ceysaga: Oga Ikenna you like to dey find my trouble abiYou see am. It's not suppose to exceed 35 psi. Poor tyre! ![]() Ikenna. |
Op, The smell is likely coming from your AC evaporator. That's the only AC component i can think of that could cause that. Probably, caused by bacteria that formed on the evaporator. I don't know if the problem is peculiar to Toyota, but i do know i have not experienced it in any of my Peugeots or heard of such issue in Peugeots. I could be wrong, though. But i have read a lot of similar complaints from other brands. The best way of removing the odour is to bring out and wash the evaporator off the car. But trust me, evaporator is not something you would want to tamper with. But i believe if the car has auto climate control and you have been making use of it, this problem wouldn't have started, i think. As long as air is passing through the fins of the evaporator, it will always remain with, if the pollen filter is clean and doing it's work. My windows dont come down. The blower is always on. When weather is cold enough, i use the outside air and switch off the compressor. When the outside temperature gets hotter, the compressor comes on. I don't recall the last time i have cleaned inside my cars, since the windows are permanently closed/up, that is, no room for dust to enter inside the car. Anyway, if you have some bacteria spray killer or something of that nature, spray into the face vents on the dashboard. Also, get to the engine, pull out the pollen filter, switch on the blower (AC or compressor off) and spray in the whatever you have that can kill bacteria, while the blower is on. It will suck the spray and push them onto the AC evaporator. If it's smells like freon, you should know. In that case, the AC will stop chilling when the gas gets low. I can't think of any other thing that could cause that. Let's hope others have better solution(s). Good luck. Ikenna. |
winzy: MY CAMRY 1998 PRODUCES FOUL SMELL WHENEVER I SWITCH THE AC ON, SMELLS LIKE A DEAD RAT OR SOMETHING, I HAVE WASHED THE ENGINE BUT STILL PERSISTS, ANY SUGGESTION AND HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED..... THANKS IN ADVANCE.Please, modify your post. It violates the rule 11 of the forum. I will be forced to enforce the rule next time I visit this thread. Thanks. Moderator. |
Ola one: Please, move this topic in here:I have made the request from fellow moderators in Politics section. It will soon be moved to this section. Thanks. Moderator. |
Moderators, Could you please move this thread below to proper section, Car Talk. https://www.nairaland.com/1461039/external-airbags-could-available-before#18492746 Thanks. Ikenna |
me2me: It was discovered that the refrigerant was low and a top up resolved it and the ac now chills in the afternoons. The Problem is yet not resolved if the leak was not traced and fixed. Soon, the problem will resurface, unless you are ready to be regassing the system each time it gets low. It could last you months before it gets low again, which in that case, won't be a bother. But it could as well last only days or few weeks, which can be very frustrating. Ikenna |
Gee2728: Have a personal opinion about buying BMW, pls house its personal so I dnt expect any backlash.People don't buy 7 series for sports, but luxury. It's like asking why one would buy a Benz S- 600 instead of C-280. It's like asking why would one build castle just to live in, instead of 3-bedroom bungalow. Taste changes the more our wallets smile back at us. We upgrade our lifestyle as we prosper. Most of them that have 7 series in their driveway do have other economy vehicles. If you stay in Abuja, you will realise that there is nothing wrong owing such luxurious vehicles, as long as you can afford and maintain them without eating deeply into your income and savings. AL4 issues: Solutions that could work I have posted provided this information before. But I needed to post it again, with update. So if your AL4 is having similar issue in the quoted post below, try the solution in the post. It could solve the problem. But you may have to source for the fluids mentioned outside the country. jae656: AL4 Auto issue - finally smooth shifting! 26th June, 2013. jae656: 4th September, 2013.Source: http://www.aussiefrogs.com/forum/peugeot-forum/105534-al4-auto-finally-smooth-shifting.html Ikenna. |
Honeyhill: Tanks. Pls do u have anybody's contact in ABA I can call to get itIf that transmission can be as cheap as 30-35k in Abuja, I wonda why it wouldn't be cheaper in Aba. What about Mgbuka-Obosi? Don't you have any contact there? Ikenna. |
ceysaga: I bought a tire inflator last week and inflated my flat tire myself yesterday. I was so pleased with myself because I didnt call any guy to help me. Howz that?Hmm! Am impressed. But then, hope you didn't over inflate the poor tyre? ![]() Ikenna. |
Acelifted: IK, Thanks. You ve spoken correctly. I followed your advise. You do well.Ok. So, what exactly did you do then? Replace the engine with an identical I4 engine? Or you carried out the conversion from I4 to V6 properly as advised ? Ikenna. |
The speed of the crank will tell you if starter is the culprit or not. If the crank speed is ok, look elsewhere.. |
Your query is not clear enough. Is it the brake light at the car tail or brake warning light/bulb on the instrument that is lit? Ikenna. |
Some days ago, a house member visited me with his newly purchased 406 stick with EW12 engine. I test drove it and WOW! The car would fly off at every small flex of throttle pedal. If not that i knew what was under the hood, i would think it was a V6. I strongly recommend it for anyone who wants a powerful petrol D9, but is scared of V6. Lol! The engine torque at low rpm is wonderful. Not that the engine has 170 hp, which is the same hp my 505 V6 has. An impressive technology ! Ikenna. |
It's not only in Gudu market that you can get the 5W 20, 5W 20, etc. It's also available at Utako spare parts Plaza, beside Utako market and Ekeson Motor Transport station. But you guys need to be careful. Quality should be your main concern and not just any can with 5W 20 or 5W 30 stamped on it. If you are not sure of the brand, walk away. Even the quality brand, how are sure what is on the label is what is inside? How are you sure it's not "akuraku" ? Like I said, shine your eye! Ikenna. |
roosebolton: It's actually not a Peugeot, perhaps we can discuss this backstage so as not to distract from the theme of this thread? if you could drop me a form of contact? pleaseUnfortunately, I only deal with Peugeot spare parts dealers/sellers. They are the only ones i have their contacts, including one Volvo used part seller at London line. My contact is in my signature. Ikenna. |
roosebolton: Mr IK Abeg am new in Abuja and would appreciate if you could recommend to me trusted spare parts dealers where I can get good used parts.. Apo is a jungle and most of the folks I met when last I was there are clowns. Would be nice to meet a good spare part dealer who knows his onionsIt depends on which vehicle? If it's Peugeot, what model of Peugeot you use? Ikenna. |

aikerism: I wanted to change my W202 fuel filter and this was brought after the mech placed a call... I took a pic of it but when he came out from under the car he rejected this and said they should bring one that has a certain number on it. When that one was brought it was looking exactly like this one buh he claimed there is a difference. My Baby uses the same filter. Last time I replaced mine, I bought it, I think, N800 or 1k from the same APO, MB line, beside France line. Though, a different brand. So, either i bought a fake one or you were cheated. Lol! Ikenna. |
wisesystem: thanks alot for all your trouble. In the past two days I ve tried three used abs sensors and they were all faulty. While the mechanic was removing the initial sensor of my car, I noticed how difficult it was to get the sensor out and I think that accounts for the many faulty used abs sensors in the market. Would have loved to send for one from Abuja but my experience has thought me one has to be close enough to be able to return it if it fails.meanwhile one of the guys in the only Peugeot dealership inmakurdi has offered me a used one for 7000k which I LL try dis morning. Will keep u posted thanksRemoving 406 ABS sensor from the wheel hub can be a pain. The Allen bolt holding the sensor on the hub usually rust and would brake when trying to remove the sensor. And that would make whoever that is doing the job to pull out the hub and take it to a welder to weld the broken bolt out. It can be very time consuming and stressful, I tell you. Did the mechanic check the teeth on the hub/disc which the sensor is suppose to sense when wheel is spinning? If the teeth is covered with mud or rusted out, the sensor won't be able to sense the spinning of the brake disc and may report to the ABS ECU as faulty sensor. The teeth should be clean and good enough for those sensors to work. Ikenna. |
wisesystem: thanks a lot for the update, am not into over speeding and not hoping to travel anytime soon. So l LL just use the car like that for now. Looks like the abs sensor rarely gets faulty and that accounts for the scarcity of the part unlike most other sensors. Had to settle for a used one yesterday for 4000k and after all the stress removing the factory fitted one, the used one didn't solve the issue as the fault reappeared on the screen. Hard to believe the four sensors won't exceed 5000k though else it means auto part sellers in makurdi are really having a field day. Kindly confirm the cost anytime u go by gudu market please. Thanks for the Info once again...Myself, I was surprised when the guy told on the phone that "New" ABS sensors cost 5k. So, I called him yesterday to be sure he heard me right. Hmm! He said he didn't understand what I meant by ABS sensor. So he gave me a price of something he thought could be the sensor I was referring to ABS sensor. This people eh! Usually, I go to the part shops with the failed part or show them picture of the part in my phone, because most of them, if not all, don't know these injection sensors/components by their true names. For example, they know oxygen sensor as Exhaust sensor. Anyway, from what I gathered yesterday, he doesn't have it. Don't mind him! And it appears new ABS sensors are not that available over here too. Though, I didn't go to the market. I made the enquiry through phone. They seem to have only used ones. I called ASD Motors this morning, few minutes ago. The store guy said it cost 28k per a pair (a pair is the 2 fronts or 2 rear sensors). Though, he said it's out of stock for now. But will order for one, if interested. Good morning. Ikenna. |
Dsannin: is that a mineral oil the total quartz ?Shagati, I hope we are not derailing your thread? Though, you asked a related question about mineral oil. Quartz 5000 (20W 50) is a mineral oil. Quartz 7000 (15W 50) is semi-synthetic oil. While Quartz 9000 (5W 40) is fully synthetic oil. All are TOTAL products and available in Nigeria. Ikenna. |
Thanks dearie. How long do you use it(TOTAL Quartz 5000 20W 50) before the next oil change?
Twice a year (every 6 months) or 7,500 km. Ikenna. |
Thanks dear, but what about the effect on the engine, unlike the synthetic oil of say 0w40, 5w40 0r even 10w40, or 5w30?
I don't know about other engines, but i do know that my ZN3J smiles when fed with TOTAL Quartz 5000 20W 50. The look of the oil when flowing out of the oil pan (during oil change) speaks a lot how good it is for the engine and good job it does in cleaning the engine. Mistakenly, i switched to TOTAL Quartz 7000 15W 50, in the last oil change. But am switching back to 20W 50. Though, 10W 40 was recommended for the engine, but "negligible " was included. From what i have gathered from other users of the engine, it runs perfectly whatever good oil thrown at it. So, i can only speak for the one i know. Ikenna. |
wisesystem: Hi house. Scanned my lion yesterday to solve an abs fault poping up. P2000 revealed a faulty left rear wheel speed sensor. Sadly I can't find it here in makurdi and may have to source from jos or Abuja. In the main time I still have to move around. Hope its relatively safe? Thanks. You can own and run a car without making use of the ABS for years. ABS usage only comes up when in an emergency situation. ABS is there to prevent you from hitting an object in an emergency situation, by steering away without the wheels locking. ABS function is not to reduce the stopping/braking distance. When ABS malfunction, your brake still work as conventional brake, which is good enough. But ABS has it's advantage over conventional brake system, though. Over here in Abuja, a set of 406 ABS wheel sensors (4 of them) is about 5k, I think. Ikenna. |
Ha! Which one be "automatic automatic" and "automatic manual" ? Abeg, no make me laugh my eyes out. I dey office abeg. Ikenna. |
I would advice you to quickly go and revert the fan to it's original connection. The days of that engine is numbered, if you continue to run that car with it. Also, get ready to be replacing that fan every now and then with that connection. They were not designed to spin constantly and on that noisy speed. You are simply killing the fan's motor and the bearing. Your engine is suppose to run hot, for the engine to last long. So, your bonnet should feel warm and not cold. Ikenna. |
Shagati: Oil replacementWell, I may not know much about engine oil, but I do know that the Mineral Oil 20W 50 also acts as detergent in the engine, aside lubricating the engine. A good 20W 50 Mineral Oil should always clean off yama-yama inside the engine and leave the engine clean. Ikenna. |
IdaraCHODB: I posted a comment under this thread https://www.nairaland.com/1437717/use-speed-limiters-way-out to encourage further debate but was banned by the Antispam bot, what exactly did I post that was wrong?I think it was because you posted so many links in one post and the Anti spambot mistakenly took as spam and banned you. I didn't see that until now. Sorry. But please, next time, reduce the number of links you paste in a post. Moderator. |
