Why didn't police mention the IPOB members they killed they went there kill some IPOB members and the retaliated, Now they are telling one-sided lies to gullible Nigerians to justify their atrocities.

PoliticsRe: North West Tops With 12 Commissioners Of Police, South East Only 1 by jamjo: 3:20pm On Nov 26, 2019
celeiyke:
*Concerns Mount over Constitutionality of Police Command Appointments

•North-west tops list with 12 CPs, South-east gets one in contravention of federal character principle enshrined in S14 (3) of 1999 Constitution as amended

•Abia, 13 others have none

•PSC pushes for implementation of policy on balance, equality of states

There are mounting concerns over the constitutionality of appointment of Commissioners of Police (CPs) to the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

While some states have more than three CPs heading state police commands, many others have none contrary to the provision of Section 14 (3) of the Constitution as amended, which forbids domination of one section of the country by the other.

It states: “The composition of the Government of the Federation or any of its agencies and the conduct of its affairs shall be carried out in such a manner to reflect the federal character of Nigeria and the need to promote national unity, and also to command national loyalty thereby ensuring that there shall be no predominance of persons from a few states or from a few ethnic of other sectional groups in that government or in any of its agencies.”

Police sources that spoke to THISDAY yesterday said there were concerns in the force that it was in breach of this section of the constitution, contending that it had become necessary for the police authorities to make amends.

A breakdown of the list of commissioners of police in state command positions obtained by THISDAY shows that while Katsina has four slots, 14 other states, including Abia, Anambra, Bayelsa, Benue, Delta, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Enugu, Jigawa, Kogi, Nasarawa, Ondo, Oyo and Rivers have none.

It also showed that of the six geopolitical zones, the North-west dominated with 12 of its indigenes in such a powerful position.

Of the 12, four are from Katsina State, the home state of President Muhammadu Buhari, while Kebbi has three, Sokoto two, with Zamfara, Kano and Kaduna producing one apiece. However, Jigawa, the seventh state in the zone has no indigene holding any state command.

Trailing the North-west is the North-east with eight of its indigenes in command positions. Of the eight, two each are from Adamawa and Taraba States while Borno, Bauchi, Gombe and Yobe have one each.

With seven of their indigenes holding command positions, the South-west came third in order of ranking.

Osun has three, while Lagos and Ogun States produced two each. The three other states in the zone, Ekiti, Oyo and Ondo, have none.

As for the South-south, three of the five CPs are from Cross River, one each from Akwa Ibom and Edo, while Rivers, Delta and Bayelsa have none.

The North-central, with four CPs is next to the South-south. Niger, Plateau, FCT and Kwara have one each, while Benue, Kogi as well as Nasarawa have no indigene leading any of the 36 state commands and FCT.

At the bottom of the ranking is the South-east, which has only one CP from Imo State. The other four states in the geopolitical zone, Anambra, Abia, Enugu and Ebonyi have none.
The situation, analysts say, makes a joke of the Buhari administration’s community policing policy, which places emphasis on localization of the police.

“The whole idea is that people who are more knowledgeable about an area are better placed to police the community, hence the indigenisation of the police. Asking a Northerner from landlocked Kano State to head the policing of riverine Bayelsa State turns logic on its head,” an analyst said.

Indeed there are deafening complaints in police circles, that the entire mobile police squadrons in the South are commanded by Northern officers. “Does that make sense to you?” a serving senior officer asked THISDAY.

THISDAY checks have shown that in a bid to ensure adherence to the federal character principle and adequate representation of the 36 states of the federation in the posting of police commissioners, the PSC is pushing for the implementation of its policy that stipulates that each state of the federation must produce a commissioner of police heading a state police command at any given time.

The policy states that each state must produce a commissioner of police, who must serve at least two years in a command before redeployment. If a particular state does not have an officer of the rank of a commissioner, a neighbouring state that satisfies the requirement may take its place.
THISDAY gathered that some states produced many commissioners of police, none of whom is heading any state police command.

Said a knowledgeable source: “Some states may have let’s say four commissioners of police but none of them would be heading any state command. They may just be at the Admin Department of the Force Headquarters.
“It is an existing policy which has not been implemented. We are pushing for its implementation.”

The source said the policy envisaged that a police commissioner should serve at least two years in such a command before redeployment.

“The policy states how CPs should be appointed and tenure. That every state will have a state command CP. I mean it puts to an end to the practice where one state will produce four CPs while some will have their sons and daughters on CP ranks posted to head admin and other redundant offices.

“The policy says that command CPs will now have a tenure of not less than two years and should not be removed unless on promotion, disciplinary issues or death,” the source said.

THISDAY further learnt that the PSC is expected to post commissioners as required by the constitution but the policy on state command CPs has not been implemented by the IG.
It was learnt that the IG is allegedly frustrating the implementation of the policy.

“The policy says the commission will now post CPs to commands as it is stated in the constitution that such posting is an appointment and the responsibility of the commission.

“This policy came into effect several months ago but has not been respected by the IGP. Currently many states with officers on CP rank don’t have state command CP,” the source said.

THISDAY also learnt that most of the MOPOL commanders posted to the Southern part of the country are from the North, a situation that is at variance with the federal character principle.

“The issue of Commanders of Police Mobile Force, PMF is terribly lopsided. This is not in the policy but there is need to spread it so that every state, region should be represented. There is need for federal character in these appointments. Presently, MOPOL commanders in squadrons in the South are northerners,” a security source said.

When contacted, spokesman of PSC, Ikechukwu Ani, said the commission had since sent the policy document to the IG for implementation.

“I am aware there is a policy on that from the commission. We have since sent it to the IGP,” he said.
Force Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Frank Mba, a deputy commissioner, told THISDAY he was attending a retreat when he was contacted for responses to the constitutional and operational issues raised.

Answers to THISDAY enquiry, listing the areas of concerns forwarded to his mobile phones yesterday afternoon were still being awaited at press time.

https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2019/11/26/concerns-mount-over-constitutionality-of-police-command-appointments/
They have refused to decentralized the police command. My solution is this let every police officers be transferred to there respective states and let have rotational IGP every year from the six geopolitical zones. This way it will still be command by the federal government.
RomanceRe: My Sister Is About To Marry An Osu Man, About To Commit A Serious Taboo by jamjo: 6:37pm On Nov 24, 2019
TheSkyIsBlue:
My Sister Is About To Commit A Serious Taboo All In The Name Of Marriage

Hello Nairalanders!

Please ignore any typographical or grammatical error. I just want to pour it out the way it is in my heart.

I am seriously confused and worried about what is happening in my family and I will appreciate your candid advice.

There is this guy my sister has been in a relationship with for over seven years now. so he actually asked her hand in marriage and decided to come see my parents for introduction, about some months ago. My family decided to take their time to find out more about the guys family background as is required in Igbo tradition.

After several questions asked, my family came to find out that the guy is an Osu (an outcast). On knowing this, everybody in my family told my sister to cut ties with him and discontinue the relationship because it is a big taboo to get married to an Osu in my place . If you do, no family member or friend will attend your wedding or even have anything to do with you again.

But my sister refused to listen to anybody claiming she really loves the guy, that they have been together for a very long time and that she is not getting younger anymore (mind you, she is in her early thirties). Everybody (my parents and extended family members) tried to talk her out of it but she still didn't listen.

After much pressure and her continues insistence, my dad decided to give them his blessings, although against his wish (my dad is actually not really deep into tradition). Now the guy has done all the traditional rights and paid for her dowry. Their wedding is coming up soon.

But the problem now is, according to tradition and from what I heard, if she was allowed to go with the guy without my dad giving them his blessings, the stigma would have just been on her and she alone would have been considered Osu, since she insisted to continue with the marriage. But now that my dad has given them his blessings, it is considered that all of us (her siblings) will also have that link of Osu too. Except if she decide to put an end to the relationship and discontinue with the wedding, which I don't think my sister is ready to do.

I am really worried and depressed about it, cause I don't want anything that will affect me tomorrow when I want to get married just because of my sister's mistakes.

I will really like to get opinions and sincere advice especially from those that are familiar with tradition, cause I'm seriously bothered. Thanks!
Your sister is not committing any taboo, we Igbo's all we do is divide ourselves with the nonsense call osu I think it is overdue for legislation in the state assemblies in Igbo land criminalizing calling anyone osu.

Yes toll gates are normal thing world over even here in Chicago but take a moment and think the injustice of the plan why would a zone with only five states, with the worst federal roads, zone with the smallest landmass that a state like Niger state is bigger than the whole Southeast zone will get the highest number of gates, more than 19 northern states combined why wouldn't they complain. What kind of injustice is that, are Southeasterners exempt from paying taxes? the same taxes the northeast, northwest, northcentral, southwest and south-south are paying, are they not the same in the southeast? Please furnish me with the total length of federal roads in each zone and the total length of the 19 northern states that will enable us to determine if their complaints are justified or not.
PoliticsRe: Okorocha Advocates One Senator Per State To Cut Cost Of Governance by jamjo: 5:49pm On Oct 03, 2019
Showbby28:
Kenneth Udeh, Abuja

Senator representing Imo West, Senator Rochas Okorocha has advocated the reduction in the number of senators representing various states at the National Assembly, especially at the Senate.

Okorocha a former governor of Imo State elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) , made this known during Thursday’s plenary session.

He made the comments during his contribution to the Medium Term Expenditure Framework And Fiscal Strategy Paper submitted by the joint committee on finance and national planning.

He stressed that if the plan was implemented, it would help to reduce the cost of governance in the country, stating that it would further help the country maintain fiscal discipline.

He said: “This country must begin to make sacrifices; our country provides that we have three Senators, but what are the three Senators per state doing that one single senator from that state cannot do? With over 300 representatives from the states, each of them creates increased demands from the economic system.

“What we need to have under the present ugly economic situation is have a statutory representative one per state to reduce the cost of governance.

“Secondly, we need to fund the productive sector of our economy. Government is business. Our Senate must not operate our budget from an accountant’s perspective but an economic perspective

The Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, in his reaction, advised Sen. Okorocha to formulate a constitution-amendment bill to back up his contribution.

He said: “Your contribution can be translated into a bill; if you want a state to have only one senator, your contribution requires a constitutional amendment.

“You have the opportunity to present a bill to seek for the amendment of the relevant sections of the constitution that provides for three senators per state.

Nice idea but our greedy politicians will kill it and if they can also do the same with the house of representatives three from each state.
Another thing is if the Federal government are not ready to decentralize the police, I suggest every police officer be transferred to their state of origin

Attack On Ekweremadu: We All Have A Responsibility To Rise Against Evil – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the attack on Senator Ike Ekweremadu by members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

In a statement on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Issa-Onilu, the party described the attack on the immediate past Deputy Senate President and serving lawmaker as an assault on decency.

The statement said, “We all have a responsibility to collectively rise against evil wherever we find it and in whatever guise, it appears. We hope lessons have been learnt from this unfortunate incident.”

“Those involved in the despicable actions and the organisation they represent are unworthy in character. No Nigerian should be assaulted in the manner Senator Ekweremadu was.

“It is an indecent action and it is below the acceptable standard of behaviour expected of our citizens whether in Nigeria or abroad,” it added.

The party, however, said it was regrettable that some of the people and organisations who allegedly offered the group open support in the past were raising their voices.

It also accused the main opposition party in the country of playing politics with an issue needed the support of all stakeholders to resolve.

“It would be recalled that the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its leaders chose to play politics over a matter that called for collective patriotic actions when IPOB raised a terror group in the South East,” the APC alleged in the statement.

It added, “It is clear that PDP and its other short-sighted co-travellers who were the main cheerleaders of IPOB owe this country an apology. IPOB hid under regional identity to perpetrate criminality having recruited some misguided elements and miscreants.”

“Are we surprised by the PDP’s hypocritical reaction to the unfortunate attack on Senator Ekweremadu? No! The PDP and their leaders have acted true to type.

“This is what happens when politicians become myopic and allow narrow sentiments becloud their sense of judgement,” the ruling party claimed.

INEC's position is that it did not 'collate & transmit results' electronically & not that it does not have servers (I humbly stand to be corrected).

Servers in the context of this matter also covers emails, website maintenance & other internet based applications that do not necessarily have to deal with collation & transmission of election results...

So what Atiku needs to prove is that collated results were sent (transmitted) over the internet to a central system in Abuja...
You stand to be corrected, INEC said they have no server that they cannot give what they don't have. Nigerians like to shift the goalpost, Atiku doesn't need to prove anything at least not now, what is in contention now is the inspection of the election materials of which the server is one of them, whether he will find the evidence he needs that is his problem but Nigeria law empowered him to do so. Herdsmen have killed two of the policemen drafted to keep surveillance on the troubled Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.

The incident occurred on Monday when the herders attacked the camp of Mobile policemen, Mopol 13, stationed at Awashuwa village and injured another.

In one of your definition of Terrorism, you show the headline where two police officers and seven people were killed but your definition did not mention who killed the seven people and who the seven are. Police killed seven just trying to refresh your mind if you forgot.. Please going by your definition, Are Nigerian police not terrorists?.

Bighead is all it is, nothing is inside that your head. Protesters are not terrorist all over the world people protest and properties damage and people died and that is not terrorism. Please read the Metro Plus headline, the pictures below and Global Terrorism Index: Nigerian Fulani militants named as a fourth deadliest terror group in the world. I hope you understand.

Bayelsa is a disgrace. Anamba, imo and Abia nko? This country needs to be badly restructured and I don't mean by secession of any part YET!
We can start by pushing for removal of certain things from the exclusive list of the federal govt.
Power for example. Once there is deregulation of power, a poor Northern state can borrow money from a bank and build an IPPS solely for a maskive industrial estate 3 to 5 times the size of trans amadi industrial layout in portharcourt.
Dangote and other manufacturers would fall over themselves to own factories there.
Do you know how much power supply adds to the overhead of a company daily?
Attract businesses to your state. Give them power supply and they WILL GLADLY PAY REASONABLE TAX TO THE STATE.
Southeast has a gold mine if they can take advantage of the property taxes, if I said 65% of houses in Southeast don't pay property tax I'm sure people will agree with me. Thousands or may I said millions of houses in the villages can be made to pay taxes they will not be in the
situation they found themselves, they cannot limit themselves in the cities only.

The don’t want them to use the map because they know (as the map would show) that the oil wells lay in Anambra territory! This rubbish has been dragging on since about 2014, with no end in sight!

That’s Nigeria for you...they never take anything seriously, especially if it has to do with something that would benefit those they consider ‘conquered people’! Another example is the Ogoni cleanup...so far all we’ve seen is tripartite meeting where they blow plenty grammar and confuse the poor average Ogoni man who just wants the billions promised to clean up his land! Did you hear much grammar when Buhari illegally withdrew 1 billion dollars with the excuse of fighting the bokos in the north-east?

If this amount of oyel was found in say Katsina or Kano, you can bet your last naira there’d be no faffing about by parastatals like the NBC....they’d have declared the state oyel producing and started collecting their 13% even before you have the chance to shout WTF! shocked
You are talking about collecting 13% I will bet with my life if the oil was in the North there will be nothing like Nigeria.
