omoola007: This is so wrong and misleading. Tell me that all the yoruba are one ethnic group/tribe yet adamawa and bornu have like 20 ethnic groups each. Truth is that there are far fewer ethnic groups than we claim in Nigeria. There maybe varying dialect of languages and slight culture variations. But most of these tribe/ethnic groups are 50-60% Hausa, igbo, Yoruba super majority. As and example, I am Ijebu from sagamu and we speak a dialect of Yoruba that an Awori or Ibadan person would not understand. However we speak what I term modern Yoruba which most yorubas can speak and understand.
Stop dividing this country!!! if your whole ethnic/tribe does not cover 100square kilometres of more. Find a super majority to join. Don't forget you local/neighbourhood dialect or culture but don't claim a separate ethnicity. Imagine you saying and Ijebu and an Egba person are different ethnic groups. I don't understand a lick of Egba language nor do i know all their culture but I cab speak Yoruba to anyone in Abeokuta with no problem. And we share more than 60 % cultural/ethnic similarities. Correct 3 gun shots for you (My bullet finish if not i for give u standard 21) |

Beaf: Lagos silent? Blood flowed freely and there were fires everywhere.
Dude, I rioted in Lagos as a student. We faced down amoured cars and many were shot dead. Helicopters flew above, making announcements and dropping teargas bombs. Still, we bloody closed down Ikorodu road, we even played soccer on it during lulls. Todays youth are too cowardly and blighted by ethnic bigotry to see beyond ethnicity and fight for the collective rights of Nigerians, [b]all they do is scream/b]. We were inspired by Gani and fired by Soyinka. abeg we know the screamers who at the end no dey do ish, dont lump us together biko |

proO1: Apparently, it is fallacious to claim that "Igbos like money too much and can sell their conscience for it" - now we know Yorubas like money probably more, just that they are much better at pretending not to like it that much. One thing is clear: Everyone has a price (including Olu Falae, never mind his empty braggadocio). As far as Nigeria is concerned, the lure and allure of money trancends ethnicity. I believe Al-Mustapha 100%. As breeze don blow, fowl yansh don open. hit the nail in the head, Yoruba and their holier than thou attitude sef, How many prominent Yoruba millionaire/billionaire whose money is free from controversy? Hausa like money Igbo like money Now we know the biggest pretenders of them all like money too |

some are in denial "na lie" some are reasonable "hmm its possible cos ego can make people misbehave"
Well at least we all know that there is nobody above ego in this LAND,
Seanet01 are Yoruba people above money that you are there arguing like your life depended on it, True or not true your argument shouldn't be 99% of yoruba leaders cant do such a thing cos all of them if u like it to begin with all started with illicit ego from Abiola to obj to adenuga to tinubu to even ooni sef (back in the day the military junta use to shower them with cars and the like to sharap)//
Moral of the story: Nobody is bigger than ego whether na igbo Yoruba or hausa or ijaw, or oyibo sef |

Politics › Re: No Going Back On Islamic Banking, Says Sultan by igboboy1(m): 9:56pm On Jul 29, 2011 |
LFJ: I am beginning to see the reason why we are having problem as a nation, where is the hope when we cannot tolerate each other? If it is not Muslims vs. Christians, it is Hausa vs. Ibo or Yoruba. Must we fight all the time? My own religion or my own tribe is the best mentality is becoming a curse to our national progress. I fear for our future with this type of mentality. Why not think of how we can make life better for our generation and the coming one rather than thinking of what we divide us.
We leave the main issue and started to chase shadow, let us look at what they are selling to us rather than the name first, must every issue be viewing from tribal or religion perspective? Why not look at the merit of each issue?
In the last election, most of us voted not because we believe in the capability of who we voted for but because this is our turn, this person is a Muslim or Christian. For how long are we going to continue like this? Why not respect your neighbor for whoever he chooses to worship, and leave him to his creature? Who told you that your religion is better than the other, or your tribe is the best.
Whether Islamic or Christian banking, the first thing I think should come to the mind of a reasonable person is to ask himself, how this policy is going to affect my life. The more we think logically the better for our future, we can never move forward as a nation until we decided in our individual mind that we want to leave in peace with each other. Discussion |
