Nothing wrong with it as far I'm concerned. I don't believe it's a sign of poverty. It's a Naija delicacy. By God's grace, I'm not uncomfortable now and I take beans and garri. |
Good, if well-intentioned. But it's looking like another case of seeking fame and name. Especially when one remembers how Festus Keyamo hugged limelight in similar circumstance in 2001 during the Bola Ige/Omisore/Fryo case. He hasn't looked back since that case brought him name. |
chamber2: Do i believe that Poly trained accountants are better than Uni trained ones, NO! Do i also believe that Uni trained accountants are superior to their Poly counterparts, NO either. Knowledge is what you make of it and is not entirely dependent on where it is acquired.Endorsed, even if not totally agreeing with everything. |
Started an MBA at last, after 5 years of dilly-dallying. Can't afford to abandon my job for masters abroad now, so settled for Edinburgh distance learning(only seminars to take place on-campus). Hope that will be a platform to put my head at work again. |
One of the earliest contributors to this thread some 3 years ago. So immersed in oyel now I can't even remember anything on investment banking again ![]() |
ballabriggs: Both are on a different class with different ideologies. Only ignorant people would compare professionals at that level. You may disagree with their perspectives. This sums my take too. I am an avid defender of SLS, but I always exercise care not to hit Soludo. You can't take it away from him, Soludo is sound. My summary is: Soludo focused on strenght, Sanusi focused on ethics/morality. |
During pre-employment test for my current job, March this year. |
One or two HND students/graduates doing exceptionally well in ICAN exams doesnt validate HND accounting holders being deeper than Bsc holders. It would not have been a talking point if a Bsc Accounting holder or Accounting undegrad does well in ICAN, but it will be if an HND did. That alone tells you something. Within my circle of friends alone in teh university, we have 2 people that won Best Qualifying ICAN candidates, within a space of two years. It's normal, you see these things on daily basis in top universities but if you have one or two from Poly, it becomes a national news headline. I'm sorry if it sounds rude, but it is not for nothing that polytechnic, at least in Nigeria, is a fall-back for university rejects. |

Why are 3 different people posting same info, with different IDs. Looks like scam to me. I may be wrong. |

My best dressing is polo/T-shirt on top of jeans. I just like it: free, can be casual and serious at same time, makes one look young and trendy, simple etc. 80% of my non-office dress are jeans and T-shirt/polo. |
NIM, truth be told, is a waste of time. Go start ICAN, you will have enough time to study, and hoepfully finish two of the four stages before completing NYSC. I read Economics, but started ICAN out of boredom during service year in Sokoto. Today, the ICAN certificate, and not the Economics degree, settles my bill, as it has always been all my 4+ years career. |
Working in a company that has a number of Americans, I also got a mail last week Friday warning of potential attack around 'places of worship and commercials centres' in Abuja, warning US citizens in Nigeria to stay off those places this week. I shook my head for Nigeria when I got the mail: 1, If Nigerian government gives half of the concern for its citizen the way American govt does, our situation will not be this bad 2,American govt got credible info and alerted its citizens, Nigeria, in their own country, either did not get or dismissed it in their 'nothing-to-worry-about, we-are-on-top-of-the-situation' rhetoric. |
US warned its citizens of this last week. I got this mail last week. U.S. Mission to Nigeria Security Message for U.S. Citizens U.S.G. Beginning Friday, June 29 through July 1, all U.S. government personnel in Abuja are restricted from going to places of worship and all commercial establishments adjacent to any place of worship. In addition, all U.S. government personnelare required to return to their residences by 12:00 midnight. These restrictions will be re-reviewed on Monday, July 2. These measures are being taken as a safety precaution because of recent extremist attacks on five churches in the states of Bauchi, Jos, and Kaduna, and the attacks in Borno, Yobe, Kano and other areas resulting in scores of deaths. An explosion occurred outside a nightclub in Abuja on June 22. Media continually report extremist threats to attack throughout June. The situation in the country remains fluid and unpredictable. The U.S. Mission in Nigeria strongly urges U.S. citizens in Nigeria to consider their personal security and to keep personal safety in the forefront of their planning. U.S. citizens traveling to or residing in Nigeria are strongly advised to enroll in the State Department’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). This world. He and Mamman Ali were in legal battle over Yobe governorship aftermath of 2007 elections. Both of them are now dead, 3 years in-between. Gaidam that inherited Mamman's case also lost wife recently. Inna lilahi was inna ilaehirajiun. This Kaduna-Zaria-Kano is becoming a deathtrap. Borno PDP gubernatorial running-mate in the 2011 elections, Senator Pan-something also died on that road not long ago. Not to mention the many unknown people that also die on that road on daily basis. I'm still particularly surprised at the prevalence of auto-crashes in that road, cos when I passed thru the place about 2 years ago(Kaduna to Kano by road), it wasn't that bad a road. |
Eeyah. Knew him thru his songs while growing up in the 90s |
For me, d fixture is out of order, how can an English club side play a whole super eagles of Nigeria. Not even d champions of England, I am an arsenal fan but also a Nigerian. If mikel obi or yaks were in arsenal, who will he play for? I don't understand tht fixture at all. Why not arsenal against the best players in Nigerian league, it would have been better, we are just reducing our d reputation of our nation every day. Can England play man u? Who will rooney, young play for? Nfa rethink
Too ignorant to be an Arsenal fan. |
Arsenal fan since 1999, Super Eagles fan since 1992. Not gonna support anyone, especially since it's friendly. But want the SE to post a decent performance. Wish I can watch the match @ Abuja, but the said date looking like co-inciding with an engagement outside these shores. |

Good one. If this happened in a Nigerian university, some lazy students and graduates will rubbish it. Statements like 'it can't happen in my school; XYZ school dashes people grades; no, the school is glorified secondary school; if he came to my school, he would have had 3rd class; mathematically, it is not possible' etc would have started flying on this thread. I pity such people with negative, pessimistic mentality. |
I participated in the survey in my then company. The company didn't make Top 10 though. |
