It was after I became an atheist, that porn became attractive. I would confess that religion really helped me to stay disciplined.

I can remember opening a porn website on my laptop and after watching a couple of videos, I decided to masturbate.

Everyday I tell myself this is the last one, but like all addictions, I kept relapsing. I think the highest I had gone without porn was four months. I struggled so hard, but kept failing.

At a certain point here is what I noticed:

1. DESENSITIZATION: You can call it habituation or tolerance if you want. You see, if one bottle of alcohol gets you high, as you keep drinking, you would find out that you need two bottles to get high, over time, three, four, five and so on.
It the same thing with porn, there is a particular category I use to enjoy, overtime it got boring and started looking for another, have watched and masturbated to several porn category to the point where I spend hours looking for more graphic and intense ones.

2. LOW LIBIDO or SEXUAL DESIRE:
Porn numbs the brain. I noticed that after a time, porn became less exciting, I mean it doesn't even move me again. I see the video of a naked women doing things and it takes a lot of time to get it up. It can be frustrating. Before now the just the thought of watching porn gets me aroused. Even having a naked woman on my bed doesn't move me. It takes a lot of concentration for arousal, this wasn't the case before my porn addiction. This is a road to Porn Induced Erectile dysfunction.

3. IT KILLS YOUR ATTRACTION FOR WOMEN: I'm not able to fall in love or have any emotional connection with a woman no matter how attractive or curvy. Have had beautiful girl around, but I can't just feel those butterflies in my stomach anymore, even the sex part is gone. Sex doesn't just interest me again. I feel death. When you have seen thousands of graphics of women with different sizes and shapes doing things, your brain gets too used to it, killing your attraction for real life women who might not be as glamorous as the one in porn.

4. YOUR REWARD SYSTEM IS RUINED: Ponography dulls the reward system. Too much of every thing is bad. When you get overstimulated with porn, dopamine hits every part of your brain making you feel pleasure. When this happens too often, the part of your brain that controls pleasure gets tired and shuts itself down making not just sex, but every day to day activities less exciting.
Everything becomes boring, talking to people, playing sports, traveling etc

If you're a porn person you need to have a rethink. Forget what Vaseline crews would say, porn isn't good for you and so is every kind of addiction.

Can this effects of porn be reversed? What's your experience with porn? Lalasticlala

Exactly. Hebrew6:4-6 explains it all. Its not that GOD wouldn't forgive, the problem is you are so hardened that you can't repent. It a sin of Apostacy and only an adult christian(i.e a christian who has recieved & grown in christ and the word, filled with the holy spirit and has recieved his gift) can commit it.

It's a delibrate act of resisting the Holy spirit, even if you know that he's true. E.g a pastor becoming an athiest.
In this case, there is nothing more God can do for you.

I'm happy when i read comments like this. I was like the op, full of low self esteem, self hate and depression until i discovered Jesus and held tight to him for a change. Encouragement and advice aren't helpful in the long run, they only make you feel good for a moment.

The problem is that you don't know how to ask a girl out. You don't initiate relation like you would a business proposal. You should have just gotten close to her, take time to form a chemistry with her.

I had a shameful experience some years ago. Ok, i was mentally down and i went to facebook to post all manner of cringe and embarassing stuff, calling imaginary names and begging them to have mercy on me, plus all sort of related rubbish.

I didn't know how far my post had excalated, until when i got better and was able to leave the house, only to catch people laughing at me as i walked pass the street. I deleted the posts later, but it was too late.

You've mentioned in the beginning and end of your post that you've had similar experience severally. You must be very good looking i suppose?

It's my biggest regrets today. I can remember 2014 when i joined nairaland, something led me to discover Seun, I started following him and reading his post. I was so facinated with whatever he posted.

The same year, he began to talk alot about atheism. There was one post he made thus 'Why every athiest must be outspoken,. This and alot of his post overtime changed my religious view.

2018? is when i started looking for Jesus after some spiritual experience.

Trust me, God exists.
