Music/RadioRe: Why Does Song Sound Better The More We Listen To Them? by Hardfact: 11:16pm On Nov 21, 2012
Mumu abi mugu, I think it's simply because for a good number of them esp those you didnt like initially, the more you replay/hear them over and over again, the more you get to perceive the flavour in it, and notice more details of the beauty of the sound. Cos every song has got its own flavour.

Dude, I may not be his fan as such but I know has a very very large base of fans who love seeing him doing his own thing in his own way.
Music/RadioRe: Nigerian Artiste You Dislike The Most. & Why? by Hardfact:
Hm! All them haters and those into this name calling.
Let me quickly remind us - no matter how you wanna look at it, you will agree that it's no joke or an easy task for any of the artists the much they may have achieved or how much impact they have made so far.

In as much as I dont flow with every one of them, I know they all have their fans who still do love them. I think we should take it easy the way some of us run them down even with our little idea of how these things work.
All the same I do abhor bad music. If you must call names, take it further by doing a better critique, giving the reason, maybe they'd see areas to work on. grin
Music/RadioRe: The 90s In Music. by Hardfact: 11:32am On Nov 21, 2012
AjanleKoko: I think I started a thread on this section once about the excellenc(e)(y) of the 90s, and the relevance to Music.

In the 90s, my religion was rap. A little bit of dance music as well, but mostly rap. The soulfulness of the poetry arrested me.
My timeline was something like Soul 2 Soul, C&C Music Factory,Vanilla Ice, Kool Moo Dee, Fresh Prince, Rock Base, Hammer ('90), NWA, Ice Cube, Snap, Ghetto Boyz & Naughty By Nature in '91.

92-94 and the entire rap scene went up ten notches. Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg,The Dogg Pound, Jeru, Jungle Brothaz, KRS One, Chubb Rock, Heavy D, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Nas, Pharcyde, Eric Sermon, Diggable Planets, a Tribe Called Quest, House of Pain, Onyx, and so many others. They rocked each and every joint. Those three years I still consider to be the Golden Age of Rap. Lyrics were pure, beats were eclectic. I was an undergrad then, and suffered irreparable damage to my GPA as a result of being overwhelmed by the sheer volume of talent. grin

95 was an in-between year. 96-98 was somewhat split between the West Coast ('Pac), East Coast (Biggie also known as the greatest lyricist of all time), and The Fugees. 99 was when rap started to go south, ending in the much-reviled Southern Crunk. In 2012, I watch Weezy on stage, and shake my head in regret. Why did the 90s have to end?
Kay-Dee:
I like them both (Pac and BIG) and I see their styles of rapping differently just like JayZ and Nas.
I started listening to rap in the early 90s : LL Cool, NWA, Snoop, Dre, Ice Cube, Naughty by Nature, KrissKross (I watched their first video on black and white TV cheesy cheesy ), etc etc - cant remember a lot of names right now. After the death of BIG and 2PAC, the quality of rap music peaked around 98/99 with the Fugees (as a group and their solo albums), Puffy and Mase tearing up the charts in their shiny suits, Busta Rhymes, Nas coming back with "I am" and Nastradamus, JayZ with the Hard knock life and "Life and Times of S. Carter", LL was back on the scene with a couple of albums, the noisy DMX was on top of his game, the white boy Eminem on MTV wowing every1, Big Pun, Fat Joe, Jarule (was wack and noisy but i liked him anyway),LOX, Common, Talib, Mobb Deep,Mos Def, Canibus (was always goin to be a flash in the pan). Lots of mixtapes (Sound Bomber, FMF, Violators, lyricist lounge) with underground rappers that made a lot of sense, the comical Red and Methodman, Wutang, et, etc. Then came the JayZ and Nas beef (Blueprint vs Stillmatic) in the early 2000s and 50 cents with his loud mouth and since then i hear the wackest things pumping out of my radio; sadly hiphop is finally dead.

**Nas fan to the core but that ni99a has totally lost the magic touch he used to possess**.
What more can I say? You guys just nailed it. Cant help reminiscing, good old days. All great acts indeed. Cld Krs be right to say it lives or any hope for Resurrection?
Such a sweeet thread!

Sprumbaba: Is your road better than the one in the US. Do you have electricity 24/7 like you get in the US. Government should focus more on infrastructural development. What our Government does is formulate policies for citizens to follow but they fail citizens by not providing basic amenities.

PoliticsRe: LASG To Seize Vehicles Parked On Sidewalk by Hardfact:
CrazyMan: Meanwhile, former Lagos State Commissioner for PublicTransportation, Dr. Segun Ogundimu, has asked Fashola to stop pursuing commercial motorcyclists, popularly called okada riders but face real issues in the state.
Ogundimu, at a press conference in Lagos onSunday, said, “The traffic law as it relates to the okada operators should not make you lose sight of the necessity to protect the travelling public.
“You must do something about real issues in the state rather than pursue okada riders all over the place.”
He said the force with which the restriction of okadas on some routes was being enforced was like “killing an ant with a sledge hammer”.
Ogundimu said during his era as commissioner, the challenges of okada riders were not different from what obtained currently.
He said a very sizeable number of operators were unemployed school leavers, some of whomare graduates, were non-indigenes who hadnoticed the yawning gap in the state’s supply side of public transportation.
Therefore, the operators, he said, had taken up the gauntlet to tackle the challenge created by the inadequate supportfor the travelling public.
He said with the restriction and strict enforcement, the increasing tendencies of operators to be hired by negative groups to perpetrate nefarious activities to people of questionable characters were high.
Ogundimu said okada remained the only viable and swift means of affordable public transportation in Lagos today.

Christianity EtcRe: Private Jets: CAN Slams Kukah, Bakare by Hardfact: 11:43am On Nov 20, 2012
Pastor Bakare has the right to voice out his mind of the issue, but that doesnt mean that a pastor receiving a jet as a gift is in itself a sin - some things may be difficult to judge on the surface. It's a fact these pastors are mere mortals like us, and it's no surprise if they fail. Again that doesnt change anything about principles of the bible or christianity.
By the way, if we say CAN is PDP, can we as well say CPC is muslim? huh

Christianity EtcRe: Is It Normal To See The Spirit Of A Dead Relative? by Hardfact: 10:29am On Nov 20, 2012
Interesting dimensions. After all said and done, one thing remains clear: everyone is entitled to their opinion and is free to choose what they like to believe, whether it's about God, spirits, the bible, death, demons, satan and so on. Even those who think the bible's nothing more than a mere fairytale.
It's a free world, isnt it?
Only time will tell.
Christianity EtcRe: Is It Normal To See The Spirit Of A Dead Relative? by Hardfact:
Topic quickly brings to the fore again every wind of doctrine.
It doesnt really make sense to deny that these things do happen. But to argue that its normal to be communicating with the dead, there's more to it. Some will even go ahead and tell you to go wake up your late loved one (or pray they wake) so you can continue to enjoy your relationship with them tho they are dead. May be they really do have a place here even after death, dont they? This calls to question what one does think about life, death, God, devil, spirits, eternity, heaven, hell, and so on.
Christianity EtcRe: Is It Normal To See The Spirit Of A Dead Relative? by Hardfact: 11:41pm On Nov 19, 2012
Think something like this should be taken seriously.
Such an occurence reminds one that in addition to the physical, there's got to be a spiritual realm. And whether one thinks there's a God or not, for such a problem to be dealt with, it may require a spiritual intervention of some sort, be it godly or evil. Even the incidence itself may be a bad omen and could even lead to more deaths.
To answer, such rarely do occur and it is NOT considered to be normal.

WebmastersRe: Should Parents Be Held Responsible For Their Child’s Online Behavior? by Hardfact: 10:14pm On Nov 19, 2012
I dont consider it a needless question.
Parents shouldnt be taken by surprise what their kids get involved in. They should take interest in great details of their activities both offline and online, so that though still very possible, it wont be that easy for them to stray.
Sad to note that many parents today dont really know their childrens' tendencies.
That said, for the case at hand, the parents shouldnt punished for their kid's sin.

PoliticsRe: Are Local Governments Useful In Nigeria? by Hardfact: 12:42pm On Nov 19, 2012
cool I believe the Local Govts should still be useful.
It's rather sad that like many other things related to governance in our society today, they seem to have failed, and have simply metamorphosed into a mere extension of the interests of the parties that run the state, another avenue for looting. If only institutions like EFCC were much alive to their responsibilities to keep them all on their toes, we would have been deriving as much benefits.
Rather than scrap them, they should be strengthened and made to deliver.
TravelRe: 13 Dangerous Bus-stops In Lagos by Hardfact: 10:43pm On Nov 18, 2012
Yeah, poster's right. I can I attest to it. Many of the places mentioned are that dangerous. Interesting to know media could write on it like this. One unfortunate thing about it is that everyone seems to know these things happen but it appears nobody (esp police and govt)'s really doing anything about it. Funny enough it's the activities petty traders and okadas around that tend to make some bustops safe at night. I fear these things might only get worse with the recent clampdown on bikes and agberos. And one wonders why its so difficult to have common streets in these areas.
Music/RadioRe: Why Are Songs All About Women by Hardfact: 9:52am On Nov 17, 2012
It looks like that's what the market wants, and the artists see it as an easy way out.
But I personally feel they lack what it takes to deliver good content and to have their own unique identity, not follow the crowd.

Bros, dont be surprised night may not be exactly what you need as its not really about the time you read. You need to study and understand yourself to know what best suits you. You may need to read more during day and sleep more at night.
If however you prefer night, you have to plan it, and have some sleep during the day.
