DonroxyII: Ilorin is not equals to Kwara ... Also, Kwara has more muslims with larger concentration in Kwara North (Nupe majorly, Baruteen are mix) and Kwara Central (Ilorin emirate). in Kwara south, I think it is more Christians since Igbomina/Ekiti are Mostly Xtians while Offa is also mixed!!
cc Sir Jarus, That 75:25 view of yours for Kwara south though ....
Read my message well. I said my part of Kwara South. I'm from Offa. Offa is at least 75% Muslim.
Offa is also the largest town in Kwara South. I know Igbomina axis of Kwara South has probably more Christians but places like Ajase, Igbaja, Omupo etc in Igbominaland have large Muslim population.
leksite120: No , maybe its your state, indigenous Oyo ,Osun , Ogun, kwara and Lagos have more Muslims, I can't say the percentage though, Ogun should be like half/half if Muslims are not more though , kwara has more Muslims, I haven't seen indigenous Ilorin Christian, even if there's, it wil be a convertee,.. Only Ondo and Ekiti have more Christian than Muslims
Largely true, but not entirely.
Christians dominate the Ife-Ijesha axis of Osun. It is only Ede/Iwo axis that clearly has majority Muslim. Osogbo/Ikirun axis also appears to be 50/50. Over all, Osun appears to be 50-50.
Similar pattern in Oyo, although Ibadan has a very huge Muslim population.
Ogun also has similar pattern of 50-50 with large Muslim population in Ijebuland and Abeokuta. I suspect Christians will be slightly more in Ogun.
Yes, indigenous Lagosians are mostly Muslims - Lagos Island, Epe. But Lagos being a cosmopolitan city, has many Christians, mostly non-indigenes.
Ekiti looks like 80% Christian, or more. Ondo too has clear Christian majority.
I'm from Kwara South and from my part of Kwara South, Muslim-Christian ratio is, to be most conservative, least 75-25. S
Just my view from what I know of these states, not official stats.
amutony: My friends from other Department have theirs, but my Dept., no one has gotten. I was told that we needed to apply to the Academic Secretary before it could be produced (which could take 3 months). I didn't mention this, another panelist (an ABU Alumnus) defended me when I was quizzed on the certificate issue, he told the other members that at times it takes long for the certificates to be produced, citing his as an example. To answer your question, it looks like I'm the only one from my set (Departmental level) that got it.
You still have to produce the certificate anyhow at some point.
I don’t think you will be denied documentation because of this. They know they will do their own independent verification of all certificates for everybody before confirmation.
amutony: Good afternoon Mr Jarus and Mr xfire. After my interview, one of the panelists on noticing that I was still using my Statement of Result, instead of Original Certificate advised that I get it in case I got the job. I got the Success Mail but my Certificate is still not ready, a friend helped me confirm in school (A.B.U Zaria). Meanwhile, I stay in Calabar. Pls, will the Statement of Result be accepted when I go for documentation, with the assurance that I will make it available once it's ready? Your response will help calm my nerves, please.
Only NNPC can answer this o.
But I don't think you will lose the job because of it. They may ask you to go get it before you can continue the documentation.
Are you the only one in your set at ABU that got this job offer? I don't expect this to be unique to you.
Patientnnpctaff: Goodmorning Mr Jarus, there have an argument in the Successful GT group chat, in regards to Upfront, that it has been canceled, how true is it Sir...
I seriously doubt it will be canceled. PENGASSAN will not allow that. Don't forget they don't put such in offer letters. They are all embedded in the clause that says benefits are as stipulated in NNPC's condition of service.
There is no way that N1.5m quoted will be the only pay for GTs. NNPC is an oil company, not a ministry. Anyhow, the total package is competitive with other oil companies (bar IOCs and other top upstream independents).
CodeTemplar: More people should be encouraged to try out entrepreneurship and farming. CBN has been doing some great things with the anchor borrower scheme. These kinds of testimonies you shared are rare and I don't advice anyone to be too focused on it even though they exist. People should look to build capacity more and apply to different directions. I saw the amount of hope folks had on this NNPC recruitment as a I am a follower of one the active posters on the thread. The next one maybe some years away.
I have read comments on this thread that almost got me into tears.
The accounts of those that did not get the jobs are very touching. I was almost moved to tears by some of them. I can imagine the pressure, the expectation, the hope.
It’s just how life is.
It’s not the end of life. In my final year in Ife in 2006, I had a classmate that could barely pay the N17k school fees. He struggled to raise the money till the last day. He was my good friend. Very brilliant guy (first class actually) but from a very humble home.
When we graduated and started job hustling, anytime he came to Lagos, he used to squat with me in my brother’s house. Sometimes, I would even be the one to “dash” him N500 for transport fare back to his state (in the SW).
He wrote the test of Accenture and they said he didn’t pass.
We both wrote the test of an investment management firm in 2006 (we started job hunting even before NYSC) immediately after graduation. I got the job. He didn’t get it.
His morale was affected. Everyone knew he was more brilliant than I was. His confidence was being affected but he soldiered on.
Guess what? In 2008, few weeks after out NYSC, he got job in an IOC that is perceived to be the best place to work in Nigeria.
That changed his life and that of his family and his generation.
The last time we saw, in 2016, he just “warmed” his new house in Lekki which cost him over N60m. I don’t have that despite starting earlier than him. That’s aside his house in his hometown.
This was someone that was rejected by Accenture and Vetiva, small firms.
So guys, NNPC rejection is not the end of life. We have all been rejected by one employer or the other at one point in life. I failed GTB test in 2007 or so (first time I’m saying this anywhere). Today, I probably earn more than a senior manager in GTB. If I had passed the job test in 2007, I would not even have risen to become a manager in GTB today given the multilayered bank career ladder.
So guys, the race is not for the swiftest as the Christians say. And as we Muslims say, what will hit you will not miss you.
Ladyjane5657: Wait lemme gist u pipo what happened to me yesterday:
Nnpc will not kii mi o... BTW, some of y'all crying and bemoaning ur fates, do u pipo want to fall the wall of this thread with ur cries? Pls wipe ur tears, life is just starting..
Have I told u people Shell, Total and ExxonMobil Mobil either rejected me after ist or second tests one time or another? I didn't feel it.. Even tho I felt for the huge mulla slipping tru my fingers that I could do nothing about... I know I would not have felt Nnpc too if not that the length of time it took the Apl to materialize made us unconsciously fall madly in love with them.. And letting go is giving mad feelings like a lover's. But we will be fine.
So back to my gist.
A friend from Malaysia ( no be boifren o , in case u wantu shoot ur shot , especially these latest Nnpc employees ) decided to take me out to console me for loss of Apl ... Umunnaa, na so I follow mi niqqur go ( ordinarily, I would have rejected the offer , I don't trust Malay people.. Them and stealing Kidneys are like 5 and 6 , but I obliged anyways, needed to get mi mind off that wickedt Apl )
Dats was how I was jejely eating my Nkwobi and shamelessly licking my fingers when Nnpc trucks ( fuel I guess) suddenly began passing by one after the other.. They were all together...6 or seven in number..
Do u people know that I didn't know that I had stopped eating and was staring at dem trucks... Tears dripping from ma brown powered face and ma nkwobi in one hand with flies battling to have a share.. I didn't know, until Oga sharply tapped my face with his handkerchief... Oga , abeg no clean ma make up o.. Just jeje clean my apl tears and console me small small... biko Oh! Nnpc!
Sweet nkwobi suddenly turned bitter.. I couldn't finish it.. Oga suggested we leave . yes , we will go.. Madam, abeg package the remainder for me..I know after I wipe my tears.. My nkwobi Wii start hungering me I cannot mourn for two tins consecutively... Pls package it biko.. Madam wrapped it..
I got home.. I tell u, in less than 2 mins.. I was already laffin like mad from watching " a million ways to die in the west" and licking the "takeaway * plate of my nkwobi .. . Nnpc completely forgotten..
Loms... In essence, I know it's painful for a lot of us.. Especially those who had genuinely wanted to effect lives positively tru Nnpc.. But I want to tell u.. U will be fine.. Don't let anything in the world take away ur joy. Tomorrow go better, I swear.
By the way... If u love writing and u are a creative writer.. Pm me, so that I can share something to help u make some cool headed money...
apaf: Congrats to all who got selected and I wish those not selected a greater achievement beyond that obtaianble from the NNPC offer.
Pls Xfire, Jarus or anyone, can u pls help with info on how soon the successful applicant should expect the provisional offer letter from the logistics company. Also anyone with the module of what the NNPC training entails should pls help post here.
I have no idea when the letters will be received but I understand resumption is May 4
Relatively new and we intend to get some decent organic followership on Twitter. I’m accountable for more than half of the current following and promised to raise followership to 3k within the next few days. You may also tweet “following @savannahpetrol courtesy @jarushub” if you so desire.
Thanks for helping me in this small task I volunteered to take on.
Following it may also help you with latest info on the company - who knows there may be opening advertised at some point.
Thanks
Congrats once again to the new oilmen and women and all the best to those that did not make the cut this time. It’s not the end of life. There was no way NNPC will recruit everybody. It’s a fact of life. Better things await everybody.
