raumdeuter:On Rashford’s missed penalty…… In the screenshot below, taken right before impact with the ball, you can see that Rashford’s planted foot (his left foot) and his hips are pointed to the right side of the goal. Normally the goalkeeper tries to wait for the plant foot to hit the ground before making their own move, because the striker’s planted foot and hips generally dictate the direction of the shot. This is one of the clues that can help turn the odds in the goalkeeper’s favour to make a save. And while each player has different signs as to the direction of their kick as they approach the ball, the indications here were quite strong that Rashford would be shooting to the right side of the goal. It wasn’t until the final moment when Rashford tried to whip his hips around to pull the ball across his body and into the bottom left corner. The difficulty level for this technique is 10 out of 10. Donnarumma got sold completely.

raumdeuter:Rashford overcooked his penalty - he was so unlucky to have missed it. What he did to Donnarumma was filthy. The hip deception was heavenly. You are absolutely spot on with top players not having a constant method of taking their penalties. They change it cos they have a variety of options in their ammo to take one. This is Fernandes’ shot map on penalties. What will a GK coach note say about this? Dive left or right? ![]()

Expert17:10 excellent penalties. Go and watch them again. Even their GK’s pen is better than anything Italy offered in the final. They were hooking it in the top bins. Expert17:Different opponents, different stakes. Pickford wouldn’t have saved any in Europa final and United would have certainly lost the 2nd leg against Roma if Pickford or Henderson was in goal. Expert17:In other words, the GK coach note is unreliable. ![]() Mourinho has been managing for almost 20 years now. He was telling us the only player he knows that is consistent and trains every time to pick a particular spot in penalties is Harry Kane. He said others change their minds in the run up. And when you look at the previous shots taken by penalty takers, you see their shots scattered all over the net. There has never been a penalty taker that concentrates on one spot. Therefore, even the GK coach note is a guess at best. It’s not set in stone. |
Expert17:Poorly taken penalties. Why didn’t he save all the 5 penalties then? Which GK coach note could save Maguire’s penalty? Stop believing in this drivel about coach notes. 90% of players change their mind in the run up before kicking the ball. It all depends on the GK’s posture and mind games. |
Obere4u:Oh wow. I must have missed that. Get Emi Martinez then from Villa. I am not buying the Dean Henderson hype at all. He’s going to ruin next season for United. |
Oasis007:Donnarumma is a free agent. You would expect a club with ambition to be all over him by now - trying to work out a deal. Varane is probably using United to get an improved wage package. I don’t see him coming to United. |
patrickmuf:Southgate is as useless as Ole but he is likable and the media love him. He was rewarded for failing at the last World Cup. He would probably be knighted by the Queen tomorrow for his shambolic in-game management in the final. |
patrickmuf:Ole and Southgate are twins separated at birth. The same idiötic tactics Ole deployed in the Europa final was what Southgate did. Southgate waited too long to unleash his subs at normal time to wrestle the game away from Italy. He waited until the last minute of the extra time phase to bring on Rashford and Sancho(saved them for the shootout). If he had unleashed the duo on the Italian defence that was tiring and carrying few yellow cards, England could have won in normal time. |
odizeey:Maguire should win the PL like Rio, Vidic, Evra, Neville Brothers, Da Silva Twins, Evra, O’Shea, etc have done. I don’t give a shït about England. I support United and the club I support pay the wages of Maguire and Shaw. Their loyalty and dedication should be Man Utd first and foremost before England. Shaw has been bragging about town that Mourinho bullied him and held him down. Let him prove Mourinho wrong by winning trophies under a manager(Ole) that isn’t bullying him or shackling his talents. It’s been 3 years under Ole now and Shaw has nothing to show for it. He won 3 trophies under the bully but he’s won a grand total of 0 trophies under the progressive, ultra attacking manager. I am waiting. ![]() |
Expert17:Let them win it at Man Utd. I hate when players cut corners to glory. If Maguire/Shaw had won the Euros, they would have been difficult to replace or sell. Each time Maguire touch the ball in the PL, they would always attach European champion to his name. Who has time for such crap? ![]() This is the best outcome for every football fan in the world. |
odizeey:I want them to lose. England fans have turned my entire community into Kandahar. They are a bunch of unruly idiöts. This is why no country prays England qualifies for any international competition. Their fans are animals at home and monsters away from home.
|
nani667:Thanks for keeping this agenda going. ![]() |
elampiro:What did you win? United’s last meaningful victory was Europa final in 2017 and Pogba scored in that game. I don’t understand how you people can say you are winning without a trophy in 4 years. The standards are on the floor. |
Expert17:Nope! Match would have been won at normal time with De Gea. De Gea would have saved the Shaqiri shot. ![]() |
Expert17:United shouldn’t be relying on De Gea’s spot kick to win a competition against Villarreal. Mbappe is a striker - one of the hottest assets in the world whose main craft is shooting into the net. De Gea is a goalkeeper. I don’t understand these comparisons. If United have to rely on their goalkeeper’s kick to beat the 7th best team in Europe they don’t deserve to win the trophy. It’s what it is. |
Expert17:I don’t blame you, I blame Mbappe and Lloris(soft mitts). |
BARAJ92:Unnecessary holding on to the ball? Where? How? Pundits are applauding his passing range throughout the tournament but you blame Pogba for doing what he was supposed to be doing. France couldn’t progress because Mbappe had a shit tournament. One of you guys alluded that Mbappe is 500 miles ahead of Haaland. Pogba is too good to be playing for Man Utd. Some of the line breaking passes Pogba attempted in this tournament were as good as anything I have seen from Xavi or Iniesta. He was cutting defences apart with laser guided passes.
|
96forever:He was France’s best player by a mile. |
nitrogen:Rashford that cannot even start for England? Mbappe had a horrendous tournament but he will learn from this. I saw legends like Platini, Zico, Baggio, etc miss penalties in clutch moments. It happens. |
I guess De Gea kept for France. ![]() How come French goalie didn’t save a single penalty? ![]() Didn’t he read the instruction of where the penalty takers would place their pens? |
TrebleChamp:Give him Ndidi, buy quality defenders(Ramos just became free agent at Madrid) and the rest will be history. With France, Pogba drives a Ferrari. At United, he drives a 1977 VW Beetle and you expect the same performance? I wouldn’t be driven or motivated to play well if my team mates in the midfield are McTominay and Fred. What’s the point? Look at Mbappe openly humiliating PSG chairman. Kylian wants to know the calibre of players PSG are bringing in before committing himself to the club.
|
TrebleChamp:No problem. He won’t get his flowers or credits until he leaves and starts performing at a higher level for another club. We have seen what Lukaku has become since leaving Ole. We would come back and discuss Pogba in the same manner after a couple of seasons elsewhere. The Glazers will pocket the bulk of his transfer fee and sign Sam Clucas from Stoke to fill Pogba’s role. ![]() |
Panther7:He doesn’t even trust the yoot. The fool waited until extra time to make subs - against a Villareal side that finished 7th in Spain. Ole is a lunatic. ![]() |
They said Pogba is finished. ![]()
|
Panther7:Had Ole asked for one in the last 30 months, he would have gotten one. The fool went to go and drop £40m on Van de Beek. Another €50m on Amad/Pellestri. That’s £85m wasted. £85m could have bought Ndidi, Kessie, Witsel. |
Panther7:It’s not like Ole was dead in the last 30 months. This is Ole’s 6th transfer window and his common sense cannot tell him that McFred in the midfield is inadequate to win a league title? ![]() Odunharry:MOTM performance. This performance tonight was even better than the World Cup final. Kante should be the unsung hero though. |
nitrogen:Anything to excuse Ole’s incompetence. ![]() |
Panther7:Why is Ole playing McFred then when their collective output is that of one defensive midfielder? Ole has been at United for almost 3 years. It’s no longer an excuse that he cannot mirror France’s shape in the midfield to get the very best out of Pogba. |
CrystalTiger:Because Ole is useless. Pogba is schooling Kroos with ease. I also noticed he doesn’t showboat in a French shirt. He keeps it simple and finds a team mate to pass it to. Pogba has been excellent in this game. If Ole has any common sense left in his Scandinavian head, he should be signing Ndidi right now to carry the water for Pogba next season. |
Mrviktor:Because Ole is a loser. Any other manager(in Ole’s shoes) would have brought Haaland to Old Trafford. The loser bungled it and went for Ighalo. If Haaland joins Chelsea in the summer, United will finish 4th next season. |
ChristoBam:When Ole gets sacked, trophies will return to the club. Had United won the league or Europa, Chelsea fans wouldn’t have the gall to come to this thread and troll you guys for being trophyless in the last 3 years or so. |
