Why did the guy not present his UK O level result? Is the result not acceptable?
Bringing a 2 Credit and 4 passes back home to serve is a shame.
He/she is probably one of those "aje butters". Any way, I wish him luck to win 5million naira damages.

Career / Re: Basic Medical Science In Nigeria - The Way Forward? by Hearme(m): 9:23pm On Sep 19, 2013
Airhix: Thanks Guys ! You have said it all ! I have a bsc in human physiology ! After the program and nysc ! The struggle wasn't easy ! Had to take a dive into Chemistry ! Am happy now ! I have some books and publications to my credit ! Any course outside Medicine, pharmacy, nursing and medical lab sci , I for one wudnt advise any person 2 accept the admission , you can on your own peril ! The physiological and anatomy national associations, who are heading them ; they all have got MBBS , so little ones and those undergraduates studying anatomy, physiology ,medical biochemistry , be very ready ! The journey is very long ! Start a patent medicine store or teaching jobs (biology ) awaits you in private secondary schs ! NUC have a role 2 play ! Re-structure these courses ! Let it be a 5 or 6 yrs course with a straight Msc or scrap it completely ! No medical research institute in Nigeria as of this age ! The ones will see are those with Fed teaching hospitals ! How many researchers are there ! I know of one ! The lassa fever institute with ISTH irrua edo-state ! Basic medicine in nigeria is messed up ! No future , most of our graduates are used as medical sales rep is only a brand name 4 drivers ! They drive all the length and breadth of nigeria delivery drugs 2 pharmaceutical store !

Nigerian Institute of Medical Research is in Lagos. Nigerian Trado medical research center in Lagos. I know there will be others but it still buoys down to what ASUU is talking about. No funding, which makes everything redundant.

The largest grant awarding bodies in the world; NIH and welcome Trust sponsor researches in basic medical science mainly. The grants are available for all to apply, but what happens when you are out of the world of what they are saying. When you can't even store samples appropriately due to power supply or have the digital equipment to carry out the current trend of research. The polygraph used in 1973 to teach our present professors is what is still available and even unserviceable,

the grants from NIH are used to pay Post doc and doctoral students, so you can imagine how massive that fund will be to pay one or two postdoc students about 30,000 us dollars p.a each. That Is Just the maximum amout You can get in Nigeria from TETFUND for research after several fasting and prayers.

A very long way to go.
Osahon7: anoda BSC?? Why not get MBBS or BDS?

it seems you don't know that Medicine is now war, except you get a govt job or a very good private company. Even the govt jobs are noting to talk of welfare wise leading to a massive migration and the so called brain drain in the country. In the UK, next to the Indians are Nigerians in the hospitals as doctors. Same in US and Canada. Even though we still don't have the facilities to grant them a good training here at home.

you and I can imagine if we invest in health and education. We will begin to have foreigners seeking healthcare as is the case of Nigerians running to India now. Foreigners in our schools etc.

So your eyes cannot see that the Governor himself said his state university got 950 million. Ask him the year he invested that amount into infrastructure since becoming a governor. Congratulations to ASUU. We need more for our schools

deletrue: Mid way into your thread, it became clear that you are more confused. While i agree that the write up is lengthy, you can go through it into more than half way to understand it to some extent. Have you done that? Can't you praise the student leader and the government? My finding revealed that ASUU is annoyed because federal government established new universities. ASUU wanted that money spent on the old schools for sharing. They forgot that available schools are too few for the numbers of students seeking admission.

So how much has the FG invested in those new universities? Can it be compared to the state of covenant university at inception not to talk of after 2-3 years now that those universities have been announced.
Education / Re: ASUU Vs FG Face-off: Just Before You Nail The NANS President by Hearme(m): 4:14pm On Sep 13, 2013
As many students supporting the FG, my prayer is when you graduate, you will do free service for government for at least 10 years. Then FG will promise and agree with you to start paying you, and then disappoint you for 4 years, telling you there is no fund but buying golden iPhones and allowing those with school cert to buy private jets. In your face may they budget 12 times your budget for an overinflated and politicized census.

May the councilors in your ward that work for 2 years make a law that makes him eligible for a life pension as the national assembly are preparing for one now. Even though, just aout 500 of them have benefited over 1 trillion in 8 years and now denying over 10,000 lecturers 87 billion of 4 years arrears.

Government recklessness and insincerity to be blamed. Let the OP declare that he has no financial conflict of interest from either NANS or FG. It is until we begin to invite channels to our universities to see and broadcast students standing and sitting on the floor before they will respond.

Railway workers fought for salaries without fighting for the system where are they today? Same for NITEL, if the universities don't fight to improve the system, a generation will arise one day to curse this generation.

You don't know about military traditions yet you don't believe. If its true, the officer will most likely be retired or made to lose seniority and posted out. Its a case of physical assault in which the subordinate can respond back appropriately. As long as it is not a training institution like Depot, NMS and NDA.

Well-done to the Ilesha born Professor. He is very funny and full of demonstration when teaching. I remember his inaugural lecture titled: marraigeology of chemical ligands back then in 2004 on his 50th Birthday.

More to come if government can fund research appropriately. You can imagine that same university trying to buy an electron microscope since 2003, I don't know if they have one now. That's how backward we have been due to poor funding of universities.

I questioned why my beautiful wife would ever have an account with a bank that has no control on crooks planted on their online business channel but she informed me her employers did. Well we are out of that trashy Internet fraud ridden channel they call U-Direct.

One bank I will and cannot recommend ever - UBA.

Meanwhile @ poster, why such a long post to say that UBA sucks? Even their big HQ stinks - cobwebs, no maintenance, no class no panache, nothing.

And to think I liked that bank as a kid especially their sweet and melodious TV ad...ashay na scam in waiting.

I left there 2009 when suddenly my account was emptied using another ATM card at Lekki. Till now they are still investigating the issue eve though I visited their headquarters twice. You can imagine savings for your wedding been stolen.

I agree Akwa Ibom is trying but can you compare its population with that of Lagos. Remember that state gets its derivation percentage from oil production. It should be better. Kudos to him anyway because others who are deriving are not doing anything.

Politics / Re: Ex-militant Tompolo Buys A Private Jet by Hearme(m): 10:10am On Sep 10, 2013
Election strategies by GEJ appears to be working. The earlier the country gets out of if GEJ will go for 2015 the better. The way it appears he is fighting with OBJ and IBB is not a good indication as what happened in Egypt might just come up in Nigeria if this nonsense continues.

As for Tompolo I think he has the freedom to buy whatever he wants. The country security agencies just have to be up and doing because the more private jets the more money laundering and the more arms importation/transportation. That's just my fear. Everyone who cares will remember that such contract has been given to OPC will know that selling our security to millitia groups for election sake is not the best. Soon one of them will flaunt a jet too. The the Bakassi boys, BH, and the Nassarawa militia and other small ones will take crime as a means of obtaining something from government.

its a pity that, this is the result of cumulative injustices' in the country. Where those who steal with the pen are glorified. The country is under a siege of thieves who can not be prosecuted. Remember Iboris words on there agreement from the governors forum. Which produced in YarAdua and which led to the removal of EFCC boss and the release and pardon of Alamesigha. Who can prosecute Bankole, It means PDP is ready to show how they have destroyed the nation, so the case must lie low. Lets watch and see if Farouk will not be only fined or discharged by our court. It is even made worse that the 3 arms of government are now in the same ship of corruption.

Which way forward Nigerians? Is this how it will remain fellow youths? Where are our civil society groups? How can we make our voice heard for the transformation of this country? Where is the Impact of the SURE-P program? My first visit to the UK made me weep. Does it mean we can never be organized as a nation? Enough of polarization on grounds of ethnicity, religion, and zones. Lets have a common ground that makes us one, so we can move Nigeria forward. This generation of the old will die, but what stories shall we tell our children.

God bless Nigeria.

This country will disintergrat into more than ten sovereign country because even the so called North will not be one. if any thing happen to this country the North will suffer the most so IBB, ATIKU and CO be warned pls allow GEJ to finish his tenure cos he has not even come out to say HE wants to contest in 2015

Nonsense, what happen in Egypt will happen here peacefully, without shedding of blood should GEJ insist in splitting the country.

When Western forces engage the Syrian army you can be assured that it will be nothing like the 1991 conflict in Iraq when a hundred thousand of Saddam Hussein’s soldiers surrendered without firing a shot. Nor will it be a no-fly zone free-for-all where air forces will be able to target military assets as they did in Libya without being challenged. No, this time will be different. Russia supplied Syria with state-of-the-art 24-Barrell rocket launchers ranked as the most developed artillery weapon of its kind. Syria is armed with Russian weapons that have never been seen before in the Middle East including computer guided smart missiles that never miss their target. Russia also supplied Syria with Skean 5 ground-to-sea missiles that are capable of hitting and sinking any target up to 250 km off the Syrian coast.

What are drones for? Only if Syria can overcome the technology that can down all signals either radio or computer, then you can tell me they will successfully hit the US well. Remember a war is not won by your weapons but by your intelligence in intelligence gathering and execution. You can't outsmart the US and UK on that. All your mails are not safe so what are you talking about? Even Russia will bow.

Paulkigame: This developement was brought about as a result of ommission of the House Officers and Interns(considered as temporary staff) on the newly introduce Intergrated Personnel & Payroll Information System ( IPPIS); a portal for payment of all federal civil servant. This scheme is expected to save the government monies paid to ghost workers previously. This scheme has so far proved to be problematic in most of the places it was introduced.

You are very correct. Yet the auditor général just said that they have saved 120billion in 4 years from the system. The system that don't recognize temporary staff. The policy is gradually been developed to pay salaries directly from CBN to staff account. To cut the issue of over inflation of personnel cost by MDAS. Its actually a good idea but they are not supposed to have allowed staff to stay for more than 3month without salaries. How do you expect them to feed, that can lead to all sort of corruption.
