thelastPope: Every state has a good budget. There is no state without a good budget. The problem of Nigeria has never been about good budgets. It is about implementation. You keep making these mistakes. Lagos state budget is not better itemized than Borno state budget. It is how each state implements their budget that is important.Sorry, i do not agree with the position that "Every state has a good budget" Please read here http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/states-budgets-wrong-priorities-pathetic-outcomes-1-/120917/ and http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/state-budgets-wrong-priorities-pathetic-outcomes-2-/121428/ A lot of states in Nigeria write budgets to fulfil all righteousness. Most of the budgets were never planned to be followed. Please read Bauchi state budget for 2012 http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/bauchi-s-hopeless-budget/113600/ This state budgeted 19.4 billion for just 19,000 stundents, thats =N=1m per student WOW!!!!! |
thelastPope: you are repeating the same dud links! This is what you get from most of the links there:Check your PC or internet connection. I just downloded the PDF file. Unfortunately, its too big to upload on nairaland. http://www.lagosstate.gov.ng/subpage.php?k=35 If after reading the document and u dont give kudos to LASG, then you are bn downright mischievous |
thelastPope: Most of the links on that page are dead links. The PDF files have been removed. You are exposing your governor more. They are too scared, obviously, to put the details of their expenditure out in public view.http://www.lagosstate.gov.ng/subpage.php?k=35 |
thelastPope: To say there is no budget for food and entertainment when there is food and entertainment expenses is actually an indictment on LASG. You cannot spend what is not budgeted for. Governance is a constitutional thing, not a personal things. The launch of the blue rail project last week saw a lot of people scrambling for food and refreshment. Someone even tried to suggest that it was the contractor that provided the refreshment!@lastpope, am suprised this is coming from you. "you appear to be an intelligent lad" but i suppose your judgement is bn beclouded. What ever anyone wants to say about Lagos state and prudence, you have to give honour to these guys at LASG. Its a state bn run professionally. You cant even find Lagos state making caps; tshrts; aso ebi and such like wen having Launching programmes. Anyway, @lastpope, eductae yourself here: http://www.lagosstate.gov.ng/subpage.php?k=35 |
Sincere 9gerian: Among other things, the states also holds weekly state executive council meetings, host all sorts of guest on weekdays, etcAnd after bn de-lumped, you will then ask for the cost of ingredients to be de-lumped as well. Please educate yourself here http://www.lagosstate.gov.ng/subpage.php?k=1 |
thelastPope: I will address the above. I am not interested in your feelings of distrust as that will lead us no where. Our collective lack of interest is what is leading us nowhere in Nigeria and if not checked, it will grind the nation to a halt & in turn affect you & I except u already hv passports of other countries. A typical example was wen GEJ eliminated petrol scarcity 18-24months ago only for us to find out that we were bleeding to sustain it. The same applies to the so called Airport transformation projects tht humongous billions of naira hv bn earmarked & spent. We shld be interested in how much and how fair these projects are becos at the end of d day, we wld hv burnt a big hole in the national purse. The reason i responded on Dangote is becos of this your comment in bracket (I have always been impressed by how this man, Dangote, has continued to invest in Nigeria despite all the talk of poor infrastructure and insecurity. He is probably the only truly patriotic Nigeria businessman out there today. If only we had like 10 Dangotes, Nigeria would have been transformed by now. ............... Imagine Danjuma made 500 million dollars from sale of his allocated oil block and shamelessly and disdanfully told Nigerians he didnt know what to do with the money! How about given out loans to small scale industries? The foool didnt even pay for the oil block) Dangote is no different. As Danjuma did not pay for the oil block allocated to him, so also Dangote for the economy hurting concessions that he has received over the years and you say u r impressed by him. Business and competition is not war that you bring a whole country to its knees. As we speak today, Dangote can cripple the Nigerian Stock Exchange & he is also NSE president. We need to put in place institutions that wont mortgage a nation to an individual or a group of individuals. Try it in civilised parts of the world and you end up in jail. |
thelastPope: Farmers were given loans by the CBN and they have planted crops massively. They were even given fertilizers and other materials. They have already done one harvest and even lost produce due to lack of storage and evacuation facilities. Now, Dangote in support of the project, has come to their rescue and is building a processing plant right in their midst to shore up their harvest and harness it into tomato paste and more and you are talking of materialization? I dont understand your tears honestly. Express don leave you go oh! Wake up dude! You could take advantage of it some how if you only stop and think instead of just criticizing on NL or you can go back to the Tonto Dike thread you came from, lol!@Lastpope, i salute you o but unfortunately i find it hard to salute anything Dangote...if we started a topic on the business style of Dangote, we wld not leave here today, so let discuss Nigeria. Is it not Dangote who entered into agreement wt FG thru BoI to create jobs and enterprenuership to cassava processors, aluminium artisans, poultry farmers, calabash carving groups, small traders, cattle rearing groups, vegetable sellers, market women, artisan groups etc, for which the money he is getting in loan is at 0% interest. Do all the ones listed above not exist, do we need a Dangote to create more? NO!!! what is the job of NDE, then? but he gets concessions that end up hurting the economy for many many of such schemes. When SLS published Dangote as one of those owing money, what did Dangote do? He visited Aso Rock, and received import concessions from GEJ.....i.e loans paid off. Pls, lets leave Dangote out of this. What we need is an enabling environment and life long institutions that allow anybody to setup industries anywhere in Nigeria. There is no hurray abt Dangote setting up a Tomato processing factory in Kano, but rather tears because Dangote does not set up anything without the govt; you & I paying for it. He does his own damage to the economy as much as importers do. Unholy concessions are given to him which makes competition in his favour. Are there institutions to ensure the farmers get value for their produce? Have the farmers; poultry & animal husbandary owners who lost hundreds of millions of naira to violence in the north compensated in anyway? You talk about building 8 cargo airports and cooling facilities by govt. A those projects are touted all to siphon money. Where is Gbenga Daniels' cargo airport after 8 years Their cars were all over Lagos at one time. All these projects are conduit pipes of corruption. The existing airports have plenty of space, build warehouses close to them or give serious pple land to build warehouses and cold rooms there. Lets stop putting carts before the house. Let me give u a solid example of pple wt vision & who put the horse b4 d cart as shld be. There is an existing railway line in lagos. Awolowo, built an industrial estate around the railway line called Ikeja Ind estate and built 24 drying and bagging Dome warehouses beside the railway line so that Cocoa beans cld be taken by train directly to Apapa port rather than by road. When cocoa biz died 4 obvious reasons, Guinness Nig Plc used the Domes as storage but are no longer using all of them, so they are now bn used in mushroom fashion. These warehouses are on Oba Akran/Ladipo Oluwole in Ikeja. The Minister of Agric has done well, but you will begin to see how he will be rubbished soon as d politicians have started seeing his ministry as a place they can come up wt spurios projects in the name of transformation. (10 million phones in the hands of rural farmers is 10 million votes for PDP as you must vote for me in appreciation of the phobne i gave you. Text message bombardment) Nigeria needs surgery. |
Maxymilliano: NLC/TUC did not betrayed #occupynigeria# in whatever way, Omar, Esele and other members of the NEC only did what was needful then and it was to call off the strike. There are a number of interplay we do not understand when such things like Occupy Nigeria & NLC Strike occur. (1) Occupy Nigeria, even though, the effect & outcome of it was not pre planned & expected, it served a number of purposes which unfortunately are not bn cashed in on. (a)It showed that Nigerians can take their destinies into their own hands if we so wish to do (b) It was not hijacked by opposition politicians because there was nothing new they said that we did not know already. (c)Occupy Nigeria ruffled the feathers of those in power and you cld tell by varying reactions e.g, Akpabio can out stammering on TV & accusing opposition politicians of buying food & pure water for the crowd. At d Ikoyi rally, people were volntarilly bringing food & drinks to share & to debunk the opposition leaders involvement, even Tinubu cld not dare show his face there as even his house in Ikoyi was picketed. Another e.g was Gov Fashola, had to tread cautiously in keeping law & order in his domain even though he supported d removal at Gov's forum becos they had all bn promised the subsidy money investment since before the increase. So, really, no govt in power was sure where the whole thing was headed. (d) It showed that we are not schooled in the strategy of organising and sustaining serious rallies. The organisers, in fear of loose of lives, announced that saturday and sunday will be days of rest wen they saw soldiers on the road & at ojota, that was wen they shld have intensified it as the world broadcasting stations were already beaming it live worldwide and Social media was also spreading it like wild fire, so that any atrocity commited wld have bn seen worldwide and GEJ wld hv bn cautioned by d superpowers but the conveners did not want to suffer any physical brutalisation & didnt want the blood of innocent protestors shed. (2) NLC was just playing to the gallery & needed to come out to remain relevant as the voice of the people. The trust in them has so depleted that they cannot hold any successful strike again in the nearest future. (3) Govt feels stronger from the outcome of the events leading to the calling off of the strike & feel they hv us pocketed (4) The next Occupy Nigeria is not likely to be well organized as the likelihood of an eruption of emotions and spontaneous spilling out onto the streets might occur as people are thoroughly frustrated. God help Nigeria |
ijebabe: *From BNWhats the big deal?? Sura the Tailor at underbridge can do just as well ![]() |
kangasomti: Some fools in this house are regularly depicting ignorant and imcompetent backside. I'm not supprised you could not read his interview.Unfortunately, no tears for them in the so called Nollywood. It was never a sustainable enterprise as they never had proper structures in place. It was just an enterprise that provided quick and easy money to a very small group of producers and actors/actresses but as they lined their pockets, they didnt think it was neccessary to put a proper organisation in place, so mediocrity was the order of the day and no enterprise survives long term on mediocrity. Nollywood was hyped up; They were ranking themselves wt Hollywood and Bollywood...Jokers!; Actors/Actresses were living expensively; Soft Cell magazines were magnifying them and their heads went on a spin unaware that a simply organised venture will bring them down like a pack of cards. (Reminds me of the 3 little pigs and the wolf) Right now, its even more difficult for them to bounce back because the never had structures in place. If you doubt it, go look for a music track that came out abt 3 years ago titled "Waka Pass". It summarises legacy Nollywood. Sorry, RIP |
thelastPope: This is the reason why people will continue to call all you ACN sychophants out. The level of propaganda you do is just shameful. While the rail project is a good project, the fact that you bring out one new thread every time half a meter of track is laid is just hillarious. The Abuja city light rail project has passed 50% completion with no noise or fanfare. If the abuja guys were doing the same propaganda as you ACN guys, NL will be filled with such stories by now. Orile-mile 2 is just 4 minutes drive by road. How is that a great achievement by train? Let the project continue and when it is done and Lagosians can enjoy it, then you can come here and spam us with your posts. For now, keep the spam down and stop announcing to us every track that is being laid. Remember this is the standard you all always demand from the FG. If the FG where announcing every single step they take on NL, the NL servers would have crashed several times over. I will personally laud him if he can conclude a significant part of the rail line. For now, its all politics and noise making.Even though its 4km, you cant imagine the number of vehicles it will take off the road during rush hour. The scenario will be people walking over from Marina to National Theatre to board the train to Mile 2 and then continue their journey from there until the Marina to Nat Theatre and Mile2 to Okoko lines are freed up |
Sincere 9gerian: Very good development. The answer is here: http://www.lagosstate.gov.ng/subpage.php?k=35 |
Am seriously hoping that this meeting did not take place anywhere within ASO Rock as that will amount to abuse of power; unauthourised use of public property and gross arrogance. We only just saw how abuse of public property led to a Navy Helicopter crashing. If there were any Senators in that BoT meeting, then, they are insincere hypocrites as they only just legislated against abuse of govt property. I wld have thot PDP wld have their party HQ where such a meeting can hold? |
A secret visit to Ota to prostrate and beg Obj in the middle of d nite will end all the brohahu!! Even bigger men have gone to "prostrate" IBB don go; Atiku don go Ogun state, GEJ sef go go |
taharqa: @banki, i HATE Propaganda with every fibre of my being and can only say dat you are a FOOOL for quoting my comment and spitting d thrash u just did cos of yr HATRED for a man. 'All credit for the ongoing railway work goes to OBJ' according to a TV show? OBJ? Are you aware that virtuali no train movd during d 8yrs that OBJ ruld this nation? Are u aware that he did rehabilitate any of d already dilapilitatd tracks anywhere in d country? The rehabilitatn of d main Lagos-Kano startd in 2009 by Yar'adua and had barely gotten up to 15% b4 he died d nx yr leaving most of d work and d rehabilitatn of d entire rail spurs off dis main line to GEJ to complete- the main line has just bn finishd last month, just as its entire spur raillines that branches off it have/is been rehabilitatd by GEJ. The rehabilitatn of d even longer PH-Maiduguri rail line and its many spur lines startd in 2011 by GEJ and massive work is bn done as i speak as people along dat route wud tell you- trains wud surely move on dat line b4 d end of d yr. The Standard guage Ajaokuta-Aladja-Warri rail line dat startd since 1991 and abandond many times has virtuali bn completd today by GEJ who laid a new track from Agbor to warri and rehabilitatd sm parts of d track from Agbor tru Ore to Ajaokuta- a test train carrying d Min of Transport ran tru dis new path last yr and but for the navigational and buildings structure left shld hv bn completd by now. The actual constructn work of d Standard guage Abuja-Kaduna rail line that began in Feb 2011 by GEJ (though d contract was signd by Yar'adua in 2009) has not stop 1 day since then as you can testify since you say you live in Abuja, and is already more than 50% completd. The Abuja rail way project which yes began unda OBJ but was later abandond cos of funding concerns has bn restartd by GEJ afta resolving d funding issue for d entire project, and work is going apace by d Chinese contractor as you can also testify as an Abuja resident dat u say u are. The Double track Lagos-Ibadan Standard guage was startd last yr by GEJ; just as Feasibility studies for 7 new proposd routes to obtain d necessary data without which private investors wud not enter d railway sector was also given by GEJ. MOST of d wagons and locomotives bn usd today by NRC was eida FINALLY bought by GEJ or contractd by him. Yet u cud open yr mouth and say dat 'GEJ is not doing anything..he just cant think in dat line'? Hv you no DECENCY, not even a little, left? You wud allow HATRED mk u descend to dis level....*Just Disgusting*My only fear is how much is GEJ throwing at all these projects just to prove he is performing. We are all witnesses to the excessive, unimaginable amount of money they used in eradicating fuels queues a couple of years ago. Its mind boggling to hear amounts of money spent on railways and still be celebrating 20th century locomotive We also hear the crazy amounts of money they are spending on electricity yet they are celebrating 4350mw whilst at the same time, we hear other nations spend about the same amount to achieve 22nd century infrastructure. Too much money thrown around wt no proportional benefit Am sorry, i know that its not GEJ that caused Nigeria's present problems but he is neither showing futuristic thinking nor displaying present day drive that can move a nation like ours forward |
Lets be honest with ourselves, the tragedies of today were laid 30 years ago. Its simply Cause & Effect. The seeds that were sown many years ago by Jakande are the harvest of collapse we are experiencing today....Simple. He might have done some good things back then, but he equally did wrong things like we others as well |
geeez: I travel three times a day on these trains. I have friends that travel up to five times. How is 3m not feasible? We lead in the SE, others follow. Onitsha rail is also completed and its the fastest in Africa at 200miles an hour. It runs on a 50km suspension bridge and three underground lines totaling 88km. Where else in Nigeria does that happen? Yoruba people answer meI beg, make i no choke wt laffta!!! 200miles/hr?? Una dey fly? up to five times a day? Una be train conductor? 50km suspension bridge? More like suspended dream! three underground lines totaling 88km? Na u go enter that one alone. Me, i no fit enter underground for 9ja o!! |
You forgot to include the purchase price for Lagosians of these "fine, fine solid" housing units. topazjosh: you may be right that fasola is not trying when the allocation is bn consider but are you sure you know what photoshop is?don't you know difference btw real pics and photoshop smh.Bros, which allocation are you refering to? geeez: I am typing this from inside the train in Enugu now. How can you say it's far from completion when it moves 3m passengers per day? Nna be very careful 3m passengers per day You must be competing wt London Underground that moves 3.6m/weekdays! Where are the 3m all heading to by the way?? & how dare you ride on the train that has not bn commissioned by our Governor?? |
geeez: I am typing this from inside the train in Enugu now. How can you say it's far from completion when it moves 3m passengers per day? Nna be very carefulGreat news! Fantastic! That must be a miracle considering tenders were just bn sent out 9months ago Can we have the pictures pls? |
geeez: This is nothing compared to Enugu monorail which is completed and we are waiting for the governor to commission the project when he returns. The rail lines have been built and the trains running as you can see Bros, the Enugu Monorail is 3 years plus away from completion. The contractor, Transglobim Nigeria Limited & Globim Corporation, Canada only just advertised Tenders for construction in April 2012 (http://tenders.nigeriang.com/construction-tenders-in-nigeria/construction-of-phase-1-of-the-enugu-monorail-transit-system-at-transglobim-nigeria-limited-globim-corporation-canada/6704/) |

kennytidistar: [Symphony007]As anti-fashola as i am, i don't see anything wrong in averting disaster and saving lives. My only concern is the "relocation" of the residence. Why are you concerned about their relocation? Its the job of Govt to do so & they are up to the task. Am not aware of any legitimately displaced people in Lagos state that have not bn adequately relocated. Why have people lost trust in this present administration? list out what they have promised you and betrayed you and other residents of LAgos state about? |
babyosisi: And people sang his praisesPeople sang his praises becos they knew not better. A lot also are singing praises of mediocre projects all over Nigeria that time will tell how long they will stand. Examples abound of Jakande's housing failures. Dolphin Estate Ikoyi used to be a Jakande Estate, the buildings had to be brought down. Jakande Estate at Lekki Beach is another disaster waiting to happen |
pheliciti: Sir, JB didn't fund the Project. Initial funds released in 2009 by Lagos State in the sum of N10b. Concession is for installation of tolling system as well as the O&M of the bridge. This information is readily available in the public domain. Tolling, apart from for commercial reasons, would have to be done otherwise, a 2nd free alternate road would amount to a dimunition in the earnings of LCC. I stay on that axis I look forward to plying the road. Thanks for the clarification. i found it as you mentioned in d public domain http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=100891:lagos-admiralty-ikoyi-suspension-bridge-gets-toll-gate-nears-completion&catid=25:property&Itemid=655 |
pheliciti: Please see attached picture of one of the newly completed bridges in Lagos. 1st suspension bridge in Sub Saharan Africa, costs N31b. Just 2 times the cost of the FG budgeted apartment for the VP, priced at N16b. That's where part of the Lagos share went.....Obviously, you are poking fun. Anyway, this bridge was built using the Private Public Partnership btwn Julius Berger and LASG. Julius Berger shall collect Toll on the bridge for a number of years and provide to LASG, their own % earnings |
HEALTHCARE We are rapidly coming to the completion of the Gbagada Heart & Kidney Centre, the Isolo General Hospital Mortuary and the Ayinke House. Our health missions continue to take basic healthcare for diagnosis and cure to our people in their communities, screening and treating them in their thousands for diabetes, hypertension and cancer. HOUSING We are currently constructing housing units in 10 sites in Igando, Omole Phase I & Phase II, Sangotedo, Mushin, Ilupeju, Agbowa, Ogba Phase I & Phase II, Surelere and Igbogbo. Employed are 882 main contactors, 836 sub-contractors, 1,835 artisans, 1,940 labourers, 905 suppliers and 49 food vendors; totalling 6,450 people employed in less than one year. Lies and more lies. This is how the state funds are siphoned and embezzled. Frivolous projects. Projects on paper but fully paid for. This has been going on for ages though. very sad @Lastpope, i believe all these above are verifiable, so i will pass on this but trust me, LASG captures those employment figures as the use it to issue Tax cards on site..LIRS visited a site i was only and speedily registered all those present that day they were not on the Tax roll already. What we also need to bear in mind is that not all of those pple are taxable if their income is below a certian level but they still need to be registered |
