Sad this closure is coming despite that over the weekend, the Ladipo traders undertook marketwide cleanup exercise in response to gov's 'warning'. At same time the same gov is busy forcefully driving some 10-20 thousand low Iganmu residents from their abode, which gov called "slum", just after some days notice. These are interesting times! Someone must have an uphill task convincing all that Fashola's gov's not elitist, capitalist, and has room for commoners.

Yeah, go pop champagne, just heard it on the news this morn, marketwide clean up after the warning not withstanding, Fashola has shut down the Ladipo market. Pray you no longer have sleepless nights.

Seriously our of the major problem we have in Governance is that they don't have solution to anything except shutting down. *Ist News- Gov Fashola warns Ladipo traders that he will shut down the market because of dirtness if they dont change.

*2ndly: The following day, traders suspend their business activities, and carry out total environmental sanitation to prevent shutdown, and appease govt.

*3rdly: This morning, govt shuts down the Ladipo market despite traders remorse, claiming they warned previous.

*Next: Like many other markets previously closed, we expect govt/their reps to be paid some millions of naira (bribe) officially/off book before the market is reopened.

Nijerians rejoice, we are having more mega "oppositions" coming together on a "rescue" mission.

I'd have prefered it was renewal of their commitment to the improvement of the lot of the good people of Delta. That should have a relatively direct bearing on the people whose gov he is.

One possible shortcut is to be born with a silver spoon.

Rather belated intervention after numerous casaulties have been recorded. Directionless Nigerian leaders and their ever beautiful business of washing their stinking linen in public glare. In the light of these recurent events, the Nigerian judges, even the legislatures, executives, most of them can best be described as crooks, thieves, criminals, name it.

Reasonableness forever remains elusive!
With the erratic state of power supply, bills are unimaginably high and keep increasing. Wonder what it's gonna be when power supply becomes steady. Like the almighty Fashola would say, If you cant pay whatever exhorbitant figures/rates FG/'NEPA'/DISCO will keep coming up with, maybe you just subscribe to total blackout or maybe simply go to hell!
In all this, one thing is clear: They really don't give a mess what the people are going through.

gboss4sure: Foolish ACN followers will always ignore the truth but it will soon pan out in their eyes. The failure to keep the Ladipo market clean is a failure on the LGA and Fasholas part. They should introduce strict laws on cleanliness in that area instead of embarking on a shutting down spree

Tedpgrass: The drawbacks of the Fashola administration is the inability to effectively handle the intertwined microeconomics and macroeconomics of his state.

1 thing he has worked on (which had previously been an Achilles heel).... is having open days... during which progress is disseminated to public domain...**previously he was thought to be a poor communicator*.

Traditionally and culturally, the SW governance (formal and informal) has been largely socialist. Therefore to introduce a very capitalist approach to governance rather prematurely in some cases, will backfire at some point.

Nothing wrong with having a very strong opposition. But beyond being an alternative to PDP, they should be ready to work real hard to convince the people that they are much different from the PDP, and prove they are really concerned about the peoples welfare. Fewer, more specific, and measurable agenda are better.

Yes, such lavish spending on wanton centenary celebrations are uncalled for and wrong just as desperate/exhorbitant taxes and callous/draconian laws are uncalled for and wrong and taking things to the extreme.

Afam4eva: That's one of the reasons why i fault Fashola's style of doing things. he always takes the easy way out rather than tackling the issues from the root.

Sad. I dont a fu-ck what they say. With little signs of optimism Fashola displayed initially, he's turned almost 360 degree to destroy every hope the people have in him. I owe nobody any apology to consistently condemn wickedness manifest in whatever form. The fact that the masses are suffering while the govt has sweet comfort guaranteed whether they deliver or not is no joke!

Gov Fashola thinks the only singular way to tackle issues like this is to simply shut down, I mean shut down the entire market. No other effective/efficient way to address these issues. That's excellent, the people's gov in action!
Similarly, one effective/efficient way to tame/put in check his wild tyrannical tendencies and insensitivity to the plight of the ordinary people is to simply shut down every form of support for his future political ambition (be it Presidential, VP, Senate) and his party.
