What I want him to know is that the Abo-kis brought Islam to their land, not Arabs.
As for them having a central leader, yes they did have but greed was and still remaines their Waterloo.
While the Oba words were law and respected in his kingdom, that can't be said of the the land West of the empire who from time immemorial have always been daggers drawn against themselves
They were only good at fighting coward wars within themselves and plucking each others butt hair to provoke each other for a war

I do not blame them

Their ancestors left them with pitable history
And their own generation aim to steal benin great history

Olu317 I will like you to read this
https://www.nairaland.com/6530191/battle-otefan-1830-battle-where.

Then let discuss your theory of how Islam got to Yoruba land
Take special notes of the NAMES and warriors
Yorubas were not organized before the country Nigeria was formed

They lived in clans and came together to fight each other if provoked by a particular clan

There was no strong ruler who governed them
Their political system was decentralized

So when an external culture comes they decide personally to adopt or reject, most clans yoruba found the Islamic religion attractive and accepted it, unlike the benin who had strong political bureaucracy which was politically centralized

Their Islamic influence came from the north, they were some fragmented Yoruba muslims before the war of afonja, the war of afonja further expanded it,

If not for the britsh arrival most yorubas would
Have been practicing islam

You mean people took me serious before now? Wow!

[s]Thanks for this confession. But why didn’t you make this confession in the past when those people took me serious? cheesy

Having said that:

I was about to say “who made you (dullard) a judge?”

On on a second thought I realized that you COULD actually be the judge in this case — but in a reverse sense.

In other words, if you judge an individual to be wrong (and that same individual has been your worst nightmare who reduced you to the status of a rag on Nairaland), then such individual should smile home and be rest assured that they were right.

I won’t say a word. cheesy grin

Now debunking your above heap of crap, particularly the bolded:

(1) The Yoruba word “ala,” when translated into English, does NOT mean “white”. Instead it means “white cloth”.

~ See attached p. 31 of CMS’s Dictionary of Yoruba Language, 1913.

(2i) The English word “white,” when translated into Yoruba does NOT mean “supreme”. Instead, “white” translates to “funfun.

~ See attached p. 172 of CMS’s Dictionary of Yoruba Language, 1913.

(2ii) “Supreme” on the other hand, translates to “bori gbogbo,” or “ga ju lo,” or “lola ju lo,” NOT “funfun”.

~ See attached p. 145 of CMS’s “Dictionary of Yoruba Language,” 1913.

(3) The word “ala” (from Arabic language) translates to “except” in English language.

(4) The Arabic name “Allah” does not exist or occur in Yoruba language.

Why are you always wrong? Because you have always chosen to be on the side of falsehood.

NB: Do not feel dignified that a whole Tao replied to your rubbish of a comment.[/s]

TAO11:
What gibberish is this for God’s sake? undecided Sighs! lipsrsealed

[No disrespect to your person, but it’s hard not be angry when gross/undiluted ignorance is being boldly peddled].

Loud sighs!
The Yoruba word “ala” in the name Obatala has absolutely nothing to the with the Arabic word “Allah”.

Apparent sound & roman-orthographic appearance is not the basis of connections between words. To make matters worse, they don’t even sound alike, nor are their respective meanings identical or similar.

The Yoruba word “ala” literally means “white cloth,” in contrast the Arabic name “Allah” literally means “the self-existent, perfect being”.

[s]Linguistics is not so dumb that linguists simply look for similarity of sound & appearance in order to draw linguistic or/and historical connections[/s]

[s]This is your wrongest attempt at peddling misinformation because the native accounts unanimously remember Obatala as an individual who is given to drinking. He loves to drink and get drunk.[/s]

First of all, the Arabic word you mentioned here begins indeed with a Q” equivalent, and not a “K” equivalent. The letter “K” has only come down to us from classical English transliteration of this Arabic word.

To maintain a “K” equivalent (i.e. Kaf) in the Arabic is to have a meaningless supposed Arabic word, viz. “Kur’an”

Despite that, the Arabic word “Qur’an” itself does not have the meaning you’ve made up for it here. Qur’an does NOT mean “proclamation”.

Moreover, regarding the Yoruba word “Kere” which you tried to squeeze in (a falsehood on its own); the tone you applied to it is also another falsehood.

The tonal diacritic for “Kere” is “mi, re,” NOT “do, do” which you ignorantly placed on it — in other words, “Kére,” NOT “Kèrè”.

In any case, the Yoruba word “Kere” has absolutely not a thing to do with the Arabic word “Qur’an”. And “Qur’an” does not mean “proclamation”.

Now to the actual question which I asked you:

How does the stoning of the “devil” have anything to do with entering the Ka’aba with the back?? Are you kidding, or you’re just being plain ignorant??

Anyways, the Ka’aba is a building located in the city called Mecca.

The practice of stoning the “devil” during hajj is done in another city called Mina.

In sum, no stone is thrown at any devil in Mecca, nor is any left hand raised or positioned. It is okay to say you don’t know when asked a question about which you have no idea.

Regarding, entering the Ka’aba with the back which is the point I queried you on: Rarely does anyone enter the Ka’aba, and no one does so with the back. Stop making stuffs up.

Of course you can’t. Doing so would be disastrous.

May God change you for good.
Olu317

Tao11 no one takes you serious anymore

The yoruba world ala is a sub word for allah in yoruba language

The word ala in yoruba means white and in arabic it means self existence, Supreme in yoruba white means Supreme they believe heavenly beigns wear white so when they mention white they attribute those qualities to it, olu was right on this one
