BusinessRe: Ghanaians Fear Nigerian Domination Of Economy –minister by hilli666(m): 9:45pm On May 20, 2009
shesi:
Most of you on this thread are so incredibly stupid.

I am a Ghanaian, and 99% of what is being said on this thread is pure Bullshit. First of all, Why should we open our markets to influx by inferior Nigerian goods and services when the Nigerians are not completely opening up theirs?  If you are looking to bully someone, try Togo, not the Great Nation of Ghana.

Second, Us Ghanaians dont take bullshit from anybody. A couple of years ago, when some malaysians were engaging in bad management practises in our country, we sacked them. Yes, i mean sacked. We did the same to the Norwegians who were managing a telecom company in ghana about four years ago. A group of Chinese businessmen are currently on trial in Ghana for under-hand business tactics.
Who the hell do you nigerians think you are to be immune from criticism. Nonsense.

Also, what 'good deeds' are you people talking about? What amazingly good deed has nigeria done for ghana that you all seem to talk so much about? please enlighten me cus i'm quite stumped!

From what i understand, African countries help each other when they can from time to time. But you guys talk like you have carried the whole continent on your shoulders. What Nonsense.
Do you know that the entire Nigerian independence movement was based in Ghana. When Ghana gained Independence, our first president Nkrumah, bankrolled the independence movement of several african countries, including Nigeria, whose entire independence operation was headquartered in Ghana. How did you thank us? by kicking our pregnant women and children out when they came to your country because there was a famine in Ghana.

Humility is a word that seems lost on a large number of Nigerians. Mainly the uneducated ones, as you see on this tread. Do you ever think of What other African countries have done for you?

Your government is currently begging Ghana to build a nuclear power plant in Ghana to solely supply Nigeria, because the Americans won't agree to have Nigeria handle nuclear material.

Some Nigerians have such delusions of grandeur. It's amazing! as no one can see the source of this delusion.

"We are this, we are that, our economy is big, our budget is this, and that, " Look here morons, the size of your economy, is purely a product of your population size. nothing more. if you understood economics better, you would know that the fact that the german economy is bigger than England's,  doesn't make Germany a better country than England. Infact, several germans are daily making their way to England to find better employment even though their economy is bigger. I dont have time to delve into the nuances of economics with you here. Some of you are too stupid to appreciate the concepts anyway.

"If we pull out, they will miss us"   ,  Really? lol, that is funny. because i only know of about 3 banks in Ghana that are nigerian. that's it!  3 banks.  And even one of those banks' CEO was recently arrested for consistenly depositing fake foreign currency at the central bank. that case is still pending. We can kick nigerians out today, and our economy would not even flinch.

Don't confuse notoriety with popularity. Can you give me 2 instances in the past 10 years, when Nigeria has been in the International news for something positive? lol, that's right, YOU CAN'T. Because everytime we hear nigeria, is either internet fraud, or drugs, or silly activities in their delta whatever driving up the price of oil. In essense, your country is widely regarded as a nuisance by the most of the world.

Ask yourselves why Nigerians are the only ones finding problem everywhere they go? Are you the only africans who travel? If it's not Houston, it's South Africa, or Ghana, or China, or Singapore. Why are you always in the news for all the bad reasons? Is the whole world against you somehow? Is everybody jealous of you?

lol. start looking within yourselves.

while us ghanaians know we have a long way to go and are keeping our head down and working hard and improving our country, Nigerians are happy to sit back and say they are a big country. Talking about 'our economy, our economy'. Having a big population only means you have to work that much more to provide the same basic amenities others take for granted.  Ask your brothers and sisters who have travelled around the world a bit. Just visit the caribbean and you will be amazed to see how much more advanced fellow 3rd world countries are than us. I was in Barbados recently and couldn't believe it. Go the dominican and it's the same thing.

Whoever said pride comes before a fall sure must have been observing nigeria. And you are still falling my friends. wake up.

PS. this is my buddy's account so don't kick him out or anything. lol.
First of all, let me commence by stating "you are an embarrasment to your own country". In your blind patriotism and haste for a rebuttal, you have abysmally failed to provide an agrument that is anything but devoid of logic, and quite frankly not even worthy of been categoriesed as such. First of all let me educate you on the facts. Africa as a continent, is a highly resourcefull land mass. But in that land mass there are only a hand full of countriess that have the resources to support an economy especially one that can compete in the global market. Of those hand full of countries, Nigeria is the top. Where is Ghana? I would love to ponder over my research and provide you with the cold hard facts. But that would be like "casting pearls before a swine" u wouldnt even begin to now how to handle the truth! I love u guy but only as house boys and house girls. Now run and buy me ghana bread!!
kenke eating mutaf@$kas (As u can tell I am also a patriotic Nigerian)

Okay, I have lived under Military rule, even though it was tough (they had the military code of conduct). I have also lived under civilian rule even though it was and is corrupt (i can still hope for it to get better) But what I wont tolerate is to live under rouge warlards. Nigeria can never be like somalia, I dont think we have the stomach for it. And mend is not fighting for Nigerians. they are fighting for them selfs and personal gain. In my book, they are no different for the corrupt politicians runing the country.

@hilli666, we may not like being criticised by others and yes, most of the time the arguments are somewhat selective and deliberately leave out other less negative facts about Nigeria , some of which you have mentioned. The fact is , its a free world, and people can have an opinion about any country/citizen they wish to. We have no control over that, in fact it's not our concern. Rather our concern is to make sure that the criticisms against our country and its people become less and less true.

That is the only way forward for us.
You are right. This is just such a sensitive subject for me, especially when I know how much Nigeria is doing for other Countries. But I agree with you though.
BusinessRe: Ghanaians Fear Nigerian Domination Of Economy –minister by hilli666(m): 5:42pm On May 19, 2009
You know what, In fact no body in Africa should talk about Nigeria except Nigerians. Only us have that right. Because no matter how bad and mismanaged our country is, we have done a lot (in term of providing aid and help to almost all countries in Africa) Our generosity, charity and influence is felt as far out as Mauritania, Lybia, Ethiopia and  south Africa (with their xenophobic temperance) What more do they want from Nigeria? We just recently approve a loan for $30 million to "satome and pricpe" tomorrow they would be yapping us on the international circuit. We export electricity to Ghana and other neighbouring countries, at the detriment and discomfort of our own citizens. We manufacture most of the drugs used to combat malaria and other tropical diseased in Africa. During apartheidwe used our oil to leverage and pressure the west into ending apartheid in SA, and every song from Nigeria was about free Mandela Yet look how Dem dey drag Nigerians from their office dey burn us for road like sey we be robbers.  Yes we might have corrupt officials and our system might be flawed, but only because in our bid to stand out and rise to the never ending challenges in Africa we have neglected our own citizens. SO EVERYBODY EXCEPT Nigerian should shut up!!!!!

instead of wasting our time complaining about the kofi's getting jealous of us i think we should be talking about how we wanna improve more on our economy. in the first place why cant we invest more in our economy than going all the way to Ghana thats pretty absurd there's more market pool here in Naija than Ghana, so whatever treatment we get in Ghana i believe we deserve it.
Ohh Lord! This guy what planet are u from?? The Ghanians are defaming ur country, and insuting our national intergrity. Meanwhile u see it fit  to use this opportunity and show how politically correct u are. How much loans during SAP era did we give to Ghana? They still haven't paid us back.
Maybe they should pay us back all the money they borrowed from us, lets start from there.

Before you start threatening Nigerians, here is a little statistic for u Ghanaians. Nigerian annual defense budget is $350 Million. Ghana annual defense is $30 Million dollar. Watch out before we wipe u off the map and use the whole territory of Ghana to plant Palm Oil and Co-co Yam!!. I mean it!

My friend, if you cant say no to a woman, especially one you havent even met in person, then you my friend are either amongst a small, verry unique group of people whom are destined to spend their whole life in servitude to other or, you are extremely stupid and secretly trying to get into her pants. Her on-line photos on yahoo cristian girls, must have been overtly convincing. But in saying that, there is always an ethical and spiritiual benefit in helping. Be it a boy or a girl, as long as its a fellow human, but you've done enough. So pick up the phone and call her right now!! I have giving you permision to tell her no. If she has any probs with it give her my number. (I insist) 913-555-4237!!!

Well, it is only fair that we revise our import prohibition list. I also believe that our foreign policy practises, especially to our immediate neighbours should be revisited and revised. Nigeria will be a much more economically stable country, if we promote and encourage fair trade practises between our neighbours. IMO!
PoliticsRe: Should Nigeria Give A Loan To Sao Tome And Principe? by hilli666(m): 4:29pm On May 15, 2009
Hell yeah! We should also charged them "HIGH INTEREST" like the IMF, Paris Club, and World Bank charged us in the late 70's. (We are are still paying for it. even after much of the debt has been forgiven)  So that when they default on the loan, We would now own all their land with its speculated potential oil reserves. OOHand it is a beautiful vacation spot. We should even give them more money sef! Before some corrupted politician decided to cart it away.

FYI Pidgin English, was born when early Africans or slaves tried to communicate with their colonial masters. It is a mix of different influences, but leans more to the colonial British English or Victorian English. upon close inspectin you'll be amazed how proper and accurate some of the words are compared to English in the dictionary. E.G Palaver (palava), Pickin (what the white us to refer to as negro children) vex (anger or temperance) etc pick any word in pidgin and check it out on the dictionary ull be amazed at how proper pidgin is. Others were just shortend words like "comot" derived from come out e.t.c

Oh, Where is Nigeria going. We need God intervention here
I'm  sorry, and please don't misconstrue this as an attack on your  integrity. But tell me what the heck has God got to do with it. Our contry is sliding into perpetual decay and turmoil, ubiquitous corruption in all facet of our government with a few being the exception not the rule, a fast decline civil and technological infrastructure, a sovereign nation that is far from severing judging by the amount of foreign influence, and now a police system that encourages the use of scratch cards and a determinant to whether you serve your country or not. Mind you we have been blessed beyond our wildest dreams with an abundant of resources. Still all we can do is sit and say "we still need Gods intervention?? What else do Nigerians want from God??
I say we need smart human intervention, We need to enforce and abide by rule of law, we need to stop getting pushed around by foreign influences, we need to acknowledge and instill better civil rights law and amend the sobering excuse that we call our constitution of which, we have broken every tenet including the preamble of the constitution which states if i am correct.

"We the people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria

Having firmly and solemnly resolve, to live in unity and harmony as one indivisible and indissoluble sovereign nation under God, dedicated to the promotion of inter-African solidarity, world peace, international co-operation and understanding
And to provide for a Constitution for the purpose of promoting the good government and welfare of all persons in our country, on the principles of freedom, equality and justice, and for the purpose of consolidating the unity of our people".

I think it time to give God a break and stand up for ourself with a prayer in our hearts for strength in our long arduous journey towards the much needed change our great country deserve. Wouldn't you agree?
FamilyRe: Husband Has Baby With Other Woman by hilli666(m): 2:59pm On Apr 30, 2009
When planing a family, especially raising children! both parties should always consider being the primary custodian to the child. In case of an unexpected demise of the other. In today's family, both woman and man are guilty of trying to place some kind of responsibility on the other. E.g Women expect the man to bring home the bacon, and men expect the woman to stay at home and raise the child. This setup was very reliable in the earlier stages of human societal development, where it was seen as a sociably acceptable practise, because the attainment of food in itself was a dangerous expedition e.g hunting, warring and pillaging e.t.c and hence reserved for the men, while the woman stayed at home and was responsible for all domestic affairs.
Fast forward a few thousand years. Now advances in technology and changes to civil rights law and humanitarian law, has leveled the platform between men and woman, Work is just as dangerous for both man and woman alike. In such and environment you should adjust accordingly. The only deciding factor is now education and not gender. My point in all this is, If you weren't so dependent on old ideologies you wouldn't be in such financial predicaments. If he doesn't want to take care of his son then, you move on. I also understand the emotional hurt involve and the sever feeling of betrayal that can leave you scarred for life. But as long as there is a will there is a way. Pick you self up, dust your shoulders off and hop back on band wagon. And never put you trust in a man, History tells you that we are unreliable creatures.

Like I said, "If you are a man (real man) It does not matter where you meet a girl e.g Nite club or church, She will comport to your ideals eventually. No matter how hard headed or tough she thinks. Was it not princes Diana that ended up with play boy "fayad" Or the  Woman chair man of a well know American bank the participated in a fraud for her Russian boyfriend totalling 300 million dollars, and the list goes on. Women are genetically predisposed to be submissive or attracted towards people who are more manly. It survival instinct.
RomanceRe: Why Are Guys Threatened By Outgoing Girls? by hilli666(m): 5:36pm On Apr 29, 2009
It doesn't matter, all women will end up being submissive, when they finally meet the "MAN" they want to settle down with. So if you girl is still kicking it hard and partying all the time, then chances are she doesn't  think you the right man for her yet. Even though she love you (but is not in love with you), lol

No matter how inconceivably diffrent and dynamic our opposing viewpoints might be, We should always strive to maintain focus on the topic at hand. It is only human nature to be passionate about ones self belief and opinions, but it also take a certain degree of maturity and discipline to be open and tolerant to opposing view points. Granted Oil bunkering and siphoning is an adverse and direct correlation to poverty regardless, of what the statistics say. It don't require specialization in any field to understand the in-henrent relation ship between the two. All it take is common sense.
The consequences of such act (illegal Oil Siphoning) should be judicial reprimand, enforced by local law enforcement agencies and authorities. Not Instantaneous death by fire. No one deserve to die in such a horrific and gruesome manner. No one!
TravelRe: I Think The Most Beautiful Places In Africa Are: by hilli666(m): 3:22pm On Apr 07, 2009
The difference between African continental beauty and western beauty is, the latter poses more of a natural picturesque beauty. That seems to have remained untamed over many millenia, but is slowly withering away due to human induced environmental crises. In the west however, their lands tend to be plains and bluffs (still beautiful and important to the global ecosystem, and the sustenance of life to many animal species) In the west however, where the land lacks natural beauty, men sought out to build huge monumental edifice, and dot the land with architecture that is awe inspiring, where as in Africa instead of adding to the already existing beauty, we sought to destroy it for personal gain, e.g deforestation induced by the logging industry, oil spills, the allowance of toxic waste dumping in our waters e.t.c
It is sad to also acknowledge that some of the most beautiful city's still standing in Africa, were city's originally built by our colonial master, the British, the Belgians, and the French. This is also a prime example in beautiful south Africa

Maybe we could even teach @lawyer something new. Instead we want the poor man to do everything. I am,  in lack of other words gratefull. It is very rare that one exhibits the kind of dedication and thoughtfull research that you have. Especially when the goal is to educate the group and not for personal gain. I am impressed with the mare transparency with which you write and how candidly the text were organised thus making a subject that to most seemed hitherto complex, to an easily comprehensible document. Anyways thank you.
