Rejoinder to the lawyers statement ripped from a friend's FB Wall: RASHIDI WAS NOT THE PROBLEM, IT IS THE PEOPLE LEFT BEHIND, INCLUDING THE LAWYER: A REJOINDER TO THE ARTICLE ON MAMA YEKINI I read this article yesterday and planned not to respond until we complete our Project Mama Yekini (PMY) here so it doesn't distract us. However, I made a rethink as it may be too late. The article was published on SR yesterday and written by Yekini's lawyer, Rashidi Mohammed. While I would have preferred not getting drawn into their family affairs and focus entirely on justifying the obvious fact that the woman needs help, it has become imperative to also set some records straight based on information available to me too. As someone experienced in projects of coordinating fund raising for like 5 years now, I knew that the first action expected of me was to VERIFY the case beyond reports in the media. Thankfully, this was easy as I'm from that part of the country and I have trusted friends here who can help us with verification. So two of our friends here, one a medical doctor, the other the Registrar of a College of Education, volunteered to do all they can to access the woman and assess the situation. They swung into action, sought approval of DPO of the area, saw a local traditional chief and uncle of Yekini. Although, a couple of people mounted resistance thinking they were men of the press, our verification team finally accessed the woman after telling them their mission, which additional promise by the medical doctor to return later to do health check to her. They came back and reported what they saw and heard. 1, The woman is obviously not in good financial state. Apart from 3 loaves of bread and few N20 biscuits that were her stock, there was nothing in that shop. There was an old, rusting, empty probably non-functional fridge. 2, The woman has an account in a local microfinance bank, but she was duped of N100k, about her last savings, by a very close person recently. I'm not mentioning names because we don't want to be drawn into their family affairs. 4, We heard about what the wives and the lawyer (the writer of that SR article) did in sharing Rashidi's inheritance, but we would prefer not to publicize it, because we don't want to be drawn into their family affairs. 5, We have information about the habit of a close person that is meant to be taking care of her. Unfortunately, it's not a character of responsibility. 5, Looking for answer to the lawyer's question on how the woman spends the rent, look no further than the above. 6, Yes, the woman is herself generous as we heard story of how she relinquished some of her meagre share in Yekini's inheritance to another family member (estranged wife, we heard) just for peace to reign. In conclusion, I agree with the lawyer that it is unfair to castigate Rashidi as he was not the problem. He took care of her when alive. As someone from that part too, I know old, unlettered women, no matter how successful their offspring are, still like petty home trading, selling soft drinks, biscuits etc. In fact, some men see that as a way to keep them active rather than staying indoor all day (when their children are in Kaduna, Ibadan, Lagos even London) and aging easily. I confirm that it's a common thing in ilu oke. I also made that shop provision for my mum when I completed my countryhome in 2013. But that Yekini's case is extreme. While it was true that she had been using that shop even when Yekini was alive and successful, the state of that shop now (3 loaves of bread, 5 biscuits and old damaged fridge) shows someone living below the basic standard of life. So the problem is not Rashidi Yekini, it is the people left behind that should have taken responsibility of the care of that woman, including the lawyer-writer, that are the problem |
God please take Baba Rahman and his sponsor away from us. See the amateur defending of this typical guruguru CHAN standard defender. Deandre Yedlin could not believe how easy it was to skin that fool for the third goal. Emenalo, please DIE!!! |
Bayelsa civil servants are being neglected by the thief Dickson. No pay for 5 months despite healthy allocation. |
Baba Rahman only taking 5 seconds to disgrace himself. Nice one Defoe and goodluck to Big Sam Allardyce. |

raumdeuter:No, from where I was watching, Villareal were ultra-serious, flying into vicious tackles every few minutes and copping multiple yellows and even a red card. They were ultra serious. Liverpool just made them look like El-Kanemi Warriors in comparison. |
homesteady:More to the point, you should be ashamed that a midtable EPL team just sodomised your 4th place La Liga team so badly from start to finish, I thought I was watching Barcelona vs Wikki Tourists. You mean to tell me that crap of a team is 4th in Spain? |
raumdeuter:This means nothing. Even on the odd occasion EPL teams send out big names, the big names don't care about the competition. You need to live in UK to understand. It's part of the culture here to disregard Europa League. Everyone feels the same way from the fans to the players. For one, those players don't want to be playing Thursdays and Sundays. If you play EPL on Sundays you can't be competitive unlike Laliga where it's their culture to play on Sundays. Even in the press they will be bombarding you with info on how Liverpool have failed to win 60% of their EPL matches on Sundays straight after Europa Thursday game. The players just want to crash out early as possible, that's if the manager doesn't field kids. EPL is too physically straining to play 2 hard games every week. This is not Laliga where Sevilla will take Thursday match serious then put on slippers and cruise through Sunday game against Las Palmas at slow Spanish siesta pace. To sum it up, La liga teams treat Europa how Nigeria treat Under 17 and Under 20 World Cup, whereas European federations don't give a phuck about those underage tournaments. It pays more $ for an EPL team to finish one position higher in the EPL table than to advance an extra round in Europa League. Why should they give a phuck about it? |
raumdeuter:Which stats? Ogbeni shift jare. |
raumdeuter:Dem done catch you. |
Debroslink:Valencia was two years in a row la liga Champion at the time, not Spurs level. You claim Villareal made semi of UCL being a 4th place team. . . .negro, when Liverpool and Chelsea won the UCL, they were not in top 5 of Premier League. Leave all those yarn from 15 years ago. Laliga 4th and 5th place teams cannot compete in UCL like their English counterpart. Na to carry Europa flex wey no concern English teams. If Spurs meet Villareal or Sevilla in UCL next season, they would murder them. But if na Europa I know say no shaking, Spurs go troway game. |
raumdeuter:For your dream. Those bottom English clubs are housing some of the best players from other leagues eg the top assisters in France like Kazri and Max Gradel. When the likes of Federico Fernandez and Salomon Rondon outgrow La liga midtable teams and are even nearing stardom level in Laliga, one bottom English club will just close eye and bring them to EPL to be another squad player. How do you expect players from Levante and co whose little £1k per week salary payment is delayed worse than Osun State civil servants to come and compete with Max Gradel and co on an empty stomach? |
Debroslink:This is semifinal, not 2nd round or QF. Villareal were just not on the same level and were battered from pillar to post from minute 0 to 90. Infact, Swansea and Stoke would play a better game than that nonsense they put up. To buttress my point about all these cheap Europa wins that La liga use to claim their league has depth, we saw what happened to Valencia and Sevilla in UCL this season. Even ninjas like Genk were bullying them. If Spanish league is so fantastic, I would expect the traditional 4th and 5th team to do well in the competition. We saw the only time Spurs qualified for UCL, they went straight to the quarter final, hammering the likes of Intermilan on the way. Same Spurs team that cant even make quarterfinal of Europa will miraculously reach latter stages of UCL on their first attempt. It is obvious that Spurs have bigger fish to fry than Europa that the likes of Sevilla are delighted to compete in. |
raumdeuter:The only thing in argument here is top 5-8, and it is clear even in England here that no one values the competition from the public to the clubs to the players themselves. And the no1 culprit of this is Spurs, the habitual English resident of that competition who show utter disdain for the tournament. The £5m on offer will not change Spurs life, but it will change that of their Spanish equivalent Sevilla. Even after Sevilla, Valencia and co are finished competing for that tourney, you will see Spurs and Liverpool rip their best players like Federico Fazio, Bobby Soldado, Alberto Moreno and those same players will come and flop in England. As for bottom half, that is clear. Regional teams like Eibar, Levante, Almeria etc with 6000 seater stadiums can never compete with their English counterparts. |
raumdeuter:Put Bournemouth and co against Las Palmas, Deportivo, Granada, Levante etc they will beat them 80% of the time. My argument is: Top 3 - La liga hands down Positions 4-8: EPL would win if they take it serious. Blame this on Spurs who keep hogging that position and fielding kids and subs in Europa while prioritising holy grail of 4th place. Bottom half: La Liga na complete wash. The level of competition and week in, week out struggle is tougher in the EPL. |
emekakelvin:Beyond the top 3 Spanish teams, the rest of the league could not stand their English equivalents jf their English equivalents decide to take it serious. And even beyond Villarreal, Malaga, Bilbao, Sevilla, Celta and Valencia, the rest of the league lacks strength in depth. |
4th place Spanish team getting hammered to sege vs midtable EPL team. This is what happens when EPL teams take Europa seriously. Same way Chelsea took it serious in 2013. |

ollah1:Same Barca team won UCL 2 years earlier with Rijkaard, the Galatasaray, Saudi Arabia and Sparta Rotterdam flop. Abeg comot dia! |
ollah1:Come back to me when Pep can win UCL with likes of Porto and Inter. He disgraced himself tactically in 2014 and 2015 UCL semis and got hammered with rugby scores. While Pep was disgracing himself in 2014 UCL, his very same Bayern players were bullying the world at the World Cup. Without Messi and co, Pep is just one of a bunch of good managers, not Jesus. |
azpekuliar:I'm 3 moves ahead of you nigga. Your season ends this gameweek!!! |
Alago Boateng loses the game for Bayern with headless chicken pressing
|
Hehehehehe. Omo see tackles. The thing dey pain these Spurs players.

Commiserations to my brothers lalaboi and Griffon, but only one Chelsea nigga was built for this FPL ish and that's Mpakaboari Jack-Daniel! |
Phuck all y'all. Hazard surely knows how to keep his name in the headlines. Best way to end a poor season. |
Delta done suffer. I no see any medical equipment there except Hospital bed. So Governors in Nigeria now commission medical consumables. These are even items donated by a charity to Delta State. These Governors know Nigerians are fools. |
Brightgem:Neither. The correct spelling is virtuous. |
Exactly what I said and saw since summer. I said all year that Mourinho has been in a foul mood with his players all year due to arguments with Emenalo. That slimy cúnt Emenalo cannot work with his managers, he is only interested in dictating to them, despite knowing nothing about building a team. http://www.espnfc.co.uk/club/chelsea/363/blog/post/2862572/antonio-conte-has-huge-task-in-reviving-chelsea-after-a-wretched-season Mourinho's downfall was previewed by a series of unsubtle hints of dissatisfaction at transfer business. Names like Papy Djilobodji and Michael Hector, players signed in August and who played a total of two minutes for the club between them before being loaned to Werder Bremen and Reading respectively, will forever be associated with a summer window that opened up battle lines between Mourinho and sporting director Michael Emenalo. That internal conflict contributed heavily to a discontent that the Portuguese deflected on his players, who eventually seemed to stop playing for him. |
MaziOmenuko:Tell that to the birds my nigga. FA Cup Semifinal loading. |
Nice one Giyaz. Smooth flows and great delivery. |
1 in 5 Africans is Nigerian. So 5 nominations out of 30 is underperforming. Meanwhile why Tonto Dikeh husband no dey this list? If na all this local award him go push buttons to win young CEO of the year. But if na Forbes wey dey investigate your source of wealth well well, he no follow. |
diggz:I'm with you sha but that money too good. I doubt Willian's ability to create and score goals which is what I'm looking for from my AMs. If Conte is allowed to fully implement his style, then the midfield will bear the burden of the hardwork and there will be less need for "hardworking wingers". . . . . |
