Rooney or maybe Paul Scholes has the most powerful shot in the Premiership.

David Beckham is the bomb.
I do not benefit jack from the Beckhams but i appreciate his amazing skills with the ball.
Only few players can match him in ball delivery and inch-perfect crosses.
Sports › Re: What Is Football Turning To? by Jackal(m): 11:10am On Aug 05, 2006
@Christino,

London clubs are able to charge higher ticket prices than clubs in other parts of the country (particularly for corporate facilities).

Tottenham charges the highest ticket prices on Premiership games.
White Hart Lane ticket ranges from 55-70 pounds(face-value)

Chelsea FC is 2nd because they charge up to 35-60 pounds.
Peter Kenyon froze the prices around April and these prices will remain so for the next 3 years.

Man Utd charges between 23-38 pounds and i understand Arsenal will charge btw 32-66 pounds in their new stadium.
and Wigan is the lowest in the country as they charge btw 17-25 pounds.

Beckham's free-kick is top-notch and this is not the only quality he has got.
David is by miles the best dead-ball specialist.
No individual player crosses the ball with precision than David Beckham.
Can Juninho/Mihaljovic or Roberto Carlos cross with Precision?
Beckham delivers the ball inch-perfectly and he makes the job of a striker so freakin easy.

Beckham will stroll with ease into any national team with his astounding natural ability.
U need to go take a look at the goals Beckham has scored in his career.
Who can forget the spectacular goal he scored against Wimbledon in 1996.
Beckham saw the goalie standing a long way out of his goal and he took a shot from the halfway line that floated over the goalkeeper and into the net.
Sports › Re: Mikel Miss First Chance! by Jackal(m): 9:51am On Aug 04, 2006
@everyone.

Mikel has finally joined the Party in California on monday.
He's been training hard and quite impressive in Los Angeles with the rest of the Chelski squad.
He has also been handed Jersey number 12 and i think this lad might displace Essien or Joe Cole when the Premiership starts in a fortnight.

I like Mikel Obi.
He is Nigeria's best hope in the football world and the only Nigerian player that can win the best footballer award.
Mikel is currently soccer's most expensive teenager in the world and Jose believes he can become world's greatest in the next couple of years.

Kolo Toure never gives up.
Do u know he has got goal-keeping skills as well?
Sports › Re: What Is Football Turning To? by Jackal(m): 9:48pm On Aug 03, 2006
@deboksy the optimist,

If the referee had given that goal Barca wld have won by 3-0.or even 4-0.
Barcelona needed that early goal to get Arsenal outta their shells but the freak official sent Lehmann off instead.
Arsenal wld have bombed forward tryin to equalise and this wld have given Etoo and Dinho the needed time and space to cause havoc.

Chelsea might get it right this time.
I dont support Chelsea at all but i think they have the best team in England.
Will Wenger ever beat Jose's team? I dont think so.
Sports › Re: Is Michael Carrick Worth £18.6 Million? by Jackal(m): 9:11pm On Aug 03, 2006
@Lordi,
Dont take this personal.
I wasnt refering to Kolo Toure. I was only trying to tell debosky that consistency doesn't make player A better than B.
The optimum performance is the key.

A student that gets 10% every time is consistent with his failures.
Its so amazing that when we see consistent as a word, we are quick to think its always attached to something positive but its not so.
For example, David James is consistent,
Why? His errors never cease.

@sage,
U r entitled to ur own opinions.
I know Rooney,Terry, Ferdinand, Beckham and Gerrard will play for any national team in the world.
Ashley Cole will struggle to make the bench but the 5 lads mentioned above are world class players that have proven their mettle times without number.
Sports › Re: What Is Football Turning To? by Jackal(m): 9:02pm On Aug 03, 2006
Champions League is all about hardwork and a bit of luck.
Chelsea wld have reached the finals if they had played the same opponets Arsenal played enroute the finals.
C'mon Deboksy. Wld have Arsenal have defeated Barcelona if they had met in the Q-final stages or the 2nd-round.
Chelsea has been very unlucky with the draws and they might still meet Barca again cos they r yet unseeded.

Talking about Liverpool and Arsenal compared to Chelsea,
Liverpool did spend money cos Rafa brought in some spaniards, he bought Cisse and the likes.
Boring tactics got Liverpool to the finals and they were lucky to win Milan with penalty shoot-outs.
Arsenal also employed Rafa's boring tactics ans they also reached the finals last year.

The league table is the only true test to compare these teams with Chelski.
The table does not lie. Do the math and tell me the difference btw Chelsea and the 2 teams u mentioned.
Sports › Re: Is Michael Carrick Worth £18.6 Million? by Jackal(m): 8:54pm On Aug 03, 2006
@deboksy,
Of course, Kolo Toure is more consistent than Rio and Terry.
He has been able to reach a certain high-level of performance constantly for 3 seasons or so.

Mind u, consistency does not mean he is better than Rio/Terry overall.
A guy that scores Cs in all the 9 subjects he took at GCE O'level is very consistent but he is not better than the student that has 4As, 4Cs and 1F. grin
Sports › Re: What Is Football Turning To? by Jackal(m): 8:43pm On Aug 03, 2006
Mourinho bought Sheva and Ballack because his aim is now the UEFA champions league and not the Premiership.
Chelsea's bench of last season is capable of winning the title this year so Sheva was bought purposely to win UEFA and it aint about Drogba.

U r the only person that wont agree Chelsea has improved a great deal.
Has Wenger's team been able to beat Chelsea since Mourinho arrived? Hell Naaaaaaaaaah.
A team that accrued the highest points ever since the inception of Premiership has no spine?
Puhleeeeeeeeeazzze. Dont hate the West London club. They did somethin highly remarkable.
Chelsea has raised the standards and whatz left is for other teams to catch up.
Arsenal went unbeaten in 03/04 season with so many narrow-escapes. 26 Wins and 12 draws.
Chelsea had 29 Wins 8 Draws Lost 1 and conceeded just 15 goals in Mourinho's debut season.

This same Chelsea team was a guaranteed 3 points for Arsenal(home n away) before Mourinho's arrival.
The same Chelsea lost 7 matches and conceeded 30 goals the previous season before Jose's arrival.
Ma guy, Money has really helped Chelsea configure the most deadly team in Europe at the moment.
Who says money can't buy happiness?

I can't believe ur comments.
Arsenal has no word-class defender? Thats fallacy.
What about KOLO TOURE?
He is arguably the most consistent defender in the Premiership the last 3 seasons.
C'mon, if this guy was British he wld have made Pele's 125 best footballers in the world.
KOLO TOURE features in all Premiership games bar suspension. I am yet to see him stretchered out of the pitch.
The lad is a donkey. grin

U seem to be missing the points like a NBA free-throw shots.
Don't delude urself to think Chelsea has no core.
Chelski has strength in-depth and the hunger to win at all costs.
Winning Premiership titles back to back aint no fluke.
Afterall, Wenger is still chasing this feat in spite of his acclaimed brilliance by his die-hard fans.

Furthermore, Chelsea has uniformity.
Mourinho hardly changes the spine of his team whether he plays a Man Utd/Arsenal or a conference league team.
In fairness, Jose has been lucky with team injuries as his players rarely go on a long injury-spell.
Cech-Terry-Makelele-Lampard-Drogba is the spine.
Sports › Re: Is Michael Carrick Worth £18.6 Million? by Jackal(m): 8:12pm On Aug 03, 2006
@debosky.

Man Utd won the match at OT but did not qualify because of goals difference.
Beckham scored the equaliser and the winning goal at OT to make the scores 4-3.

Can u tell me any world class defender Yaks didn't disgrace last season.
The same Yak made Terry look like a school boy defender when Boro hammered Chelsea 3-0.

Yakubu was also on song when he ran chaos at the Gunners defence and he did the same thing to Ferdinand as well.
Mendieta is a world class player unless u started watching Champions League after Roman took over Chelsea.

Mendieta was the ace at Valencia when Hector Cuper was calling the shotz at the Spanish side.
He steered Valencia to 2 consecutive UEFA finals and that was no fluke.
Sports › Re: What Is Football Turning To? by Jackal(m): 8:01pm On Aug 03, 2006
@deboksy,

If money cannot bring u success then what else can?
Man Utd won the premiership when they bought Veron and Ferdinand. Don't even argue that.
Real Madrid have been able to win Champions League in the 90's because they had the crop of the best players in the world.
How did Madrid get these players? Cash and lots of it.

Chelsea can win UEFA if they put their mind to it.
They have got the players and the team spirit is awesome.
The only snag about Chelsea is how they intend to keep those buncha millionaires happy on the bench.
If Mourinho can work the plot out, Chelsea is good to go.

Ohhhh Ma Days.
These guys are cracking me up.
So u think a freak is a better player because he scored hatrick through set pieces?
Let us look at the situations where Beckham has scored free-kicks for his team.

Can any of y'all remember England Vs Greece at Old Trafford?
How David Beckham's last minute free-kick earned England a deserved draw?

What about his freak free-kick against Real Madrid at the 2002/03 Champions League.
Beckham came in from the sub bench and United was losing 2-3 to the Spaniards and the ball just sailed into the net.
Iker Cassilas didnt move a muscle let alone attempting to save the ball.
I can go on and on but lemme stop here.
David Beckham is a world class player. English hype or not.
Afterall, he is not the only English player around.

Is there any defender in the world that hasn't been outplayed or outsmarted before? Hell Nahhhhh
I remember Ronaldinho making a meal outta Nesta. Thierry Henry also made a mincemeat outta Cannavaro and so on and forth.
Even legends like Franco Baresi and Maldini has been outwitted and outfought before by smart strikers.
Lets not base how good these defenders are on Yakubu or Mendieta.
Sports › Re: Is Michael Carrick Worth £18.6 Million? by Jackal(m): 6:42pm On Aug 03, 2006
@deboksy,
Juninho is the best free-kick taker these days but i believe Juninho is nowhere near David Beckham in his days.
Beckham bends free-kick and it was a delight to watch in his United days.
The best of Beckham is better than the best of Juninho. Agreed?

Cannavaro/Nesta will not displace Rio/Terry in England as well so its 50-50.
Did u see how Rio n Terry locked down the English defence against Portugal?
11 men against 10 and England held out for 120 mins.

Its not Chelsea that call the shots on prices but the team that wants to sell the player.
Chelsea reeks of billions and everyone is aware of this new development.
Every club thinks they can make fortunes outta Roman's army.
Sports › Re: Is Michael Carrick Worth £18.6 Million? by Jackal(m): 6:02pm On Aug 03, 2006
David Beckham is a rare gem.
He is a very good winger and his crosses and ball delivery is top draw.
Beckham is also a dead-ball specialist and u need to go back to his Man Utd days to see what i am saying.
U might argue he is not as good like he used to but one cannot overlook his contributions back in 'em days.
Any Beckham's cross to Andy Cole/Dwight Yorke is a goal. Its as sure as the rising of the sun in the east.

Camaronesi on the other hand is just a bully in the park.
He does not cross but simply keeps the ball and make short passes.
Camaronesi's ball delivery is nuthing to write home about and he only features in teams because of his toughness and hhe tackles hard.
He doesn't really contribute positively to the team's mentality.
An average player by all standards.

@dblock,
U wish. grin
Arsenal to make Chelsea pay?
Gabon to make Italy pay sounds better. grin
Why hate when u can appreciate what Roman revolution has brought to the English League.
This trend has been going on for years so let Chelsea be.

Throughout the 70's and 80s Liverpool can be adjudged as the only team in England.
Liverpool FC had money and they were buying the best players in the world.
When there's money there will be instant result and guaranteed success.
Players like Ian Rush, Kenny Dalglish, Alan Hansen and Graeme Souness were acquired to a tune of 1 million pounds in the 70s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In just 9 seasons(1974-1983) under coach Bob Paisely, Liverpool won 21 trophies including 3 European Cups,1 UEFA Cup, 6 League titles and 3 consecutive league cups.

Then came Man Utd in the 90s and early 2000s
Sir Alex Ferguson was able to steer Man Utd to win European Cup winners cup in 1990/91 thus floating the club into London Stock Exchange with a valuation of 18 million pounds.
He was able to buy Cantona for 1.2 million pounds, Gary Pallister for 2.3 million pounds(British Record) and Paul Ince for a million pounds.
Ferguson blended these stars with his club's youth team that included David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs etc to produce the most dominant team the Premiership has ever seen yet.
More record transfers were to follow. Ferdinand and Seba Veron were to cost about 60 million pounds between 2001-2003. Ruud Van Nistelrooy was to cost 19 million pounds and the list goes on and on.
The team went on to win 8  Premiership titles in just 11 seasons including the Champions league in 1999.
Who says money does not talk? grin

It's Chelski's time. Let 'em shine.
Abrahamovic or Mourinho does not control the price-tag on these players.
As soon as Chelsea shows interests in a certain player the price will sky-rocket to about 500%
Shaun Wright Phillips market value shouldn't have been more than 5 million pounds but Mourinho ended up paying 24 million.
Chelsea FC cannot control this ridiculous price tag and when Chelsea needs a player they must get the player at whatever cost.
At the end of the day, Its the fans that bear the brunt especially in ticket prices, Chelsea TV subscriptions and merchandise.
Stamford Bridge is the most expensive ground in England today with exorbitant ticket prices levied on die-hard fans.
It is the only ground in England where disabled fans pay to watch live games.
Man Utd and Arsenal disabled fans don't pay nuthin to watch Premieship matches.
In fairness, i cannot blame Roman for this advanced money-laundering scheme he has deployed cos he has no control over the situation.
Let Chelsea continue to enjoy the infinite source of funds they have got.
Afterall, who wldn't wish the same for the club he supports.
Ride on Chelski. grin
Sports › Re: Is Michael Carrick Worth £18.6 Million? by Jackal(m): 10:13am On Aug 03, 2006
@ sage.
Ya dud analysis is highly laughable.
Without a doubt, English players thrive on hype but there are still some world class players in their ranks that will stroll easily into any national team.
We should remember the British press is the major cause of this hype and not the players themselves.
The press makes or breaks these players and they can turn the wackest player(Peter Crouch) in the world to an overnight celebrity in seconds. grin
Theo Walcott is anutha living example. A player that never played a single match in the Premiership got a world cup call.
Its absolutely ridiculous.

My list goes------------------

Gary Neville
Ashley Cole
John Terry
Rio Ferdinand
Steven Gerrard
David Beckham
and Wayne Rooney.

England has the best set of central defenders in the world that Italy and Brazil are envious of.
John Terry and Rio Ferdinand will feature in any national team in the world.
David Beckham will stroll into any team because he is the best right winger out there with his precision crosses and free-kicks.
Wayne Rooney is a gem and i am yet to see any manager in the world that does not covet Wayne.
Rooney will play for Brazil, France, Argentina, Italy, Spain etc. Unless anyone here can tell me Adriano, Saha, Crespo, Gillardino and Torres will deliver a better output/work-rate than Wayne Rooney.

Lots of cats come here to tongue-lash the English players based on their performance @ the last world cup.
The real Mc Coy of England's downfall was Sven Goran Eriksson who took 4 strikers including half-fit owen, Peter Crouch and a Theo Walcott that never played a premiership game.
In fairness, England had only 1 good striker in Wayne thus resulting to the team playing a boring 4-5-1 formation when they should have played their traditional 4-4-2.
No one crucified England when they ran rings against a very formidable Argentina side in November 2005.
Argentina was outplayed and outgunned by the side some cats called mediocres by winning 3-2.
Lets call a spade what it is. England is a very decent side.
Sports › Re: Is Michael Carrick Worth £18.6 Million? by Jackal(m): 11:51am On Aug 01, 2006
Man Utd did not spend 18.6 million pounds on Carrick.
The contract itself cannot be more than 12 million but Carrick will get additional bonuses if the club wins the Premiership and UEFA.
The deal can be up to 18.6 million pounds but its not actually 18.6million pounds.
U copy?

Its too early to judge the young lad as he hasn't played yet for the team.
Ferdinand costed United 30 million pounds but when United won the title same season no one remembered how much United paid to get him.
Can Carrick replace Roy Keane? The answer is no.
I think Carrick + Mascherano/Senna/Gattusso might just fill the void left by Keane.

I watched all Pirlo's game at Serie A last season.
Pirlo is a good player but he is not the best passer of the ball in the world at the moment.
Riquelme, Zidane and Dinho are miles ahead of him. U cannot even compare Andrea Pirlo to these trio.
Mind u, (Riquelme + Zidane + Dinho) don't even play in the Premiership so forget the fact that i watch Premiership fixtures alone.

U goofed it totally by saying he is one of the best free-kick takers in the world.
Where wld u put Juninho Pernambucano, Ronaldinho and Riquelme.
I am yet to see any player that matched Riquelme's overall dominance of the midfield like he did at the world cup.
Precision, defence-splitting passes, great vision and deft touches.
Maybe u need to take ur eyes off Serie A for a while and watch other European leagues.
Andrea Pirlo is great but he is not the best midfielder in the world.

Lets profile Riquelme and Pirlo based on the world cup.
Do u know how many Riquelme's passes that led to goals?
He was a constant menace thruout the whole world cup.
Riquelme's vision was top draw and his timing and accuracy deserves mentioning.
FIFA's rating is sh*t to me so i don't even reckon with their Man of The Match awards.
R u not surprised John Terry made FIFA's 23 ahead of Joe Cole, Hargreaves and Rio Ferdinand?
I don't need to wait for FIFA to tell me who plays good football.
Riquelme was a master-class at what he does and thatz supplying the most subliminal of passes.

Football analysis is not just ur thang so tape it shut.
Riquelme does not even play in the Premiership and i did not compare Pirlo with any premiership player.
Don't u read carefully before u post comments?

Roman Riquelme is by miles the best passer of the ball in the world at the moment.
Pirlo gets mentioned these days because Italy won the world cup. A kid of 5 knows that.
Riquelme's assists at this last world cup is top draw and 80% of his deliveries/passes led to meaningful goals at the world cup.
I will not even rank Pirlo in the top 5 of the best passers of the ball.
Fabregas, Zidane, Ronaldinho, Mikel Obi will rank above ur Pirlo.
Seedorf calls the shotz at AC Milan not Andrea Pirlo.
