king cobra: AN ODE TO MY LITERARY HERO...... PROF. CHINUA ACHEBE. All copyright reserved.

THERE WAS A COUNTRY and in that country, there was A MAN OF THE PEOPLE. In the early hours of the 22nd of March, 2013, THE ARROW OF GOD pointed at him. If I had the least premonition that this would happen, I would have cried out to God, DON'T LET HIM DIE! Alas, THINGS FALL APART and the center cannot hold. We are NO LONGER AT EASE. Imagine that the great Achebe who has planned his CHRISTMAS IN BIAFRA this year is gone, just like that. THE TROUBLE WITH NIGERIA has gone viral. We only celebrate our heroes when they have gone. This is affecting both those at HOME AND EXILE. Even GIRLS ARE AT WAR too.
Even as we mourn this dead Lion, BEWARE SOUL BROTHER before the VULTURES come for you too. THE ANTHILLS OF THE SAVANNAH await the remains of one of the greatest legend of my days for man is but sand and must return to the ground.

Great write up, kudos. you captured all his write - ups, i guess. i have seen and read nearly all. Again, weldone

Bring the FLUTE, bring the DRUM! IT'S MORNING YET ON CREATION DAY. Let's announce the departure of this great man as he treads the DEAD MEN PATH. A legend is gone and so have all his HOPES AND IMPEDIMENTS. As we mourn, let there be CIVIL PEACE.

RIP, PROF..... God willing

agog: May God grant this icon an eternal repose. I love his "Things Fall Apart - the centre cannot hold and the falcon cannot hear the falconer" quotation so much.
We shouldn't turn his death into an ethnic frenzy as observed in the initial trend, but let us all as One Nigeria reflect on what has befallen us as a nation. This is a time of solemn reflection for us all.
May Almighty God make Nigeria great and may He touch the hearts of our leaders to live exemplary life of service to mankind like the late professor.
When beggars die there are no comets seen, but the heavens themselves blazes forth the death of princes.....So let it be with Achebe.....adapted by Hardbody from Skakespeare's 'Julius Caesar'

Guy, sorry i had been overwhelmed with stuff. Yes, the guy that brought it opened it, inserted my sim card, and we played around with it for a relatively long time. He was willing to stay back and demonstrate more but i was called out of a meeting to attend to him, so i was really in a hurry for him to leave so i can go back to my meeting. Besides, the phone has a 356days platinum warranty card.

As i said, i just took delivery this afternoon and havent had the time to review the functions of the phone. However, with a 356 days warranty, i am covered long enough to find out what the issues are with the phone and to exercise my rights under the warranty.

djeezy: Having a rival to the point of thinking you'll loose your partner can be so disconcerting and can put you in an apprehension of fear especially when you love the person. So my question is this, how do you deal with a relationship rival whether or not it poses a threat to you? Mature responses pls, this thread may be useful to many people here, no knowledge is a waste, even the bad ones.lol
I recommend you read the first few chapters of 48 Laws of Power and see how the power of negative seduction draws the object of your emotion closer to you and farther away from your competitor. It has always worked for me except i am not really interested.

@ post....I just drink, it neither adds nor removes anything from my person. On weekdays I chill out and nurse a beer or two while waiting for traffic to thin out, on other occasions, I just drink socially. Each man unto his own, judge not. People have been known to die whether or not they ever drank or sipped alcohol, or do you think all the people involved and affected by the Dana crash were all alcoholics? Besides, I do not believe that drinking alcohol should be used as a source of inspiration, that will be so stupidd and temporary.

dahmie2013: Hi everyone!

I've observed amongst my female friends, each time I tell them I'm not ready 4 marriage d first question they ask is, don't u have a "bobo" nii?

Its not that I'm that old, still in my early 20's but the thing amazes me. Another when I told her I just wanted my space, the next thing was "don't say it outside that you don't have a "bobo" & that got me thinking if it was a crime.

Sincerely, I love my life like this. I've had relationships in the past that didn't work out & I felt rather than go in 2 another I should just take a break.

It feels good to be independent & decide what happens in your life without considering any man. Though it seems selfish, but I already paid my dues in d past.
All of these in your early 20s?, my dear, i think you deserve a break. What happened to studies? Are you through with school? Anyways, to me, it helps to have male friends, perhaps unattached while you sort your life out. However, if all men and women had the same approach to relationship, how would we procreate and the world recreate itself, just asking.

THis is becoming very interesting or is it? A group of guys, once they run out of cash will claim they are/or were militants and because they were not documented, will start blasting off oil pipelines. THey are further degrading an already degraded and sick environment. If the government should continue this amnesty thing indefinitely, children yet unborn will grow up and claim amnesty under militancy, is that the way to go? is that the future they want for their place? Cant these guys think of something more meaningful or find better ways of pressing their claims, assuming they have any? I so love this country sha. Very soon we will hear of another blast up north, the BH cowards will be insisting on amnesty too. Whatever happened to OPC, Egbesu, MASSOB and the rest of them. Very soon we will become a country of 'amnesia' abi amnesty. SMH

Education › Re: Nigerian Boarding School Experiences by hardbody: 3:43pm On Mar 20, 2013
Boarding school was fun for me and i opted to go to the boarding house in my 5th year just because i wanted to have the experience and perhaps the freedom. I did not eat from the school cafetaria(or whatever they called it back then)because my uncle and grandma lived very close to the school (my dad and family were in some other town )and i was always going to 'steal' grandma's money. ( i think she had glaucoma then)and i will come back to school to buy all those sweet mama put. I even used to give food to other students. I usually cleaned out my beverages in 3 to 5 days and replenished as soon as i went back into town to steal more from grandma.I will sleep and wake up when others have gone for morning assembly and i will stroll to the stream, have my bath and walk back to the dorm. I hardly attended classes. Towards the end of my final exams, i cleaned out my uncle's money that he was keeping in the ceiling, finished my exams and left.

I used to party hard, drink and smoke. The Boarding house allowed me that leverage. Further, although there were rules about day dress and all, i was simply a renegade and was not playing by any school rules, even the senior prefect then was more or less scared of me although i was much smaller, but i had the power of cash and could arrange for him to be beaten up by boys from the town anyday.

The result of that wayward life was that i failed my final exams woefully.

This was at Aggrey Memorial College.

It was only when i rejoined my parents that i became serious and made up for my papers. Since then i haven't looked back.

I just cant imagine a divorce especially where there are already children in the marriage. For their sake, i will forgive anything and everything. The most heinous crime will be cheating, even that i will forgive because i must have set the stage for her to cheat. I do not forsee the possibility of a woman physically abusing me, but where that happens, i will get round it my own way. Nagging, etc etc are things i can always manage.

Politics › Re: God Told Jonathan To Pardon Alamieyeseigha – Arthur Eze by hardbody: 9:36am On Mar 20, 2013
Multi-Billionaire businessman, Arthur Eze has dismissed the controversy trailing the presidential pardon granted former governor of Bayelsa state, Dipreye Alamieyeseigha and others saying it was God that directed president Jonathan to grant the pardon.

Speaking with state House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Chief Eze said criticisms against the pardon was misplaced.

“What Jonathan did is what a man who fears God will do. If I have an opportunity as president of Nigeria I will do the same. All of us are human beings. What he did was correct. We are not fighting war. Jonathan took advice from God. God has told him to show mercy. The bible says blessed are those that are merciful for they shall see God” he said.

He said the American government has no right to dictate to Nigeria because Nigeria is an independent nation.

Speaking on his donation of over N1billion to a church in the president’s Village, Chief Arthur Eze said those criticising him over the donation are criticising God.

“God gave me the money to contribute to the church. The money is not meant for Jonathan to put in his pocket. We are thinking of thanking God for what he has done for Otuoke. It was abandoned for many years.

They had no water, no electricity until when God brought Jonathan to change that place. Let the people have a place to worship God. Those criticizing me are confused people” he said.

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/03/god-told-jonathan-to-pardon-alamieyeseigha-arthur-eze/
That N1.0 billion Naira donation should be investigated. I suspect Money Laundry. Money must have passed through GEJ to Aurthur by way of agency arrangement. If this is true, who really made the donation?

When we are always cutting corners. Is the wooden boat the only means of travelling? Is there no airport in Gabon? To think that those guys that went to their early graves will be carrying huge sums of money, we are told they are traders, and from experience my brothers trade with huge sums. Very recently, i was trying to buy some fittings from Aba and i requested to send the requested amount to the bank account of the seller, the ediet refused and insisted i must come down to Aba and pay him cash. I did not even want to take delivery until he had received proof of payment, but the guy was so adamant that i could not fathom his idiocy. I had to eventually arrange for him to be paid cash.
