oh well, i agree with you.
And the fact is Nigeria will never earn that respect, because this country will never be productive unless some radical national restructuring is carried out.
And i don't see that happening in the next 100 years.
The fault lines are just too much.
/
Iran, Russia, North Korea, China, etc are proving themselves in the global arena and USA is sending delegates to.negotiate with them.

In the case of Nigeria, they run around as beggars and turn around to spite those that will not commit their own resources to help Nigeria. How low can a country go?

The resources are there. Just prove that there are people with common sense in.a country of 150millions. That in itself becomes a chore. An average Nigerian will complain that there is no respect for Nigeria forgetting that respect is earned. Who respects a beggar?

Barcanista even shamelessly had to come to.NL to write how the begging escapade is not as fruitful as it should. If he had castigated PMB for not looking inward for solution, his article would have made sense. Why are Nigerians educated to feel inferior?

Politics › Re: Buhari's Planned Probe Of Only Jonathan Administration And The "Far Past" by InvertedHammer: 8:46pm On Jul 23, 2015
barcanista:
Since his March 28 electoral victory, President Buhari has been credited with some statements that are so unworthy of his office as the President of Nigeria. The latest of them is the President's determination to limit his probe to Jonathan's administration only. Add to this, Presidential Spokesman Femi Adesina insulted our sensibilities by these words...

“If you recall, that was already settled before he got inaugurated as president. He has said he will not waste time digging into the far past,”
“The far past will includes Obasanjo and others. But the president has said he will not waste time to go that far.”

In addition to the above statement, the Spokesman also said...
"He can’t afford to go too deep into the past or else it will be destructive for his administration." https://www.nairaland.com/2471364/buhari-probe-jonathans-govt-only

1. The "Far Past" Exclusion:

There was no time during the electioneering or transition period that Buhari made any statement like excluding "far past" administrations. What is "far past"? This obviously is a new creation aimed at protecting certain persons.

Let us do a recall that before the election, APC Chairman John Oyegun was quoted to have said..
“It is clear that from the Buhari’s perspective and that of the APC, the future of the people of this country is too important for us to spend valuable time trying to dig into the past...”

Oyegun further made clarification that the "past" is pre-2015 (not pre-2010) when he said

“And we are going to go into a situation, post May 2015, where the law will normally take its course. There will be a line drawn on the sand; on one part is the past, the other side is the future."
www.punchng.com/news/only-corrupt-nigerians-oppose-buhari-says-apc/

We also recall that Buhari himself on March 11, 2015 in a campaign rally in Kaduna state made it clear that he will only probe post-May 29, 2015 corruption cases.
www.newtelegraphonline.com/i-wont-probe-former-leaders-says-buhari/
www.thenationonlineng.net/buhari-i-wont-probe-past-govts/

There was no talk of "far past" at any time.

2. Obasanjo, Atiku, IBB etc And The "Far Past"

Isn't this laughable? If Buhari had changed his mind from his earlier position, isn't it sane that he probes former administrations especially from the IBB regime? If he insist on probing democratic administrations, then why not start from May 29, 1999? Nigerians will like to know what happened to the billions recovered from Abacha. We will like to bring those indicted in the PTDF scandal to Justice (Obasanjo, Atiku and co). We will like to know what happened to the N2.3trillion the Obasanjo allegedly spent on power. We will like to bring to justice the Haliburton "thieves" among others.

Is Buhari now trying to protect Obasanjo, who happens to be his military benefactor in 1977 and his navigator to the March 28 electoral triumph? Is he trying excluding the Abacha regime because he was part of it? Is he protecting Yar'adua administration because he was his kinsman and certain officers of that government contributed to bring him to power?
Why is Buhari making nonsense of leadership?

3. Going Too Deep Is "Destructive"?

What is destructive in bringing officers of past administrations that has looted our common wealth to justice? Is he trying to say that he can't probe his benefactors (Abacha and Obasanjo), his kinsman (Yar'adua) and his Northern military comrade (IBB), but will only probe Jonathan's administration because he neither benefitted from Jonathan nor is he a kinsman to Jonathan?

Finally, I want to reiterate that I am not against the probe of Jonathan's administration(PDP and Jonathan also share this sentiment). However, it amounts to injustice, unpatriotism and "unstatesmanlike" for the President to come up with a new "jargon" such as "far past" in his bid to shield his benefactors from probe. I to appeal to patriotic Nigerians to call on President Buhari to tow the path of sanity, fairness and statesmanship in leadership.

May God Bless Us All.
/
I think it is fair. He is setting a good precedence.

If you fail to probe your predecessor, it is on you.

But we shall probe you.

In other words, covering the mess of your predecessor will not guarantee your soft-landing. If this had been implemented all these years, Nigeria would have been a better place. Instead they chose to sweep atrocities under the proverbial carpet. And the rot continued.

We should encourage the one who has the courage to break the yoke.

We expect USA to ......

Nigeria is a country of its own and not the 51st state in USA.

USA can promise and are not under any obligation to deliver. They don't owe Nigeria sh#t. If you fvckers cannot get your house in order, don't expect a stranger to do. I find it annoying that the most input you get from so-called educated (albeit ignorant) folks from Nigeria is the notion that the world is a welfare organization where Nigeria's only job is to stretch out hands for free hand outs.
God forbid Nigerians think.and be able to develop their own weapons and logistics. And you still want to rub shoulders with Oyibo? Let the wailing continue. USA has oil in abundance now in their backyard so Nigeria is inconsequential.

I was forced to do so. My question is, is it ideal to relate with one's boss on the social media?

All those boys forming hard man and cult boys were rounded up and fvcked in the a.nus by Alhaji which tells you that upon all the gragra, the so-called hard men were pvssy-@ss motherf&$!@r$. Else how can one person effectively terrorize so many for so long?

Even with all his boys and policemen around, one bad a.ss walked up to him, broke a bottle and stabbed Alhaji. Now that's one heck of a tough guy and not these fake hard men crying at the sight of policemen.

May God bless his soul once again for proving to the whole world that the so-called hard men are chickens.

Not only in Europe,

Each time I see a Nigerian guy getting ready to marry a Nigerian lady in USA, I cringe in disbelief. It is so 90s.
Anyway, such weddings are rare these days. Guys have learned from the mistakes of others. Nigerian ladies are now getting married to akata. Anyhow is better than nothing. Or some head back to Nigeria to find their better halves. No be small thing o! But for some obvious reasons, the ones from wealthy homes always finds husbands. But the rest are like water trying to find its level. If she is the first in a family of seven, run away like you have seen the devil. The first few years may be lovely dopey, but thereafter the husband will find out he is married to.moneygram and Western Union.

The wahala is too much and never ending with in-laws, her families, etc. To the ones who want to try it, I wish them good luck. The stories always end the same.

From what I understand, he'd set up check points and would pull over fancy cars, tow them and demand payment/bribe with the collusion of policemen from Alagbon close. It seemed he was in it for personal enrichment and not crime-fighting. More like, hustling the hustlers and non-hustlers alike using the name of Police IG. And he wasn't a LEA.

If at all D3 wanted to start his witchhunt I expected him to be smart about it!! What is the business of the DSS with the investigation of financial malfeansance? What then is the role of the EFCC? They accounts can indeed be frozen but a prima facie case of fraud must be established against him(which they have failed to so far do) before any court can grant the order freezing his accounts!!

Buhari and his advisers are indeed bunch of fools as the way the are going about this man's case smacks of real desperation!!! They should have taken their time and quietly investigated this man before moving against him.

I work in a not-too-big establishment that is owned by my brother-in-law, we have a staff of 7 ladies, 4 guys including myself.

The problem i have is that these ladies whose job is largely secretarial thinks that given my connection with the CEO, that i am financially privileged, now, i'm just managing myself, albeit comfortably, but, there is no time i can have a single conversation with these ladies without me hearing something like, 'find something for me nah', 'hope you will find me weekend money', 'you be oga nah, your own better' and stuffs like that.

Recently, one of them celebrated her birthday at the office but brought no drinks, during the celebration, she blatantly asked me to bring #5000 to support her, i was like what? The whole thing is pissing me off.

I remember a day i told one of them to buy me sachet water, she asked me how an oga like me should be drinking sachet water and not a bottled water.

The new and most annoying trend now is that anytime i send them to get me food, which is sold between 250 and 350, they either do not get me any change or they tell me that the food vendor is owing them, and we know the rest.

Please nairalanders how best do i express my displeasure to them without being petty, while also sustaining their goodwill?

I will visit Nigeria at the appointed time. Not any time soon. Nigeria is too expensive with minimal returns. I travel a lot to many countries. By far, Nigeria seems to be the most expensive. Fuel, water, security details, logistics, friends and foes, running from one hotel to the other, etc. It all adds up.

I am at a stage that I don't need unnecessary stress in my life. The house I am building in the village is for the heck of it. I will never sleep there. The question becomes: What is the definition of home? Of course, a house is not necessarily a home.
