Celebrities / Re: Ernest Asuzu Battles Stroke, Turns Roadside Beggar by Hedonisst: 6:24am On Jan 28, 2020 |
A few random thoughts on the matter... 1. This guy seems to have mental issues or psychological disturbance of some sort. He has been accused of psychotic behaviour numerous times, for many years now. Just look at this 11 year old Nairaland thread below for example https://www.nairaland.com/125522/what-wrong-ernest-asuzu 2. Those of you talking about investments and such are naive, sorry to say. To think that most of you are salary earning employees who know NOTHING about making a livelihood from your own private ventures. Even if Dangote 'dashes' you a N100m bounty, you could still squander it on wrong/unprofitable investments. Only career entrepreneurs are likely to excel with this. It's difficult in Nigeria. Don't get it twisted. 3. Besides, even if you invest well and avoid extravagance, life and its vicissitudes would humble you and probably disgrace you if the storm comes calling. It's not in your hands. You can only hold on to the grace of God. 4. Finally, life is overrated. Especially a life without pleasure and happiness. This is probably a controversial view, but I am adamant about it. Damn if life is hell bent on disgracing you, for the whole world to 'see you finish', then it is futile to hang on as if life is an end in itself. Grow some balls and ball out on your own terms. Take an overdose of a deadly medication, swallow sniper, slip and break ya damn head in your bathroom or something. Better to exit this meaningless merry go round with your dignity intact, than to hang in there and spend the rest of your miserable days in abject indignity. Death before dishonor is the code. Man ain't gat no time to be ridiculed by nonsense. Better people have died and continue to die daily. What are you hanging on to life for? You're not going to make it out alive anyway. 3 Likes |

If it was a poor guy from a poor family that she killed like that, the case would have been thrown out since. But we're talking about the son of a former PDP chairman who is also a big fish in the North. So for the matter na sorry be her name. 242 Likes 6 Shares |

GogobiriLalas: Read my post again, you will find that the answer to this question is rooted in my earlier comment. Abilities are not the same. No matter how hard you try, you will not achieve anything near what some people can easily achieve in certain fields. 1 Like 1 Share |

GogobiriLalas: This is neoliberalism in its most brutal form. Your arguments are plausible but life isn't always in black and white. Remember that human ability isn't equally distributed. And "ability" in this sense includes mental faculties... Motivation, 'gifts', talents, etc. Not everyone is 'blessed' equally. Yes you can say that whosoever doesn't want to hustle should go to hell, but the problem is that that would be referring to the majority. In every capitalist society, the majority actually hustle more than the minority, but their hustle NEVER translates to a decent quality of life. This has been the case since even before the Industrial Revolution till date. You MUST cater to the poor and discontented majority, whether you like it or not, otherwise the result would be chaos. That's why, in the Western world, you can never compare the overall standard of living and quality of life of capitalist behemoths to their welfarist counterparts. 2 Likes |

omohayek: The problem is that this Buhari government is populated by small minded hawks with a parochial mindset out to only achieve very self-centred short term objectives for themselves. We have never had this kind of gruesome government. And the truth is that if the Supreme Court doesn't do the needful soonest, Nigeria would bleed to death within the next four years. 3 Likes |

Nonsense. These corrupt fools are only there to exchange banters. At the end, nothing meaningful would be achieved. Stamping out the menace of Fulani Herdsmen kidnappers from the South isn't rocket science. If these useless governors and other Southern stakeholders are ready and have the POLITICAL WILL to crush these despicable Fulani animals, they know exactly what to do. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Politics / Re: Igbo Congress Blasts Buhari, Wants Miyetti Allah Declared Terrorist Organisation by Hedonisst: 4:35pm On Jun 25, 2019 |
All these media statements change nothing. Fulani Herdsmen don't read newspapers. They are not on Nairaland. They don't visit Linda Ikeji. They are in the bushes and isolated highways - from Ondo to Oyo to Benin to Enugu - wreaking havoc and causing unprecedented devastation for Southern people. These Southern groups should stop issuing meaningless press releases and start taking concrete, 'self help' action. The southerners are bloody cowards. I can't imagine an Igbo or Yoruba or Bini gang kidnapping and robbing freely in Katsina State or Sokoto State. How? Yet we fools allow these dirty Fulani bastards to encircle us and colonise our bushes, and unleash horror on us, in our own backyard. Yet these cowards (including so-called Igbo Congress and the OPC) are busy issuing useless media statements. 5 Likes |
Crime / Re: Ex-Yahoo Boy, Omotola Commits Suicide Over Frustration In Lagos by Hedonisst: 1:55pm On Jun 25, 2019 |
Well, the current structure of the Nigerian socio-economic situation leaves little room for legitimate self actualisation. Forget that some of us managed to do it the hard way, unaided, using our own devices. Most cannot and would not discover the way to earn a legitimate living that is enough to afford them a decent standard of living... Hence the reason why yahoo yahoo is the most pragmatic option for many. By the time you successfully dissuade most young guys from doing yahoo, some would end up like this (frustration and suicide), while the vast majority would channel their frustration towards other deadlier forms of criminality (kidnapping and armed robbery). Only a tiny percentile would revert to the default poverty level that Buhari's government insists that they were destined to belong - roadside tailor, 'forkanizer', bus conductor, and other menial vocations. 1 Like |

We're in trouble in this country but we don't realise it yet. Southern youths are using their brain and ingenuity to do yahoo... Mostly targeted at foreign victims. But Fulani youths are daily (in their thousands) being recruited into kidnapping, because they don't have brains. No education, no exposure, no empathy, nothing. Misfits and brutes of the most primitive kind. Even if they have 100 billion, they don't know what how to enjoy it in a cosmopolitan way, other than buying more cows, drinking more kunu and marrying more wives, and repeating their kidnapping and killing routines in the Bush. No perspective, no context, no 'enough', no worldly sense, nothing. Just brutishness without need or justification. What kind of life is this? They don't know clubs or happening joints to enjoy a sociable life, or how to floss in Dubai, or even how to set up legit businesses and blend in to normal society. They are useless to themselves and to society. Yet they want money. It is ridiculous and tragic. These beasts are less than animals. And they have seen that kidnapping is the most profitable activity ever so they're just starting sef. We're in trouble if we (the entire South) don't act NOW. Yet our Fulani led government is concentrating scarce resources on chasing after yahoo boys who aren't our problem. They are turning a blind eye to the problem of Fulani kidnappers, which is growing at an exponential level. Soon, this will be 1 million times deadlier and more prevalent than Boko Haram, across the country. We have to mount pressure on this despicable government to re-focus its priorities. Otherwise, Nigeria would soon become the most insecure and dangerous country in the world in the next 2-4 years. |

Imagine! Nigeria's criminal justice system is a big joke. Someone committed an act as grievous as currency counterfeiting, coupled with assault, and yet he was granted bail for the ridiculous sum of N200, 000? To put it in context, currency counterfeiting is the ultimate economic and financial crime, bordering on National Security in fact. And yet if it has to do with some so-called yahoo yahoo allegations without evidence and without complainants, the useless courts and daft judges would grant bail in multiple millions... Just to fleece the accused. We need serious help in this country. 22 Likes 2 Shares |
Religion / Re: Bishop Abioye: Any Man Who Doesn't Show Commitment Financially Not Safe To Marry by Hedonisst: 6:58pm On Jun 21, 2019 |
What does "financial commitment" mean according to Mr Pastor? He should have explained better.. But the fact is that this over monetisation of everything about men's suitability puts women at a disadvantage. For every financially stable guy, and let's say for every ONE guy that makes plus or minus a modest N5m annually, there are thousands of women jostling for his attention because he meets their unreasonable criteria. Okay, so you're a high class babe. A graduate of Unilag and you work in one decent firm, and you're reasonably exposed. So you think you deserve a guy with a minimum of the above-mentioned standard. But the problem is that even the low class girl from Ajangbadi with incomplete WAEC, who is still struggling to write JAMB or doing secretarial work in a one man company somewhere, is also your competitor, looking for the same guy you're looking for. Her only 'qualification' is her fine face, or nice shape, or bustiness, or yanshiness, or whatever else that adds up to the feminine appeal that is the major thing that Nigerian women have to offer Nigerian men! Your degrees and job experience matters little to most men who meet your lofty criteria. Forget what they say. That's the truth. At the end, they just want to have a sexy thing with a good character beside them,. Certificate gbakwa okwu. So with this wide net of 10,000 girls (poor or rich, graduate or uneducated) to one 'suitable' guy, how will this disequilibrium resolve itself? Entitled women go suffer well well for this Nigeria. It is happening already. I know exactly what I'm talking about. 8 Likes 1 Share |

Nigeria is now officially a police state. You arrest and parade people based on unsubstantiated suspicion, and then you thereafter investigate them "to ascertain their level of involvement in the alleged act"! One has to be very concerned about how lawless and incompetent the government and its institutions has become under Buhari's watch. 9 Likes |
