The nairaland economics will te explain to u how convoy of mere 120 cars does not change anything in the general scheme of things . They will make u see that even if his convoy consists of just 3 cars , It doesn’t matter . They will ask u how much u think will be saved if he decided to do things differently than his predecessors by being pruning down the expenses associated with maintaining such fleet of vehicles🤷🏼♂️?
I hope u have answers ready . Your head dey there. The cost of fuelling one is just 50,000. Multiplied by 120 is 6m. What can 6m do for Nigerians? Nothing. |

My guy who runs my vehicle papers for me knows better not to add the cost to my total bills. I handle the insurance myself cos I no wan dey fight for road dey commot wheel spanner when a fellow road user bash me or I bash someone I don't do third party insurance myself but I'm seriously considering it now. Before now, I used to comprehensively insure my cars at 1.9% the value of the car by virtue of madam's work. That privilege has been taken away and I'm now paying 5%. I'm willing to take my chances with third party insurance And the bolded is not true. Third party insurance takes care of any car you hit up to a certain amount but not your own car. One guy shared his experience right here on nairaland. He had third party, insurance took care of the car he hit, they didn't touch his own. And even if it's just police let me pass, It's still worth it. The least amount a policeman will collect from you for not having insurance in this town is 5k. Imagine them stopping you 10 times a year. |

That one no follow join vehicle paper renewals na That's because you do the insurance separately. Most don't. What usually happens is that people have a plug they pay for vehicle renewal. You pay and he returns with your vehicle licence, insurance and road worthiness. We tend to add everything together as cost of renewal. |

Pearl1910: Not correct, fare increase is not upto 50%. A trip that was 3k before is now 4k but trip of 1,200 before is now 2k. It depends on the type of trips u r taking.
Secondly, Any money u take to refuel is made back that day...u don't minus it from previous day's Net. So if I make 20k profit yesterday and I take 15k out of it to buy fuel for today's work, I will make 50k today and replace my fuel money then minus commission and I am left with 20k profit for today again. So in two days I have 40k in bank or cash.
I think most drivers don't want to adjust to d new reality. I understand when someone says why will he use 15k fuel to make just 50k. People want to make much more with the plenty money they used in buying fuel, but forgetting that if the prices are increased in such a way that they want, they will drink the fuel in d car because they will have no trips. My house to waterlines used to be 1200 on bolt, it's now 1800. I was under the impression that it's a general 50% increase across all prices. Any money you take to refuel from the previous day net should be removed and the reason is because the initial money you used to buy your first fuel did not fall from heaven. You will always have a deficit of that initial cost of fuel. I'm also struggling to understand your analogy. If you make 20k profit, buy fuel of 15k and you're left with 5k in the bank. The 15k gives you 50k, you pay Bolt 10k, buy another 15k fuel to be used tomorrow, you're left with 25k plus your 5k of yesterday which is 30k. That is what you have in the bank. Your analogy only works when you stop driving. As long as you have to drive the next day, the only money you can realistically save is what you're left with when you remove the cost of fueling for the next day. That's my understanding |

XGhost: I honestly don't understand how this thing appears so complicated. Before 30k daily was not guaranteed, now 40 to 50k is almost a certainty. 100k net I would make in 6 or 7 days before, I'm making in 4 days now. Yeah, fuel price has gone up but earnings have gone up to so I can afford now to buy 15k daily and still bank 25k. If you looking for even a 50% increase fares you're being very very unrealistic and even dreaming sef. It'll mess up the ecosystem and the app companies know this. 50% increase in fare is exactly what Bolt did. As for the bolded, the difference is that unlike before when you maybe bank 22k and only have to take 4k for fuel the next day and you're left with 18k, you now have to take 10k from the 25k you banked leaving you with 15k There's a net reduction in the drivers income but it's certainly not as bad as is sometimes being exaggerated. |

Duplik8t77: that means before the hike in fuel price, you usually gross 40k with 4k fuel? Price was increased by roughly 50%. Every trip you do now is equivalent of a 1.5 surge trip before now. What this means is, if 4k fuel used to give you N20,000-N25,000, 10k fuel should now give you (20,000-25,000×1.5)= 30,000-37,500 |
Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Itsrm(m): 12:01pm On Jun 26, 2023 |
MrCarter577: Surge comes with increase in demand. Demand is low generally on bolt, that's why you see pockets of surge in LASU axis, UniLag and Berger. Demand peaked in those areas Everyone knows this. What I'm saying is, the demand that will result in a 1.7 surge before now may have been tweaked by bolt to only result in a 1.3 surge. |

Pearl1910: Yes they have...the reason is not far fetched...with the increase in price, if u add surge again nobody will request Bolt. As price has gone up, request has dropped but drivers will not want to admit that. I see where bolt is coming from. They are trying to keep their drivers while not losing the riders who are booking. |
Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Itsrm(m): 4:38pm On Jun 25, 2023 |
Pearl1910: Lolz... roughly 60k with back to back good trips isn't a mystery, but one can do 45-50k everyday on normal hussling. Ogba to Yaba is now 5k on Bolt. Yaba to Lekki is now 5k. Berger to Oworo is now 5k. So u see, it is very easy to achieve. When the surge returns we will do even more. Every trip you do now is a 1.5 surge trip And why do I think bolt may just have tampered with their criteria for surge |

Dude, you need to learn how to LEARN. Truly, you are ignorant of happenings as far as it concerns car import in Nigeria, esp over the last year. The pathetic part is rather than learn, you are just here arguing blindly about something you know next to nothing about. Classic cognitive dissonance on display.
1. For over a year now any car year/model pays comparable or higher custom duty than a 2014 car/model. Yes! You can pay as much as 1.5m to clear this car.
2. Even if you buy an accidented car for cheap (which aren't even cheap if you get off your keyboard and try buying one), shipping costs are same as clean title, trucking to the port costs same. These two alone will cost you nothing less than 2500usd in the best of circumstances presently. Multiply that by 750, how much e be?
3. Now let's assume you buy a crappy accidented car for 1000usd , oya add all the costs up there to this 1k is and tell me the sum. After you get the sum, now add the costs of fixing the car here in Nigeria. Then tell me the grand total.
I detest when never do wells just spew hate towards other people. The man is trying to make a living, and you with zero buying intention will just come on here to make a nuisance of yourself. Import your own car and see what it's like. The nerve!!
I jus read the news, and from July 1 due to the naira float the customs conversion rate is going to 700+ meaning clearing cost will almost double and someone wey no even wan buy dey argue price for another person advert. Dont worry una go still buy the same car with 5m plus abeg. Nonsense. You forgot the ever increasing auction charges. God knows I hate paying that nonsense. You go buy motor 1000 dollars con pay another 410 dollars as auction charges. It's crazy As for the bolded, is this real? Can you share a link? Why do customs even do this when there is no real exchange of dollar to the naira? They just wake up one day and say our rate is 770 when they can as well say its 360 and nothing will be affected apart from the money they keep siphoning from us |

Only those who import weed and drugs with their cars make any serious money. I don't even know how you guys do it. The uncertainties are too much. I tell people who come to me for vehicle importation to just buy their vehicles in Nigeria if it's a regular car. It's not worth the stress. |

IVORY2009: You are very funny, most of the cars that are imported from the united States are accidented cars, and the vim are flused out, and repairs are done when the arrive Nigeria, and the sellers would claim the cost of clearing was high, with high selling cost, go to mobile.de and see German branded cars, I know the newer the year of manufacture, the lesser the amount for clearing, na today I dey clear cars You are terribly ignorant.
