This is a welcome development.I had being to there online site a couple of times to see there vehicles. Its impressive and i here some commuter companies and churches are already patronizing them. cool cool cool cool cool
That aside i think there should be more room for them to evolve to a reputable automobile company. The same way TATA started from a humble beginning.Atleast TATA got the Indian government to be a major client until they got off fully. Now they compete with the rest globally.
I remember some guys from Ekiti developing an APC(Amoured personal carrier) during the Yar'adua Government. They were asked to work in conjunction with the military.Innoson can cash in on this guys especially since security concerns got a boast and the government and banks wouldn't mind such.If Nigeria was a serious country they could help the companies evolve faster.Simply by specifying to them what they need as official government cars, patrol cars and other security vehicles. shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked
That way the billions spent on foreign countries bringing such could be minimize and our local products boasted.Even if they don't meet foreign standard, challenge them with a specification that meets your desired targets. After all you are a client.Your experts help them reach such goals.
Government should have long made it policy to patronize only cars built partially or wholly in Nigeria. So that we could keep them afloat.I don't see why we buy Honda and Toyota.Since they have refused to be Nigerian.Atleast close the doors on car import by government and give a duration of say 10Years.after which you open them again. cool cool cool cool
Business › Re: No Need For Apprehension Over Islamic Bank- Soyinka by hakanai(m): 3:43pm On Aug 23, 2011
Ddaji:
NOBEL Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, has condemned the apprehension that greeted the proposed Islamic banking by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Mallam Lamido Sanusi.

Delivering the keynote address at the ongoing Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) conference in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Monday, Soyinka said the structural woes facing the country did not generate from any mode of banking, suggesting rather that the nation needed to unite to move forward.

This was preceded by the upbraiding of the NBA by the Rivers State governor, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, who delivered the opening address.

In his address, Soyinka said it was not the Islamic banking system that was responsible for the breakdown of social infrastructure such as education, health, power supply, among others, in the country.

He said any Nigerian had the right to apply for any system of banking, as much as such process conformed with the laid down laws of the nation, expressing surprise as to how the non-interest Islamic banking had contravened the law of the land.

He said non-interest banking, which exists in other countries like the United Kingdom and the United States of America, did not, in anyway, lay the foundation for the global financial meltdown, the militancy crisis in the Niger Delta and the Boko Haram in some states of northern Nigeria.

He, however, said “we need to come together and engage the protocol of national conference and dialogue,” which, he said, was the surest way of moving the country forward.

In his address, Governor Amaechi advised the NBA to stand as the beacon of hope to the common man, noting that the rule of law would not be achieved if corruption subsisted.

Do you know that you can not just buy a truck load with out buying from multiple collection points.Secondly do you know the SE/SS traders have long time customers and are more or less conversant with the markets where they acquire the commodity. So are we saying we have SE & SS accomplice? Why is NAFDAC quiet? Are they in on it too?

^^^^^ Keep dreaming is he God!!!! They all float same ship and dine on the same table.Obasanjo is nothing without them and they are nothing without the likes of Obasanjo.Do you know that during the 2011 elections primaries if the Northern elite really wanted to stop the emergence of GEJ they could have. But no simply because they have reason to support him.The reason is best known to them. You and i hardly no crap about what they trade.Forget the dollars and money shared to push votes. You have the main players who select the likes of those people who they can willingly compromise.
The whole twist and magu magu is a PDP thing and that is even bigger than Obj.It includes the North, south elites and power players.religious and financial warriors.Party and business clique.Obj can be brought down same way he brought Anenih and Atiku down.I tell you he even can't force his candidate into the house of representatives.Could impose a candidate on his PDP fold to ensure a SW speaker.Don't forget that the NE was angry same way SW was.Again you ask yourself how stronge is he?
PDP is a fraternity and it has rules and no single person controls all.You have to please as much interest groups within to make head way. Please includes money, position and contract bids/ownership of public property. Then policy to support a cliques and its stooge.Obj is part of it and that is a bonafide fact.Atiku can't pull a string cos his mistake was dumping PDP and later coming back.I think Obj is battling to keep his seat as chairman BOT.Why abi he failed to play it well!!!

PDP Gave me N5,000 to Inflate Accredited Voters’ During Last Elections – INEC Polling Assistant
Published August 17, 2011 | By Independent Kwaran

An Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) polling assistant yesterday told the Kwara State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal that a former Secretary to the State Government (SSG) gave him N5,000 to inflate the number of accredited voters.

Adeniyi Razaq told the tribunal that he was a poll assistant at Unit 007 in Kuntu, Adewole Ward, Ilorin West, and an ad-hoc staff of INEC in the April 26 governorship poll.

He said different amounts of money were offered other INEC workers, according to their ranks, to favour the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election.

The witness said the PDP requested for the booklets of ballot papers to be made available to it.

Razak, who said he was working for an Osogbo-based non-governmental organisation (NGO) added: “A few days before the presidential elections on April 15, the presiding officer for my polling unit, one Kola, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, asked me to go to Agbo Oba, where the NYSC lodge is located, for a meeting. When we got there, we saw a lot of PDP-branded vehicles inside and outside the lodge. When we got into the lodge, the party’s agent, a light skinned lady whose name we were not told but was widely called Alhaja Iya Alate, informed us as follows:

•‘That the PDP required all of us (electoral officers) to inflate the number of accredited voters in our respective polling units;

•‘That we should make ballot papers available to them;

•‘That we should not be concerned about how they would thumb-print the ballot papers and get them into the ballot boxes;

•‘That they would take care of that; and

•‘That for the services they were prepared to pay us handsomely.’

“At the meeting, the former Ilorin West Local Government chairman and one other person I don’t know gave N20,000 to each INEC Presiding Officer with an instruction that it be shared as follows:

•N10,000.00 each to presiding officers; and

•N5,000 each to polling clerks (every unit has two polling clerks).

“There was no provision for polling assistants.

“The poll assistants present were not happy that there was no provision for them and they began to protest. I led the poll assistants’ protest. Thereupon, the lady called me and explained that the payment was for work done for the PDP during the National Assembly elections a week earlier. She told me that they would invite me later for further discussion.

“I was invited by the same Alhaja Iya Alate on April 25, a day before the governorship election, to Gaa Aremu in Adewole Ward area of Ilorin West Local Government. The place turned out to be the family home of the ex-SSG as I saw a big photograph of the man dressed in his Senior Advocate’s ceremonial robes and his name was written boldly under the picture. The Alhaji was at this place with Alhaja Iya Alate. I was given N5,000 by Alhaji and I was told that further directives would be given to me later for the next day’s election by Alhaja.

“Thereafter, I was escorted out of the house by Alhaja. As we were walking away from the house, she told me that she would call me later that evening. And she did. When she called, she said we, INEC officials, at our polling units needed to inflate the number of accredited voters and if we did this, we would be paid N11,000.00.

“Also, she said we would receive N100,000 for providing the PDP with a booklet of ballot papers. She informed me that if we agreed to this, the money would be paid that night.

“On election day, on April 26, Alhaja came to meet me at my polling unit and asked if I had agreed to what she said. When I told her that I would not do it, she kept persuading me. But when she realised that I would not change my mind, she left…”

“I am aware that my own experience is not an isolated case as a lot of my colleagues agreed to the scheme, collected the money and did the PDP’s bidding, as I have said. I know for a fact that the polling officers for the following units collected N100,000 each and gave ballot paper booklets to the PDP. They are: Sakele Open Space Poll Unit 005 of Adewole Ward; Oke Agodi Open Space Unit 006 Adewole Ward; and Ojude Olode Kuta Kunte Unit 017 Adewole Ward; Gaa Aremu Open Space Unit 016 Adewole Ward; and Adeta LGEA School Unit 013.

“Subsequently, I discovered that through some of my colleagues and other people, that the Alhaji came from Adewole Ward and, being a senior person in the Kwara State Government, he wanted desperately to record a win in his ward and in my polling unit.

“I believe that what I have described above was very rampant in Ilorin West, judging by the discussions with my co-ad hoc INEC colleagues. In all likelihood, it took place in other places in Kwara State. It has also been reported in the Tuesday, April 26 -May 2 edition of the Premier newspaper on pages 1, 26 and 27.”

Anyway RIP and may God give his family the fortitude to bare the lost.Really sad.
Politics › Kebbu Central:Tribunal Nullifies Pdp Victory- Declares Aliero of CPC Winner! by hakanai(op): 5:25pm On Aug 17, 2011
The National and State Elections Petition Tribunal sitting in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State Tuesday, nullified the election of the Senator representing Kebbi Central senatorial district, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, and declared former governor of the state, Senator Adamu Aliero, as the winner of the election.

The tribunal also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw the Certificate of Return from Bagudu and issue it to Aliero as the lawful winner of the election.
Aliero was former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Alero Edodo Eruaga, along with Justice Muhammad Inuwa Ali, and Justice Adedotun Grace Onibokun, in their 19-page ruling, said the application brought by Bagudu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and INEC for the tribunal to set aside the July 30 invocation of paragraph 18(11) lacked merit.

Before Tuesday’s ruling, the tribunal had on July 30, this year, invoked paragraph 18(11) of the Electoral Act on Bagudu, PDP and INEC for their failure to produce the report of their inspection of polling materials before the tribunal whereas Aliero and the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) complied.According to him, the argument of the respondents as regards the issue on report of inspection material had been contradicted, thereby compelling the tribunal to dismiss it.

“Election petitions are distinct from the ordinary civil proceedings. It is such that in certain circumstances that slightest default in complying with a procedural step which otherwise could either be cured or waived in ordinary civil proceedings could result in fatal consequences to the parties, these averment were neither contradicted and/or controverted nor was there an opposition to the written addresses.

“It is trite that were depositions in a counter affidavit are not specifically denied by way of a further affidavit in support of an application such evidence or deposition in the counter affidavit will be deemed as the truth of the matter and the court can act on it,” he said.

“That a lack of reaction contrarily to the submission of counsel is deemed to be a concession to the point of being made. Based on the above principles of law we hereby affirmed our judgment of July 30, this year, and order the 3rd respondent to withdraw the certificate of return issued to the 1st respondent, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and issue a Certificate of Return to the 1st petitioner, Senator Muhammad Adamu Aliero of the congress for progressive change as the lawful person to represent Kebbi Central Senatorial District of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Eruaga averred.

The judge reminded the parties that the jurisdiction of an Election Tribunal to deal with election petition was a very special nature different from that of an ordinary civil case, adding that: “It is plain that the proceedings are special for which special provisions are made under the constitution.”

Adamu Aliero

The Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Birnin-Kebbi, Kebbi State, has nullified the election of Senator Atiku Bagudu of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) and declared former Federal Capital Territory (FCT ) Minister, Sen. Mohammed Adamu Aliero as the lawful person to represent Kebbi Senatorial District at the National Assembly.

Delivering its ruling on the motions on notice praying the tribunal to issue an order that would set aside its earlier judgement, the chairman of the tribunal, Justice Alero Edodo-Eruaga, declared that the tribunal had no reason to depart from the earlier position and dismissed it outright.

She explained that on July 30, the tribunal had entered a judgement against Sen. Bagudu, PDP and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for disobeying the a pre-hearing order for failing to participate in good faith pursuant to paragraph 18 (11) of the Electoral Act.

Justice Edod-Eruaga noted that Sen. Bagudu, was the principal party in the defence who stood to lose if the earlier judgement remained, yet he and his legal team did not see the need to put facts forward.

Yes, of course. GEJ is human and he does get a couple of things wrong like each and every one of us.

The reason a few folk hate GEJ so desperately, has nothing to do with the odd mistake, though. Anyone can see through that.
Unfortunately, for a lot of people GEJ is not of the same religion as them, neither is he from their section of the country, so they wake up everyday in blind, raging hatred, cursing GEJ for stealing their birthright (God alone knows what that is). LOLZZ!

I have asked al ot of you to make cogent arguments about what you hate so much that in observer would think some are crazy, but nobody has come up with anything. Not even something that is semi-literate. Why?
There is a primitive instinct in many Nigerians to shout, throw stones and fight; they think its makes them stand out. It sure does, but for all the wrong reasons; the same reasons an alpha male goat or pig would stand out in the zoo. Educated people who would be our leaders tomorrow have no business carrying on like agbero's and sundry base creatures.
