A famous proverb by the chinese sage Confucius says: "I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand."

Science is a practical endeavor that tasks the analytical abilities of the frontal lobes of the brain, which - mind you - is different from the brain areas dedicated to verbal tasks such as mnemonics and rote learning. If you use this methods to learn science, as the african has been doing, you cant achieve a single technological breakthrough. You will be well versed in science facts and information, but will - like our honourable minister of science and technology - be proud to announce the commencement of pencil manufacturing in Nigeria by 2019.

Long before people new the periodic table they were smelting iron from ore and producing knifes, swords, and axes; making beer from fermented grain; distilling alcohol; producing soap and paints and dyes for coloring cloth. Yet today we have chemical engineers and phd chemists who cannot make this simple substances without using sophisticated imported apparatus. But our grandmothers in village can still 'cook' soap. Our 'educated' chemists must import chemicals to produce paints but dyes were commonplace here long before the whites stepped foot on Africa. Local Blacksmiths were smelting ore into iron with crude earth furnaces, yet you tell me without imported factory you cannot produce iron.

Stop rote science. Science is a practical endeavor. You dont learn science as you will literature or history. Even history has to be enacted sometimes for it to sink in.

This is an ignorant comment. Even the River Niger at Asaba is ABOVE sea level. Asaba is also above the flood level of the River Niger. The river is at about 25m above MSL with highest flood of say 35m. Lowest level at Asaba is 42. So what are u talking about.

Conclusion: The flood is man-made, and it is a relatively recent occurence. It was not there in the 1990s and early 2000s.
