TravelRe: FG Slashes British Airway's Flights To Nigeria by Guk: 4:22pm On Nov 03, 2011
@sweet9ja, Sit down there and think other nations are waiting for you. Ghana has started converting their domestic terminal to accommodate increase in Airlines flying into Ghana. AERO's ticketing desk has been moved to the domestic terminal and a dividing wall on the 1st floor opened up to connect to the International Wing.

Virgin Atlantic started operations in Ghana just last year and i have been on flights to London with scores of Nigerians onboard who came to catch the flight from Lagos.

one of the reasons United started flying into Nigeria late last year was because a sizable number of their patrons were from Nigeria coming over to catch direct flight to Washington DC.

In 3rd week August this year, my AERO plane had over 100 Nigerian young adults who were going back to resume school in Ghana. A major indictment on our educational system & you people are busy hailing ignorant leaders sad
TravelRe: FG Slashes British Airway's Flights To Nigeria by Guk: 2:20pm On Nov 03, 2011
For someone who has flown to and fro London from Ghana because the taxes are less than Nigeria's and paying less than =N=20k return on AERO to Ghana to connect those flights, BA will simple do deal with AERO & Air Nigeria, increase their slots to Ghana and move people seamlessly over the xmas period.

Ghana will benefit; Nigerians will travel with just a 45 minute inconvience; BA will continue to thrive; our politicians will still use BA 1st Class & uninformed ones on NL will keep hailing the politicians, what a shame!!!!
TravelRe: FG Slashes British Airway's Flights To Nigeria by Guk: 2:13pm On Nov 03, 2011
@dancewith and @PHIPEX, i usually dont react directly to people's posting but i will an exception in these cases.

(1) Number 1, your comments in contrast to mine lack objectivity.

(2) You applaud a govt that has not done anything to promote the local airlines to succeed but rather to retaliate.

(3) Bellview had slots allocated to it during Summer season last year 2010, did they utilise the slotshuh Is that the fault of the British govt??

Does it mean that because ARIk cannot compete successfully, then the succeeding ones should be slowed down??

please reason objectively before you respond to people's contribution.

Why did the govt single out BA alone and not slash Virging Atlantic's slots. Was it BA that denied them slots? BA might be the flag carrier airline of the United Kingdom but it is not owned by the British govt.

Slots are sold through a company called ACL who even have a Slot trader portal to make sale of slots transparent. I wait to hear ACL's own side of the story as all we are hearing is ARIK's.

Sometime in April 2011 when there was Temporarily Reduced Capacity, ACL made provision for all Airlines flying into Heathrow to slots on prorata basis.

And for those claiming that the British govt behave in a particular way, please how does ours behavehuh Wonderfullyhuh Please, make your govt accountable and not blame others for your woes. We are where we are today by our own doing, Simple
TravelRe: FG Slashes British Airway's Flights To Nigeria by Guk: 11:45am On Nov 03, 2011
It is such a shame that people are applauding this tit for tat retaliatory move. From the write up the issues are clear and existed for ever. We should not heap blame on our non performance on others.

(1) The BASA give Nigerian Carriers & UK carriers equal rights. We fail to utilise ours fully and then you applaud retaliation when you should be castigating your govt for not providing an enabling environment for local carriers to compete.

(2) ARIK did not get slots it requested for (do we know what slots they requested for? what if they requested for already taken slots so as to cause brohahu that will give them excuse from paying oustanding dues if any?) Some times we should be slow to speak and quick to listen well.

(3) Is it not our same govt that forcefully ejected Virgin Nigeria domestic operations from MMIA because MMA2 coerced it?

Please be careful not to succumb to these politicians diversionary tactics. Busy chasing shadows and neglecting substance
TravelRe: FG Slashes British Airway's Flights To Nigeria by Guk: 11:22am On Nov 03, 2011
And what happens if ARIK was just crying wolf?
TravelRe: FG Slashes British Airway's Flights To Nigeria by Guk: 11:21am On Nov 03, 2011
Whilst we have not been provided with enough information to make sensible judgement of this empasse, it would have been educative to know what roles the Trade and Commerce section of the Nigerian High Commission in London did on behalf of Arik and also whether Trade and Investment Ministry has intervened without success because the truth is, do we know whether ARIK itself has complied with the rules of the Aviation Authourities over the years? We have only heard from one side.

As for reducing the number of flihts for BA & time of arrival and take off, its akin to 'cutting one's nose to spite the face'. Has the aviation ministry checked how many nigerians fly on BA in relation to expatriates? We are probably more on the plane. You have just succeeded in inconviniencing your own people just to appear to adopt a bravado stance which doesnt excite the discerning traveller. Who will suffer from less frequency when coming home for christmas? Nigerians and BA. Our leaders need to think through things before shooting sporadically. And, can i rely on the intelligence of the Minister who came on TV and told us, to each ask the Pilot for weather conditions before allowing him to take off. Does she think Pilots are suicide professionals who will fly into bad weather against advice?

Christianity EtcRe: Major False Prophets In Nigeria - Must Watch Video added to last page of article by Guk: 6:36pm On Oct 24, 2011
Whilst i do not serve as advocate for any Mission/Ministry/Church or individual Pastor, i would expect that the Poaster should have been balanced in his video. In my opinion, the video is extremely biased for a number of reasons i will enumerate below:

(1) If you condemn with video evidence, you should take the pains to investigate positives from these missions as well. RCCG has several social reformatory avenues that they use in reaching out to millions worldwide. They have African Missions which helps all over Africa. They donated to Quake victims. They have drug rehabilitation centres in Nigeria. They have homes for prostitutes etc.

(2) The church should influence govt to build roads; water; infrastructure etc not take over from the govt. Missions dont and are not setup to have machineries of govt. If you do that, its akin to a coup.

(3) For those who have criss crossed African countries by air you would know how destructive it can be to your body trying to fly from one country to the other. Does that justify the need to buy private jets?? if it does, so be it. Am sure the govt dosent exempt them from flying and parking charges.

(4) Personaly, i am not in support of building monstrosities in the name of building houses of worship but pls note, Money is needed to run these ministries and as far as i know, RCCG has a financial policy of setting aside 5% of certain income to support rural parishes.

(5) In the write up by the poster on Adeboye, he wrote that money is sent to HQ. That model has largely saved RCCG from financial scandal for decades. Money goes into a central pool from which every parish draws a rebate to run their individual parishes.

(6) About Pastoral scandals such as arm twisting people to collect money etc: I personaly blame the people who fall prey to it because a large % dont read & seek to understand the bible & therefore follow Pastors hook line & sinker. The bible clearly says that "The Bereans were more noble than the Thessalonicans in that after having heard the word, the went back home to crosscheck it" I dare say that those who fall prey never crosscheck. Same with this topic, a lot have drawn out their daggers based on the poster's video without seeking to crosscheck. The fotos of most of those planes were general pix picked on the internet.

In conclusion, there are truly false prophets around the whole world, please shine your eyes by the help of the Holy Spirit

I would have thought that if Estate Agents find NLand a useful place to promote their products, then they should be listed.

BusinessRe: Cement Price Fall: Dangote To Construct Rail Lines by Guk: 10:26am On Oct 04, 2011
Dear Nigerian =N=lander,

I emphasised Nigerian becos they will be most affected by the downfall of Dangote if that ever happens.

For the uninformed, its in the interest of Nigeria & Nigerians that this guy does not go down or else we will all suffer for it for a short while.

(1) Let me explain. If this guy goes down, the banking sector in Nigeria follows him. His businesses are heavily indebted to practically all banks in Nigeria. This risk exposure is one of the reasons Sanusi is watching the banks like hawks. Every move of Dangote is financed by the banks. Who's money is in the banks? You & I. Who stands to lose if they go down? You & I. What happens to him?? He walks away, his companies are limited liability. Salaries of the largest employer of labour are provided by the banks, through Overdrafts.

Why cant the banks rein him in? Their exposure is so huge, they have to continue financing him to enable them recover back some of what they gave. Will they ever recover allhuh Not likely. He has the system by the jugular.

(2) We all know what a Stock Market means to any nation. This one individual can make you penniless on the stock market within a trading day, believe it or not. If you doubt it, go and do your research. He controls the stock market. The exposure is so bad, that he ahs to be considered when policies are made as anything that will affect him negatively will affect the entire stock market.

(3) No govt can ignore him cause he can fund you into power & you have no choice but grant him waivers that are unreasonable. Where will the money for the funding come from?? The banks!!!! Who owns the money in the bankshuh My & yours little little contributions.

He uses your money in the banks to run his businesses, you scramble for his LPO's and you still beg to be paid after 30 - 90days.

You pay him your hard earned income for a piece of his company in the name of shares and returns some naira notes to you in dividends and you hail him. please, who has attended any Dangote Sugar AGM beforehuh

Can you blame himhuh? NO!!!!! the system affords such Luxuries.

Is it peculiar to Nigeria alonehuh? NO!!! You have people like Lakshmi Mittal; Hinduja brothers doing same. Chagourys do it too. The Vaswanis got away with it for sometime but lost out. Billionaires tried it in Russia, Vladimir Putin chased them out.

If you were Dangote, what would you dohuh Use your own moneyhuh This is what they call OPM, Other peoples' money or you and i's monies
PoliticsRe: Gej Launches Database To Trace Vehicles by Guk: 11:28pm On Sep 08, 2011
@Poster, God forbid o! but Boko Haram steals your car, uses it to Bomb a building, how do you absolve yourself with SSS; NIA; Police etc in Nigeria of today since the database links the car to youhuh

By the time they finish with you, you'd prefered to have been a BH member.

Very laudable exercise but nothing to gloat about but i still doubt it as only a few states use Auto Reg. Over 75% of states still give out vehicle licenses manually and it will take a decade to sort out that data. FRSC, even though they are the sole producers of vehicle licenses dont have that database as at last month when i replaced a lost number plate.

All the same, good for 9ja
PropertiesRe: Competition For Agents To Find The Next Nairaland Estate Chosen By Nairalanders by Guk: 12:59pm On Sep 06, 2011
Please let this not become a turf for missiles and bullets.

(1) Its a free market. Anyone can make his/her project known.

(2) You have freedom of choice. No one is bound to any project.

(3) No land or house has been advertised for sale here & if even so, you have freedom of choice.

(4) Some people here have a track record of assisting others either for free or for a fee here on Nairaland. You dont have to patronise them. Its an open market.

(5) If you have a project you want to introduce to NL, go ahead and push it with passion. You are unrestricted as long as you respect common rules.

(6) Some people love to castigate & deride others unneccesarily. Ignore them.

(7) Have a great day

Whilst i am not providing advocacy for the G.O, there are a few things we have to understand without jumping to conclusions.

Pls note that even if the G.O. rejects armed security men at venues where he is preaching in Jos, the governor who is the chief security officer of the state and the National Security Adviser will still detail armed security overtly or covertly because the backlash of him be killed can engulf the nation in flames because of repraisals & counter repraisals so lets not be too quick to judge and conclude

Perfectly ok to do so. He is the one who knows his son & if he feels thats the best way for him to experience the "Real" world in addition to the Virtual/E-world, then so be it. The child will be better off for it. I personnally have some regrets from my teenage years when i wasted my french & typing lessons that my father paid for. I am paying dearly for them now.

Examples abound of those who expose their children to such way of life. It doesnt make them less Silver spoon. And maybe BRF is making the boy to remember his Surulere roots & not get too cosy with State House Marina grin

Having said that, some people still get away with using regular MOPOLs but nothing but nothing gives them the authourity to manhandled people

@Brabus, Thanks for the prompt response. I concur with you.

The other question is, being that you seem to be the key man in your company, how do you intend to handle projects in far apart locations at the same time for instance, if i want to commision you for a similar project at Ijanikin Rose garden. Ijanikin is after Alaba Market but before Agbara on Badagry express way

HealthRe: Fashola Celebrates Birthday With Physically Challenged Children. (pics) by Guk: 1:54pm On Jun 30, 2011
A few things to say here:

A number of people are very ignorant of what the place Fashola visited is. Its called Hearts of Gold Hospice at Alhaji Masha, Surulere Lagos. A Hospice is a home where terminally ill are helped to die nicely. Its serious business going on there not jestings as been bantered around on NL.

(1) I am of the opinion that beyond a PR stunt(which i dont think it is. He doesnt need this), he is provoking you and i to break out of our comfort & help the less prviledge. It doesnt cost a lot to do so.

(2) There are a number of "Real" NGOs doing great job under difficult circumstances in Lagos & beyond. find out how you can assist them as listed below:
(a) Du Merci Orphanage in Kano & Kaduna
(b) Oluyole Cheshire Home  Eleyeile road, Ibadan.
(c) Down Syndrome Association of Nigeria, Surulere Lagos
(d) Speech Centre for Autistic Children, Ikeja.
(e) Motherless Babies Home Lekki Lagos
(f) Motherless Babies Home Uch Ibadan
(g) Arrows of God Orphanage, Ajah.

Make donation in cash & kind to the carers as well because they are very important in the sustenance of these places
