Good observation. True. |
Shey na Police abi na Thief? Na police. No na Thief. E be like say na Police. In short these days sef we no dey too sure cos for naija the two be like brothers and sisters. |
Nice if Gov Obi can choose to not only work hard but smart to empower his people. It's up to him! |
Yes there must be serious losses that'll accrue. (But certainly that figure must be wrong.) Whether Fashola really cares about that or factored that in is a different story. By now they should have learnt how to deal with these things since it's becoming a regular ritual. They can as well think of moving their business to wherever favours them most if they really do feel they're unjustly treated. Such is the time. |
Nigerians deserve better than the present people in power. A formidable opposition is necessary. Let's see how things play out. |
Eko Ile: This thread should have been deleted by the same mods and the op banned.Yes those would happen if not for high regard for fairness, openess, justice, right of expression, due process, and utter disregard for bias, disorderliness, unnecessary highhandedness. I may not be op's fan, but it's his right. |
Days are evil. |
Nuzo, forget it. Mr Ngige should go back to his gov position. My candid opinion. From the look of things, for fairness, a SE presidency's nece, but I doubt the SE yet can produce somebody that'll fit in. If they are so concerned, first let them start by putting their house in order, and acts together. |
dayo8080: poverty is really affecting most of us that we dont even know the responsibilities of a political office holder any more. When the fund is always there for him to use, the only thing left is for him(fashola) to use his head and do the right thing and stop expecting unwarranted praises from Us. Simply because he didnt use his fathers money.Word. |
Where are the decisive steps he's taken/taking in this first instance that'll make people consider him? His popularity's fast gone down. Never gona be that easy for him even to rig himself in, should he fail to spark any pleasant surprises. Let's keep watching. |
pro01: Absolutely correct. Discretion is a critical quality required in the enforcement of many laws that govern petty offences (including traffic laws, restriction laws, etc.). The law was made for Man, not Man for the law. You don't ruin a person's life because he or she had reason to breach movement restriction laws, or drive on a one way road. Discretion MUST always apply in these matters. Even in advanced countries, law enforcement agents sometimes use their discretion to overlook petty offences depending on the situation.. . . . . . . |
0lumide: Laye laye!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is slavery!!!!!!!!!!No! Even, does it matter if they work fullday both Saturdays and Sundays, after all they are going to be rendering important services, wont they be paid? They are never being overstretched. Gov Fashola's policies are never too harsh. All affected workers should simply "shape up or shape out"! |
This Igbo people and their seeming unending contract with suffering. They should rather scrutinize and insist that rugged and solid candidates like Ngige of APC/ACN emerge to at least salvage them. What a pity! |
tefund: in civilized society this would post serious legal implicationThis is Nigeria. They really dont give a fu-ck. Isnt an average Nigerian's life as worthless as a heap of rubbish? |
As it stands, Lagos is gradually becoming an All Man To Yourself State. It's no surprise that numerous atrocities are recurrently being commited in the 'MegaCity' by the overzealous law offencement agents. Equally interesting is the fact many will rather publicly deny these things happen than condemn and fight these attrocities. Only time will tell. |
Congrats to the veteran politician. We need more this to help us know how bad things have gone. . . |
Gay/lesbian's a choice. You cant be it you dont want it. |
nwabobo: How many Nigerians actually pay tax?Tax or no tax, it may shock you to know that already available resources/funds are more than enough to far much more than you could ever imagine, only they are simply being carted away, as corruption rules. For Nig govt more money/revenue simply implies more looting. |
redsun: I think that is why the socalled engineers, doctors and lawyers don't do much to transform their societies, because they don't exactly know what it is all about. The key human innovative and selfless drives that upholds a society are missing. That is why there are medical doctors like uduagban who rips their states apart, instead of building.Truth. Does it not marvel you to possibly find such under the care of even Lagos State? If baffles me to find out that their recent 'renovation' works on some of their public schools were mere cosmetic, and the schools fast decaying, back to their usual shambolic states. |
Those are the stark realities of the Nigerian situation which many who have lost touch will rather not imagine, let alone believe. Sadly, all this happens amid abundant resources. |
Fashola? Could this be true? |
Nigeria's today mess can only be traced back to most of our past leaders. Hence I find it real difficult celebrating with an ex Pres Shagari. |
sucess001: one question...did the government give consideration of accessibility to Lagosians?..i doubt that and not surprised though. That is rather typical of the fashola government- sacrificing the people's comfort to make his office look more organised ...msshhhew!Looks like the pattern. |
Agreed FG must be cautious about our dwindling economy. And yes, let the overzealous/highhanded ACN state govts refrain from antipeople policies that tend to deny the fact that this harsh economy is real and which are killing the masses even further! |
olsmade: lol.same thing I was thinking, selfish thoughThat's a typical Nigerian for you - the idea is nice since you live close by, how it affects the traders themselves should it really matter? |
chiboy11: Dey re just usin IGBO pple to develop Lagos state d more, why do dey move markets were Igbo pple trade, Its just a simple maths here, any were dier s a high number of Ibos house rent dier wil increase n land sales wil triple, so movin a ibo trader to a vilage ure certainly sure he won't want 2leav dat vicinity n he start acuring lands , prove me wrong if am lying hereAnd are the so-called Igbopeople goats that they may be used like rags? If they feel they are being used nothing stops them from doing anything lawful to protect their own interests. I pity, yet I blame them for their woes! |

naptu2: 1) In the case of the market, the government is not shutting the market permanently. Once the market executives sign an agreement that they will ensure that there's no street trading, that the market will be kept clean, etc the market will be reopened. One thing I like this our govt for is that they can always find a way to present whatever it is they choose to do to appear right/acceptable in the eyes of the law. Whether it's got any moral bearing is a tale for another day. And if you expect Nig govt pronouncements in the media to be in tandem with the realities of what they choose to execute on ground you must be daydreaming. As usual, the market will be reopened after 'signing of agreement' (in more practical terms, after gov must have collected millions of naira bribe from the traders?). |
Hmmmmm call it a tribal war u may not b entirely wrong....... 1. From general stat, 7 out 10 markets in Lagos state are seriously dirty, why always single out Ladipo auto-parts mart. 2. A certain tribe are known for trading @ Ladipo market. 3. List of some dirty markets in Lagos some are even Dirtier than Ladipo mart; Mile12 market by mile12, Boundary market by marine beach, Idioro market by mushin Alaba rago market by okoko exp. Agege market.e.t.c. Yet they are operational. Is it not worrying that the closure of the market falls within d same period of government is having legal issues with the ''Market Leadership'', (since 2012 till date) the President has been detained by Lagos state govt, using it's Judiciary arm as the weapon. With the Leadership in confusion who guides the market??. If you see the market as bn dirty, is closing it the solution?, rmba Ladipo is a ''cluster of street shops'' meanin it's not even planned, so if the government is bn sincere abt dis,dn it should reolcate dm. To a well planned and mapped out area, considering the number of pple it employs, issues it helps resolve, family dat make their living there and bn the largest autopart mart in the State. Or A ppp btw d traders assoc. d landlords & state govt, to restructure the area like Tejuosho mkt, (gradually raising an organised mart, wt modernized structures and facilities and access roads). Or Set up a meeting with d whateva is left of the Leadership or an interim Leadership and Landlords in the area to av LAWMA personnels e.g 30 or 40 attached to d mart and 2 trucks, their job is to kip the mart clean. Sweepin the entire area everymornin by 5:00am or 6:00am or evening 10pm, dis is also a form of employment and the bills and salary of workers are sorted by the Traders association & Landlords. Just my own idea and view on the Matter!!!!
NO SIR! Lag State only prefers the zombie approach - just ban them, or shut them down! |
