mcbau2020: But the school is own by Government and run with tax payers money which comprises both Muslim and Christian so everyone should have equal rights. Equal right, that makes the uniform there. Do you guys firstly understand what a uniform is? The uniform is not a Christian clothing, nor is it a traditional clothing. In most cases, these uniforms make room for girls/ladies to cover their hair by adding a beret to the girl/ladies uniform. So why are we seeing the uniform as something else by trying to add our own religious clothing to it? |

Chijeep: This post reminds of a day in my secondary school when a young lady (Senior class) wore a headscarf in a form of d reverend sister but immediately a teacher saw her she told her 2 remove d headscarf and put on her beret. and do u know d most funny part of it? d school is a mission school and d teacher is a reverend sister also. d code is:- Live and let others live. if u go to a neighbour's house and he asked you to put off ur shoe before walking in u av no option dan 2 abide na Exactly why i talked about adhering to the uniform. The uniform already made provision for the lady to cover her hair with the beret, so why was she doing captain too do? |

otunbabadok: Just in case you don't know, the schools are no more owned by the missionaries. They have been given to the government since 1974. They are fully funded by the government. I went to a Baptist school (a public school) but just beside my school compound they (church) have another school called Baptist N/P school. If as a Muslim you enrol your child in the latter you have to abide by their rules. As for the former, it is a government property and as such open for anyone with any religious affiliation. Finally, can you tell us why you can't have an image of Mary with her head uncovered? A document was posted the other day, I didn't go through it though (because i was tired of the talk). From the little I read, I think there was claim that the school is not owned by the government. My take is not even about ownership, my take is the school has a uniform to be adhered to. Why are we hell bent on adding to the uniform? Why can't the Muslims just give their wards something like what Tao uses to tie her hair and not hijab since this is causing controversy. This will be a win win, adhering to the uniform which is first, then going with their religion as well. |

Difrent: This section is islamic section , for you to comment you have to take the oath of being a muslim .... Many folks LIED that they are muslims just so they can comment .....MUST YOU COMMENT ON ISLAM SECTION?
if a public School (founded by the church but now funded by the government) has a uniform but some people feel it's discriminatory , they can challenge it , just like some Christians feel it's discriminatory to ask people to take an oath before making comments in Islam section and has been challenging it by lying on oath in order to express themselves and point out the discrimination
My take If I type a million Amin or Amen, how does that help me claim a prayer? I have always been a critic of Seun for not putting up same oath for the Christian post and traditional post. I am not one of those that will insult Islam just to catch fun like i keep seeing it here. I only add my 2 cent on issues. |

biotechshola: Thats simply what they are saying, but unfortunately non Muslims do not understand this.. Hijab is simply a covering or veil. no, you are not getting it. Check a comedian on twitter Toaoma or so. She doesn't put on hijab, but i have never seen her hair. Hijab is not part of the uniform. They should use the uniform during the school hours. |
Islam › Re: Lágbájá, Hijab controversy and how Environment Influences Muslim by Heavance(m): 10:01am On Mar 26, 2021 |
Firstly, for me, I have no problem with the hijab. But you guys seem to to getting this whole thing twisted. The controversy comes from where it is worn, a school has a uniform students adhere to. you know the uniform, and you decide to add something to it. If other parents bring in their religious things into the school, what would happen? There is a uniform, please teach your wards to adhere to the uniform, when they get home, they can put on whatever they want to add. It's that simple. There is a uniform that should be adhered to, i say again, there is a uniform that should be adhered to, know this and know peace. Your wards can tie their hair with something else, as i think the hair is the main covering for ladies. The school is not an Islamic school, and there is a uniform to be adhered to, please adhere to the uniform and change when you get home, simple. |

LegendHero: Brother, I don’t think this should be an issue in this age and time.
The Christian schools in question are being funded from the revenue of the state government and that make it a public funded school.
Now do you mean the Muslim student should be disenfranchised from attending the school that is being financed from proceeds from his parent taxes?
—However that leaves some grey areas. What exactly will the Christian lose for having a Muslim girl on Hijab? I find it rather disturbing that this kind of issue can even be debated on when we have moved past this era.
—Are the Christian girl forced to wear hijab when they attend Ansarudeen and other public Muslim schools? I hate what religion has done to us in Nigeria to the extent we defend a clear deficiency. Before going too far, do you understand what a school uniform is? Now, when they show it to you, do you see hijab, rosary or a totem there? Why can't these parents give their kids turban or something to tie their hair like Taoma ( the online skit comedian)... Will putting on the hijab make them more brilliant? Their is a uniform the school adhere to, any additional thing has created room for others to deviate. Now to your first paragraph, the northern states are against alcohol, they even destroy alcoholic drinks from trucks. At the end of the day, FG shares revenue generated from this same alcolic drinks to Northern states. I don't know if you understand what I am trying to make you see? |

Grgton: it's already causing discussion!! I watched the video,I felt so ashamed... when did wearing hijab become such an issue as a Muslim you can wear hijab to the mosque, same goes to Christians tying scaf to the church...NOT in the school!! school has dress codes.. and besides the school in question is a missionary school.. so why that tention?? I think parents concerned should send their kids to Muslim school where they can wear hijab forever!! Omo, I taya o... I have said this thing over and over again. I just wonder what those above are claiming right for, you send your ward to school, you know the school uniform and all of a sudden because you are a Christian, Muslim or obatala worshipper, you decided to add hijab, or rosary to the uniform. When will people learn to separate religion from education? |

Life would have started showing you shege. Is it the sweet talks over the phone, or the sweet talks when they see you? Go and check the statistics of married couples during the pandemic and see how people actually want out, just because they were indoor with their spouse and they have seen their true colour. Ask yourself deep questions o, because nairaland people have kept your file now, when you come back to tell them you want to divorce or want out, they will bring this file out from the vault (Dem no different from village people o ).
