FamilyRe: My Mum Bullying My Dad Is Getting Out Of Hand!!! by InvertedHammer: 5:38pm On May 28, 2023
aidameoryou:
Your suggestions are genuinely needed 🙏

Hi my people good day, I have been having a thorough thought all in my mind and have been boiling inside of me on what next step to take.

Over the years, I have seen my mum really been hostile to my dad and it's getting out of hand for me to bear.
I am the first son of some siblings and in my mid 20s.
I live apart from my parents in another state and one of my junior sibling who went home for a little break from school was complaining bitterly about how my mum attitude towards my dad is getting out of hand.

My father has to be the most responsible, respectable, reasonable man I ever know, he doesn't drink, doesn't smoke, doesn't womanizer. He has been the sole breadwinner in the family from when we were small up till this time.
His work isn't moving very well as it used to back then and as such he cannot cater very well like he's used to and even though at that, he's been trying his best....
My mum just doesn't appreciate him enough and I've seen this a million times.

My next line of action is to call my mum and give her a serious scolding because she hasn't been warned sternly about this by any of my siblings before.
This is getting out of hand and I cannot bear it anymore, please what do you all suggest I could do in this situation
/
It happens. She is comparing her current boyfriend with your dad. That's the main problem. An unfaithful woman picks quarrel easily with her financially unstable husband. Na see finish.

Even ordinary sycophancy, Seyi Law abused it too.

Seyi Law forgets that politics is an industry in Nigeria. People like him are never the beneficiaries. Once Tinubu gets in, the political hawks will jump in and sideline everyone else.

It is difficult to condemn corruption in Nigeria when it is apparent that the righteous ones are the ones who haven’t been in a position to show their true colours. It becomes easy once you can admit that corruption is a Nigerian culture.

PoliticsRe: Minister Of State Not A Constitutional Aberration, A Response To Keyamo by InvertedHammer: 6:11pm On May 25, 2023
TonyeBarcanista:
By Tonye Barcanista

I read a piece credited to Mr Festus Keyamo SAN over his call to abolish the "Minister of State" portfolio.

To start with, I want to believe that Festus Keyamo position was borne out of the experience he faced as being seen as a subordinate to a fellow Minister - just like every other ministers of state. If so be the case, I empathize with him but I don't think his call was done in good faith. If he was sincere, he had a whole 8 years to call the attention of President Muhammadu Buhari but didn't do so because of reasons best known to him.

Now to the main issue, it is my humble opinion that Festus Keyamo erred for labeling the position of "Minister of State" a constitutional aberration. He perhaps did not realise that the Minister and the Minister of State are equal Ministers but with different responsibilities assigned to each of them by the President - who is the appointer.

The Constitution in Sections 147 and 148 (as amended) that deals with the appointment of ministers only mandated the President to at least appoint a minister from each state, it never inferred that the responsibilities of each ministers shall be of equal status.

When President Olusegun Obasanjo assumed office and assigned some ministers to 'ministers of state', he clearly defined the responsibilities of both the 'Senior' ministers and the Junior ministers. For instance, while the Minister of Education was assigned to Tertiary Education, the minister of state for education was responsible for primary/secondary education - this tradition was followed by his successors.

Mr Hadi Sirika, during the first term of President Buhari was a junior minister in the ministry of transportation, however, the President clearly assigned Aviation responsibilities to him. He only became a senior minister at the formation of Buhari’s new cabinet in 2019.

Therefore, when a minister of state feels that he is made redundant in the ministry (like in the case of Keyamo), the blame should be the president that didn't clearly define his responsibilities in the ministry and not the practice itself.

The call for a 36/42 ministries to accommodate each ministers will only amount to waste of scarce resources - as each ministry will need office building, permanent secretary, directors etc. Whereas in the case of Minister/minister of state, one building and permanent secretary will serve the needs of the two ministers.

Conclusively, whether one is named a minister or minister of state, the provisions of Sections 147 & 148 of the CFRN (as amended) are not breached as both portfolio are equal members at the Federal Executive Council with the occupants representing their respective States but with different posting/portfolio.

Tonye Barcanista writes from Abuja

For a poor country like Nigeria, redundancy creates waste of scarce resources.

FamilyRe: I Am Not Getting Attracted To Her Sexually by InvertedHammer: 9:18pm On May 24, 2023
Nation1:
Hello people,

Am married for 6 years with two kids. Some months ago, my wife started denying sex so much that we hardly have 2 times in a month. Because of this, I no longer disturb her this days cos it's better to let her be than to be rejected since most times I expected her to say no or give an excuse or the other which am always about 90 percent right about.

This days, I don't feel attracted to her sexually anymore. I have never cheated on her but this days, the thought of doing so is gradually creeping in. Have tried talking to her about this but no change. I don't want to start what extra marital affair but am tempted to.

I need your advise guys.
/
Sex usually dies with marriage after about 2 years. Twice a month? You are doing a lot better than many men. If you dare step outside, she will be the first to cry "infidelity!". Men with high libido do realize a tad too late after marriage that infrequent sex is the norm.

Good luck!

FamilyRe: I do not feel loved by my wife, Is this enough reason to quit my marriage? by InvertedHammer: 9:12pm On May 24, 2023
CuriousMind2022:
Back to my story of what happened weekend/Monday. My wife never bothered to call me to check if I arrived safely since I left the house yesterday. I even called her once (primarily to check on my daughter), but she didn't pick up and she didn't call back, and up till now, we have not spoken.

She obviously does not care whether I arrived safely in my station or not. In this country of insecurities, a family member of yours will travel and you do not care whether he/she arrived safely, that is the height for me....

I am a family-oriented person, I have always dreamt of having a peaceful, loving, and Godly home but unfortunately, the reverse is the case for my wife. I began to understand why family background is very important in a person's life, after getting married. My wife is from a family where they place little or no value on marriage. Her mother had children with 2 men, and my wife is obviously working very hard to follow that same path. She shows little or no enthusiasm in making our marriage work. I am always the one to initiate moves to resolve issues when we quarrel...
/

The reason is because you are not her 1st, 2nd nor 3rd choice. The persons she loves were not ready for marriage so she decided to pick you from her supplementary list. Not every damaged good is salvageable.

Good luck.

Don't mind these ignorant folks. When China has issues with US, they place ban on beef on flimsy excuses. All they need is say that some people suspected of having malaria touched the packaging. Voila! I guess some Nigerians do not understand that malaria is treated like ebola in UK/US. They will quarantine your ass.

FamilyRe: Should I Renovate Our Family House? by InvertedHammer: 2:18pm On May 21, 2023
JungleJustice01:
Both parents have passed no will was left. I basically leave the rents collected from the house rent to my only younger brother.

Now the house is deteriorating and I want to fix it, like give it a major facelift but the funds will be coming from me entirely. I don't have a personal house of mine but I believe an overhaul of this place can give leverage to increase the rent as it is in a good part of town.

My fear is after this investment, will I be able to recoup any funds? If I am to pass away, will my kids have any access to the property?

I love my brother but I've heard and read stories of human behavior especially in situations where there is no documentation.

What do I do?
/

If your brother is collecting rent, why can't he renovate it? You are simply complicating a simple problem.

How much do you think the dilapidated building will be worth by the time your children inherit it(if at all)? Build your own house.

FamilyRe: How Do I Save My Marriage by InvertedHammer: 4:17pm On May 16, 2023
promisedwealth:
Good morning Great people and wonderful family, please just like the saying a problem shared it's a problem half solved.

I have been married to my wife for over 6years now we have been through all together we have two kids 4 and a year old .

my business since late 2021 has been rough I lost some money trying out a different business I'm based in the eastern part of the country.

Early last year my mother in law told my wife to come stay with her in Lagos till I can find my self again, they left imo to Lagos on feb. 2022 I have been I contact with them ever since sending money across also it happen that my wife started bringing the idea of myself joining over there in Lagos ( my in law has a little school in Lagos that has been where my wife has been teaching since she left) .

Concerning the relocation I told her it's not easy as I have to look for money to get accommodation, shop to start a business also the money will be much which I can't afford for now during someday last year I told her to come back during one of our discussion she told me she it's not coming to east again I got angry.

I noticed the mother will never allow her leave her school so I kept mute about coming back since I was neither ready yet do we kept on going no issues.

Just this april she changed, hardly pick my call, stop calling me by the pet name she does.

I tried to find out what happened, she told me she wanted a break. I was confused I tried to guess why she came up with that. she needs to seek and know if it's the will of God for our union that's after two kids .

I was lost also I have tried to restore this woman sanity since then till now I have spoken to the mother she it's not saying anything than what ever she decides it's best for her the only once telling me not to worry at the brothers but I'm worried honestly .

I don't want my kids to grow in different homes.

I also tried to make her see this same reason she told me the kids will be fine she's not looking at anything making her decision please I need advise it's my wife under a spell or what.

I don't want to raise ny kids this way please advice please....
/
IMO to Lagos.

You must visit your family every month for now till things stabilize. The more you stay away, the more she realizes how much more she could do without you—phantom widow lifestyle.

North plays a major role in who governs Nigeria

If Obi gets 200k from Rivers and still lose the election, the honorable thing to do is to give him that 200k and let the result speaks for itself.

It doesn't matter if Tinubu won the election by 1000 votes but let the real results show that.

If a parent needs to beat their children for them to respect them , then they never had control over them in the first place.

Our kids even when they are stubborn and disobedient (which is normal) still need to be able to have respect for us without the threat of violence. Your kids need to be able to look at , your presence, the way you carry yourself etc and feel a sense of respect and reverence for you. If violence is the only way to get that from them, there are baseline issues that need to be resolved
/
Valid argument.
When your kid mixes up with the wrong crowd in a Junior High School, let me see how you control that with your presence.

Right now the most dangerous group in US is 13-15 years who shoot without questioning and brag about spinning the block looking for opps. From Chicago, Memphis, Bowie to parts of Indiana, it is a shooting expedition.

If you don’t earn enough to move to the suburbs but reside in the inner city, chances are high that your kids will end up suspects or victims.
