Absolutely agree. Loyalty is invaluable, so it should be very much appreciated and preserved. Though, I must confessed there is no such thing as absolute loyalty in a workplace. Employees are only loyal to their gains/benefits from being employed in that particular place.

Iremide got an Offer with xxxxx Organisation, she was scheduled to come for her documentation and sign the offer letter on Tuesday. With so much excitement Iremide told everyone she has gotten a new job and is getting ready for her new place of work. It's Tuesday, the HR called Ire to remind her of her appointment,with joy she told the HR she is preparing and would be with them shortly.

The receptionist called the HR dept that they had a guest, the HR came down and did not recognize who was waiting, she asked the receptionist where is the guest, the receptionist pointed to a lady in a black transparent dress with visible cleavages and pink tinted hair. The HR spoke in surprise as she said oh Ire, you look very unrecognised, different from the day you came for interview (Ire was wearing a suit and a wig hence none of this was seen).

The HR went back to her office more confused wondering why did Iremide dress like that to pick up her offer letter when they are not in an entertainment industry, she called the reception to get Iremide account details, some money was sent to her and she was asked to go home that the HR will contact her soon.

Three days later Iremide got a mail that her offer letter had been withdrawn on the basis that her values does not align with that of the organisation.

Iremide is threatening to sue them and saying what does her dressing got to do with the Job.

What would you advice both parties to do in such a situation, or if you are either party what will be your next line of action.

Dear Christian employer/boss,

The biggest show of our Christianity is not the morning devotions we have at our offices before the start of work. It is not the fasting and prayers we prescribe for our employees. The biggest show of our Christianity is

1. Treating our employees with fairness and respect.

2. Paying our employees promptly and fairly as per the contract terms. Some employers are so quick to sacrifice their employees' salaries during hard times but you will see these same employers donating huge sums of money at church. Some employees are owed 2 to 4 months salary while the employer lives lavishly.

3. Paying our employees' pension contribution without cutting corners. There are many employers who do not pay pensions for their staff ( something which is required by law), but profess to be Christians.

To the Christian employee,

1. Backbiting, sabotaging your colleagues and plotting evil against them is not Christlike behavior.

2. There's a lot of talk about toxic work environments lately but I'm 100% sure there are many Christians in these workplaces. So I ask, where is the Christian in us?

I know some bosses who are/ were atheists but treated their employees better than some Christians. If we all brighten our corners and put our faith into action, our workplaces would be a true reflection of Christ!.

Chioma, a rising star in the world of marketing, faced an all too familiar challenge in the workplace - a toxic culture dominated by the Head of Operations, the cousin of the MD.

Despite her best efforts to bring attention to the mistreatment, the MD consistently took the side of her cousin, leaving Chioma feeling unheard and unsupported. Hence the Cousin rules and does as she likes irrespective of how you feel.

Though Chioma refused to be broken, she had to resign due to a terrible gang-up and an extremely toxic culture. Despite resigning with no new job in sight and enduring a hellish notice period filled with lies spread against her, Chioma stood strong and did what was right for her mental and emotional well-being.

Prior to her resignation, there was a huge project managed by Chioma, she sought guidance from her colleagues and the MD's cousin but they all have negative feedback and never assisted; the cliche was "leave make e spoil for her hand". However, Chioma managed to get her mentor's (external) advice on how to carry out the project and the project turned out a huge success, guess who got accolades for the project, the MD's cousin, and her colleagues (who refused to assist).

During her notice period, the MD hired a new Marketing Manager and they fed him with all sorts of lies against Chioma (But he was sensible at least to watch and see she was an entirely different person from the narrative).

Now their toxicity caught off with the New Marketing Manager, they frustrated his efforts, he finally reached out to Chioma for advice, she did the best she could but never said anything negative to him. Just four months down the line he was fired without notice or Payment in lieu. He sadly informed Choima of his ordeal "in the hands of these terrible people".

Recently, they got another Marketing Manager and he reached out to Chioma on LinkedIn to "know what the culture is and what tips Chioma could offer to him to succeed in the role"..... and posted it on Niaraland

Chioma feels this organization is in her past and does not want to have anything to do with anyone or advice, The new employee has sent Chioma a message three times to seek advice, and all Chioma said was just do your best.

Should Chioma truly open up to this person or allow the new staff finds out things for herself?
