Ukliving: There is no right or wrong answer to this. Some will agree that you are being crazy for not grabbing the sponsorship ‘opportunity’ with both hands, while some would argue that ‘at what cost’? From your tone, it seems you do not want to sacrifice your family for the fast track ILR. While I agree that not every opportunity is an opportunity, my advice for you would be to sit down with your other half and agree what’s best for your family. If you could get 2 job offers at the same time now, you will certainly get another one with sponsorship close to home - sooner or later. See these 2 offers as your stepping stone - each has one advantage over the other - so the question you should ask yourself is which of the 2 do you want to take as a stepping stone to what you really want? England for a few months to start the ILR clock or Scotland for a few months to get UK work experience and boost your chances of getting one with sponsorship locally? Whatever decision you make is not crazy - they are both valid and sensible - you just need to decide based on what you believe is best for you and your family, given the circumstance. PS: if you take the one without sponsorship and perform really well on the job and decide to leave after a few months due to sponsorship, chances are they will offer you the sponsorship to keep you. And if they don’t, it’s their loss! Finally, you will receive advice from people based on their own circumstance and what matters to them. What you make of it, is entirely up to you. 32 Likes |

dustydee: Good point! All, not most. All 3pm league matches on Saturday are not allowed to be broadcast live on tv in the UK. |

hardbars: You are welcome. The bundle I just described is over £100pcm (maybe £85 on time-limited promo) and is the one-stop shop that I could think of. Getting BT Sport alone will not give you access to domestic matches unless your intention is to keep the Sky football on NOW, which I think is only available on mobile devices rather than on the telly. |

hardbars: If money is not a problem, you could get Virgin Media’s sport bundle (with Sky Sports and BT Sport). Domestic matches (EPL, EFL and the Cups) are mainly aired on Sky Sports (a few are on BT - mainly the Saturday lunchtime fixtures) while European games (UCL, UEL, UECL, La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1, etc) are exclusive to BT Sport and are all in HD - you could choose between HD and SD for Sky Sports. The bundle also takes care of your broadband needs, landline, SIM contract, cable tv, etc. However, it is not cheap! 1 Like |

@Chreze Trust all is well? You’ve been unusually quiet since you informed of your household contracting Covid. I hope you all have fully recovered? Sending you and yours love and best wishes. 8 Likes |

Darsty99:I’m not an elder, nor am I in the health and social care sector but I think the one with wellbeing and mental health would be broader in scope and therefore offer more opportunities in terms of job prospect. It’s the old specialist vs generalist debate, which largely depends on what you really want. Comparing the curriculum for both programmes should give you an indication of what to expect and which aligns more with you career aspirations. 2 Likes 1 Share |

IvanCardozo: You should be fine with that budget in Sunderland. Rents are relatively cheaper up north compared to the south. £1k budget pcm should be more than enough, and the £2k could even last 3 months. However, sustaining yourself after the funds run out in 2 or 3 months is another story. 3 Likes |
