what would this portend for Niger Deltans, hmm |
I love my father and mother, brothers and sisters, and so on, men and women so much that I don't like when people generalise! When you abuse men you forget your sons, uncles. When you disrespect women you forget your nieces, grandma. How can we come online and start spewing so much hate because you don't belong to the other gender? Can we become to the 2 at the same time? Don't we know that a number of people here use 'm' whereas they are females and vice versa? Sadly some males here who lash out at women were raised by their mothers - single, widow or divorced While some females here are still living in their dad's houses enjoying security, pecks and family time with siblings... So what's all these? 12 pages already? Hah Me that started work since yesterday... I thought by today many of us adults would have started getting busy in this beautiful prospective new year?! Please nau |
Let there be peace. I grew up in a time when our role models were physical or at least real. We didn't rely on online logic and diaspora views to know our selfworth and shortcomings. The op is wrong to push his prejudices and biases in public space, worse on a place like NL. Sadly a number of Nlanders don't know how to divest themselves from the write-up from the many faceless people here. While acknowledging that a few have shown their faces and others have contributed greatly to the lives of many, me inclusive, I still feel that NL pre 2023 had become toxic, illogical, abusive and a pathway to mental abuse and mental ill health. By faith I pray the owner Seun and his mods make the platform a veritable place for honesty, unity, sense, infact common sense and a pool of knowledge and undiluted fun. Sometimes when my younger cousins or younger people around me see me of NL they have this irritation and disappointment on their faces as though I ought not to waste my time here and rely on opinions and news from this platform. But alas! I've grown fond of NL. Been reading since 2006 when I got my first internet enabled phone and stumbled on it. But I thank God for giving me the ability not to be an addict of anything. So if people like the op and others who have stooped so low to his level to be cursing him and abusing both genders want to carry this negativity of NL this 2023, then I'll go back to just being a casual reader. Geez I can stay the entire 2023 like I've done in some years and months without logging in, commenting or even opening threads (just browsing the front page for relevant news and move on). They say Twitter is bad so NL is jealous? I beg make peace reign here make we rest. Meanwhile op na you start thread wey dey show us foods wey you don chop. But you no tell us wetin we suppose do? Make we praise your wife abi salivate? Oya take am 2 |
My last post and thread for the year 2022. I thank God. My prayer is that God keeps me in perfect peace as I trust in Him now and ever, in Jesus name, amen. January bills are already saying hello and many of us, we've worked but we know our income can't match the responsibilities. But God Who is able to provide more than we can ever ask or think is already there all we need is faith to receive His blessings. Remember He feeds the birds of the sky who neither sow nor reap. Drop yours |
Rest in peace |
So when I heard the Peak Milk ad that says Peakmas, I was like we've not gotten over the Agege bread innunedo of Easter by I think FCMB now this?Remove Christ from anything pertaining to the Christian faith and it's marketing, business and on a mere commercial turf. Peak Milk I love it but na Christmas I dey look forward to oh no be Peakmas |
Romanoff:I praise you Romanoff for this kind question and observation! I've dedicated more than 7 years of my life in this research. No thanks to strike I should have defended and put out my work for affirmative action soon than later. But it will still come out once this face off is settled. Thank God I work, but I still need a huge amount of money for my final defence. I'd appreciate all the help and prayers I can get. I feel for under grads, those who've sat at home without schooling or working... Knowledge is to be for service not for bragging rights. It's painful when I see theses, projects and researches on library shelves wasting. Nigeria has so many problems and many people/students/lecturers have written and researched in different areas to address these problems, issues and challenges but these are never used or implemented. I'm happy Lagos state is active in many ways through agencies. All states should follow this step. Children are riches, this happens to be the meaning of my native names. But Nigeria is sadly breeding a generation of parents who don't have sense of responsibility, discipline, exemplary lifestyles or dedication. Still back to the bragging rights...Make we just born pikin, baby papa baby mama sofar say I get pikin.. but with zero love and responsibility or knowledge of parent/child relationship and duties... |
May he rest in peace Please mods push it to front page There's so much we can learn from this bright your man now gone to the holy Creator God Almighty. We too have lessons of love, forgiveness, selflessness and friendship to learn from his demise. A popular young man. Earth's loss, heaven's gain. |

Kai see as you just misquote Bible... would you let a Christian misquote your Quran like this? Don't be a hypocrite. Write and stick it on your wall - "Do, think and say unto others just what you would want for yourself" I've a copy of the Quran in English but why will I be quoting it? I can only read it. I'm not trained in Islam to fully understand the verses. Even if you were once a Christian or you did CRK, don't misquote the Bible YOU DON'T BELIEVE IN! I can't even quote the Bible without the leading of the Holy Spirit. Do you know that you can only get understanding and true interpretation of the Bible by the Holy Spirit? If not you'd read it like fiction or motivational book. When we did Literature in secondary school, we were made to analyse poems and assume what the poet meant and what he meant to portray. But imagine if that poet where to come to our class back then himself and tell us? Would it be the same? Brother, do not misquote the Bible. Jesus died for you and I and all humanity even while we were in sin. His death and resurrection has brought salvation. Now you decide if you pick up this ticket to renewed relationship and reconciliation with God our Creator, which was lost in the garden of Eden, Or you decide not to pick the freeeeee ticket Jesus is given to eternal life and you choose the broad way that leads to eternal damnation. No one can come to the Father except through Me (Jesus Christ). I believe this and I've accepted this message and urge you and others who have not, to accept this simple but powerful message and invitation to eternal life |
Empiree: ![]() I sorry for you, truly Pity Compassion Love Not only confidence but nonsense E pain you? Bravo, do and say to others what you want for yourself, abi what you write in defence of your faith don't you want others of other faiths to do likewise? Answer my question with confidence and honesty, make the devil be ashamed... ![]() "Have you ever blasphemed your faith, that of Christians or traditionalists?"

You've spoken/written well. But I fear to ask you what you suggest Christians do? Because I don't want you to be tagged as someone inciting violence. You know we have overzealous security agencies. I pray to God for a way of escape or victory because I pray never to have blood on my hands in Jesus name, amen. I wish you well, I wish you safety. When I think of Egypt, Turkey, Syria, Spain and now London in the UK I understand totally what you say. Closer home, I think of Nassarawa, Gombe, Bauchi, Plateau, Taraba and even Adamawa I understand totally what you say. May God help us. Jesus said His kingdom is not of this earth. We'll all leave. But we'll also give account to God what we did with what He gave us - knowledge, family, ministry, properties, landmarks, health, salvation and all. I pray we shall not be found wanting, amen. |
Empiree:Bravo The pastor wasn't speaking for Christians but expressing his personal opinion Anybody who messes with Christianity and Jesus Christ the Son of God Almighty will be in trouble henceforth.Abi e good like this ![]() Shebi make no one insult anyone's faith. J3susFr3ak:Dear I never voted this government at any level at any election year And yes I've a PVC and I use it even to LGA elections and councillors sef. For those of us who are witnessing Buhari for the second time as president, no manner of sedative, cajoling or packaging would have ever moved us to vote him in 2015 and 2019. I was truly ashamed, surprised, disappointed and sad (with all due respect) with those born 1980 upwards to 1939 who voted for them in 2015 and 2019. That said. Muslims are not to be appeased, they are humans like you and I, not enemies or evil spirit. Love is what Jesus told us is the new commandment. If an eye for an eye, the village would be a village of the blind. Two wrongs don't make it right. If those who refer to themselves as Muslims who perpetuate evil, which other Muslims reject as unIslamic who are you and I who are not Muslims to tag them enemies? Mind you these so called Muslims hate Muslims who extend love and care and protection to people of other faiths. They also kill Muslims who go about minding their businesses and don't join them in their evils. Many Muslims are victims, but who speaks for them when a lot of people tag them all together which is wrong. If you ever read about Paul/Saul you'd know never to judge or condemn anyone Jesus shed His blood for. God will and shall use anyone He wishes to. Inasmuch as I don't care if you're an elder or teenager kindly don't refer to me as naive, you've never walked in my shoes, you know nothing about me, unless what I write! Abi na? Your perception about me is just that human speculation. You're not omniscient. Sorry! ![]() Truly like Deborah like Stephen like the numerous martyrs over the years, we should speak for the truth, the gospel of Jesus Christ and NOT hate, vengeance, annihilation, do me I do you, bigotry, tribalism and violence. Did Stephen, the first recorded martyr, ever ask that those people be struck dead? Even Jesus on the cross said they don't know what they do. If you were not a Christian you might even have been passive or indifferent as e no concern you or your people. |
We all must stand up against the death of Deborah No matter your religion, faith, tribe or location. Do unto others. How many of you Muslims reading this can say that you've never blasphemed either your faith or that of the Christian faith or that of traditionalists? And you never die! You're quick to call people kafri and infidels and pagans and use DEROGATORY remarks on Christ but you feel offended when the table is turned against you. I do not blaspheme Islam not because I fear fatua or Muslims but because it is not right to disagree disrespectfully. I won't enter a shrine and insult the deities, not out of fear but because I can disagree respectfully. We live by love that's the code, that's the new command. That person who's not my faith, I'd love him to live and see God's goodness. So why will I wish him death and miss out totally on any chance to come to belief in the power of the blood of Jesus Christ? My dear Muslims I'm sure you may say you don't mind, but that's not true cause I've lived in Sokoto, Ilorin, Oyo and other places where Muslims are. Visited Kaduna, Kano and Kebbi among others. Muslims you'd mind if in a class WhatsApp group Christians there post faith messages at the time of exam when past questions are required and academic information. Dear Muslims, if Deborah insulted your faith, I personally apologise, Jesus wants us to have our words seasoned with salt and not curse but bless. But she shouldn't have been killed. She IS NOT UNDER SHARIA LAW. Sharia law only binds Muslims. Just like Marshall law binds only force men. If I'm caught in a crime inside barracks as a civilian I won't be court marshalled! But if truly she didn't blaspheme and you all have come to find out days after (like they found out that it was indeed a bomb blast in Kano) please be humble and admit it. It can NEVER bring her back, even protests, BUT IT CAN ENSURE THAT SUCH THING NEVER OCCURS AGAIN. wouldn't we be happy if this senseless killing never happens again? Be it in Bauchi, Kebbi, Kaduna or Jigawa PS: for those saying why didn't condemn the beheading in the East, while I'm not from the East, there's no competition to show the vilest offender. The burning of Deborah and the beheading of people are all bad, no one is over the other, all must be condemned, one doesn't excuse, justify or water down the other. Those who are Igbos shouldn't keep shut about Deborah because she's from Niger state and their own region is on siege. I'm neither from Kano, Niger or the East but I'm concerned about what has happened in these places and I'm speaking for them and speaking against the evils. I must not be a Muslim, from Niger, from Anambra to stand up for truth and justice. |
This is commendable We all must stand up against the death of Deborah No matter your religion, faith, tribe or location. Do unto others. She died because she said she's bored and the world is a cesspool Sadly there are people with this view. If you know anyone like this please tell them, Life is not boring. Just wait till you know your purpose then you'll wish you have more time on earth. The world is not a cesspool. The world also contains beautiful babies, loving grannies, handsome dudes and beautiful ladies. Or have you not seen the sun set and flowers, beaches and mountains? What about technology? Oh so you don't know that flying cars are being developed and a hotel was built below the earth inside water? When people choose to only look at the rapes, wars, tribalism, poverty, strikes, accidents, rituals and heartbreaker they lead themselves to the highway of depression, indifference, cynicism and eventual hate (which can make one a mass shooter or suicidal. Do you know some people kill others thinking they are saving them from a broken world! I pray God grants fortitude to those e left to remeber this Kenyan woman. May God be merciful to her soul, amen |
TheLoneCitizen:You are right that we must be careful I didn't sign cause of the monetary part I know organisations need money to run, but this one raises a red flag. I completely support the cause of petitioning the government against those killers though |
haslaw:Dear Haslaw, I commend your equitable approach and fairness. I condemn the killing of Deborah too like you. But, There are no Christian extremists. There are no bad Christians. We can have fake Christians and Church goers but by that word alone you can't be an extremists. The word Christian came from Antioch when the people in the society saw the believers of Jesus Christ and called them Christians because they behaved and acted like Jesus Christ. Since Jesus would not have killed or insulted, anyone who does that does not represent or exemplify Him. Do you know Haslaw that those who go about insulting Muslims and Islam also do same to Christians and Jesus Christ? They are not Christians I kid you not. They are fence seaters or church goers at best. They swing any way. They can be traditionalists tomorrow and attend Jumat today while they were in Church or a beer parlour yesterday! For example when you hear of reprisal attacks in communities in Taraba, Benue, Plateau or other places even in the East, it's not Christians versus Muslims. In Taraba for example it may be Fulanis versus Jukuns. But since Jukuns are mostly not Muslims and Fulanis are mostly not Christian, you conclude that it's religious. Do you know that they are Muslim Igbos and Christian Fulanis? It's very offensive and wrong for you to say Deborah and her murderers are alike. Please delete it. Why? When you see people complain about NEPA, GLO, NNPC, ASUU, Buhari and other things does it make them the same with these things and people they complain about? If you Haslaw have ever criticised Buhari or your own state government does that make you a killer, assassin or worthy of death? Buhari is someone's father. If you insult him does that give Yusuf justification to order a fatua or hit on you? Deborah criticised, complained but she shed no blood she didn't even incite. Haslaw you'd be surprised that they were other Christians in that WhatsApp group but did you hear that she incited them all to condemn? It was her personal opinion and she was wrong. But she did not deserve to die. She was wrong only for using the word nonsense. I schooled in the north for my PG and I was in a WhatsApp group. But the lecturer/admin/Muslim never allowed religious messages especially from the Muslims who were predominant. Do you know that it was the Christians that used to drop barka de sallah to greet fellow Muslim students? That's harmony not necessarily live and let live. Those Christian students didn't have to drop such felicitations, but did out of love. There's no doctrine of live and let live. The only doctrine is love. Would you live and let live if you knew Rev King or those religious people who killed, made human sacrifices and made their members eat grass and drink bleach? Would you? If you would then you have no love for you don't care that a religious sect in your neighbourhood is killing fellow humans who are their members or foes. Finally, Haslaw in all all all honesty, not even mentioning the ones in public like El Rufai and others, but who blasphemes more? Christians do not for these 3 major reasons - 1. Because they know Muslims can kill them for that, but the reverse is not so. Do you know any Muslim that has been killed for saying Jesus and Mary Magdalene had a sex.ual relationship? Did you see the crowd that endorsed Da Vinci code? Even among the fake Christians. Did you read what El Rufai also tweeted? 2. Because Christians know they serve a big God. We can't fight for our God, we can't feed Him, make Him great, shelter Him or describe Him completely! He's a might God, the I Am, the Omni, the Almighty Creator, God of powerful angels and Commander of fire, rain, hail, lions, locusts, armies of men, heat, flood, snow, moon and sun, and even time itself. The God Who can cause a standstill. How now? Any body claiming to fight or kill for this God is a fake Christian. 3. Because of our belief. We are told to love and do unto others what they should do to us. We are told to be seasoned in our speech. We are told not to curse but bless. We are told that even the great angel Michael in battle with Satan didn't curse but rebuked Satan. We are told that our tongue can set the world on fire so we should control our tongues. We are told that we should preach Christ Jesus not hate, not bigotry, not fear, not murder. If Christian clergy should teach your view on live and let live, HASLAW what should your Muslim clergy also teach? When you point, 3 fingers point back to you and one is covered! Salaam |
Gwan2:I kid you not Gwan I've always wondered what would happen or what the Holy Spirit would want me or you or others to do IF we ever face attack or threat. Jesus put back the ear of Marcus who Peter had removed with a sword. Jesus is the Prince of Peace. I believe our weapons are not canal but mighty through God. I've heard people fight evil with just speaking and declaring the Word of God and I long to be that kind of person. I believe we must exercise our faith in Jesus in all circumstances. May the Holy Spirit lead us a d God protect us from evil and evil situations in Jesus name, amen |
This is a glimpse of how FIRM, UNBIASED, DETRIBALISED, HUMANE Atiku can be if He is president That's a father's daughter That could have been your daughter's teacher That could have been your mother's daughter in law That could have been your sister's bestie That could have been your son's employer But you see, there lies a charred corpse, what people call remains. But that's not from a gas explosion or plane crash or oil bunkering gone wrong, or a thief caught in Jankara market... That's a girl who wrongly used the word nonsense but was never given mercy to apologise. I apologise on her behalf. For if you use that word for my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ or our Father our Creator God, I shall not strike a match, but silently pray for your mercy. But alas God Himself shows mercy on whom He will, and what if He doesn't show you? God is the God of justice and vengeance, but what if He chooses to strike everyone of those who killed Deborah dead or He chooses to use them like He used Paul of Tarsus? What about those who have used worse words for Jesus, Mary, David, Moses, Abraham, angels, Elisha, Isaiah, Peter, the Holy Spirit and our Creator God? Those in politics, In movies In cartoons In series In songs In jokes In slants In exclamations In books In comics ... and here on nairaland? What do we Christians do? If truly you think, do, and say what you would want another to do, say, and think about you, you would think before you think, say or do to others. It took a split second thinking for people to carry stones to want to stone the adulterous woman in the gospel according to John, cause they were 'righteous and kissed off by such immorality and shame and sin of the woman. She must die, the book said so, Moses himself wrote it, and they believe it's an instruction from God Himself. So we moveee! And it took a split second for them to truly think when they heard, 'those without sin cast the stone' and without their initial aggression and self righteous and lack of mercy and a forgiving spirit, they took a look at the older ones and they threw down their stones. The adulterous woman who truly had sinned, offended the law and could have been killed, WAS FORGIVEN AND GIVEN A SECOND CHANCE! But not Deborah who used the word nonsense! I'm saddened by this This is not the first time. While I can NEVER support the disrespect of religion, I want to tell fanatics that any random person in trying to cause problem can just lie and say some said something against your religion when the person never did, and you just go ahead and kill the person. They never read Othello or heard of Iago. People can lie but when that person is dead, she never be brought back when you hear the truth. To think that I once stayed near that COE in fact those who know Sokoto know its proximity to The Government school Farufaru May she rest in peace, amen. May her family and loved ones know peace and have fortitude. May those like Saul while in sin who consented to the killing of Stephen, who sit behind their devices and support this dastardly act and those present who joined in the instigation, killing and burning of the security post know that God is the God of justice and vengeance belongs to God. Jesus said pray for your enemies and those who hate you, so this is my prayer - They shall not die, like Saul they shall be converted to Paul, and become useful in the propagation of the gospel of Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, They shall receive justice and face the wrath of the law, They shall know no peace on earth but rest in peace if they repent and die in Christ, They shall hear the cry of her blood and the tears of her loved ones, They shall bear the task left behind that she couldn't bear, They shall see death and know remorse, They shall rise against likeminded who kill as religious fanatics, They shall use the remainder of their lives and resources to preach peace, harmony and salvation in Jesus Christ, In Jesus name, amen |
I'm saddened by this 3 months extension but I believe God knows best God is good It's a pity that those in position to answer ASUU are busy with election matters Their children can NEVER be in any affected school with this kind of attitude, I don't care Those affected it's well No salary No project No classes No admission No resumption No respite for campus businesses No hope for landlords pitying their tenants No defence |
