PoliticsRe: GEJ Stands By His Single Term Proposition by JaaizTech: 10:09am On Sep 13, 2011
kulutempa:
Really?   If a politician delivers on his promises to the electorate, he doesn't have to worry about being re-elected.  His deeds would speak for him.  That is the difference between Fashola who was re-elected, and Akala, who wasn't, despite devoting all of his waking hours to bagging a second term.    Only unserious politicians and leaders would come up with such claptrap.  If GEJ dramatically transforms Nigeria during his tenure, I would personally campaign for his re-election.   The single term tenure is an excuse for lazy and good for nothing politicians to remain in power.

PoliticsRe: GEJ Stands By His Single Term Proposition by JaaizTech: 10:08am On Sep 13, 2011
twinstaiye:
Didnt they say Nigeria is difficult to rule?  Here is a man who had been there even before he was elected, he is saying from his little experience, single term is better and that the moment a politician is swear in to an office, all in his mind is the second term, the urge to do what he is elected for is not the priority, and all he will do is to do his work with the second term at the back of his mind.  He was elected to work, and to me, since we are not the same, we should not expect him to do everybody bids.  Meanwhile, he appears to become the President of this country when Nigeria was in the middle of internet literacy, so this criticisms should be understandable.
Sadly, the Presidency is yet to understand the concept behind party democracy. In the real sense we don't vote for individuals, we vote for the party, because an individual alone, can't be saddled with the responsibility to lead his country, it has to be a group of people (party), with common goals and agenda but of course with a leader and a figure accepted by the people (i.e Mr. President). Mr. President also needs to realise that his party has ruled this country for 12 years and with another 4 years in the bag, yet we are still struggling to find our feet; so what guarantees that a 6-year tenure with no need to care for accountability will be of any goodhuh

6-year single tenure is not the answer, but a strong party system and ideological party system is the answer, Lagos has made some comparable progress, because when Fashola took over, He continued from where Tinubu stopped, their ideas were similar, that is what having the same party in government brings; but in the case of PDP, political posts are individualised, like now GEJ's policy on agriculture is remarkably a big shift from his predecessors (don't get me wrong I agree with him 100% on this); Yar'adua's policy were very different from Obasanjo's. Infact Yar'adua's tenure was just unwinding the turns Obasanjo had made. So Mr. President, assuming you have your way and Mr. A gets a 6 year term and drives us in the direction of privatisation, and Mr. B from the same party gets another 6 year term drives us in the opposite direction because He is of another opinion, we would never grow.

We need to focus on building a strong ideological party base, and the best way to achieve that sir, is to ensure that 2015 elections is free and fairer than 2011, that way people can start to gain more confidence in the system, politicians would focus less on money politics but ideological politics; because they can't buy all the people, but can win the people more easily with better ideas; parties will now be formed based on ideology and not based individual interests.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan’s 100 Days In Office: What Are The Achievements by JaaizTech: 2:12pm On Sep 03, 2011
I believe 100 days is too small to make any real progress, but in 100 days GEJ could have mapped out a road plan, and could have embarked on that road map, so much that we the people would already have an incline of where He is heading to. That is exactly the problem, we don't know where we are going, this may not be a perfect example, but compare him to Sanusi lamido, you may not like him but if you look at his last 100 days you can tell where Sanusi is heading, one reform or the other, one dream or the other is always popping up, that is what governance is.

The Southern christians make me laugh, I wonder what makes them think they are superior majority in the south. The South-west has more Muslims than christians, so if people are thinking and druming up for the splitting of Nigeria based on religion, then they had better think twice. But I think the split is mainly based on NIGER DELTA oil, the rest of the south are so confident that if Nigeria were to split, then the SOUTH-SOUTH will naturally go along with the rest of the south. What of if NIGER-DELTA goes along with the Northhuh I wonder if people will be calling for the split anymorehuh

Most of the anti-north campaign are completely bias and lack merit. I still don't get it, people keep blaming the north for the all the woes in this country and then I ask my self in the last 12 years of our democracy the south has ruled for 9 years, the south is currently going to rule for another 4 years; and yet it is always the north that is our problem. Cecilia Ibru, Akingbola etc thief money (a very simple and clear case) but NO, we accuse the north of an agenda. SANUSI continues from where SOLUDO stopped and brings up non-interest banking (with Islamic Banking under it), it turns to a NORTHERN AGENDA!. UBA, BANK PHB have operated an ISLAMIC BANKING WINDOW, before Sanusi even ever dreamt of becoming CBN chairman, yet it is now it is becoming a  NORTHERN AGENDA.

Guys, you all need to stop being pessimistic, if NIGERIA will break up it will be after a lot bloodshed, it won't be done a round table; so if that is what you guys want best of luck to you. I have met, worked, had relationships with a lot of Muslims and Christians alike, I see no difference, there are fantastic fellows whom are Muslims, and there are also fantastic fellows whom are xtians. The same way there are very horrible fellows whom are xtians and terrible fellows whom are Muslims, it is just the same everywhere.

Kill one man & you're called a murderer, kill a thousand & you're called to a roundtable. That is the nature of man but what I fail to fathom is why would any right thinking leader grant amnesty to this group. On what basis? What are they fighting for?
Well if that man/group still retains the ability to cause more thousands of deaths then why wouldn't you call him to the round-table to seek a more amicable settlement. Crushing Boko-Haram tooth and nail would have been the ideal solution, but since it appears we don't have the capacity to achieve that, rather than allowing the thing to escalate and make another Somalia out of Nigeria, why not make compromises, throw some few cash around, buy some of their loyalists and see if that works. I think Govt. can deal with them silently later, but at the moment we just need to break them up. I am sure some of them are interested in amnesty, you know the "oil-money", and of course some of them are just trouble makers. But whatever can break them up and turn them against each other is in the interest of this nation.
PoliticsRe: Senators, Reps Back Amnesty For Boko Haram by JaaizTech: 3:44pm On Jul 17, 2011
One needs to look at how these events started, how and why Boko-Haram decided to go so radical. This issue is one that needs to be dealt with a lot of maturity and intelligence. Obviously Boko-Haram is in the wrong, they have caused the death of so many unjustly. But the attitude of forumites is that of making comments to tarnish the image of Islam, Muslims or the North in general. Most forumites intentionally ignore the fact that both Muslims & christians are affected by this scorge called Boko-Haram, Muslim scholars, whom have gone against boko-Haram, have been killed, when Bombs are thrown at voting centres it is the people of borno that have been killed. We shouldn't make Boko-Haram look like a group fighting for the interest of the North, or a grouped backed by the North. Boko-Haram is a delusional sect, if amnesty is what will bring peace to that region then why not.

Journalist should be interested , in getting the Boko-Haram side of the story, but trust nigerian journos, they would rather sit in the confines of their home and concort stories. It is a popular opinion in Maiduguri that the police started the crisis, it was reported that before the crisis Boko-Haram members on their okadas were on a procession to bury a dead member, then they were accosted by the police, who demanded that they should turn back because be they have failed to wear their helmets (the law was just being implemented then), the Boko-Haram members in their stubborn character were defiant and insisted that they were on their way to the cemetry and not on commmercial duty and hence should not be stopped, it was said the police resisted and opened fire killing 9 and injuring so many others. It was said Police further prevented Boko-Haram members from taking their injured to the hospital, thereby causing more deaths, it was at this point that the deputy leader (it was said their leader Mohammed Yusuf wass in Kaduna at the time), declared war against the police, and they went on a rampage attacking police men and sacking them from their stations (quite embarassing), the military stepped in and dealt with them.
But rather than follow the rule of law, the police decideed to go the way of "jungle justice" and killed their leader, this is what further infuriated Boko-Haram (at the time I thought it was only fair, that their leader was given a dose of his own medicine), and made them release the beast in them.

With benefit of hindsight, insurgents are never easy to extinguish, you can reduce their presence or covereage, but occassionally they will be giving surprise attacks. I think it is best for us to negotiate and grant amnesty if that is what will solve the problem. And if dividing the nation is the solution you all want, I have found a formular that would work, LET THE SOUTH-WEST, SOUTH-EAST and may be MIDDLE-BELT, come together and secede and leave the SOUTH-SOUTH and the NORTH  to remain Nigeria. I think this could be more easily achieved.
PoliticsRe: Senators, Reps Back Amnesty For Boko Haram by JaaizTech: 3:19pm On Jul 17, 2011
Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume represents Borno South in the Senate. In this interview, he explains the Boko Haram crisis in Borno State and ways to bring the problem to an end.

You are agitating for the military to leave Maiduguri, what did you tell the President when you met with him?

Actually, the topic of discussion was to give the president the other side of the situation. He has the security chiefs. He is the commander in chief of the armed forces and he has all the para-military agencies on the field, but we are the representatives of the people. So we went to tell him what we know is actually on ground. That is to enable him compare what his security chiefs are telling him and what we the representatives of the people know is the actual situation on ground.

I must state that I was humbled by the concern of the President and his willingness to take any advice that will lead to solving this problem. I think we are getting to it because he said whatever will bring back peace and progress to that area; he is willing to do it. We now say the first stage in the process is to withdraw the military because they have not achieved the desired or expected result. When you have a problem and you apply a solution that is not solving the problem, then you have to pull back and look at the methodology and maybe apply another method.

We told the president just everybody is now suggesting that the use of force in the world history has never succeeded in any insurgence cases. In the United Kingdom, they had the issue of the Irish Republican Army (IRA), in Spain, you have the issue of ETA, in Russia there is the Chechen rebels and in several other places. Even in Afghanistan, the United States and its allies have been fighting the Talibans for over ten years without much success, now they have to go back to the negotiation table with the moderates in the Taliban. That is why we are saying that the federal government should engage in dialogue and intensify intelligence instead of using force. That cannot solve the problem especially when you have an enemy that is invinsible. The victims are the visible civilians. In this trouble now the visible civilians are the victims. They have been displaced and we have gotten to a level of a humanitarian crisis.

We went and spoke with Mr. President and he said he is going to do a lot of consultation to take a quick decision as to what is the way forward. We also called on government to manage the humanitarian crisis there by sending the appropriate agencies to provide relief to the victims.

Many people are saying that the leaders of Borno state are late in speaking out on this crisis.

Well, the military and the authority were taking action, any action we take outside that would have been in countenance to what they are doing. The government is responsible for security and welfare of the people. The government always says or claims that they are in charge and we as the citizens will have to give them the opportunity. But as the situation is getting out of hand now, we have to offer a solution. The solution we have offered is that they should withdraw this military and engage in dialogue. It is from the dialogue that we can get the necessary steps to be taken. I don’t think that we are coming late.

The previous government was responsible for the bad management of this situation that has now degenerated to where we find ourselves today. It is not that we have not been advising. We have been doing that at the lower level. It is now that we have to come out to the public and to the larger society. It is not that we have been sitting down. We tried our best in quelling this crisis long ago but the previous government was not even ready to listen.

As a then member of the ruling ANPP in Borno State, what will you say is the level of government’s involvement in establishing the Boko Haram sect?

Let me say that Boko Haram started eight years ago. It started in Yobe, spread to Kano, Gombe, Bauchi and Adamawa. Although they had their headquarter, that is what they call the Madras in Maiduguri, but it was as a result of bad management of the situation by the then governor of Borno state, Ali Modu Sheriff, that led to the crisis that we now have. I was a member of the ANPP, the governor was from our party but he was solely responsible as the chief security officer of the state. He is the problem or part of the problem. He cannot exonerate himself from that to be part of the solution because he is part of the problem. Sheriff may not be the one who created Boko Haram but who created the Boko Haram problem? It is not the Boko Haram now but the crisis. We are not talking about the sect now because they have been in existence for the past eight years; they never attacked any civilian or engaged in violence. It was just like every other religious sect. there are sects in all the religions. But there is no fight over that. That was how the Boko Haram was. But the security organizations thought that their ways of preaching borders on national security and instead of managing it, they tried to crush that sect and that created more problems than solution. It was the then governor who was at the center of the problem that we now face, so he cannot be part of the solution because he cannot exonerate himself from it.

How can government now negotiate with the sect because they don’t even know the sect members?

As I said, when you withdraw the military, initially they issued their demands before they launched attacks. Parts of their demands were that compensation be paid to the families of their members unlawfully killed and that those involved in the extra judicial killing of their members be prosecuted. That was not done. The federal government set up a panel of inquiry, they requested that the report should be published, that was not done. Let me tell you that they have contact with the security especially the State Security Service (SSS). The SSS was even containing the Boko Haram. Not by force, but by conviction. They interact and the SSS tried to de-radicalize some of them, they try to set them up. When the situation got out of hand, I thought that the SSS and the intelligence people should have been the agencies that government should use as vehicles to intensify reaching out to the sect to know what they want and if that is legally acceptable.

Instead, they just decided to use force. Now the soldiers, because they don’t know who their enemy is, have succeeded in killing so many innocent citizens. While the Boko Haram on the other hand know their enemy and are specific about that, have never except in few instances of stray bullets, they go for their targets. Borno citizens generally were not panicking at that time because they knew that the problem is between the Yusuffiyya and the authorities. Initially, when they issue their threats, they did not include army. They say they are coming after the police and those informants that led to the arrest of some of them who ran away when their headquarter was crushed. They had a list and they even sent letter to their targets telling them why they were coming after them. There are several people today who know they wronged the Boko Haram sect and cannot venture into Maiduguri today including Ali Sheriff himself. He knows that. We were in the same party, but if you advice him, he won’t listen. The consequence now is that he cannot go to Maiduguri.

I beg to utterly disagree with you, sir. In the developed world, even in China which is currently dominating the world economy, PRAYER and GOD is completely out of the equation. Well-meaning men and women sit down, brainstorm and come up with solutions. The problem with Nigeria and Nigerians today is that the time we should spend putting things right we deploy in praying and fasting. Nigeria's future is, collectively, in the hands of Nigerians and not in the hand of any deity.
Good point made; I believe we are what we make ourselves. if we choose to live a discipline life (which will be following the wills of God); then GOD himself rewards us with good (which can be likened to development and national growth). God is a just God, whether you are Muslim, Christian, Jew or Pagan, if you do good GOD rewards you with good (at least on earth). But in Nigeria's case, we praise and worship God ardently, but rather than do good deeds, we go ahead to do bad deeds (corruption, murder, victimization etc) and then use the proceeds to try to bribe GOD, for better favours. Quite unfortunate it doesn't work that way.

The Oyinbo man does the opposite, He cares less about God, but does the right things, He gives to charity just out of good will, He is mostly honest and sincere just by self discipline, and in return God rewards him with some good in life. And also in the same way the Oyinbo seeks freedom to do anything, He wants to be a homosexual, He wants to enjoy his life beyond the limit GOD has set, and in return God rewards him with unhappiness, that is why you see that a white man can wake up one morning and start killing people in his community for no reason.

We are what we make ourselves, as long as the Black man prefers to exploit his own people for his own benefit, as long as the Black man prefers to be rich and leave his neighbours to live in penury, our general state of livelihood will never change. Why is it that working a foreign company (owned by whites and not indians/chinese) is always better than working for a similar company but owned by a Nigerianhuh I remember the good days where an interview or exam with Shell/Mobil meant you would be returning home with at least some cash for transportation!; those were the days the white men solely held the top positions; now they have the black men holding key positions and now those goodies have all disappeared; it is the Nigerian man that maltreats his fellow Nigerian at the embassy while the white man is even kinder and more truthful to us. You see the thing about the black man; He just loves to worship God and sing his praise and He is too indiscipline to follow his teachings.

This development leaves a sour taste in my mouth but does not surprise me. After all, Mr President's nomination to the VP seat was a move made by Obasanjo in order to assuage the feelings of MEND after fighting the FG to submission. Having overseen the granting of amnesty to MEND and other militants, Mr President does not want to be seen as being one-sided in this situation. He wants to be seen as playing the 'what is good for the goose is also good for the gander' agenda. The fact that the FG has taken this stance is a confirmation that there are some sacred cows behind the Boko Haram cause that GEJ and co are afraid of.

This development is exactly what happens when a nation legalizes criminality in the name of amnesty. Now every riffraff in Nigeria can bomb away, loot and kill, kidnap at random and seek amnesty, and still get it. The next thing you know, Boko Haram will send in their list of ministerial and ambassadorial nominees. This is why Nigeria is rightfully branded a lawless nation by other countries. We make laws in order to override them with political solutions. It will be interesting to see what interpretation President Goodluck Jonathan will give to this development on his facebook page.
I think guys should be able to see through junk when you see one, if the true intention of SSS is to use the guys they have arrested as informant or as bait, they wouldn't be making that announcement in the media. Of what purpose will that serve them, making known to  the Boko haram rank & file their core strategy would be a disadvantage.
I guess this pronouncement is to serve another purpose (for which I really don't know). But I don't think it was intelligently thought true, any smart guy will easily see through this their plan. I think they should have crushed them (the stick) , if they truly have them in order to send fear into their heart and make them jittery and at the same time offer the carrot, so that they can see that they have an easier alternative. For me this pronouncement will only make them feel victorious and embolden them.

no collateral needed in islamic banks!
I am not sure of that part of no collateral, but there must be a way to guarantee that you won't abscond with their money. The concept of non-interest banking is that of partnership, the bank has got the money, you have got the idea and the expertise. Both of you come to an agreement, of how to split profits and losses too. The bank can also lend you some of their expertise to help your business plan work.

So the great thing about it is that, your debt will never suddenly increase because of change in interest rates, nor will you become stranded because business has failed to pick up as fast as it should. At good times you and the bank grow stronger and stronger. As for mortgage or taking a loan to buy a car for instance, the bank will purchase the car for you and sell to you at a fixed price, which are so suppose to pay over some stipulated time (not completely sure how it works entirely though). It sounds like the same interest right? but if you have ever taken a loan before, then you will understand that when paying back the loan interest can increase(never seen it drop before), and the bank always come up with all sort of charges. It is just a new banking system

The point is, the media could have easily exposed this to the public, but as always they are compromised. Internet media is what would save us all

I wonder why educated peoole should respond like this. 'Being educated is the ability to listen and gather info on a subject before making unresonable statement. The problem most Nigerians found about this system is the name islamic banking, but they have not gone ahead to research about it. To me its a fine system that will benefit the masses aswell and not just the banks. people should research to know about things before they react, not everything is religious.
That is the problem. They just have certificate, no education. A simple matter, that needs rationale and intelligent dialogue or discussion, but 'No' they would rather tow "anti-religious" line. Even at the worst case, of the bank being designed entirely to suit the interest of Muslims, so what the heck is anybody's problem with that. You still have your Zenith, GTB, FirstBank, ETB etc to bank with, why must one Islamic bank be a big headache for you. Nobody is going to force anybody to bank with a shariah bank, it is a matter for choice.

We have Islamic Bank in Britain, USA and many other european countries not to talk of Dubai. No one has raised an eyebrow in Britain or USA, but the reverse is the case in Nigeria!. Sanusi bring it on. There are also catholic operated banks in the south-east, at least we banked with one in Enugu some 3 years ago. It is owned by the Catholic church, and it is operated by the catholic church. So much for tolerance!

I don't know if you people have lying and deceit concealed in your DNA's that's why you keep denying what the whole world
I am also so pained, that despite you have no facts nor have you witnessed what happened on first account, you still go ahead to conclude I am a liar. If you truly want the truth come down to kaduna, and travel to kaduna south the evidences are still there for you to see. Or just ask someone to travel down from Abuja to Kaduna, and then you can get a first hand account.
Very sad indeed, that people just want to believe what suits them or what they want to believe.
PoliticsRe: Tension, Distrust In Kafanchan Over Activities Of Soldiers by JaaizTech: 10:48am On Jun 23, 2011
Irrespective of what tribe or religion one is, let us be honest and truthful. I live in Kaduna and travel around the state a lot. What the poster said is 100% accurate the southern Kadunas (mainly xtians) massacred the hausa-fulani / muslim population, it is not a question of someone telling lies, all you need to do is travel there and see how many mosques have been razed and brought down, how many Hausa houses have been burnt and razed down!!! . I am not taking sides, but when the hausas are in the wrong we say it, so when the xtians are in the wrong too why mince words.

I stand bold to say, that if the casualities in Kaduna were counted then it would be in the ratio of at least 5 to 1 in the favour of southern Kaduna. Anyone who knows Kaduna would know that Kaduna is divided Muslims live on one side (Northern Part) and christians on the other (southern part). The places where the carnage happened most were in the Southern part. Especially in Gonigora, which is the entrance to Kaduna from Abuja, there was a road block by xtian militants, they stopped every vehicle and if you happened to be Muslim you were hacked down, this isn't a lie. Of course similar things happened in Zaria, but not at the scale of what happened in southern Kaduna. May be I should add, the Hausa/fulani started it, even though they claim they were attacking themselves who were PDP members, and this is clearly evident in the burning of the emir's palace and prominent Hausa-Muslim PDP member's homes, but things got out of hand and they became the worst victims.

I am only being honest, if we don't tell ourselves the truth then we are going no where. Again this is what happened in Kaduna and as for other Northen states the Hausas were the aggressors.
PoliticsRe: Is Fashola Over Celebrated? Or He Is On Vacation by JaaizTech: 10:20am On Jun 23, 2011
I said the same thing when I last visited Lagos that Fashola is over-celebrated, but this is not to take away anything from him, compared to his peers He is miles ahead. Again on the bad roads, I think it is just a cycle that no one has been able to fix. The roads usually go bad all the time during the rainy season, but after that or before that they are fixed. And lagos becomes beautiful again. But the argument is why must roads go bad every rainy season, why are the drainage system so poorhuh Is it a case of too much to do in a very little timehuh Last word I still have faith in Fashola.

lastpage:
The Bomber did not CRASH INTO the IGP's convoy (he/she was 3cars behind the IGP) because "he" wanted to cause "maximum damage"!
How, if he crashed into the convoy, he might have killed the IGP (50-50 probability) and a few officers, at the maximum.

But know the mentality of Nigerians (crowding, hero-worshiping, looking/staring at events! grin ), he was waiting to enter the IGP's H/Quarters with the attention that would "generate" and the crowd it will attract and then BOOM!

Luckily, he saw that he was just about to be detected and he had no choice than to go BOOM!.,, at that moment.

Now, this happening at the "center" of National Security, shows that the NATION has failed and those saddled with the "task of INTELLIGENCE GATHERING (NSA, SSS, in particular) have no clue, what their job means.

In simple terms, they are "Not Fit For Purpose". Why then do we continue to waste fund on such enterprise and its clueless occupants?
Does it take 100yrs to "know what is required and employ qualified people' for National Security?

Na waa O!
One way to go will be to fire either IG himself or the NSA then whoever steps into their shoes will know we mean real business. This is how it is done

BetaThings:
Boko Haram came into national consciousness during Yaradua's time
It was under Yaradua regime that their leader was arrested by the Army and handed over to the Police who procedded to kill him right inside their police station
That may inform why they often the target the police
Now that is what I am talking about with an OBJ on sit I am sure the BOKO HARAM themselves will be feeling the heat. GEJ needs to be stronger and damning. Forget politics, I know the north will rise and accuse FG of not declaring state of emergency in Niger-Delta, but at this rate we just have to damn that, otherwise this country will consume itself. BOKO-HARAM needs to be hit very hard. Track down their bases and bomb it, Fire for Fire.
PoliticsRe: Bomb Blast At Police Force Headquarters In Abuja? by JaaizTech: 4:33pm On Jun 16, 2011
Mr. President should be held responsible for all the security matters, He is the chief security officer of the Nation. The believe that one Northern Oligarchy is the one ruling this country is no longer tenable; Nigerians voted in GEJ and not any northern oligarchy, Jonathan we have given you the power to quash this blood-thirsty animals and we expect nothing less.

Mr. President you have erred by not declaring a state of emergency in Borno; and now Boko-Haram is advancing and spitting in your face. It is time to create a lock down in Borno and deploy 100 thousand soldiers in there to ransack the state. This people operate in broad day light, on motor cycles and yet we can't track their base and bomb it.

Drastic measures are required to nip this scourge in the bud, Govt. needs to invest in CCTV cameras, we just can't do without it, the INEC database needs to be transferred to the SSS and augmented. I expect the police to be able to get the plate numbers of the cars used in the explosion, the person it is registered to and track the person down and if the plate is fake I expect them to be able to track down the importer of the car from custom records trace it from the first buyer to the last buyer.

We can nip this in the bud; we just have to be ready to work and work seriously.

Very few constructive comments.

Good Point Desola here
You better head down Lagos and discuss how you can jointly build roads to interlink Lagos to Ogun so that you can benefit from investments and attract the Lagos populace to buy and build homes in Ogun while providing good road network to facilitate easy commute from Lag to Ogun.

Why do we make hasty conclusions about someones declarations. Did you guys overlook this part of the report?

"We will promote the development of the agricultural sector in such a way that it would nose-dive into major industrial revolution in the state and an avenue for wealth creation in the state."

He also said his administration would generate about 10,000 new jobs within the first 100 days in office to address the crisis of unemployment bedeviling the state. (Maybe through industrial revolution).

Daniels backside should be arressted and made to vomit whatever of the states funds he swallowed. Cutting workforce isnt the best at the moment maybe not creating more is better.
He makes it sound like He is just making empty promises He can't fulfill, how can a state in a messy financial state be thinking of taking upon more cost consuming projects; If he is honest He should be talking about cutting cost, we are not naive, investing in agriculture takes years to yield returns, He would need at least 8 years of serious planning and huge investment to make any meaningful returns of that scale from the Agricultural sector. I am really disappointed with the guy.
PoliticsRe: Maiduguri: Boko Haram Gives Conditions For Cease Fire by JaaizTech: 9:47pm On Jun 14, 2011
To be honest the issue of Boko Haram is different from the issue Niger-Delta, although poverty is something common in both agendas. Boko Haram has been gaining grounds because of abject poverty in the state, both intelectually and physically.People live in a hopeless situation and to add to it in abject ignorance. They easily become easy tools to be manipulated by some confused crazy ideologists.

I am sure the FG is doing more than we think to quash the Boko Haram, but the scary thing is that they are not making much success. To quash Boko Haram, Govt. has to be employ very intelligent tactics to first break the group up, there are some in the group who are driven by the thought that their life is in despair because of the secular system we run, a lot are driven by hopelessness and poverty, and there are some who are driven by a miscontrued ideology.Govt needs to reassure the group and its members that they can have a bright future, that there is hope for them if they drop their weapons. This way they can start turning them against themselves, because I am sure 60% of their members would rather live in peace if they are sure of a means of sustainance, there would be those advocating for the acceptance of the amnesty and there will be those advocating for the rejection.

All Govt. needs to do then is pull those advocating for the acceptance closer and use them to quash and expose the hardened ones. But first they must open the door for dialogue with this people, what they are asking for is just a mouth-say, they themselves are not ready for it. There is Sharia in the North already but they are still confused about the whole thing, what they want is a good life but they think only sharia can bring them that, until they have that good life they will continue to be confused about what they want, until they get that good education they will remain myopic.

The govt. of Bauchi has a big role to play, it is very simple. If the people resist education in English, then give them Education in Arabic. English is just a language, physics, chemistry, mathematics, sciences, social sciences can all be thought in arabic as it is thought in Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia etc. When the people are educated and exposed then they will start to see that there is nothing haram about this english, they will start to embrace education and not see it as something of the west but as useful knowledge. All their Govt. needs is will .I am sure with all the money at Govt. 's disposal they can even influence the big mallams to even say "lack of education is haram". I tell you it is that simple

thumbs up to one of my personal mentors,  how many of you have been under this man's training program. am sure when you do, your opinion about him will change. he's one of the most articulate & purpose driven business men. well informed and globally acclaimed,

this is the trend of strategic entrepreneurs worldwide,  some buy a moribund comapany, re-structure it & sell it off, some acquire a company in a bid to accelerate their growth in market/industry they av interest in and others buy & use as collateral for bank loans.

in a situation where the owners are reluctant to sell, they give them a bear-hug offer which is buying  a company more than its original worth just like how microsoft recently acquired SKPE for a whopping $8.5billion,  the same hatred some of you have for jimoh ibrahim is also directed to bill gates in the US as microsoft plans to acquire FACEBOOK and YAHOO in future.

what barrister jimoh did is a bear-hug offer as N1billion is far more than the value of newswatch and cheaper & faster than starting a new newspaper firm from scatch,  he is into media & recently launched a newspaper so this move will enable him circulate in the southwest & beyond.     the sky is only a stepping stone for this man,  we need more daring indegenous entrepreneurs if Nigeria must deveplo fast.  he will also create employment for jobless youths. JAPAN & CHINA is a good example to learn from,
I have nothing against his buying all that He has bought, but what I am concerned about is what their staff say about them.huh
