lonamy:
I do not hold the opinion that the leaders are weak. The problem is money, when money exchanges hands your mouth will be closed.
I equally believe, Olusegun Obasanjo has done a very deep underground work, by opening up certain secrets that were behind these feudalism and holigalism, and such make regions begining to wake up and discover the kind of slavery they have been long sold to.

I wish MBA best of luck in their agitation for freedom and self reliance. But my advice is that, they should learn from the mistakes of other regions who had long been in the fore front of agitation, so that they will not end up further cracking their ranks and thus allow the boko harams to use the loophole to work against them.

They should carry along their leaders and never intimidate anyone whom they think had sold them in the past. All and sundry should be carried along in this contention and form alliance with all other regions who had been yarning for Soverign National Conference. In doing this, the entire world will know that the core north is the problem of Nigeria, for in their interest is to rule forever and force their religion on the entire nigerians and enslave everyone.
This kind of idea is as if they are still living in the 17th century. The world has become a global village with technologies changing the way we live.
Think of what is happening in the middle east and the horn of Africa.

Boko Haram states wake up, things have changed.
Who exactly told you that?hope is not your fairy god mother?Last i checked some people refused to continue and some others in political parties mostly from the south and north insist its for the national assembly to tackle not the SNC.Today atleast GEJ is in power and last i check Obj had 8 years going to 12.Why has he not allowed it happen. He controlled the military,PDP,governors, political and influencial groups why did he not do the SNChuhhuh Please tell me that.Atleast he showed when it was about him he could arm twist.WHY WHY WHY WHY.This are cheap excuses most southerners make and some silly fools. They have created a boogy man and simply turn anytime its bad and convienient to blame someone while ignoring the fact they also have not done well or much to make it happen.I support SNC and Split anyday anytime if its the people mandate.Even in the last SNC where the northern elders resisted resource control, some states in the south support same view eg Ekiti.Yet its only the north that takes the blame.Amongst the Northern groups the northen youths insisted and supported the resource control issue.Asking the elders to be considerate. So why generalize and pretend ignorance on issues or exibit selective amnesia to issues just to relieve stress or woes made by yourselves.Keep the blame game and see how far it takes you.
We all have legitimate ways to also make it happen.Insist and force the legislative and executive arms of government to hold such SNC.It doesn't lay with the north or northerners alone. Its is collective fault of all peoples and region. If you want it insist your representatives push for it.They won't simply because they are the same bunch benefitting from the current chaos.yet they give you people silly excuse as, no its the north blocking it.How many times have your representatives push for it on the floor of the house, while holding public office or power or while protesting on national issues sincerely.Especially from within the fold of PDP.Even Buhari, people see as being a northern agenda has endosred the SNC and promise to make it happen. How many times has GEJ done samehuh? I wonder!!!!! stop peddling lies or please kindly name the northerners who have blocked same by name and the southerners who have being hindered by same from pushing for a SNChuh?

Are they just woken up? They now realised what everybody has be telling them for long? So sorry for them to be honest because they have be sleeping since following people that sees them as nonexisting people in the first place.
Just woke up? who exactly?? did you see the name of the group members all xtians and did you see the plans for the middle belt of the future?to make it Islam less.In your dreams. The muslims in the middle belt would sit still and watch that happen.Maybe all this middle belt could happen in some parts of plateau/taraba,benue and southern kaduna.worst senario!!!!The muslims see there plots all.The middle belt has a significant number of muslims who just choose to be quiet and not foolish.Until they try that stunt will they know there own mistakes for real.Even the elders would not listen to them except for some states.why do you think after all this yaers of noise little is on ground to show for it.Simple it won't work. Some middle belt states are more northern and muslim than others.by and large more are northern than middle belt.so all the noise leaves them fallow period.have you forgotten the sign post on roads stating "middle belt region" all noise yet it failed.
They have an issue, where the xtians want a place to dominate an they don't have simply because the muslims they hate so much still constitute 70% of there population and even more within all zones. They simply water it down with the lies of minority or middle belt cover but its actually more of religion than really region or ethnicity.check the people fronting all this and even the report here you can see there goal is not a secular zone but xtian dominated zone even where they know they don't make a majority.Name the states and tell me the Xtian ratio to muslims.?Its purely religious and the muslims can see beyond the lies. Some Northern xtians just want to find an area they can dominate o !!! Beroms in Jos slaugtered fellow muslims of same berom tribe and clan because of faith Islam! this are facts from beroms driven out of there native territories over marrying a muslims or being a muslim.Eg of such a person is Shiek Suleman Choji of Gyel in Bukuru area and the report who went to cover the Dogo nahauwa massacre who almost got lynched despite being a berom man himself except that he was a muslim. So is it tribal? Is it regional? Is it Minority or is it religious?I know definately say its religious and i have alot of muslims MB that believe the same as motive. They know the motive!
The few indigenes of some states and the christians in the north make the noise about the crap thing. They know and are sure it is not possible Simply because the goal is to creat a xtian Northern zone. With little regards for all Muslims or Islam. They may say middle belt verses north. In Jos alone during the crisis the Muslim minorities killed were significant, yet they claim it is a North vs middle belt fight. We in the north know and they also know. The fools making all this pronouncitions are just seeking relevance and a role in the turn of things.Hoping someday it may happen and they would end up leading same. They can have Benue and some parts of plateau and southern kaduna.others i doubt sincerely.

what of. the nation newspaper about the Obasanjo letters and the other lies about different reports.Na today!!!! Anyway the only thing i can say is people should start taking media houses to court to get cash o!That issue of libel! if Buhari carry am go court alone, he would be richer for it.If alot of Northerners could simply sue must of the southern papers trying to depict elders/people with tonnes of lies and numerous exaggerations. Its time for people to sue for damages abeg not just counter with mere talk and all that bullshit.Lies lies lies yet people believe it when its against persons or people or tribe to dislike and only dispute same when it has to do with them. undecided undecided undecided undecided undecided

For the guys shouting if GEJ did that what is wrong with it!! for me its okay but why say the north has done same.Where even in the presidential response, it has being stated that the projects were contracted under yar'adua. The same northerner that you claim did nothing. You people are just so self centred and filled with crap.na your man dey there yet he is trying to maintain a project initiated by a northerner. angry angry angry angry

BetaThings:
Because

2 Issues:
(a) Late last year, most of the people from SE shouted that no we should not select president on the basis of zoning
We were told we should imagine the calamity if we selected members of the Eagles based on zoning
They declared zoning unconstitutional
Now what has changed?

Are we to suffer amnesia, forget the argument and assume the new argument is patriotic?

(b) The South has always argued that the North monopolised power.
I agreed and supported power shift to the South in 1999
But it looks like the South does not mind monopolising power
1999-2015 = 16 years, South 13, North 3
Yet South still want an additional 8 or 12 (Jonathan 2nd term and SE 2 terms)
This would add up to 21 or 25 years within a 24 or 28-year period
^^^ what else ma guy.Its called magu magu and typical of a hypocrite who can't keep to agreements or stick to fairness. They sang all over that its about best candidate and scrapped an agreement they are all aware and consented to in secrecy.
Now the issue of being voted on such a reason, long discredited and despise is being applied to another party or group of people.I doubt much if such terms would hold water again.Zoning and tribal excuses are not merits to aspire to rule Naija again.Make una bring us candidates that can deliver nationally.Otherwise shut-up and keep voting.
Anyway Kudos to them(ohaneze) from being diplomatic in there approach and non confrontational sha!!!

No zoning!! No Ethno/religious voting and No Stupidity while choosing candidates.Let merits and what they stand to do for Nigeria speak for them.Right now i see candidates from the NC,SW and NE being more active
No Igbo yet in power na lie sha.what of GEJ nko!!!remember he is your cousin and even named Azikiwe.Given an Igbo title that makes him a guardian. Also Azikiwe and Ironsi led this country all Igbos.Ojukwu too only that is was his part of the country.Lets rotate abeg. grin grin grin grin grin grin grin cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy
All have tested power lets just cut that crap and vote in good hands period.Nothing like Igbo president again get it into your brains. We need Nigerian President!!!!!!!
Politics › Re: Northerners Given Ultimatum To Quit Niger Delta By Militants by hakanai(m): 12:10pm On Oct 13, 2011
Its not GEJ that is at fault in anyway abeg!!! stop calling this man name for every little issue that involves Nigerian man stupidity. Its simple they even want him to suck up to them since Boko haram is taking away all the uselessness from them.I don't see where it concerns them where person dey bomb not only xtians but muslims and northerners.I don't see where it concerns them where the army is already doing its bid to calm the concern.I don't also see how they are promising to use violence against people to solve another violence being legitimate.Above all sending it to Muslims implies muslims and not northerners or Boko haram. Not withstanding it just shows where there envy is more and more!!!!Next time please make sure it gets to ACF and northern governors.
The ultimatum is also okay to a large extent. In the sense that most of the northerners there are not really doing anything worth staying there. There activities could still be done at home and still with pride rather than what they engage in and the way they put themselves in harms way.So Northern governors its over to you to send or plan a means to collect your people and re-integrate them back home simple.Stop stealing e don do just get this folks producing up north again. The host wants you out.
Also please the north should know there is need to send others parking too.Ensure we  know the difference between Ijaw and yoruba and Igbo. This is Ijaw man agenda strictly. For me i have no problem with alot of yorubas and Igbo natives up north. They are mostly law abiding and i love to have them around. Some are just Northerners for all i care.

Hey guys i thought the ADC of GEJ is an army man, why is he in Airforce uniformhuh?
For GEJ is understandable as C-in-C he is all in charge of the security and its personnel. As such he is military, police, airforce, army, navy, sss,NIA,Immigration, customs etc overall national leader. So he could wear any uniform. What of the ADC can he do same toohuh? huh huh huh huh huh huh huh They maybe be armed forces.they still have there unique laws and ethics. That keeps them apart and unique from the others regardless.Would he then ever where prison warder uniforms or police uniform if GEJ does samehuh? undecided undecided undecided undecided

Politics › Re: Fg Launches N50BN 'YouWin' Job Creation Fund by hakanai(m): 8:54pm On Oct 12, 2011
@beaf
GEJ has shown concern with this intention but i would seriously suggest that they revive all the comatose industries in the nation.Adding  more to this funds and injecting it into the dying industries. If it means buying them up or investing in others. Then putting it back into the hands of skilled private sector entrepreneurs and then employing youths within reach of such localities. With that alone you could bring back the community interest in developing there communities,en-role more and also have more people pay government some taxes.while having the company still there and serving the generation to come. Also people grow and set up there own as things happen.
Also where all are aware its collapse would be there pain, people would work hard or get kicked out where they are found lacking.In-short even where they are failing, its better government is paying the company to keep more staffs employed until companies are revived or through the difficulty.
Use proper monitoring and act as is a case in business investing in other companies.
We have capable hands. If it means bringing sound minds from outside to lead the company until we can take  it over.50billiion is substantial to restore alot of large farms, starting new large farms and  blue chip companies or conglomerates.Start or invest as a government with the intent to keep the youths employed into them.Support companies with more Nigerian employees and encourage the small ones to grow and recruit more.
He means well but put the money in existing business to expand or revive dying companies.I definitely know at the end this will not get to the right people and above all the impact is short lived and a temporal solution.Making it wasteful. When this people get the cash as usual we would not easily monitor. From the project looks, it makes the individuals easily default or squander such with little check and balance in place. Is more like free money to some people.if it does get to the people.
Challenge Nigerians, mix Nigerians with nationals with exposure and invest in there ideas. It develops Nigerian economy and empowers more steadily as they grow. With lesser risk than a one man business.

Politics › Re: Jonathan Is Clean, Honest – Wikileaks Quotes El-rufai by hakanai(m): 10:41am On Oct 08, 2011
doublekay:
Contrary to his scathing criticisms, former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Mallam Nasir El-Rufai gave President Goodluck Jonathan a clean bill of health on financial accountability and transparency on the international front,a fresh report by Wikileaks has revealed.

In a United States diplomatic cable just made public by the whistle blowing organization, El-Rufai described President Jonathan as “ clean and honest”.

Details of the confidential cable with reference 07ABUJA77, show that the controversial politician gave the endorsement during an interactive session with the erstwhile American Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr John Campbell, in the build-up to the 2007 general elections.

Explaining the rationale behind the emergence of late President Umaru Yar Adua and Goodluck Jonathan as the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) candidates, El-Rufai informed the ambassador that “they were the only two Governors that could have cleared the EFCC hurdles”

The cable further reported El-Rufai as stating that in the contest for the Vice Presidency, “Governor Jonathan was the only candidate that met Obasanjo’s guidelines- honesty and Ijaw”

The Ambassador’s report disclosed that “the Minister said the PDP leadership pushed for Rivers Governor Peter Odili as the Vice Presidential candidate but that Odili along with Governors Markafi (Kaduna) and Mu’azu (Bauchi), face ‘integrity issues’ with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)”.

These disclosures are in sharp contrast to the virulent and disparaging attacks by former minister on President Jonathan whom he is accusing of corruption, profligacy and mismanagement of the nation’s resources.

In one of his recent tirades against the President, El-Rufai alleged that he used “crony capitalist and state funds – variously estimated at between 1 and 2 billion dollars to facilitate his election”

He also accused Jonathan of “practically sharing out the nation’s savings account to state governors, Party apparatchiks and traditional rulers to buy their support for his presidential bid”

According to the diplomatic cable, El-Rufai denied nursing any presidential ambition but stated that his rumoured interest was only being advanced by his admirers including Obasanjo.

“When President Obasanjo called me to ask about my intention, I told him that I would do it, but that I had not campaigned for the position” the report quoted El-Rufai. It added that “According to El-Rufai, the president agreed with him and told him that there were ‘other bridges’ to cross before EL-Rufai was ready “

In the report, The former Minister claimed to have known late President Yar Adua for about 25 years and described him as an “odd fellow”.

vanguard news
If you read this area of the caption you would note that it was based on one man's standard oga Obj!!! EFCC track and prosecuted people as wanted by Obj and cleared only people they want.So how do we grade the facts and means of clearing such a person.
Until date Obj has not being questioned or queried in anyway by EFCC during or after his government even where it remains a fact PHCN power projects causing the nation billions in dollars under his nose with nothing to show for was an obvious and out right scam. Also the COJA games that cost the country a stadium aka national stadium Abuja crazy amounts.
GEJ maybe clean and honest but frankly lacking in merits as a leader.Being just honest and clean doesn't make you a good leader considering we accept EFCC clearing of GEJ.Let me tell you Abdullahi Adamu of Nasarrawa is a qualified thief yet he kept coming back to power without questions under OBJ.
Without doubt GEJ has kept quiet while people stole around him.Mostly so he could be left to alone, despite being capable of stopping such to save the nation from decay as the president.
Honest and clean?Lets check the records since he took power in a year plus and compare spending to visible implementation of such budgets.presidential level and then at state level to see his role to ensure accountability.

And people should stop calling Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, only the core North and Jihadists will vote for such bigot;

Ngozi Okonjo Iweala is more than capable of ruling Nigeria, likewise Rochas

Fashola (even without Tinubu) wont be a good sale; SW simply will have to wait - political expediency.

2015 will be a straight fight between the politically marginalized SE and the born-to-rule North;
Sentiments, tribalism, and religion will play a very critical role; and yes we the youth will be at the forefront of all these.

So sorry to burst your bubbles, being called youth does not isolate one from reality; after all it is the Northern youth that are killing people in Jos and bombing Nigeria in the name of Boko Haram!

2015 fight will be Core North versus South East, if my able and very hardworking presido GEJ, decides not to throw his hat in the ring!

^^^^ the Plateau case has people on both sides grooming the menace and then pretending to be offering the solution which is filled with deception. The governor, elders(especially religious) and youths in plateau are to blame for the recurrent conflict in that state.period!!!!The governor is not serious at all about bringing an end to it.Why is it that after peace has returned suddenly some morons start it and then simply go back and feel fulfilled. They also get praises for snuffing life out of people, because they have continued to galvanize people along religious thoughts and also because they have failed to tackle the real issue head on.
Both faiths and both tribes engaged in this violence have co-inhabited for along time.harmoniously! why now? Also even if this issues take place there are ways one can act as a neutral leader so that both sides look up to you as a true father.Where if they quarrel your desk becomes the last bus stop for resolving it.Today it can't be resolve in Plateau because the governor is religiously and tribally bias.So the reason it travels as far up.Hope they find true lasting peace. Not the deceit and secret instigation, while condemning publicly.
Policing is as good as people providing information and exposing culprits of crimes and then insisting on  Justice.Where in just attacks are usually collective efforts of communities to kill person(s).Both side continue to cover/justify crimes they commit

Mr beaf are you suggesting the purging of the army based on ethnic and religious reasonshuhNot just because someone committing treasonable/criminal act.Just because he is from a particular side of the country?I hope you are listening to yourself, because people are not fools and even your lord GEJ knows just how far he can go with a so called purge.Unless it is suppose to be a long term plot.which will also fail without doubt.Because as soon as states notice there quota disappear!!!!!!They have Political,Judicial and other means to insist on there right to be a part of it.
It should not be about ethnic or religious reasons but a clear indoctrination of the army to be strictly secular.Discard religious/ethnic activities from the military.Just like in many countries eg Turkey. The army becomes a guardian against extremism and anti-national vices without remorse or favor shikena. But suggesting that Northerners be targeted is just going to destroy the nation and add speed towards separation.

Rochas
Ken Nnamani

An enclave called Biafra held the whole of Nigeria, British and other foreign powers to ransome for 3 years.THREE CRAZY Years. We sought for self determination, your British overloads had their hidden agenda and they would not let us go our way in peace. Even our neighbours who should have supported us or at worst remained neutral chose to sabotage our efforts. The result is not history, Nay, it is what we behold happening today. What teh IGBO man saw ahead was the perpetuation of Northern Oligarchy with intent to use the oil from the South to develop the North, We sought to curb that and bring the minorities around us closer home so we can share our commonwealth, but in their 'short termism', they sold out, today Ken saro Wiwa and the Ogoni 9 died for the same cause they sabotaged us on.

The IGBOS were not oblivious of the existence of modern war tanks and ammunition with which to prosecute that war, we were only handicapped. Ojukwu used his father's money principally to fund the war, when Awolowo decided on changing the currency to ensure it became useless for the average Biafran Man. I recall my Dad saying something like all he had in teh banks automatically came to 50 pounds.

Boko Haram will continue to deal with you people, very soon they will come down to the west and hit you all, but take this or leave it, the events of 66-70 had come and gone, it would have been nice to have learnt lessons, but No. you twarts are fanning the embers of war, one thing is clear in my head, unlike the last time that the war started and ended in the IGBO heartland, this time, we will bring it to your domain. You know our strength? there is no place in this country that you would not see an IGBO man that speaks and acts the community that he is living in. Keep on drumming up war, i for one will be part of the infantry, i promise you. FWOOLS
What ever guy,you lost.whether we gang up or how long, it still came out positive IGBOS LOST big time and still cry till date. Its obvious too that at one time the Northern man asked for same seperation but was denied.Objected the Issue of Nigeria Unity which your brother azikiwe and co campaigned in support.
Boko haram, its an evil that has befallen us and you have yours too and i would rather keep myself focus on my area and its troubles.Iknow someday it would pass.Like GEJ said its true that it happen all over the world.Which is a fact. Its also Obvious that at the end they always lose.if not single out some places they have won and own.trouble times you may say.Well we didnt roll out the war drums, even here your brothers first did with calls to wipe others and the continued aggressiveness.Even where no body from the north here has said anything you people are just all over.Anyway when you match out as an infantry i hope to be there in an armoured vehicle to crush you dead on the battle front which shall be you village.

The yorubas had empires and fought to stretch such bounds and had fought the fulani and other foriegn interest from tresspassing there domains. In the north the fight stretch as far North africa and between different kingdoms.eg Kanem Borno and Fulani.Kanem borno and the Hausas,Jukuns and others.Check there military sofistication then for the Benin ,Oyo,Kanem and Hausa kingdoms and you would marvel at the great difference in sofistication from the Igbos. The Nigerian Museums tell it all.visit some. They are filled with a heritagde of military prowress.from Nigerian empires.EMPIRE is the word not chiefdom or community.Today Yorubas stretch beyond boundaries into benin, while in the North the Kanuris stretch beyond into Niger, chad and the Fulanis stretch accross the entire west Africa.
About biafra i have read many tales and everyone wants his own heard. The ultimate thing for the writers to be heard. The fact on ground which matters, the war was lost by the Igbos. You had an option to use diplomacy, fight, defend or seek international and local support to make you defeat the treat. One you had before then being arrogant and decided to attack multiple ethinc nationalities in Nigeria thinking you are mightier. You have confronted britian by your leader Ojukwu, showing your distrust for them.If you had read a book about Ojukwu himself. The Others called upon Britian to help out is called the power of diplomacy/allies (choose the right friend) my enemies enemy is my friend.Even the Igbos imported foriegn mercenaries to fight.Alot of them were killed and some fled after it became obvious the battle would be lost.Do you know that today with the great power of diplomacy,Israel has won many battles in the midst of a supposedly bigger foe.The Arabs took russia and the Israelites took USA/Europe.russia crumbled and US remained.A tree does not make a forest. The igbos were forced to invent because they were tactically out manuvered and there exits blocked. which is also strategic. Why would i want a foe getting logistics. The foreign mercenaries hit the road when it became obvious they were being locked in along with the Igbos.
It is sad people died and Igbos lost more.Implication of defeat.People died on both sides and that is why it's called and remembered as Biafra war or civil war or Nigeria war etc Not genocide. You took up arms and invented weapons. You had foreign warriors to your rank and alot of other logistics/Army to carry out a war.Inshort the war i hear started in Nsukka with a treat by the Igbos to invade Benue first and some ND areas to creat buffer zones for the battles.Tricky one, fight and destroy another mans land. They Just never knew what was coming.
I attended a class on igbology and igbos may have had there achievements but historical it is less advanced than the other empires that existed in Nigeria before the whiteman  and during the white man.Igbo spread is economically presently and like my igbo lecturer would say they are industrous and adopt western cultures readily.which has greatly made them move today faster in terms of development compared to the others especially the north who still clinge to there past glory.

That apart its sad but true that we have the ability to all go genocidal and we are seriously encouraging it.What people lack now is the first blow and the reasons for the first blow in other to set us in that direction.Example MEND kills Sultan or emir of kano or Buhari and on the other hand say boko haram kills Goodluck or some respectable key chief or king somewhere or CAN president etc.Alot more is on the burner. So @op i say yes it can happen in Nigeria.Yes it is preventable if the idiots suggesting which tribes be eliminated first are found and hanged publicly. Some already have rared there ugly demonic heads and post here!!!!!

Benins and Itsekiris warn against ceding their land to the Ijaws

The Benin monarch, Oba Erediauwa has warned that no part of Benin kingdom will be ceded to the Ijaws living in Edo State or any other part of the country, just as the Itsekiri in Edo and Delta states have appealed to governors Emmanuel Uduaghan and Adams Oshiomhole to intervene in moves by the Ijaws to create Toru-Ibe State out of their lands.

This appeal was made yesterday when governors Adams Oshiomhole and Emmanuel Uduaghan led some Itsekiri chiefs to pay a courtesy call on the Benin monarch.

Oba Erediauwa who spoke through the prime minister of the Benin Kingdom, Sam Igbe, warned the federal government not to cede any part of his kingdom to the Ijaw for the purpose of creating a new state.

Erediauwa asked Governor Uduaghan to intervene in the matter, saying that the Benins have been living on their land even before the birth of Jesus Christ.

"We have forwarded our request to Abuja through out representative at the National Assembly. It has reached a stage where you will intervene. The two states (Edo and Delta) are yours. I don't think you will sit back and allow your state to be taken away without any reason. What we are against is taking somebody's land and gave it to another person. We don't have boundary with those who want to take our land."

He further recalled how the matter was reported to late military ruler, Sani Abacha and said it was wrong for the Ijaws to claim every part of the coastal region in Nigeria.

Speaking earlier, frontline politician, Joseph Ayomike said the demand for Toru-Ibe State was a threat to their homeland saying "We must no allow a repeat of colonialism."

He said that Nigeria is a country that has homelands adding, "It is strange that some group will come forward to claim Benin homeland, Itsekiri homeland. This will not be possible."

Delta State Governor, Uduanghan, in his response, said what concerns him as a governor are the security issues surrounding the creation of states. He thanked the Benin Oba for his prayers and support.

^Not shocking at all just confusing.I am a northern minority because am also not fulani/hausa.But when I am represented as a xtian,I simply see it a northern xtian agenda.not northern minority!simply they lie.hiding always as northern minorities but sending suggestions as xtians purely.they most learn to distinguish words.Northern xtians may sound approriate for them. They must desist from using such all encompassing terms, except where they true mean uniformity.the irony of this is look closely and you would see that they consist largly or wholy of the xtian folks yet they claim a region or zone neglecting the others.sooner or later it would evolve into another bias same as the hausa\fulani tribal difference.only in this case xtian muslim multi ethnic rivalry.Nigeria must be fixed as a whole.this methods simply add to division and nothing else.we must sit and discuss or split peacefully.

A top political meeting began today in one of the South-West geo-political zone’s state between leaders of Northern Nigerian minorities and as well influential elite of Southern Nigeria, comprising South-South, South-East and the host South-West.

The meeting reliable sources said is geared towards cementing political deal between the Northern minorities who are mainly Christians, and the rest of Southern Nigeria who have no religious extremism ahead of 2015 general elections.alt

The meeting according to sources also involves senior Christian leaders, women and youth leaders and representatives of traditional rulers from the largely Middle Belt Zone who have consented and threw their weight behind thealt synergy.

Highlight of today’s deliberation was appreciation and commendations led by one of the Action Congress of Nigeria’s governors, and other elite to the Northern minority Christians who ensured that a presidential candidate perceived to be a religious presidential candidate was vehemently rejected for the rest of the candidates comprising, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, Goodluck Jonathan and Malam Ibrahim Shekarau.

The meeting also discussed the Hausa-Fulani’s midnight killings in Jos, Plateau State and their recent penetration to Southern Kaduna where serial killings are going with no concrete security to overcome the lingering raiding.

It also decried the situation unravel in Bauchi State two weeks ago, where Police discover terrorists training camp in Toro local government area.

According to report the leader of the camp was in the process of recruiting another 35 people for training before the camp was invaded by the Police.

The suspects arrested were undergoing training at the camp, and Police recovered five camouflage military uniforms, 70 rounds of 7.62mm AK47 live ammunition, 44 rounds of live cartridges, four pump action guns, one military jungle hat, four machetes in bayonet-like form, and a box containing assorted charms.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba, had said “Since my posting, this is the first time I am seeing such. They have refused to name their sponsors, but investigations will unravel those behind the camp.”The Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Barau, said the suspects would be taken to Dikwa in Kaduna state for further investigations because they confessed that they were supposed to go on a reprisal attack following the killings of some Fulani people in the area.

The PPRO gave their names as Buba Yayi, Sule Saleh, Lawalle Abdulkadir, Abdulkadir Saleh, Musa, Abubakar alias Musa duna, Alhaji Abubakar Mohammed (leader), Adamu Jagaba, Seidu Saleh, and Risku Usman

Barau said, “We arrested them in a village called Gumau in Toro. The first thing we did was to screen them based on the suspicion of conspiracy, unlawful possession of offensive weapons, firearms, live ammunition and pump action cartridges — all lethal weapons.

“As investigation progressed, it became obvious that they were no mere criminals, but terrorists. The fact became obvious when from the confessional statement of three of them, they said that they were recruited by one Alhaji Abubakar Mohammed, who is their leader.

He quartered them and they have commenced training in the use of fire arms and tactful defence.

“They were to be trained in weapon handling. It was obvious from their statement that after the training, their mission would be to avenge the death of their Fulani brothers and sisters that lost their lives in Kaduna riots. To be more specific, they were planning an attack on Zankwa community in Zangon Kataf  in Southern Kaduna.”

Barau said five of the suspects were arrested around 7am on September 15, after an attack on the village of Fuska Mata in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State. Fuska Matta is a border village between Jos and Toro in Bauchi.

He added, “More importantly the group is being investigated for their possible involvement in the attack on the village of Fuska Matta which was attacked by Fulani on September 9 at 9pm. It was these five that took us to the house where the remaining five were arrested.”

He said that the suspects were being trained with one AK47 rifle and one pump action.

The CP added that the police would not leave any stone unturned in a bid to unmask the sponsors of the group but that his greatest headache was the internally-displaced persons who migrated from Maiduguri and Jos to Bauchi.

He said, “Most of them are not employable. However, our 24-hour patrol is on and we are making efforts to contain these hoodlums.”

http://www.naijapundit.com/news/northern-minorities-to-southern-leaders-liberate-us-from-hausa-fulani-oppression
using the term Liberate you from the hausa/fulani and minority only confuses one.Is it true that all northern minorities are xtians? Is it true that all Hausa/Fulanis are Muslims? Is it also true that within the Northern minorities exist a substantial Muslims population?  huh huh huh huh undecided undecided undecided undecided
Anyway let it keep coming. It is typical approach towards division o!If a training camp ignited this then the media has achieved its goals of bias reporting. The xtian Militia in Plateau you think they don't have training camps too.Since the crisis in 2001 they had being trained to largely use fire arms in the conflict eg places like langtang that i know well. undecided undecided undecided undecided undecided undecided undecided
Apart from that personally we wish everyone well o!funny enough the meeting is gear towards meeting one political party ACN!Does ACN represent SS,SE & SW?The same ACN that allied more with all people from the North.Would they then tell the hausa/fulani in there fold to quit? While the cry boko haram extremist agenda,it is from a minority tribe in the north east. The kanuri! Are they Hausa/fulani too?Okay they are muslims. Are all peoples from plateau Muslims? No,try checking Wase(emirate),yelwa-Shendam, gindiri-mangu, Kanam(emirate), Bassa and Jos North(where the national mosque Abuja-Imam hails from). So then how do you define Minorities and in what context?Considering that the representatives were of the xtian flock only and project the minorities as xtians only from my understanding of the report!  huh huh huh huh huh huh
While they are at it they should be sure to check who attended, because they could be another bunch of people seeking relevance because they have non where they come from. The media is really trying hard to divide the nation by suggesting and reporting issues that are so irrelevant to national cohesion.
Which ever way it goes i continue to laugh.I also know it is not possible to sweep the land of origin from me.Who they maybe have the right to trade what rightfully belongs to them. But know where there borders lie.

US court convicts Nigerian pastor for cheating dying cancer patients

A Nigerian-born doctor and ordained pastor, Rev. Christine Daniel, who has been convicted by a US court for peddling snake oil treatment to dying cancer patients, mail and wire fraud, tax evasion and witness tampering, faces up to 150 years imprisonment when her sentence is pronounced in December.

For years, the Nigerian pastor preached the love of Jesus. Practiced medicine for the poor. And promised a sure-cure for terminal cancer patients.

But Rev. Christine Daniel, the founder of Sonrise Medical Clinic in Mission Hills, was a fraud. She was convicted by a federal jury this week of peddling snake oil treatments to dying patients across the nation.

“This is the most egregious fraud case I’ve seen,” said Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph O. Johns, prosecutor in the case. “The defendant used her victims’ religion to blind them to logic, to overcome their common sense. And to spend tens of thousands of dollars on a bogus cancer cure.”

Daniel, 57, of Northridge, was found guilty on Monday in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles of 11 counts of mail and wire fraud, tax evasion and witness tampering.

Her sentence will be pronounced December 5 and she faces up to 150 years in prison and a fine of $5.5 million.

Her trial, which began in March, included the tear-filled testimony of dozens of relatives of terminal patients who had died while taking Daniel’s product.

“In addition to giving them false hope and stealing their money, she also stole their time,” said Johns, chief of the environmental crimes section.

She also failed to report $1.3 million on her corporate tax returns from 2002 to 2004.

Daniel is an ordained Pentecostal minister who got her medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia.

For decades she ran medical clinics for the poor, in the San Fernando Valley and downtown, and worked in hospital emergency rooms.

She was also devoted to regular missions overseas.

“If I can just help somebody - one person,” she told the Daily News in 1995. “I just want to make an impact on one person’s life. Just show them love. Just let them know you care.”

A receptionist at her Sunrise clinic on Tuesday said she was too busy with patients to come to the phone. She did not return a request for comment.

Prosecutors said Daniel had used her status as a minister to create trust within the evangelical Christian community.

At her clinic and via the Trinity Broadcasting Network, Daniel promised cures for illnesses from Alzheimer’s disease to terminal cancer.

Her secret: remedies like “C-Extract” created from herbs gathered around the world, then blended for each individual patient.

But a chemical analysis by prosecutors found such ingredients as beef extract flavoring and sunscreen preservative, none of which could cure disease.

The cost of such nostrums ranged from $4,270 a week to between $120,000 and $150,000 for a six-month treatment, prosecutors said.

“They were encouraged to fly to Mission Hills. Stay in a flea-ridden motel. And spend the last few months of their lives drinking a foul concoction , that tasted like sewage water,” Johns said.

Daniel and her employees induced 55 victims to send roughly $1 million to the Sonrise clinic, most of whom died within three to six months after the bogus cure.

One of them was 33-year-old Paula Middlebrooks, a married mother of two from Smiths, Ala.

Diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, she contacted the Sunrise clinic after her dentist told her his wife had taken the cure - and would soon come home cancer free.

After visiting the clinic, Daniel told the devout Baptist that chemotherapy wouldn’t help.

The doctor said she’d need her herbal treatment to shrink the tumors and kill her cancer cells.

Family members said they had bake sales, yard sales and sold everything they had to pay up to $100,000 for bogus treatments. Middlebrooks’ sister, Tammie Fleming, even quit her job to work in Chatsworth to be with Paula.

For nearly six months, Middlebrooks drank the herbal treatments daily while joining Daniel for Sunday services.

“It literally looked like mud,” said Fleming, 45, of Raeford, N.C., of Daniel’s herbal brew. “It was horrible. We were told it would work, that my sister would be cancer-free.”

While in church one day, she complained to the physician-minister of intense and enduring pain.

“She said, `The pain is all in your head,”’ Fleming recalled, adding that each patient was told to pay up at the clinic each Monday, or be turned down for further treatments.

In 2002, Daniel pronounced Paula Middlebrooks cancer free at a party held for clinic patients. By then, the cancer had in fact spread from her breasts to her bones and brain.

“She brainwashed them. She brainwashed us all,” Fleming said. “She sent my sister home cancer free on March 15, 2002. On April 10, Paula passed away.”

Another of her victims, Margaret Antwi, who traveled from Africa, was diagnosed with melanoma in 2003. Her daughter, Christiana Kwakye, was channel surfing one night after spending hours by her mother’s hospital bed when she came across a testimonial about Daniel’s treatment.

Kwakye, 41, of Minneapolis, cobbled together money with her four siblings and paid about $3,500 for a shipment sent from Daniel’s offices. Antwi drank the brown liquid and soon after Kwakye called a number and prayed with a woman on the other line.

“At that stage you do anything,” Kwakye said, trying to explain why they entrusted Daniel. “I should have known better. My mental state wasn’t clear at that time.”

Antwi’s family bought another round of medicine that cost about $5,000 after Daniel bumped them up to a higher concentration that would be more effective. Antwi died a couple of weeks later at age 62. She had been hopeful Daniel’s treatment would work as promised, Kwakye said.

“I struggle with the fact that she (Daniel) wasn’t true,” she said. “Being a doctor, they do no harm. Why would she do that?”

Other patients traveled to California and stayed at local motels while they were being treated, court documents show.

Prosecutors said Daniel even fleeced other clergy. In late 2003, George McKinney, who founded St. Stephen’s Cathedral Church of God in Christ in San Diego, agreed to have his wife, Jean, treated by Daniel. The couple moved into their son’s home in Los Angeles, and Jean McKinney took an herbal mixture three to four times a day for her terminal colon cancer.

Daniel also used a heat machine that was supposed to reduce the tumour, authorities said. The couple paid Daniel more than $100,000. Jean McKinney died in June 2004.

Boko Haram top commander, 5 others arrested
On September 29, 2011 · In Headlines

BY OKEY NDIRIBE & ALBERT AKPOR, with agency reports
MAIDUGURI: Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima said yesterday, that a top commander of the deadly sect, Boko Haram has been arrested alongside five other members. With the arrest, a relieved Governor Shettima who confirmed it to the Associated Press said, “I believe the worst is over”.

Governor Shettima told The Associated Press in an interview at his heavily guarded office that officials believe a negotiated peace can be reached with the sect now. He, however, warned that members of the group who still continue sectarian campaign of assassinations and bombings will be hunted down by the increasing military and police presence in Borno state.

“I believe the worst is over,” Shettima said, adding that five others were also arrested and are being detained. The governor did not however disclose the name of the arrested commander and his foot soldiers.

The heavy presence of the military on the streets of Maiduguri, according to Governor Shettima has reduced violence in the city, adding that intelligence gathering by military and the police led to the arrest of the man responsible for planning and orchestrating attacks around the city.

“Five others also were arrested and are being held by military and the police”, he said.

Boko Haram maintains a loose command-and-control structure, allowing different groups to operate autonomously of each other, Shettima said, noting that “they operate in some sort of cells, some sort of units that interlinked, but generally they take directive from one commander.”

The Federal Government Committee on Boko Haram which submitted its report last Monday had recommended among others a dialogue between the government and the sect while the Sultan of Sokoto would represent the group at the talks. The committee claimed to have reached out to the sect and that its members were ready for talks with government.

The sect in its reaction the following day, however, distanced itself from the report saying its members were not ready for dialogue. Spokesman for the sect, Abu Qaqa in a telephone interview with newsmen said the group did not have any input in the report and denied that it was ready with peace talks with government. He vowed that the group will continue its attacks until its demands were met.

He added that the group was not satisfied with membership of the committee noting that those who advised the government to involve the Sultan of Sokoto did so without consulting the sect. The demands of the sect according to him included “severe punishment for those who killed their leader, Mohammed Yusuf and other members of the sect in the July 2009 revolt.” He said the group had also demanded that its places of worship which were destroyed in Maiduguri and other states in the country by security agents must be rebuilt as well as the release of all its members who were being detained while adequate compensation must be made for the loss of their property.

Restrict and search vehicles into police formations, IGP tells officers

Following a fresh threat by the Boko Haram sect to attack some selected targets across the country especially Abuja, the Inspector-General of Police IGP Hafiz Ringim has directed that the number of vehicles allowed into police stations and other formations should be greatly curtailed irrespective of the status of the occupant(s).

The directive also ordered that such vehicle(s) should be vigorously searched even if they carry federal government, Police, military number or any of the security agency’s number plates. Sources said the signal which was directed to all the Assistant Inspectors-General (AIGs) and copied Commissioners of police (CPs) across the country, reads in part: “Henceforth, you are directed to ensure that vehicular movements in and out of all police formations are greatly monitored and curtailed.

It is directed also that you ensure the meticulous screening of such vehicles irrespective of the personality of their occupants before they are allowed into your respective stations. Vehicles with Police plate numbers, federal government numbers, military and para-military numbers are not exempted. Their occupants are also not exempted, please.”

Already, police formations in Lagos state have started implementing the directive which sources said was received Monday. At the state police command, Ikeja, vehicles which hitherto clustered in the premises have been dislodged while those attempting to enter were restricted and subjected to serious screening. Other formations, including the SCID Panti Yaba, SCID, Zone 2, Festac town Divisional headquarters, Apapa visited have commenced enforcement of the order.

We ignored security reports to visit Nigeria – Canadian labour leader

Meanwhile a Canadian Labour leader currently visiting the country has said his country’s labour delegation insisted on making its trip to Nigeria despite negative security reports in order to debunk the impression terrorists wanted to convey about the country.

The Secretary General of Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) Mr Hassan Yusuf said this yesterday while responding to reporters’ questions during a press briefing jointly addressed in Abuja by the Canadian Labour delegation and the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
