Congress in schools holds on Monday. At least there is information for Unilag, Unijos and Uniuyo on their congress for Monday. The decision of the congress will then be taken to the zones and the zones to the National Executives. Hopefully a decision should be reach by Thursday or Friday next week. |
merbenko: who kill the strikeMessi |
nerodenero: Condemn all. Don't be sectionalYes now, you should expect such names because they are Nigerians. All of you are funny. Ayo is not a name of SW people alone. Its a popular name in cross river state among the ogoja people. In all stop tribalism. While living in the north, I have seen women in purdahs, sleep with men other than their husbands. Immorality has no tribe nor colour. Even oyinbo's do commit such sins. |
Nani4all: evrytin about me is turning positive except ma HIV statusDoes it mean you are positive to hepatitis? Structure your comment well oooooooooo |
The first thing to consider in how to overcome habitual sin is to note the change, or transformation, that takes place when a person is saved. The Bible describes the natural man as “dead in sin and trespasses” (Ephesians 2:1). As a result of Adam’s fall into sin, man is born spiritually dead. In this state of spiritual death, man is unable and unwilling to follow and obey God and habitual sin naturally follows. Natural man sees the things of God as foolishness (1 Corinthians 2:14) and is hostile toward God (Romans 8:7). When a person is saved, a transformation takes place. The Apostle Paul refers to this as the new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). From the moment we place our faith in Christ we are in the process of sanctification. The process of sanctification is that by which those who are in Christ are conformed by the Holy Spirit into the image of Christ (Romans 8:29). Sanctification in this life will never be fully complete, which means that believers will always struggle with remaining sin. Paul describes this battle with sin in Romans 7:15-25. In that passage he notes that even though he desires to do what is good in the eyes of God, he often does what is evil instead. He does the evil he doesn’t want to do and fails to do the good that he wants to do. In this, he is describing every Christian’s struggle with sin. James says we all sin in different ways (James 3:2), and that means each of us has what may be called “besetting” sins. Some sins are easier to overcome than others. Some struggle with anger, others with gossip, and others with lying. The point is that each of us has a sin (or some sins) with which we struggle. These besetting sins are habits that we developed during our lives as unbelievers and require more grace and discipline to overcome. Part of the process of overcoming these habitual, or besetting, sins is in recognizing the transformation that has indeed taken place within the believer. Paul writes, “So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus” (Romans 6:11). When Paul says, “consider yourselves dead to sin,” he is telling us to remember that in coming to Christ, the power of sin has been broken in our lives. He uses the metaphor of slavery to make this point. We were at one time slaves to sin, but now we are slaves to righteousness (Romans 6:17-18). At the cross, the power of sin was broken and in becoming Christians, we are set free from sin’s slavery over us. Therefore, when a Christian sins, it is no longer out of the necessity of his nature, but because he has willfully submitted himself to sin’s dominion (Galatians 5:1). The next part of the process is recognizing our inability to overcome habitual sin and our need to rely on the power of God’s Holy Spirit, who dwells within us. Back to Romans 7, Paul says, “For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out” (Romans 7:25). The Christian’s struggle against sin is one in which our ability does not match our desire. That is why we need the power of the Holy Spirit. Paul later says, “If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you” (Romans 8:11). The Holy Spirit, through God’s Word (John 17:17), works sanctification in the people of God. Habitual sin is overcome as we submit ourselves to God and refuse the temptations of the flesh (James 4:7- .Another part of the process of overcoming habitual sin is to change the habits that facilitate it. We have to adopt the attitude of Joseph who, when tempted by Potiphar’s wife to come to bed with her, left the room so quickly that he left his cloak in her hands (Genesis 39:15). We simply must make every effort to run from the things that tempt us to sin, including access to food if we are given to overeating, and access to pornography if we are tempted to sexual sin. Jesus tells us to cut off our hand or pluck out our eye if they “offend” us (Matthew 5:29-30). This means removing from our lives anything, even those things close to us, if they tempt us to sin. In short, we have to change the habits that lead to habitual sin. Finally, we need to immerse ourselves in the truth of the gospel. The gospel is not only the means by which we are saved, but it is also the means by which we are sanctified (Romans 16:25). If we think we are saved by grace, but sanctified by our own efforts, we fall into error (Galatians 3:1-3). Sanctification is as much a work of God as justification. The promise we have from Scripture is that he who began a good work in us will complete it on the last day (Philippians 1:6). Read more: http://www.gotquestions.org/habitual-sin.html#ixzz2jbA4DvZM |
jamace: They failed to add that about 75% of the lecturers offer good grades to the highest bidder and frustrate students who fail to bribe for good grades.May be in the Eastern schools, were they view everything as buisness. Nonsense talk from a supposed to be sensible person. |
Obi Okpor: Mehn!See job vacancy o!Make i prepare my cv for application.FG,abeg make una scrab ASUU nd employ us that are ready to work.Lookin‘ forward for the advert!Who is this trader? Are you one of the market women? Today is first November, you can start implementing your threat by chasing all ASUU members out of the country. |
oluafolabi: Just what I was about to type.. They are going on strike for just a day even though their grievances are genuine. When 4month strike does not move our leadership, what will be the effect of one day strike? You will see the response of the UK government, especially the parliament on these one day strike as if all hell has been let loose because they know the value of education. |
The funeral service of the late step mother of Dame Patience Jonathan is currently been broadcasted life on AIT. |
People easily get carried away by pictures that could be photoshoped. Where was that? And when did it take place? Can the vow with his life that the girl lying down is his girlfriend? |
wasak: .Won't you be weary of negotiations if you have been doing almost the same thing since 2006-2013. Why is it that its only when there's a strike that a pinch of progress seems to appear by the government. Don't you think the government is not sincere in its dealings? |
wasak: and d strike is d best way to get proper education? can u prove to me that funding is the number 1 problem of universities? What attracts a first class history student to Shell or Mobil? Lol. What attracts a first class chemical Engineering student to shell or Mobil than Academics (Good training, pay and exposure I guess). Therefore with good facilities for teaching, good pay, good working environment and welfare, the best brains will remain in this country and will be willing to teach. |
wasak: I am ready to challenge ASUU to a debate, d government as corrupt as it is have shifted ground, what the hell is ASUU fighting for? let's say our lecturers aren't qualified enough, y don't they overhaul themselves if they are truly fighting for d system? OK. they want over 3 trillion naira? how much is the overall budget of the country? do u know how many years Nigeria has been running on budget deficit? common!! think... so after providing the funds Nigerian universities will automatically become world class? is ur Aristo Dad a. lecturer?illiteracy is not just about been able to read and write. Where did you get your 3trillion figure from. The agreement is everywhere online. Its about 1.5trillion over a period of 4years. Don't you know what is called bail out? If govt has bailed out Nollywood,Banks, Power and aviation for the second time, should not government be able to bail out education. If a country generates about 11trillion naira yearly and has a budget of 4trillion will you say that government is not capable of educational bail out of 1.5 trillion spread over 4 years? Ask yourself a polite sensible question |
BEASTER: NO work no pay is the only remedy 2 solve this problem 'cos ASUU dos'nt hv any small pity on Nigerian students so the bad be wosen. And has it resolved it after 2months without salaries? The government should release the 100billion and budget the one for next year. By that they will have shown commitment. All they are doing now is the Nigerian bad way of giving money to the poor during elections to keep queit or giving 4K to people to protest for ODUA. the 30billion to ASUU and other unions in the university is no different from that. ASUU has refused to collect that money, to really show they want a change in our universities. Is Ghana richer than Nigeria? Why do they budget more to education than Nigeria? All our big men are establishing private varsities with an intention to rubbish the govt ones as it is now in secondary schools. If government can not sponsor education at tertiary level, why not increase fees like Fashola did to generate funds. You can imagine his school with over 90000 students. It was wise to that else the school will crash and loose all its moral standings. |
The Last Nazgûl: No Marco Reus? No Arturo Vidal? It's certain they won't win it but they deserve a shout-out. What's Xavi doing up there? He has churned out a myriad of below par performances and it's pretty obvious he has dipped in form. Thanks Vidal is the best player in Serie A. But we can only find Pirlo's name there. I'm a Chelsea fan, but I honestly think Mata should be there ahead of Hazard. I'm also surprised at the omission of Auguero. |
ayewosa: The strike will end soon. From a very reliable source.Close your mouth and stop believing what politicians tell you. The so called 100billion has not been disbursed by government. So how on earth should the intellectuals on strike trust the government who has jilted an agreement, followed by a MOU in 2012. Why should the senate be pretending they don't know of the agreement. The government has made a great mistake, yet it wants to use blackmailing to rubbish the agreement. Why should a sitting senate president have a university in Ghana? The aim of our leaders is to turn our universities to what public primary and secondary school's are today. Is that a good vision for Nigeria? |
kommiejewel: Which kind yeye struggle?; struggle dat will enrich lecturers' pockets more than it will benefit d studentsWhen you graduate, where will you like to work? ANS= Mobil, Shell, NNPC, Oando, KPMG, PWC, GTB, Zeinith,CBN, Customs etc Why won't you want to be a lecturer even with your first class? Ans: The working conditions are not good, especially the pay and what to work with. what is your suggestion on how to make the working conditions good. Ans: The truth is that if ASUU don't strike government will not change. On the other hand government should privatize universities, oh did I just say that, I forgot that my father has 5 children and 3 of us are in the University. He will not be able to afford even 500k per session for one of us. MY CONCLUSION IS THAT ASUU SHOULD FIGHT HARD SO THAT I WONT BE A DROP OUT. EDUCATION IS A RIGHT AND NOT A PRIVILEGE. End of the interview with the above poster. |
GustavoFring: Privatise all public universities.Really, then the students who are making noise now will begin their own indefinite strike. |
nora544: He want to have one of the best University in the world, he can dream and it is a long way.Shame to Governor Suswam of Benue. His state University ranks 82 in Nigeria. I guess that was why he was saying rubbish concerning ASUU & FG negotiations. I hope Nigerians can now see why he failed. |
Who knows this song should hit like? Stellaaaa marry oyibo, Oyibo, marry Stella. Stealla pack my money marry Oyibo. Oyibo take my money buy Cigar. The new version is; Stella buy Oyibo Cars, Oyibooo collect him money. Stella pack Nija money buy motor. Oyibo take Nija money build en country. |
peleson: I doff my cap for ihejirika. This man is a visionary army general. Pls let no man bring tribe into this. Be warned!it's a good thing to say all troops must be able to speak French. But I must tell you categorically that the NA has a college of Education in Ilorin (Sobi-Barracks), were this languages are been taught to soldiers and officers. The school is been managed by the Nigerian Army Education Corps. It has existed for more than 20years. He is politically advocating for more funds but if the school is now to be created in every division of the Army, that makes it very great. He is a purposeful leader. He has just removed the School of Nursing Yaba, from the NA Medical corps training school Ojo. Therefore, the school can benefit administratively and financially on its own as it used to stand alone previously. Intact the school is now to be called Nigerian Army College of Nursing. Mind you, this school has existed since 1979. It trains Registered Nurses for the Army, Navy, Airforce, Police, Prisons, Road Safety and other paramilitary corps. He is the first Engineer Officer to be the COAS and it is widely know that the best brains in the army belong to this corps as well as the Signal corps. |
Why did she not send her children to UNN, NAU or Uniport are those schools not good enough for undergraduate and postgraduate studies. |
Promhize: God punish this idiots. I was almost supporting them but on a second thought, this guys are greedy old men, destroying students lives with no sense of regret.BSc 2004; MSc 2007; PhD 2012. Did this qualifications not suffer ASUU Strike, is this fellow also an old fool, did this fellow enjoy automatic work after graduation, Do you think this fellow was sponsored by government. Can you spend 2-3million on a PhD research? (no be car you go first go buy)? Is it not wise for government to retain a talent like this before he moves to Ghana, Tanzania, Botswana, US and other European countries in search for good living and working conditions . Who should be patriotic, is it the person who struggled to attain this educational height with his money or the person who sends his children to the UK with commonwealth scholarships because he or she is in power? Think well before you talk. A worker is worthy of his wages (arrears from July 2009-to date Oct 2013). |
confusion247: That's the correct thing to say. A man whom el-rufai told us that has less than twenty thousand naira in his bank account when he came out from prison, is now a multi-millionaire after 8 years in aso rock. We all knew how Transcorp was formed and funded.El-Rufai (Hell) is a fat lair. You and I know that past presidents receive pensions, and as a retired general he is also entitled to pension. That alone should tell you he had more than that. His farm was also not closed down, so stop believing Hell Rufai. Why could he not transform ABJ as minister? That man berates first class holders, he talks anyhow. |
ocelot2006: Simple question: did OBJ complete the project after 8 FREAKING YEARS? A simple Yes or No will do.Government is a continuum. Yar Adua messed those projects up. They would all have been working before now. It was part of the key policies of OBJ tenure to reduce gas flaring by using the gas to generate power. Kudos to GEJ, because he could also had abandon the project. Lets remove sentiments, we know that this to leaders have Nigeria in their heart. |
Mekusnwa: I commend OBJ for initiating the power reforms and the NIPP Power projects which laid the foundation for the transformation work that GEJ is presently doing in power sector. However, serious credit must be given to GEJ for reviving and funding all these projects to completion. He is really working silentlyBoth of them have good intentions. Credit must also be given to OBJ on debt cancellation and oil reserves savings that created fund for this projects. Yar Adua stopped this projects between 2007 and 2009. It is not that there was no fund. The man does not just know what to do. That singular act by him has further put the northerners several steps back in the leadership of this country. Please vote wisely in 2015. |
Nice intellectual write up |
Demdem:It looks as if that was the greatest need of the aviation industry on their scale of preference. So what do we say on the first report, that talks about threat to the life of the minister. BIG LIE TO COVER BIG MESS. What was the share of the senate committee on aviation? Did they not carry out oversight function? Bad leadership, does other west African countries do the same for the foreign aviation agencies? |
Good direction. Things can still be better. So we can begin to compare our airports with those in developed countries. Lets bring back the national carrier in a privatize form. Turkish airlines has more than 150 planes for travels around the world aside their domestic planes. lets do it one after the other. My take is that social has made some people to sit up to work. Imagine having the internet to access information 40years ago. We might most likely not be were we are today. We can now post information for millions of people around the word to access. I think that's why it looks as if Mr president is the most criticized president in Nigeria. Because majority now have access to information. |
Ghana Graduate Medical School Tution for foreign student is $12,000 i.e 1.98million naira per sessions for 4 sessions = 7.92million naira. That is the amount several Nigerian Graduates from physiology, Anatomy, Pharmacology, biochemistry and biology related courses go to pay in Ghana. This is a government school and Nigerians are the most populated foreign student in this school. What makes Nigerian government to continue to subsidize education when it knows it will not fund the aspect of what it is subsidizing. I think the government must change drastically if we must begin to make waves as a country. This school will continue to grow and ours continue to die if we dont change. Change is the only word for now. Lets throw sentiments away. Why will the tution fees of few Nigerians going to study abroad in the UK and US only be greater than the entire ministry of education in Nigeria. It shows that if we improve the standards of our schools, foreigners will come in and we can also generate a lot of funds. This is the best time to do it, since the North African Universities and some Middle East Universities have been under political crises and wars. ASUU should prepare a strong presentation for the revolutionizing of our schools in the forthcoming National conference. |
0monnakoda: That is less than the budget for HarvardAnd that is what we are investing in a year in over 50 universities for infrastructure. Please, let all who like to criticize ASUU click on the link above and see why we have a very long way to go. 3.7 billion dollars alone is about 640 billion naira. Lets keep praying we'll get there, but we must improve on every side. Just one thing that make me glad is that, even with the level of deterioration in our schools, Nigerian graduates compete well when they study in this great universities outside. That's to tell you this country have great hope if her citizens are given the chance and well exposed. |
3Willywilly: Why Yorubas are angry is not because of this Official car, what is making them angry is the inauguration of Enugu International Airport, and hearing that more international airlines are coming soon, this news is not going well with them.Instead of quoting comments like this. Seun should just create a tab to click on under every post like; fool, tribalist, iliterate e.t.c. so people can click on it. By the time you see that 200 clicks on fool, 200 clicks on tribalist and 1000 on illiterate. You will think before you comment |
