dexterinc2003: Cant everyone just believe in whatever they choose to believe in in and let peace reign? Christians cannot prove the presence of God Atheists cannot prove the absence of God. If Christianity never got to Africa, most Christians carrying it on their head would be worshiping their 'idols' jejely or viciously. All i know is that everyone's story is different, and there is a reason why we have different beliefs and religions. Let us try to respect everyone's belief. The white men dont carry religion on their head and they are way ahead of Africans. Love should be the only religion on earth. The Whitemen even bought our idols and exported them to their countries. Africans are the most gullible people I have ever seen. Can you imagine the fierce contest over whose religion is superior? And it really shows stupidity for one religion to claim that it's the ONLY WAY and goes ahead to proclaim so. If you carefully study the reasons behind religious crises in Nigeria, you will observe that it is largely caused by one religion trying to impose it's doctrines, tenets and superiority over the other. How can you open your mouth and declare curses on someone because they don't believe what you believe. Imagine shouting on the streets and telling adherents of another religion that "if they don't repent and follow your religion, they will die". It is alright for a Christian to quote from the bible or Muslim from the Qur'an in supporting their argument, but it is wrong to contend that yours is the general standard because there are over 4,200 religions with their books also. Believe whatever you choose to believe and do so without annoyingly berating others. Can't we just have religious tolerance? There is nobody here whose great grandfather was a Christian or Muslim but they lived in a better society than we have now. Can anybody here tell me the difference between God, Allah, Brahma, Olorun, Chukwu, Dei etc? |

2dugged: I have tried so hard to convince myself that maybe it's just my environment, maybe there are faithful married men in other parts of the country. 95 % of married Nigerian men cheat on their wives atleast once, while from the 5%, 3% have not cheated because the opportunity has not presented itself yet, and only 2% are actually faithful to their wives. I often hear statements like "men are naturally polygamous", a nairalander once said "if you can't bear your husband cheating on you, then don't get married", but I ask myself just how much do you have to bear?, a distant relative lost her life because her husband infected her with hiv, she knew he was philandering, but what could she do?,now both her and her husband are dead, it's been years, sometimes I see the kids and i just feel awful, if a man cheats, women have always have that big heart to forgive and move on,but when a man gives his wife disease, it means that man not only lacks self control but is STUPID as well This is according to which statistics? Yours I guess? |

Egbon nah English you dey speak, our 'situation' in Nigeria nor need "English", we need "Action" them nor use 'due process' collect millions of dollars as 'bribe'....... Even the judges are the major problem we have towards fighting corruption because most of them are recklessly corrupt. Was it not a seasoned judge that gave a court order to freeze the account of a sitting governor (Ayo Fayose) which was a clear constitutional violation? They needed to be served with the same meal. Seun: I'm graeful that you got lucky, but we should be thinking about what can be done to prevent other people from getting injured by similar traps. This story is suspicious. You were sent by a herbalist (aunty) to get healing leaves from the bush. Now how can a human not know that you need to put on your footwear before entering a bush? And when you felt the need to do that, you are now tellling us it was "a voice". Whose voice? Even the picture looks stage managed. |

And for that trap to still remain like that without clamping together is even suspicious because that slippers can't hold that kind of trap. Looks stage managed in my assessment. Again, I wonder how old you are, that you need a "voice" to remind you that you need a footwear before entering the bush. |

seunmsg: It is too early to come to such a conclusion. The current government still have up till 2019 to get things right. Till then, we should be optimistic. Advising Nigerians to be optimistic in this era is akin to advising a poor man to be humble as if he had another option. The only option Nigerians have is to be optimistic, but remember that these optimistic people are been buried everyday because hunger killed them. So, do you have another advice for those who are dead? |

Donpressman: I swear the way people think is gross to say the least. Especially when its a lady involved. It would have been a different story if it was the man who lied and probably his employers found out and sacked the guy from his job. The lady will say all manner of bullshit about lost trust and how she can't cope in the marriage again. All our laws and by extension how we think now is now feminist. A man is always liable but if its woman then its just a mistake that is irrelevant and should be ignore. What rubbish! The numerous disgusting comments here is just a confirmation that telling LIES to get what you want, is now a normal thing for the ladies, and this is disturbing. Telling lies to get something is FRAUD and the woman in question is a dangerous one. I even read where some people are asking the OP to sit her down and veg her to tell him the truth. This is a woman that lied and has refused to be remorseful and apologize. The most annoying thing I kept seeing here is that some people are calling it a "mistake". For God's sake, how can a premeditated lie be described as a mistake? What exactly is the definition of MISTAKE? Those of you attacking the OP, you will be lied to and deceived into marriage. And when that happens, as it will surely do, just remember this day and how you attacked this OP. |

We have more people in the Bar who should be in Ariaria market. Some lawyers are a disgrace to the legal profession.
Imagine a lawyer disregarding the Rules of Professional Conduct (RPC) and advertising on nairaland?
Please note, being a lawyer is one of the most risky decisions because, the life of any good lawyer is at stake. A lawyer in court is already an enemy to people he doesn't even know. For any sensitive case won, the lawyer has made numerous enemies who could kill him/her at any given opportunity.
In fact, some lawyers are targeted for killing because of cases they won or are handling. I have learned colleagues who are too scared to hang out or visit certain places.
The worst is, the lawyer doesn't even know his numerous enemies. |

Phonefanatic: You still don't get it probably because you haven't had a first hand experience. At first nobody threatens or inflict physical harm on this people, they make their confessions under no threat till it gets to a point where their atrocities generates a thunderstorm slap from the onlookers.
Like I said you haven't had a first hand experience and I don't expect anyone who grew in the city to know what I'm saying. I pray you, your children or someone close to you experience firsthand witchcraft if that is what is needed to clear your doubts.
I have seen 2 women making confessions while growing up. One happens to be a popular woman that fries Akara at a busy junction. She's got absolutely no record of being deranged and one early morning she sat in front of her Akara shop confessing her atrocities which was 100% witchcraft. Nobody laid hand on her nor threatened to hit her single her shop was next to the police station.
To cut the story short the police came and took this woman of which she went back to her Akara business a week later but this time no one patronized her after a horrible confession. She didn't make it pass 2 weeks before she died mysteriously. Perhaps you are thinking I am a foreigner, no I am not. In fact, I possibly might have more of such experience than you. I grew up in the village (very remote one at that) and so, I know about witches a lot. I know witches, juju and charms exist and nobody can doubt their existence because even the bible and Qur'an acknowledged their existence and efficacy. If you read through my lines carefully, you will observe that I am only educating those attackers about the position of the law, because the court pretends not to know about their existence. Read our Criminal Code Act 213(b) where the law says only the accused can prove to be a witch or not. As a lawyer, I can tell you that nobody has been able to prove a case of charms, juju or witchcraft. Anything abstract can't be proven in a court. In the instant case, I am not doubting the possibility of voluntary confession but the part of bodily harm is where I have a legal problem. |

masonkz: Submit to the husband ko. They should both submit to each other.
Using my parents as example, my mama no dey gree o She can be VERY stubborn once she knows she's right. My dad already knows this nature of hers and would wilfully concede to her point of view in order to reach a compromise. They both understand each other that way.
Heck, sometimes she would scream her displeasure on something wrong she feels my dad did. In that instant the guy go just keep quiet, cos he knows him also shouting would solve nothing.
Same thing applies when he is also angry.
The marriage has lasted for almost 30 years...
I do know that marriages can differ, but my point here is, submission can go both ways. Wetin sef. Marriage requires a good understanding of your partner. If you ask your dad, he will tell you how respectful you mother is, despite her screaming. Do you know that screaming doesn't necessarily mean being insulting? Most disrespectful and disobedient people won't even scream. |
