lots of water and please, hygiene is of upmost importance. |
phunmykay:Please don't put BM in hot water. Use room temp water and then use warm water to warm it before giving it to ur baby. |
Keneking:Thank you for this comment. Most of the roads they commission gets spoilt after 3 months. They keep building low quality roads in order to be awarding contracts every year. Mtchewwwwww. |
chizeal:Malaria is not good for a pregnant woman. It can make one anaemic and weakens your body. Taking the drugs when you don't take enough water is also dangerous. I took malaria treatment immediately I found out I was pregnant, was on this Sunday medicine throughout my pregnancy and slept inside an insecticide treated net but my baby still had jaundice. I'm just trying to say that it has not been established that it causes jaundice. You may need to read what lifted hands wrote. Using these local herbs is like a gamble. You can't decode the level of jaundice by merely looking at the baby. What if the cause of the jaundice is not physiological? A lot of treatment for treatment of jaundice in Nigeria is just trial and error. If you take a trip to Island maternity, you will weep for these children. It's inside Lagos island and a lot of the mothers there depend only on Agbo so by the time they bring in those babies for medical attention after days of pumping them with unripe pawpaw water and bathing them with Agbo, some of them will die and some will be disabled for life. It's just that in Nigeria, parents with special needs children mostly lock them up in the rooms away from the public. Some of the children you see that develop hearing loss or sight issues at a tender age are as a result of poor handling of jaundice. I hope to share my story before weekend so that people can learn from it. |
lolaymary:The question is, does unripe pawpaw water mature the liver? |
Liftedhands:Thank God she's much better now. I've heard some horrible stories about all these local treatment. It has killed a lot of babies and some ends up with severe kerinicterus. I ripe pawpaw, scent leaves and all those Agbo are trial and error methods. It's just like gambling with the life of your baby. |

I'll try to explain what Jaundice is all about and what leads to it. The human body constantly produces blood(red, white and platelets), the old blood cells is broken into different particles and excreted by the body. The human liver breaks the red blood cells into bilirubin which is excreted by the body. The bilirubin is yellowish in color. The baby removes the bilirubin while in the womb via the placenta i.e. The mothers liver does the breaking down of the bilirubin and excretes it for the baby. Once a baby is born it's liver is supposed to take up the job but sometimes the liver may not be matured enough or slow to carry out the job which will now cause a build up of bilirubin in the blood stream. If there's too much bilirubin in the blood stream, the body may circulate it to the brain and this will cause a yellowish stain in the brain. It mostly attacks the left cerebrum. The build up of the bilirubin is called jaundice and yes it can happen to adults too. The phototherapy the baby undergoes is to help the liver break down the bilirubin so the body can excrete it. Look at these facts: 1. No two babies develop the same. Every baby is born with a level of bilirubin in its bloodstream. 2. It's an irony that babies react differently to jaundice. A 10mg level can be fatal in one baby while another baby will walk over it. 3. Malaria doesn't cause jaundice. 4. You can't deduce the level of jaundice by mere looking at the baby. It's safer for your baby to get tested and receive treatment immediately. 5. Antibiotics cannot be used to cure jaundice. We may not be able to prevent jaundice but we can reduce or minimize its effect on babies by taking our prenatal pills religiously and drinking plenty water while pregnant. Build up of drugs inhibit the functioning of the liver including ordinary paracetamol. Taking enough water especially while on drugs helps to remove the toxins from the drugs and helps the liver to function better. Eat well, drink plenty water and pray. Ok. I don tire. I may modify this to add more things later. |
Ada243:Thank God. Take good care of her. |
Liftedhands:It's ok. My major concern is the weight of the baby. I'm not a medical doctor and I may sound paranoid because of my experience with it but I feel that waiting for 12 hours is not very ideal. One hour is enough for jaundice to cause brain damage. Unless the doctor has a medical reason for holding on with transfusion, I think he should have started d process by now. I pray for her speedy recovery. |
Ada243:If the eye is yellowish, take her to the hospital and see a paediatrician. It may be nothing but it's better she gets tested at the hospital. That's the only way to know the cause of the yellowish color. I'll only be worried if she gives a weak cry or irks and wriggle like she's in pain while lying on her back. |
Liftedhands:I don't know when I clicked submit. She need to stop breastfeeding for now. I heard it increases it in some babies. The hospital I used is also tussed and I live in ikoyi too. Most of these doctors feel jaundice is nothing and can easily be managed forgetting that there will always be 1%. Why will they allow someone's baby to be the in d 1% that may develop issues. After my son's case, my hospital now do transfusion for babies that their level is upto 10 to avoid such stories. If you are not comfortable with their attitude, please change the hospital today. Island maternity is not too far from there. They give jaundice d serious treatment it requires. A lot of these mistakes can be avoided. One of you can go to island maternity first to be sure that there's space for the baby there and then get a referral immediately. Please, I'm not saying that the case may be fatal. I'm only writing out of passion to see that the child gets better. I do not wish my enemy what I went through with my baby. If anything goes wrong, that hospital will claim it is inevitable and say sorry. After all the baby was under light even if it didn't help. I mentioned island maternity because our audiologist works there and I know they have some specialist from USA that comes there to review their equipments and also keep record of there treatments. They also do hearing assessment for the babies after their treatment. Jaundice is evil please act fast. I'm seriously praying for the little one that God will show himself strong in her life and It won't go higher than this. No matter the level it gets to, he will protect her under his banner and no harm will befall her. She will grow stronger and fulfill her destiny in Jesus name, Amen. |
