Lol,..... This story is good because it helps increases the belief of the downtrodden that one day things will be better if he keeps working harding and praying. Aside that, there were serious flaws and my question goes thus:

1) How can a management position in a company employ someone without cognate experience?

2) You mind telling the name of the organization and the link to the advertised vacancy?

I'm not disputing your story, though, it seems clearly something is amiss. Congrats anyway

If you don't grow above university life, you will destroy the beautiful thing you can have.
A lot of people lived that life and broke up, yet they are living a better life, it was actually youthful part where you think you are sensible (but in actual sense you know better now).
This story may not be new at all to many of us, we all know those who lived that couples life even threw it to our faces and today they hate to remember that life.
Let go of the past, your mind will play crazy clips to you, but in truth if everyone talks about the past, I don't think many people will want to settle down.

What "west"? I hope you are not trying to be tribalistic.

I have never seen anyone all my life around here treat beans meant for moi moi that way - God is my witness. And I am not a kid.

Maybe those who sell moi moi does it, but I have never witnessed it or seen people even reporting seeing such before now.
Na, not being tribalistic.
I used West because when I expressed my shock, people around were looking at me like I just saw something new.
I have seen a seller during Ramadan 2 years ago doing, and in boarding House it was always done by the women in the kitchen.
That's just the bitter truth, if I haven't seen it with my eyes, I won't say this.

Hajara was NOT a slave! She was gifted to Sarah and her husband (Abraham) by an Egyptian king; which means Hajara’s actually a princess.

The intimate relationship btw her and Abraham was approved by everyone (Hajara’s father, Abraham and Sarah as well), therefore technically, she was Abraham’s wife... if we are talking about illegitimacy, its Sarah and her son Isaac, that are actually illegitimate because Sarah was Abraham’s sister!

Can anyone here marry their own sister, bear a child together, and then say that child is a legitimate child? I don’t think so!

Only 2 clubs I respect in the world and that's Liverpool and Madrid.

Madrid has done well since time memorial with 13 UCLs. and because Madrid has it 13 times doesn't make laliga better than EPL - my opinion tho.

Apart from Madrid, name any other laliga club that could tie the shoelaces of Liverpool in terms of UCL trophies.
You have finished it, in your opinion.
Football is not your opinion, it's what we see. Football doesn't care about shoelace of a club, your performance over time is what we care to see.
I am not a la liga fan, but I do love Liverpool.
I just tell you as it is.

If teams are playing Madrid week in week out, and that same Madrid has the total Ucl of all epl teams, total of serie A teams too...
My dear, LaLiga is on top of all others.

Mind you, the best of the best only considered playing in LaLiga and Serie A, Man City's money was what started the attraction of others to England.

Ineedtoheal:
Hi Famlanders, Please I need your advice. I beg you all to save a sister. I have to bring this here coz I know it's where I will get wonderful contributions. Again, I am using this new account coz I have friends and customers here. I don't want to blow my cover. Please this is real and not fiction. This will be quite lengthy, please bear with me.

I met this guy in 2013 when I was in year one. It was not a steady relationship coz we barely call nor see so I didn't take him serious. And whenever we see, it was always at one friends house or another. I accused him of being married but he vehemently denied it. Later on I figured out he had accommodation issue after he lost his job. He later rented a house when he got another job with one of our prestigious federal universities here in Nigeria and that was when things became serious (kinda).

We became very serious around 2016 that is why I count it as 5 years instead of 7. But then during one of my visits, I was sleeping in the room when I overheard him talking to someone but the only thing that caught my attention was when he said "I don't even have a girlfriend". Though I didn't confront him, but I thought about it deeply.

Two nights ago, I had a dream where he was getting married to another lady. I was crying while he was still saying he loves me but can't marry me. I confronted him yesterday, he said I am pressurizing him to marry me that was after he first asked what will happen if we don't end up together. He hasn't told me where the relationship is leading to after 5 years. We have been living for the moment. Just for the moment!

Few info about the relationship
1) He will be 40 this November while I am 27.
2. He has always had numerous girlfriends that when he's with them, he doesn't pick my calls though he always apologizes and he's trying his best this year.

3. He always send pictures of other women to his friends to let them know they are the people he wish to marry but never has he sent mine. Though he claims he's not doing it again.

4. From the look of things he's still searching while he wants to have me all to himself. Maybe a second option since the others are not accepting him and I love him foolishly.

5. The relationship is 50 -50 .We spend on each other. He believes it's the woman's duty to do all the house chores but not the man's duty to take care of the woman.

6. On his Fathers burial last year, 3 of his girlfriends came (me inclusive) and we all wore the burial uniform. Together, we served his guests even when we realized we are dating same man. His neighbors were giggling and gossiping but we all decided to be matured and work together.

7. When my sister that raised me died, he didn't come for the burial. his reason was he had supervision that day in school, same person that calls his colleague to cover for him during exam supervision so he could do other things. He also didn't send me any money but he questioned me for not giving him any money for his Father's burial. Even when I paid him excess for the burial uniform. I know why I did that. Mind you, he has asked me before if he can give one of his ex 10k during her Father's burial which I agreed and he sent her the money.

8. I have rejected some suitors who were willing to marry me coz of him. Though he has never encouraged me to accept any of them. In fact he gets angry hearing that another man is coming close to me.

9. He doesn't call often, I do more of the calling though he always return my calls. He can stay for days without calling unless I call. I know I have been the one holding the relationship coz I thought he will change.

10. Sine 2017 till last year, all I did was forgive him coz I love him. He keeps bringing new / different ladies into the picture. I have gone through a lot of emotional stress. He keeps asking me to stay that he loves me but he's confused.

His good side: He's understanding, motivates me to do my best, he doesn't hit me, he is gentle.

Me on the other hand is sometimes stubborn though very faithful coz I love him to a fault. I easily get angry but forgives easily. When I'm angry I talk so much but I don't abuse him. He is simply the cause of all my anger. He always say I am very understanding, a good girl, drama free but yet he doesn't want to marry me and won't let me go too. I have never involved a third party in our relationship except my late sister who said she wish I will walk away from the relationship because I love the guy more, that it won't end well. All my friends thinks I have a perfect relationship because I don't discuss him with them.

Back to last night, I told him I won't call him again coz he said I am pressurizing him to marry me. The truth is I have seen the hand writing on the wall, not today but two years ago but I keep going back. Please I need advice on how not to go back again. The love he proclaims for me is not enough for him to marry. I have wasted enough time already. Maybe hearing the raw truth here will help.
I stopped reading at number 8.

That number 6, I couldn't take it anymore, chaiii.. How did you manage to do that?
He didn't show up at your person's burial and you are still considering what? Babe it's too early to accommodate stupid people, delete him from your contact list, block him off your life entirely else you will regret this thing.
Is it until you serve guests at his wedding before you know this is stupidity?

The truth is, this guy is tired of you, your body, your nature, your way of sex, your way of doing things. He is not moved again, as you are always available.... You are not scarce, so how will he appreciate or place value on you?
Look at the mirror, tell yourself you are too cute to be with such a person. Please be open to other guys and move forward in life.

This guys plan is to invite you to serve guests at his wedding. Better move.
The height for me was what you listed in number 7, I don't waste time anymore to block anybody who feel they are special, for me, that will be the last communication we ever have in this life.

Listen: tell him you are going on a date, watch his reaction. Then give any of your suitors a chance let then show you love, you may end up crying daily because someone will show you how special you should be treated. Not that the new guys are saints, but let someone else treat you good.

Family › Re: My Wife Of 3 Years Is Very Shy Around Me by Heavance(m): 4:56pm On Feb 29, 2020
Bervelyhillz:
This is a bit long but please bear with me.

I’ve been married to my amazingly beautiful wife for 3 years. The problem is she is very shy around me but at the same time seems to try to secretly please me constantly. It leaves me feeling guilty and I’m not sure of what to do next.

Backstory:

I met her through my mom. My MIL and my mom are childhood friends who grew up together. I never met her at the time since I lived in the US while She was in Nigeria. When I was 20 I saw her in a family friend’s wedding album. I was floored and my eyes were watering. She was the most attractive girl I had ever seen.

I figured out her FB and messaged her since I didn't want to initiate contact through our moms. I struck up a conversation. I soon realized that my mom fed info about me to my MIL which in turn got fed to her , so she already knew a fair bit about me. We chatted constantly, met up on my vacation to Nigeria , and hung out together every day. I learn she is still a virgin saving herself for marriage. I was still one too, mostly because A) I was chubby most of my life and didn't dare go near girls in that state and B) when I did start getting more fit, I already fell in love with her and it felt wrong dating at the same time. So yeah we had that in common.

Skipping ahead again to three years ago when I graduated from grad school. We met up a handful of times more, and things were awesome. She was outgoing with me, giggling over almost nothing and general silliness. We never did anything sexual, but we were intimate enough and honestly seeing her gave me goosebumps, so it wasn't on my mind. On one visit to Nigeria, she brought up the topic of marriage in a joking manner, something about how our mom's always planned it. I jokingly replied that I would be happy to marry her, then she got all serious and asked if I was for real. I said yes and, well, the rest is history.

The problem:

We had our wedding in Nigeria and, after the papers got sorted, she moved to the US to live with me. The first few months were interesting. She knows English pretty well and she majored in her native language, so she looked for translation jobs. She never got replies from employers, so I was getting a little suspicious, especially since she was an honors student at a pretty high ranking international university. I found out that she wasn't actually sending the applications out. I bring this up gently with her, and she starts tearing a bit telling me she wants to be a stay at home wife and that she didn't think I would be proud of her if she didn't get a real job. She says she was going to tell me soon, which I believe because I found a recent word document in our computer that was basically a draft of the speech she was going to give me. I don't mind her staying at home as I bring in enough money for the both of us and she is a really good cook.

This prompted me to sit down with her and figure out where our communication is breaking down. After a bunch of long discussions about this, I felt we were on the same page. She was still growing more timid around me and didn't start conversations easily with me, but she always seemed happy. I stepped up my displays of affection, showering her with compliments, hugs, and kisses. I would often catch her staring at me (usually while we ate), to which she would get red-faced and look away quickly. It’s been 3 years now and still does the smiling stare, except now she doesn’t look away when I catch her. The conversation starting has gotten a bit better, but nowhere near pre-marriage. While she always had this quiet peacefulness to her, I noticed she is intentionally not doing things that might get me worked up. Examples being: discussing politics (we have the same views), discussing my work problems, discussing anything philosophical in nature, etc. She will respond if I start, but she doesn’t take the initiative like before. I really miss that.

The sex is...interesting? As I said before, I didn't have any prior experience so I can't judge her, but she just lays on the bed and doesn’t move until I suggest to. She never initiates but never declines. I try to make it about her more often than not, but if I’m looking for feedback she quietly agrees with whatever I'm doing. After we finish, she lays in the same position looking at me, sometimes smiling, sometimes teary-eyed. I take it she likes it, but then again she never likes to talk about sex. From what I gather in our pre-marriage talks, she doesn't have any negative views on it and it wasn't shunned by her parents, it's just that she is shy. She doesn't like me seeing her naked even though I do (ha ha...:/ ). She is…shy very well proportioned…and I tell her how it is so she shouldn’t feel self-conscious. But she still covers up outside of sex.

Another issue is fitness: I work out constantly at home or in the park (calisthenics) and I invite her to join but she politely declines. She runs almost every morning so I thought maybe she gets enough from that. But I have noticed that my weight backpack at home is sometimes at a different weight than when I left it. I have also noticed She has made some serious butt/thigh gains which really stand out on her thin frame. When I ask if she is doing anything differently, she says “maybe it’s the running” then changes the subject. I don’t understand why she is working out in secret. This is most likely my fault though since I used to try and tease her into working out with me; I made a silly remark about how squatting/ham-raises will put more meat on her legs.

Conclusion:

Guys and gals, I need help. I love my wife dearly. She is funnier than any comedian, more disciplined than any soldier, and more beautiful than any celebrity. But she is making me feel weird by trying to secretly improve herself based on my preferences. Her shyness around me is awkward and I want a return to the easy-going pre-marriage . Has anyone had experience with this?

Also: she has made many friends here and still is in contact with a few back home. However she doesn't seem excited to be around them as much as when I offer to go out with her. She's always offers to cancel plans to stay in with me or go for a walk. I thought she might be depressed, but she is super cheerful even when she doesn't know I'm around.
For the first time on nairaland, I read a long write up without skipping.
This looks like a movie script, bro you are really blessed with a wife. Whenever you wake up, go on your knees, and thank God you find a woman/wife /sister/friend, I thank God on your behalf that you didn't end up with a slay queen.

Wait, you even mentioned she cancels other plans just to go out with you, or a work (and she is so cheerful doing that).... Choiiiii, you are really blessed with a woman who doesn't like unnecessary gossip, as that's what those friends will turn her into.

Enjoy your wife, enjoy your life, I understand your mind (you want her to be very free and start conversations and be bold) she will get there. Everything you explained about that lady (your wife) is exceptional, more like your mom kept a raw gold her in Nigeria for you, and you came to pick it up all the way from obodoyibo without paying tax, you are extremely lucky.

With time, she will get bolder. She may not be an extrovert, or one who likes crowd, or one who likes unnecessary attention. Maybe take her to places where you guys can dance in the open, or where couples go and the music calls for couples to take the stage one after the other.

My brother, you are blessed.
Islam › Re: Can I Recite Adhkar In Yoruba, Hausa Or Other Languages Other Than Arabic? by Heavance(m): 12:50pm On Feb 28, 2020
Lukgaf:
Praise be to Allah.

Firstly:

The point of the greeting of salaam and the adhkaar that are prescribed is the meanings, aims and impact, and undoubtedly that may be achieved by means of a language other than Arabic. Hence the scholars ruled that saying these things in Arabic is not a must.

An-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

With regard to giving the greeting of salaam in a foreign [non-Arabic] language, there are three opinions, the third of which is that if a person is able to say it in Arabic, it is not valid in another language.

I [an-Nawawi] say: the correct view is that it is valid to give the greeting in a foreign language, if the other person will understand it, regardless of whether or not he is able to speak Arabic, and the response must be given, because it is still regarded as a greeting and prayer for peace. And Allah knows best.

End quote from Rawdat at-Taalibeen (10/230).

They also said that this is applicable when mentioning the name of Allah at the time of slaughter.

Ibn Qudaamah (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

If he mentions the name of Allah, may He be exalted, in a language other than Arabic, it is valid even if he is able to speak Arabic, because the aim is to mention the name of Allah, and that is possible in all languages. This is in contrast to saying the takbeer (“Allahu akbar”) in the prayer, where the aim is to say the exact wording (in Arabic).

End quote from al-Mughni (13/260).

But what should be done, if the speaker and the one whom he is addressing both know Arabic, is that the greeting of salaam and the response should both be given in Arabic. The scholars stated that for an Arab to speak any language other than Arabic unnecessarily is makrooh (disliked).

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

Ash-Shaafa‘i said: … The language that Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, chose is the language of the Arabs. He revealed His holy Book in Arabic, and made it the language of the last of His prophets, Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). For this reason we say that anyone who is able to learn Arabic should learn it, because it is the preferred language, even though it is not haraam for anyone to speak any other language.

Ash-Shaafa‘i regarded it as makrooh for the one who knows Arabic to say “Bismillah (in the name of Allah)” in any other language, or to speak Arabic mixed with another language. What the leading scholars said was also narrated from the Sahaabah and Taabi‘een.

End quote from Iqtidaa’ as-Siraat al-Mustaqeem (1/521-522).

Secondly:

And Allah knows best.

Source: IslamQA
This is the main problem.
You see, reading through all, one just realize this, this right here is crazy mehn.
God understands every language, I mean every language because he is supreme.
Saying one has to speak Arabic to pray, that simply means you are not praying to God Almighty if who you are praying to doesn't understand you in whatever language you are praying with.
God is Universal, God is Supreme.

Even the person who wrote that thing up there, after being educated, will be so disappointed he ever wrote such.

Then my eyes caught one of cousin's status, I was like lemme see what this babe is up to.

She's a top executive in one of these banks. I tapped her status, she displayed pics of herself shopping in a mall abroad, I could see the environment is not naija. I was like Ufuoma! Big babe! cheesy Babe is spending money. There was definitely someone at the background taking her video. After shopping and paying, she waved, smiled at the camera.

Then next video, She was in a robe, dancing to a song playing at the background, in a posh room. I guess it's the hotel where she's staying. She held a bottle of Baileys. Poured in a glass, was miming a song, seeping the baileys looking at the camera with a determined look and smile, winked and seeping her drink.
Then shaking her head again, pouring more drink into the glass, dancing slowly and smiling.

I was like wow! This is what I call freedom and enjoyment!
No stress,No Stingy guy breathing down ones neck, no hassles. She was just feeling herself.

In mind I was like this video is for guys.

For guys to know she enjoying her money without stress.

Ufuoma is really balling.

While I was out on my first date with my girlfriend, she asked me how many sibling I have, to which I replied. She then proceeded to ask the number of males and females. Then I told her I only have sisters. That moment, her face dropped because we were already Into each other, I could tell she was disappointed.

She tried to hide this, but I noticed. This was Probably because that wasn't the first time I would be getting that reaction from people especially women the moment I tell them I'm the only son of my parents.

I queried her on her sudden change of mood and she told me that she has had unfavorable relationship experiences (twice) in the past with only Sons and has vowed never to try it again. She reasoned that only Sons are too clingy to their families, overpampered, emotionally needy and dependent on their families and hardly have a mind of their own. She also accused the families of always trying to pilot the affairs of the guys even to the extent of making life changing decisions for them.

When i was young, I also had friends who thought I was pampered, showered with extraordinary love and care and that my parents can't turn down any request from me. But the truth is that I never got any special treatment from my parents. The same curtain wire, broom, hanger my mom used to whip my sisters, she also used on me.

My point is that it's unfair to lump people together and label them. If an only son happens to be clingy, it has nothing to do with his status. He would have still been that way if he had 10 brothers.
Statistically, the way they (Only son) are pampered is worse than you think.
I have a cousin who is the only son as well, when we were kids he was really pampered that if not for my own siblings love, I would have felt bad. Today, his parents regret every bit of pampering towards him, I just can't explain his behaviour here because I can't imagine doing such to my parents.

There is this preferential treatment given to only sons, it is permissible for them not to do chores, cook, our parents sometimes bring them up like a lion, and it ends up becoming a societal problem.

Many of them can hardly fix something good (I am not talking about noodles o) in the kitchen when no lady is nearby.
