My approach to sensational stories is to also research on the other side of the story. Some people may understand how things work, some have just taken a position of negativity that they would never see the presence of the positive.

1st and foremost, no one institution in this world can cater for all the poor amongst them even if they allocated all their resources to the poor. At this moment, even the United Nations cant, with all their resources continue to feed the displaced people in Syria. In various messages and individual testimonies, RCCG at the Redemption camp feeds hundreds of thousands free during August Convention of a week and during December Congress. Over 100 children are born during August Annual Convention free of charge. A CAN CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE of RCCG Apapa Family feeds thousands every single week. I have personally voluntered to help and i distributed food in Makoko, just to be able to see things objectively.

The Redemption Camp on Lagos Ibadan expressway has over 1,000 houses built by Individuals and Mortgage Banks. For Individuals, you get the LAND FREE OF CHARGE, all you need to do is provide a BQ room within your building to be given to RCCG for the use of the poor.

As for the Jet(s) RCCG has never used its own money to buy any Jet, its wealthy parishoners; Partners and others that contributed money for the purchase(s). A company was incorporated to lease out the fleet to generate income that will in turn run the fleet and make the plane available to the General Overseer and other Ministers who require it for Ministry work only. In the fianl absence of the G.O, the company remains.

RCCG has a university. The University in July last year played a major role in the Ebola crisis. Its Virology laboratory confirmed the presence of Ebola Virus in the Liberian Diplomat, a Laboratory that even much older and better funded universities do not have.

Lastly, have you noticed that RCCG does not have major Financial Scandals? RCCG for decades have been running TSA (Single Treasury account) where all the parishes nationwide depost tithes and offerings and a % is given back to the aprishes to run their needs.

I could go on and on, but i can only provide these pieces of information becos i researched rather than believe only the negative, but unfortunately, we are in a age/generation where sensationalism and self projection(selfie) is rife, so, people believe shouting negative from the roof top gives them the much sought after publicity

But I'll advice you to be more open and objective in your defense.

I respect all men of God, most especially the person in question.

But as a realist and objective person, it is high time we started discussing the 'reality of the day'.

If the Leaders of catholic, Baptist, Methodist, Anglican and others who built schools, hospitals and houses for the masses in the 30s to 80s had channeled the fund at their disposal to their personal use. Am sure many people would not have had access to education today.

I just hope that one day we'll all open our eyes and brain to see that our "Religious Leaders and Politicians are partners in crime" They are all exploiting we masses. Good day

in case you are interested in some of his academic essays, I'll be honoured to recommend, I've read some and they changed my perception of my heritage, religion, global institutions, and even history generally, well you might want to start with his 2013 book; 'Of Africa - Wole Soyinka'
My admiration for him stems from his tendency of not pretending to have answers for every question he raises or observations he makes, and of course his style of writing(satire), in those memoirs, you'll see him narrating his buffoonery, even recent ones, which suggest to me he doesn't take himself too seriously and also attest to his frankness and honesty, little wonder many disapprove of him when he treats their f@&k up just the way he will treat his (OBJ comes to mind)

I was arrested for driving a car with a tinted glass (rear doors) on Monday along Berger expressway. I was delayed and was made to part with N10,000 by this miserable and unkind police officers.

Please I need information about this tinted glass, one of the police officers later told me that it is not even factory fitted, making it more grievous.

This guy was the one that first came out in 2009 to declare the insolvent state of NNPC. He was castigated by the high and mighty of GEJ's administration for opening the government's yansh. He was moved to Ministry of Special Duties from Minister of State for Finance. He honourably resigned and left GEJ's Government. If you don't know he was a Director in First Bank.

The former President GEJ became famous ever since he made an attempt to differentiate between corruption and stealing. In trying to find excuse and cover for the public criticism of his Govt and majority of his officials, he made a statement that will define the last general election. The Nigerian public were angry and mad at a man whose goodwill had dried up over a long period of non-performance and lack of will for better governance.

However, putting sentiments aside I have decided to look at the denotative and connotative meaning of both words: CORRUPTION and STEALING, if there is any difference or not. To ascertain if the former President was right or wrong on his assertion.

A. CORRUPTION (noun) according to google:
1. means dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power, typically involving bribery.
2. the process by which a word or expression is changed from its original state to one regarded as erroneous or debased.
3. is the misuse of public power (by elected politician or appointed civil servant) for private gain.

According to Transparency International, Corruption is the abuse of entrusted power for private gain. It can be classified as grand, petty and political, depending on the amounts of money lost and the sector where it occurs.

SYNONYMS OF CORRUPTION ARE: Dishonesty, falsification, deceit, double-dealing, fraud, falsification, alteration etc.

While B. STEALING(verb):

1. to take (another person's property) without permission or legal right and without intending to return it.
2.move somewhere quietly or surreptitiously
According to Criminal Code 1899 section 399 : Stealing refers to a person who fraudulently takes anything capable of being stolen, or fraudulently converts to the person's own use or to the use of any other person anything capable of being stolen, is said to steal that thing.

SYNONYMS are: thieve, take, purloin, abstract, loot, pilfer.............

Denotatively (dictionary) do you really think there is a difference between the two?
Connotatively (literarily) do you think they can be used interchangeably?
Was PGEJ taken up based on his track record of cluelessness or fact based?

The former President still maintains that there is a difference between the two and that he was right on his assertion.

Mine happened some years back....my cousin from US came visiting for the first time in Nigeria.

We are this moderate family like that, where you have to fetch water to flush closet. It doesn't flush on its own.

After three weeks in Nigeria my Cousin was preparing to return to US for resumption and while we were playing she uttered what startled me

she said "I'll teel my friends I saw a water closet that doesn't flush on its own"...........I was startled.
