But for the Senate President David Mark’s intervention yesterday, lawmakers in the Upper Legislative Chamber would have served President Goodluck Jonathan a “no confidence” vote. The Senators especially from the opposition parties were angry that the Presidency was not doing enough to stop growing insecurity especially its alleged inability to have answers to the Boko Haram menace.

The Islamist sect unleashed terror on Damaturu and Potiskum in Yobe State on Sallah weekend, November 4 and 5, killing over 150 people.

Behind closed doors in the National Assembly, Abuja yesterday, the angry Senators had harsh words for the President and his security chiefs over alleged failure to tame the Boko Haram members.

Sources present in the closed-door session noted that the anger against the President and his service chiefs started with scathing comments from members of the opposition parties and at a point, some even called for the passage of a vote of “no confidence” on Jonathan.

“For the first time in this chamber, Senators were very angry with the President and the security chiefs over the growing insecurity in the country. For the first time since 1999, Abuja had been under siege
“The Senate President quickly intervened on behalf of Jonathan and explained that should the chamber go ahead with the vote of no confidence that could be misconstrued to be an impeachment move from the Senate.
“At the end, reason prevailed and it was resolved that the Committees on Police Affairs, Security and National Intelligence, Defence and Army, Air Force, Navy and Interior meet with security chiefs on the matter, ” the sources said

Daily Sun investigations revealed that at the end of the plenary yesterday, the service chiefs responded to the summons and held a meeting in the office of a ranking Senator on the Fourth Floor of the Senate New Wing.
Should that meeting fail to yield the desired result, “another meeting,” sources told Daily Sun, “would be convened in the Presidential Villa.”

The expanded meeting, it was learnt, would also discuss details concerning the 2012 Budget.
Opening the session, Mark announced that “the Senate in closed-door session discussed matters of national importance affecting national security and other general issues.”

Regardless, Senate spokesman, Enyinnaya Abaribe, told newsmen at the end of the session that the chamber reviewed the present security situation in the country and has resolved to continue to dialogue with security chiefs.
Senator Abaribe pleaded with Nigerians to give the security agencies more time to tackle the matter.

“There was an executive session that was mainly concerned with the matters of national security. All of us are aware of the situation of things today in Nigeria and we want to also let you know that the National Assembly will continue to engage with the executive with regards to national security and I think the discussion is on-going to ensure that each and every one of us lives in Nigeria that is free from the current problem that we are undergoing and we hope that every Nigerian will be more concerned about our security and that is exactly what we are doing.

“On the kind of manual security measures in place presently, you will recall that not too long ago, we had an executive interaction with all the various heads of security organisations in Nigeria and this discussion had been on-going and part of what we did today at the executive session was a review of all these measures that are being taken.
“I think also that there is an on-going review which means that the measures will continue to be upgraded and improve with time. We are asking for a little patience and we know that things will get better.
“I think we have been having on-going discussions. The committees will engage with various security agencies and will bring report to us,” he said.

If you visit Nigeria security establishments and others apart from within Abuja or headquaters you could see that security is still not on her toes.Have you ever seen a security man working when assign to secure an area. They jsut form a group under a shade and gist all day long. Not being observant and not minding activites assigned to him.If you are guarding a place you should monitor all that happens around you.
We still inspect stuff by eyes and hand.Where are the typical well trained dogs in expolsoives, weapons, narcotics etc screenings they can do reliabily in no time.Tell them to buy 5000 dogs now for a start and someone has gotten looting galore and silly foreign trip tourism.Recently i was in the domestic wing of some airports. You could see how everyone simply works in with large bags in and out.The premises. Not to far ago someone in russia exploit same lapses to detonate an explosive in the waiting area.can we ever learn.we react only after the damage.how prepared and how serious is our security is an issue.
Things still happen my brother. We are not ready yet abeg. The flaws are too numerous and that is why BH is gaining grounds.I went to a secretatriat, interior for that matter and the security personnal were not interested in who i was but busy pricing xmas wears from someone during working hours.
We don't have to travel abroad for good dog breeds Nigeria has a significant number of breeders in the country at better offers than wasting money on flights. We also have agents who speciallize in dogs ,that can acquire the breeds we need. The police and other security out fits then take charge of training. After they have trainning to on how to handle them for the current security challenge.
The issues are plenty and we have not started.Unless we intend to sway our entire security with foriegn security personnel.

how much intelligence has they attain since this maddness started??

there are lots of question to be asked

it is either he is not up for the job or he is a coward himself

by now intelligence should be coming from the lagos port; mosques in the north;army;  police;niger;chad;pakistan; etc

yes u are right

by now intelligence should be flying in from everywhere

any Nigerian boarding planes to chad Niger Pakistan should be well checked at the airport etc

that just one example

in the mosques infiltrate that mosques; who came to the world to live poor put them on payroll

the same goes to the Niger border staffs etc

the same goes to some custom officers

the same goes to some okada riders in the north

the same goes to people that sells stuff on the street in the north

the same goes to staff in the hospitals in the Norths

the same goes to villagers in the north

the same goes to the transport drivers to the Niger and chad borders

etc

before u know it one of those mu da fucker will be caught with a swift helicopter awaiting somewhere in the north!even small Kenya dey try self in bamboozling those Somalian killers
you could be wrong that survillance should be restrict to one section or portion. The Niger state BH kingpin caught was a lagos based business man. Also terrorist are known to be deceptive until they attack. So if you confine your interest to a section, they could exploit the weak areas to reach there goals. You would be surprised that weapons flow from the south feeds some of this violent groups up north.Especially after the ND conflict.Arm dealers have no faith and alligence. They just have to trade there stuff. So anything for the money.
Make the bolded everyone and anywhere you visit or what you do regularly (profiling of all that is Nigerian and in Nigeria).people change and treats are dynamic.A friend today could be a foe tomorrow. So lets watch all and if one becomes a treat we act regardless.Basically your points are good.gbam gbam gbam!!!!It is so sad where our security cheifs sits down to inform US and other countries about our president and pressing national issues is unheard of unless in Nigeria.Top security personnel updating US ambassdors as if they are answerable to them.We can't stop them spying on us but it is also criminal for some one to share information of national concern with a foreign interest.

Kobojunkie:
They will foot the bill? Are you insinuating that when we send out troops out, we do it for FREE? I do hope you know that we get paid for the missions, right?? It is rarely volunteer

As the poster already mentioned, US, and many other countries have had their teams in Nigeria for a while now.

You suggest oil, and to that I say again, much of our oil DOES NOT belong to us. Majority shareholders in the western/asian countries that drill and refine our oils are not even Africans, let alone Nigerians. The US didn't need to come into Nigeria for that to happen. So, How can the US get stronger grounds in the Oil sector, when it could not do that in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, or any of the other Oil countries it has dealt with before now? Oil is sold at the same price to America as it is to Lesotho, so what is with this "they are here to steal our oil" mania?

Please help us define OCCUPY. The countries you listed above --- all have deals with the US that allows the US remain in those countries. Germany has NOT evicted the US and the US refused to leave. Same case in Kuwait, Korea, Japan. So, you will need to explain what you mean when you claim that the country OCCUPIES other countries? Recently the issue between Korea and it's neighbour escalated and I believe the US army was called in by the Korean Government to help ensure the security of the nation. Is that the country feeling Occuped?

It was recently announced that Japan, and some of the surrounding countries, around China feel increasingly threatened, and yes, again, the US forces in the area were suggested to be there to help ensure the situation does not escalate -- I believe one of the island officers in an island nation stated that the country needed the US troops in the area to come to aid it in ensuring that none of it's islands is lost to China. Is that the sort of statement you expect from an occupied state?

On asking for millitary presence in Nigeria, I don';t think that is entirely accurate. I believe that was in relationship to the situating of AFRICOM somewhere in Africa. Nigeria and so many other countries refused and that was that.

On the so-called 2015 prediction, I think we need to be honest here. We have Nigerians unwilling to fight for anything else, but looking for the country to break up. Lazy individuals who would rather vote in incompetent minds to rule them, what do you expect to result from all that? ORDER? Here's my prediction. If we continue this way, this country will not break up . . . no, it will likely end up like Somalia . . . war torn and miserably poor.

Your fact is NOT based on evidence, sorry!! That the US had to fight Alquaeda in Iraq, at one time, and then Afghanistan(where they are actually based) does not help your claim there at all. The USA leaves Iraq completely in a couple of months, and AlQuaeda is in places like Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, Tanzania, and recently Nigeria. Your Boko Haram group, has been linked to them. Are you going to attempt to argue next that US has invaded those countries and so the reason why Alquaeda has been working out of those countries? I don't even see what the good thing you speak of, is.

Your summary there just makes me wonder if you are commentingfor comments sake. lol . . . Alqaida fighting US influence in Nigeria? In of all places Northern nigeria where the 1000's who have been killed have been Northerners(majority) and no single report of foreigners being killedhuh WOW grin grin
You definitely mistaken in some areas.US would ultimately prefer a military presence in Nigeria to protect her energy needs. The best guarantee she has is total control of the source. She has achieved some through our corrupt leadership all along. But she is mindfull that someday a true nationalist with the interest of the nation may just come along and make her less of a priority. As such she needs to remain relevant and strong around or within Nigeria.Read more about her numerous request to have military presence in the country. She suggested a Navy to fight militancy in the ND than provide patrol boats she promised OBJ.She at the same time suggested 200  patrol boats to be efficient and yet rejected to supply. She decided to intervene in sao-tome after all the struggle to defend her peace has passed. The goal is not the people or the nation is about there energy needs.USA has always tried to project events in Nigeria and all they do is priority one how do we secure the refineries and the oil facilities and not even the immediate communities.Because she has always identified this so called militancy we are suffering now.In the north and south since her defense analysis during Gen murtala. So her goal is to create another green zone possibly.while we fight or burn she doesn't care.
Did you also follow her defense war game on Nigeria? She would provide Ghana with the resources to provide peace keepers in any event of war while she secures oil facilities. At the end she suggest a coup would sort us out.Are you kidding me!!Did you see her caring about Nigeria as a whole.
South asked UN not US.for your information US came because of the soviet.Current the situation has changed.South Korea is stronger than North Korea.Economically, scientifically and militarily.US has made her rely on her so the Korean army remains comatose in defense production.By and large if you must know in there must recent outburst and clashes did you see any USA army in front or killed? The S. Korean army fights back and is the main force of defense.I can tell you without USA they would even do better.today the choose to patronize US armament while other countries even japan has started her home made arsenal to deter bigger fires like China.
Also what is the mandate of US in that country.read first then tell me.While you are at it,check the capabilities of S.korea and N. korea? The only significant difference N.korea has today over S.korea is long range missiles and guts.Because US has choose to only allow S.korea to have patriot missiles and rely on her as a deterring force.US went there to stop communism and not bring peace.
In saudi and other arab countries she has military bases and the one in kuwait/Iraq provides her all she needs to watch all this countries effectively. You need to look at US defence strategy. She either keeps bases with strategic reach of her goals/interest or a carrier group around. She kept one off our coast (gulf of Guinea) claimed it was for military support/trainning and anti-piracy. Alot more are around Iran.not just for Iranian waters but to protect her nerve point for oil supply from the gulf states.
About AFRICOM,she still has interest and is very much interested in Nigeria as her base. She is just waiting for her chance through our leadership or the intervention we are asking.AFRICOM came after she made appeals to have a military base in Nigeria to help us with peace keeping trainings.Even victor malu detect there deceptive agenda and it caused him his job after going public.IF am wrong them AFRICOM belongs in somalia or south sudan!!!! undecided undecided undecided undecided undecided

Gbawe:
@Haka nai.

We should simply learn, at every stage, to put square blocks in square holes in always going for those with highest integrity and ability. What gave birth to ND kidnapping if not the arming of unemployed youths by wicked souls like Odili for political machinations? Boko Haram nko?

It is disingenous to be talking about foreign help when the problem we seek help for was deliberately created by selfish motivations/agitations that remain permanent. Will those who feel they were "treacherously" betrayed by GEJ, OBJ and Anenih go away once American firepower is deployed ? Why can we never learn from history in Nigeria? What has the USA achieved in Iraq and Afghanistan? Are those places more democratic or safer after US intervention?

Some problems remain to do with ideology and percieved injustice - a core concept 'Rambo-minded' USA will never understand . Shell/bomb a people to death if you want. They will only remain more determined to resist you if they feel you don't understand what they want. Where we keep getting it wrong  is our romance with very selfish men who only want to control our resources for their camp. They make their self-serving and hard-hearted choices and expect all of us to contribute to their selfish struggle with our lives !!!

We should not be in doubt that this struggle is to do with the need for two splintered camps of the PDP to control Nigeria's resources !!! Both camps are vicious and murderous !!! Non is on the side of Nigerians or making personal sacrifice in favour of what is best for our nation. Folks interested in doing what is best for Nigeria will understand the concept of sacrifice and humility. At no stage did those who wanted to control our resources , for their private cabal, show any interest in sacrifice or humility. They all, collectively , as very selfish and "do or die" men who should not ordinarily be near nation-building, chose to go to 'war'. Sadly many of us are now being forced to take sides without understanding that the best solution is not violence or going forward with this 'democracy' built, by crooks,  on deception .

This is why I said I envy Libya recently. I would love to be in their shoes with a National transitional council (NTC) consisting of men like Achebe , Soyinka , Falana, Col.Umar and others with undoubted integrity charting a way forward for our Nation with those into crude greed (OBJ, Anenih, GEJ, Atiku, Ciroma, IBB et al) totally frozen out. Alas , that is mere fantasy until Nigerians, mentally , arrive at the right 'bus stop'.
I totally agree with the points you made. They are primary to the suggestions most are making and can not be over looked. We have lost confidence in the ability of the Government and the people to come together and effect change. That is why Nigerians have made do with prayers, foreign intervention or taking the laws into there hands. So how do we go about it.We hardly can make the politicians listen or work in tune with reality. The gap between the populace and government is vast!!!!!
If your point is whether we can do it at home? i say yes.If GEJ can do it? i say yes and if PDP can do? it i also say yes. They biggest problem is how and will they?NO!!!!! We always forget one question,Is the Average Nigerian patriotic to the country?NO !! We are so divide that anything evil from the enemies of Nigerians will survive in our midst.
I am not defending GEJ here and he has his faults but do Nigerians truly want to build and be the real protectors of the country?A typical example of patriotism is Israel and i also believe the best ever.Anyone or anything that would disturb or hinder a nation should be termed an enemy.Removed or replaced.Israel will fight anyone within and outside Israel to keep her goals and interest towards development. An Israelite born far away grows to work in the interest of his country regardless of his citizenship status in any country.GEJ na person, security personnel na persons,PDP na persons and Nigerians  na persons. We either support each other or remove anyone that would hinder our progress. How much have you or i given to GEJ to suggest his weakness or clueless style?Don't tell me votes!! angry angry angry society makes a person also.
We need to be united under one cause and if leadership fails then we could ask for removal. The truth is GEJ is getting non of that till now.Even his people intimidate him till date.So what is it?

Kobojunkie:
Are you sure of the statement in red?
For the first quote if they come you should know they would foot some bills to get troops in Nigeria and since they know the country has oil the option would be for them to get stronger grounds in the oil sector and probably if they have international interest use Nigeria to that effect. In both cases they would always prefer to have them for ever.So the likely reason they would not choose after gaining influence or hold to simply give it back easily.
They occupy so many other countries like that and after decades are still there even after the countries have completely moved on.Japan,Korea,Germany, kuwait etc They have strategic goals and they always try to meet such.Even before now they have always asked for some kind of military presence in Nigeria.Simulated scenarios of Nigeria. The 2015 prediction and lot more. The have also asked for naval presence inn the gulf of guinea to tackle the MEND attacks. They also requested a land base to tackle people like Ghaddafi in the past.So there is no doubt they want something or someone in Nigeria cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy

Second qoute, definately it is known fact that US moves to counter groups like al-qaida sometimes and in other cases al-qaida moves to disrupt the influence of the west especially USA.The good thing for US is so long as they keep chasing them on foreign soil and fighting them there too regardless of who suffers it the most,USA would sleep peace and quiet.summary they maybe chasing al-qaida away from Nigeria or al-qaida fighting US influence in Nigeria. Both ways it ain't good for Nigerians.
Politics › Re: Does Nigeria Needs Foreign Military Boots On Ground!? by hakanai(m): 8:07am On Nov 13, 2011
Its complicated. On one hand such a move could help our current security situation improve and on the other it could make it worse.Like you rightly also stated They would come under our request but would only leave if they feel like it and it would not be up to us.
The involvement of super powers could help us tackle terrorism or escalate it.Because in any case US deploy troops then we can be sure the new al qaida battle zone has moved from Afghanistan to Nigeria (God forbid sha!!).
I still feel we have not explored our full potential to curb this menace completely. The FGN should conclude the National identification system,The border patrol units should be strengthen. The SSS,FCID and NIA should start random and intense profiling of all Nigerians/foreigners.Especially within the age peer, prone to such militant activity. The deployment of CCTV in all states, nation wide should be put in top gear. Not just Abuja only.Police formation and MOPOL need orientation and also change of strategy in response and detection. The FGN can implement this and cut the violence by more than half or atleast deterring others by making it difficult to carry out such attacks.
I also believe that the long term should be an over haul educational system. Not just compulsory education but an educational path that ensures students a groomed to have serious respect for Nigeria and Nigerians above all. From the Nursery to what ever level.Because we lack quality teachers- lacking both educational standard and patriotism to the National government. Some teachers tell pupils negative things about other Nigerians and openly discuss national issues negatively in front of pupils.
We also need to manage the instigation by people and groups through utterances.About the youths, alot needs to be done.so they get Jobs and become productive to the nation. Some of this are long terms and others are definitely short term.4 Months is enough to  have a significant change of all this.I know definitely employment and education is long term.Training ,over hauling of security ,public surveillance and border patrol are all do-able in 4 months. if political will and the finances to the right people are contracted immediately.
What will the US do that we can't do if we have the political will. Its not like they would have better military numbers, its not like there technology would always cover everything. We can do this.Lets just know the critical areas and strengthen them.forget politics.People are dying.Us can help us with trainning and the gear needed for counter-terrorism if they want to help.

I think that is lies except where maybe FG is saying that to reduce anxiety and cdalm nerves.I believe the attack on banks and security out fit is strategic/tactical.It enables BH arm and grants them funding.A change in there tactics tells you they want and escalation of the situation. It is also ridiculous to think its a northern scheme to fustrate GEJ.Ordinary Northerners are scared and just want to live. They are trying to avoid both BH and FG agents form victimising them. The traditional rulers are spoilt with bribes and have become ceremonial.Thay lack relevance and very few people would stake there lifes to carry out there orders.other wise they could have made it easy by out lawing the group and people would have fought them out of such domains. They have dare to kill folks from both faiths(Islam&xtianity).Inshort scholars in the Muslim fold have suffered the must casualties. They have attacked the arm agents,FGN,Abuja,UN,Shehu family members, founders relative, xtians, churches,IGP,Acting Goivernor, aspiring governor, legislators, northerners, southerners etc if this class have being affected would you want to get involved as an ordinary civilian? Also the populace have continued to fracture and cause division.Allowing the group flourish more and more.Today an Islamic scholar condemns them, others remain mute in fear or difference until the group sets an example of him for defying them.In other cases you find xtian folks attacking such views becuase of sentiments and joining issues that hardly make sense to the situation. What i expected would have being a collect denoucement by all groups and tribes as a nation.Support people that come out to speakregardless of there position in society.Giving the people the guts to speak out more and bringing more to go beyond mutual suspicion and sentiments.BUt anytime it happens all you see is resentment towards a group and religion further fueling passions and alienating unity of purpose.
Sometimes i just feel for GEJ.How he manages to keep this foolish nation moving despite irresponsible so called elders and religious leaders who ignite anxiett.
Foreign Affairs › Re: ... by hakanai(m): 1:23am On Nov 12, 2011
@pointB
nice analysis. But flawed in some areas based on poor assessments. The currernt reaity by far isolates Israel in many fronts over Iran>she knows that.Alot of power players can not foot such at this time.giving Iran more time to build defences.if today Russia supplies Iran the S-300 anti air units then Israel knows she is greatly weakened in terms of air superiority. Some how Iran still got to acquire through the back door a couple of S-300.If also Israel refuses to listen to russia there is every possibilty russia lifts the sale delay and supplies Iran.Thereby detering such damaging air attack.
I also believe must countries would prefer not to get involved.Do you know that Israel had strong intelligence infrastructures in turkey mainly targeted at Iran. They are in bad terms with turkey that reduced there ability to gather signifcant intel like before.Reason for her shift to the long range drone capable of spying and attacking IRAN.That said, human Intel is most reliable.Which turkey thwarted with there diplomatic row.Israel would have to rely primarily on covert special operations, ariel attacks and submerged marine tactical attacks.increasing risk and hoping Iran never shoots down there planes. They would also require Iraq for fueling/route if they decide to fly planes to Iran.Israel is also yet to take delivey of the raptors for air combat which have helped.
Iran has the capability of attacking Israel too.A typical case was that of Hizbollah. The worst case is the use of chemical missiles which Israel is trainning towards reducing damage. She could target Israel repeatedly with long range missiles and keep both Isreal and other nations greatly affected economically. While Israel can only hope on sorties to reduce the launch likie in lebanon. In this case Israel would not be able to roll in and out because the neighbouring nations are not friendly.Israel is counting on hitting and taking out the nuclear sites while they take the hit from Iran afterwards.
Both ways inshort,is it will cost more havock to the world.disrupt oil supply getting more countries invloved who rely on oil from the gulf and also the financial implication of an escalating conflict capable of affecting atleast 4 countries, namely Lebanon,Paleatine,Iraq,Iran,GCC countries and likely egypt.Cost and implication is great.Except where the US and Israel can make a surgical attack with damaging out reach capable of detering the Iranian from launching ballastic missiles in to Israel and also block ing oil flow through the strait of hormzth.
Abeg let Israel wait we already have too much to contend with.lets avoid all this un-nessacary war.

Abeg the North will survive it.Middle belt is not an issue here. After much the middle belt will be split and you can see the majority still make up the north>just TIv and berom or kaduna south does not make middle belt.
Secondly the north can stand and i maintain a split could drive its potential to grow and become viable.Where the leaders prone to stealing realize it is gone then what they have at home will become important to them.So don't worry for us we don't need your silly weeping. Some deluded goons here alway believe the north is hell bent on unity. You don't know jack poo.We want a split now more than ever. All the fools clamouring for unity are mostly from the PDP fold up north and enjoying the company of thieves. When it goes down they know PDP will be no more and the channels they created over time of stealing is gone.
People make me laugh, the SE is not all doing fine except for maybe a state or two.Same with the other regions.Do you know that we have states in the north that as it stands there IGR is far better than some southern states.Yet people just want to generalize and decieve people. The south has a signifiocant number of states that are not doing any better than the northern states that perform poorly in the north. So stop lying. Some states claim under the umbrella of zones not entity. If that is the case same should be applied fairly with facts up north. Not this misinformation strategy is short of quality and devoid of facts.
Lets split abeg o!We will learn/find away to survive.I can even see myself just fighting to get a good democratic leader up north, able to transform her and also tackle our problems.Foolishly people believe oil is everytin in economic progress.Only in Nigeria.Countries exist in the world that do well without it and even better than countries with the so called oil.Corruption is typically endermic in oil producing countries. The west ensures that and also a significant control in politics of such entity.
For me the north could partner with arab, eastern and western countries in need of farm produce.they bring money and we produce wit a market meant for them. From bio-fuel to food in aid to trouble areas.Already saudi is doing same with pakistan and other countries. Then also china needs alot of raw materials for its industries.Which is even better. But still managing our ties with the west.I say we look asia/east for technology until we kick start.I know the West may not want to share.China is not doing to bad either. So they come up first. They got cash, technology and associate with little care about interfering.
Lets try the split abeg.It may just help when we all realise we have neighbours that challenge you and you can't be left behind.mutual suspicion and economic rivalry my kick start significant growth.

Well i feel its a good idea.my reservation is that can it be implemented?I doubt it.In a case where even abia kicks its fellow easterners from civil service and places like Plateau are run by a particular tribe.Kogi where Igala will not let any other, Borno where Kanuris will not allow others.Delta has same issues etc I think when the real issue land, the real minorities would prefer the current state.Just because it would deprive them of there rights to get power and putting them under burden of marginalization. Its a good thing that should have being manitained before now. shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked
With people asking for more state, clamouring to be liberated or treated fairly by a majority it will simply cause more crisis.Everyone wishes they have there own dominate another, making it difficult to change. In this case they know that a merger could further religate them to floor members in the affairs of the nation and state. It will be difficult to sell. huh huh huh
I take a case of North-east.Automatically you can see that the Kanuri and fulani would run things,North-west Hausas,North-central (middle belt) you have the TIVs and Igala etc slug it out.Probably the beroms will have a bigger foe to fight than the Hausas after such merger. cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy

Honestly the removal is not the issue. It is about taking a good look at GEJ.How he has failed in several attempts to curb his detractors. How on earth can he manage the same group if they switch from subsidy leeching to contract frauds under his government. Why does GEJ continue to go in circles than hit the identified enemies of progress. If a group or cabal or something is hindering the effectiveness of subsidy, why not deal with it.Round them up give them an ultimatum and bring policies to mitigate there activities.Sometimes GEJ really makes me wonder how powerfull is the presidency and his government authority in real sense.
Please GEJ no short to all this things.set examples by dealing a severe blow to some cabal members and then dialogue.so they know when push to the limit what you can do.Lastly i thought EFCC also handles economic crimes? What in God's name are they still doing that they are not prosecuting this cabal members for divertion of funds and economic sabotage.
Instead we are battling to remove the subsidy and make things difficult for the ordinary man.Why will a few make the government chnage her policy even against the majority wishes of her people. Why remove subsidy because of a cartel and victimise the populace.I don't see the logic. If it nevr worked properly.make it work since you know.NIGERIA is GREATER than a F@@king cartel or cabal.GEJ,FG and co una dey fear them pass peace and law abiding majority Nigerianshuh?

JNI Warns FG Over Insecurity Of Its Members

News

Following the one-week warning to all Muslim communities resident in the Niger Delta to vacate the land by a Warri-based group known as Egbesu Mightier Fraternity, the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) yesterday called on the federal government to, as a matter of urgency, look into security threats being made against the people.

The Islamic body, which expressed concern over the fate of Muslims in the South-South region of the country, said it is the responsibility of the government to ensure the security of lives and properties of its citizens irrespective of where they may find themselves.

The Egbesu Mightier Fraternity group had, in a letter dated October 10, 2011, copied to the Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, said “Dear Muslim communities in Niger Delta, leave our land (Niger Delta) now within seven days.

No basis for unity. We are compelled by the present Boko Haram’s merciless bombings in the country without veritable developmental agitation. Even, the killing is going on in the north.

The continuous killings of Christians in the north should be stopped forthwith. Call your brothers to order.”
Speaking at a press briefing yesterday in Kaduna, the secretary-general of JNI, Sheik Khalid Abubakar Aliyu, said that the Muslim communities are “under serious threats and, as a result, some of them have started moving out of the region because it is no longer safe for them to live there.”
“Muslims are under serious threats of their lives and property in the Niger Delta region and we have not heard anything from the government.

Information reaching us say some of the Muslims have started moving out, so it means the threat is becoming a reality and there is an inherent threat from some Christian militants from Kaduna who call themselves Akwa’at which was carried by some newspapers.
The story reads: “Christian militants threaten to hunt Arab nationals in Nigeria.’’

They mention countries like Saudi Arabia, Iran, Syria given orders by their superiors to hunt down these people and deal with them, which is also a very serious threat to peace and tranquility in this country.

Where are the rules of the game relating to bi-lateral relations where some groups will just spring up and dash threats on people?’’ he lamented.
According to the JNI’s sec. gen., “One of the most pathetic and disheartening situation is how somebody like the president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Iritsejafor, would stand up and call on the government to allow the owning of guns by Nigerians in this situation of security threats where there are so many restive youths and for whoever has the money to engage them.
He queried, “Countries that have legalised them, are they any better? An example is the Norway massacre where a young man killed about 90 students.

Therefore, it is uncalled for and I think when people who occupy leadership positions especially of religious nature, should speak with wisdom and I think their utterances should be those that will bring about peaceful coexistence, understanding and good social relations with one another’’.
On the Jos crises, he noted with disappointment: “It was sad to read on the cover of newspapers that a Ward head seized by JTF was found dead.

Security people who are supposed to broach peace, who are supposed to protect lives and property of people, but unfortunately they are not concern with security of life and property, rather they destroy them.

Therefore, we call on the government to see to the investigation of the cause that led to the death of Alhaji Ahmadu Ali Kazaure, the ward head that was allegedly killed in police custody.”
He called on media organizations to always avoid anything that would cause rift for peace and harmony to prevail in the country adding that religious issues should be religiously handled in consultation with relevant faiths before legislation.
He further decried the moral and ethical threats on the proposed legalization of prostitution, saying “they said that because prostitution is becoming a menace to the country all efforts have been made to curtail the issue, and it seems it is becoming nagging. So the only solution is to legalize it.

What type of thinking is this? Do the countries who legalise prostitution solve any moral and ethical problems? In this trying moment of in country when we need moral regeneration and uprightness.

Before this saga of the legalisation of prostitution was the attempt to sponsor a bill that would allow for same sex marriage. After the socio-economic crises the country is facing, which we have not solved, we are thinking of adding insult to injury; democracy is not madness.”
He maintained that JNI is concerned over the incessant increase in the rate of rape in the country and it is becoming a menace and it cuts across all the geopolitical zones in the country.

It is quite unfortunate, especially with the new trend where young boys will target older women or mad women and small children at kindergarten age, he said. “It is really serious in this country.

The law must come to action to bring the perpetrators of this hideous act to book and our legislators are not called to come and bring foreign culture to our country.”

For me it is long over due. Better they come back o! ESpecially since alot of them hardly do anything meaningful to say it is worth remaining in the ND.Hate when i see them guarding, doing shoe repairs or selling things like cigarrettes. Now the Governors up North should get them rolling in the farms and upgrading the educational standards especially in areas of Information technology.Else let the revolt start up north like the post-election violence but targetted at the elites and crooks stealing such that the governors and does in governement will reject there positions out of fear of failure except where they are sure to deliver.

Bros, the continual and systematic butchering of Southerners in North over the years and then the recent bomobings in the name of the Allah. "The Most Merciful" are the factors the core North used to isolate itself. Yes, there were violence in the South. MEND wanted a fair share of the oil drilled from their lands after years of neglect, criminal gangs violated and maimed but not in the name of God.

It is absolute stupidity for someone to call for Sharia in Nigeria. In Christianity, we have laws, yet, I cant even impose it in my immidiate family. We rather persuade and preach to men. If Islam have no other way to sread apart from violence, then I make bold to say that it is nothing but a religion of the cave man.

Yet, get this straight, It is clear we have two kinds of Islam in Nigeria. One practiced by the core North and the other practiced by the rest. Let the core North understand that if polictics must be integrated with religion, then it must have a peaceful approach. As at this moment, the core North is isolating itself. Not  because of Islam, but becuase it is politcally violent in the name of Islam. IT is a shame.
Keep at it.The question i asked you has just taken you in to another issue of insecurity!!!SNC is the issue. How have you southerners handle the issue on your own part, to show the north is the real factor hindering ithuh??Who amongst the southern people in power have pushed for ithuh What are your representatives doing in national house of assembly or PDP that they can't lobby or push for ithuh? For me simply your are a bigot. you raise religious issues and what your evil wishes are for the north.Talking about religion or region or insecurity has no issue here.It belongs in the SNC so why have your people not insisted on it beyond mere news paper chatshuh? nonsense.

That is a good analysis.I like the way you brought it down and showed every sense in managing the political players in every nation.GEj has supports and loyalist who try to divert attention from his woes by libel and sounding as victims.Considering GEJ is suppose to be the most powerfull man in nigeria and a leader of vast supporters yet he fails to see his relevance and what God has put on his laps.GEJ simply needs to get up and embrace the challenges and deal with resistance to his government with strategy. His foot must be on ground and he decisive.Nigerians and the world is your sphere and you must leave up to it.You are the authority where ever Nigeria is mentioned. Not the way GEJ always seem so being haunted.Connect, learn and be smart. No single being has existed without an enemy or resistance but you must find a way to defeat such or atleast put them within your control.

nagoma:
Obviously the southerners who were not in touch with any civilization and were living a primitive life as recently as the 18th and 19th centuary are now having the last laugh. The changes in the world , the industrial revolution and movement of the focus of civilization to the West means that people who have some conflicting heritage to defend are at a great disadvantage and at a loss unless they realize that the world has moved on. This is where the North got stuck. They think (or at least there masses think they have a heritage of civilization to protect).
As for the south , in the majority do not really have any strong civilization to protect and were able to accept in totality all that is western - the religion, the clothing, the drinks, the education, the way of life and infact almost all of them(southern Nigerians) aspire to migrate to the West if they can make it. It is a great ambition in their lives.

This Northern disadvantage is aggravated by the lack of leadership in the north and in the country and also world order that appears to be persecutory to muslims. This does not give an atmosphere for northern masses to crave for western education. Money does not come into it.
^^^^^ Couldn't have said any different. But on one hand is time the governors insist that there people embrace education en-mass and also ensure such educations are of average quality for now unitl subsequent standards are raised to meet intl standards. For me i don't care using wipes to force children to schools and make sure they are given orientations to encourage them on making sure they continue to further same.I know things are changing even in the north. people claiming that northerners are the same educationally as 10 years back are just peddling lies.Alot of people now see the importance of knowledge especially western and theological. We only need to enocourage more, improve quality and provide for more students.
some parents are stubborn and they need the wipe if need be.Education must not be optional.I would choose compulsory until they attain a certain level.
More northerners attend schools now than before. But alot needs to be done.In terms of quality, orientation in schools and outside schools.Even western eductaion can be customised to me our cultural views. If religious study is so important we could add it to science and other fields of education in the curiculum so that students can end up being up to date yet remain within the cultural beliefs/educational drive of necessary to the communities and the world.
Afterall education encompasses all form of literacy. You may wonder how a chinese is thought biology in mandarin? or a Japanese thought how to compute or use calculus!!!
