Job Description

We are looking for an Accountant to manage all financial transactions, from fixed payments and variable expenses to bank deposits and budgets.
Accountant responsibilities include auditing financial documents and procedures, reconciling bank statements and calculating tax payments and returns. To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience with bookkeeping and a flair for spotting numerical mistakes.
Ultimately, you will provide us with accurate quantitative information on financial position, liquidity and cash flows of our business, while ensuring we’re compliant with all tax regulations.
Responsibilities

Manage all accounting transactions.
Prepare budget forecasts.
Publish financial statements in time.
Handle monthly, quarterly and annual closings.
Reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
Ensure timely bank payments.
Compute taxes and prepare tax returns.
Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements.
Report on the company’s financial health and liquidity.
Audit financial transactions and documents.
Reinforce financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups when necessary.
Comply with financial policies and regulations.
Requirements and Skills

B.Sc in Accounting, Finance or relevant Degree.
Minimum of 2 years work experience.
Additional certification (CPA or CMA) is a plus.
Work experience as an Accountant.
Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Hands-on experience with accounting software like FreshBooks and QuickBooks.
Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables.
Experience with general ledger functions.
Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills.
Salary
N250,000 - N300,000 monthly.

Reconciliation of Bank Statement with Payment Voucher, purchase and sales ledgers.
Monthly stock Valuation, Stock taking, Stock reconciliation, Budget monitoring.
Preparation of Monthly Financial Statement and Inter-bank Accounts Reconciliation.
Maintain F&B cash balance records, reconciles cash receipts and disbursements to the general ledger
Participate in stock taking at the Farm
Maintain the security of the information held by the department.
Monitoring and ensuring tax compliance (VAT and others)
Qualification

BSc in Accounting
Minimum of 3 years relevant experience
Must be computer literate. With commendable use of Standard Office Applications, Microsoft Operating System especially excel, and Accounting Applications such as NAV, SAGE:-Peachtree, Quick book, Daceasy etc.)
Age: 25 and above
Must be a Female

A young, well qualified Officer left his job in Lagos and emigrated to Canada for better prospects and applied for a salesman's job at Vancouver's premier downtown department store. It was the biggest store in the world; you could get anything there.

The boss asked him, "Have you ever been a salesman before?"

"Yes sir, I was a salesman in Nigeria."

The boss liked him and said, "You can start tomorrow. Learn fast and do well."

The first working day was long and arduous for the young man, but he got through it.

Finally 06:00pm came around. The boss duly fronted up and asked,

"How many sales did you make today?"

"Sir, I made ONE sale!" said the young salesman rather happily.

"Only one sale?!" shot back the boss. "No! No! You see, most of my staff make 20 or 30 sales a day.
If you want to keep this job, you'd better be doing better than just one sale.

By the way, how much was your sale worth?"

"$933,005.00", said the man.

"What? How did you manage that?" asked the flabbergasted boss.

"Well," said the salesman, "This man came in and I sold him a small fish hook, then a medium hook and finally a really large hook.

Then I sold him a good fishing rod and some fishing gear.

Then I asked him where he was going fishing and he said down the coast.

So I told him he'd be needing a boat, so I took him down to the boat department and sold him that 20-foot schooner with the twin engines.

Then he said his Volkswagen wouldn't be able to carry it, so I took him to our automotive department and sold him that new Deluxe 4X4 Blazer.

I then asked him where he'll be staying and since he had not decided, I took him to camping department and sold him a six-sleeper camper tent.

Then he said I should throw in about $200 worth of groceries and two cases of juice."

The boss took two steps back and asked in astonishment, "You sold all that to a guy who came in for a fish hook?!"

"No, sir," answered the young man, "he came in to buy sanitary napkins for his wife and I convinced him that since he will be bored with his wife being in period - fishing is the best remedy for boredom."

Boss: "Where did you acquire this professional training?!"

I met a girl on Nairaland a few months ago we started dating, while we were during she was jobless. She has been jobless for like 2 years , I came along supported her with her résumé, interview tips and forwarding job openings to her. Then I was working and calling her 24/7 making sure she is alright. The tables turned, I was in her position while she was in mine.

NLers, calling me became a serious task, I let out an out burst after enduring for 2 months and told her she used me to get what she wanted but she claims I don't know she hold me in high esteem and can never forget me ( this was a girl that I did a lot for). In fact she currently know what am going through explained everything to her but the best I got so far was a thousand naira. Calling me to know how am doing is an difficult thing- she claim its work.

Recently met another one on NL, this one does not work but calls and communicate with me regularly. Unlike the first girl.
Now, I like the first one but am fast losing the love for her.

Many on NL are of the opinion that, its when you have nothing you will know the girl that loves you. Does this hold true with the above?
